Employee told me to wipe my laptop. Then they still couldn't help me. I brought my laptop in for an exchange. The counter rep told me I needed to factory reset it first. I did it right there in the store. Walked back to the same rep -- suddenly the system wouldn't allow the exchange. He sent me to the Geek Squad desk. Geek Squad and the store manager told me it has to be sent out for repair. I explained the problem in detail to the store manager who has the power to simply continue with store credit. "I'm sorry, I'm not going to do that" was his reply. All of this happened in a single visit. Three different answers, zero resolution. I wiped my entire computer based on an employee's instructions, and now I'm stuck setting it all back up with nothing to show for it. No accountability. No apology. No solution. I have not actually been inside the Best Buy for probably a year, but I was looking for a camera battery. I had to jump through many hoops to finally speak to a human being at the Downers Grove store. He was a very nice young man and confirmed finally that they did not carry the battery. As nice as he was and fairly knowledgeable, it was almost impossible to get to speak to a human being. It's getting to the point where everything is going to be online and while that seems convenient now, I fear that the death of customer service will affect us more than we think. read more

I used to love browsing around Best Buy, but it definitely feels half full. Ever since they discontinued selling physical media, the store has so much empty space. Even the video game section is a lot smaller since I like looking at the physical copies in person. I only came to look at the TVs and appliances. As for the employees, we went half an hour before they closed, so everyone asked if we had any questions. The only thing I didn't like is having an AT&T associate try to switch my phone plan to AT&T, just to get a last minute commission. If I want to switch, I would go to the actual store. I purchased an online order for curbside pick-up, upon arrival at this location I checked in to let them know what spot I was waiting in and received a confirmation number to show them. After waiting ten minutes, I walked in and met Yessenia at the front cashier desk to let her know that I was waiting for my curbside pick-up. She told me to come over to the pick-up area and she would check me out. There wasn't a single customer in sight at check-out, and hardly any customers in the store at 12:40pm on a Monday. I'm not sure why they have a curbside pick-up option if they're going to stand around and wait for the customer to come in instead. If it's that difficult to walk 30 paces from the front of the store, you shouldn't even have the option so we're not waiting in the parking lot. The 75th and Lemont store in Downers Grove: I placed an order this morning for an item listed as "in stock." The website implied the order would be ready in about an hour, but 11 hours later, the status still shows "Preparing your Order." I've called the store with no success, tried their chatbot--which is completely useless--and attempted to use their website's verification process, only to find myself stuck in a frustrating loop. It takes 15 minutes for the verification codes to arrive, and by the time they do, the codes are already expired. After over an hour of this, I finally gave up. As a loyal customer of 20+ years, I am deeply disappointed. This will be my final purchase from Best Buy. I plan to cancel my Best Buy credit card immediately and will be leaving negative reviews to share my experience. I will also discourage everyone I know from shopping there. Trusting Best Buy's competency was a mistake. I wish Yelp allowed 0-star reviews because the one star is being extremely generous. I am also escalating this to the district-level. Unfortunately there was only one employee working Appliances and she was showing a couple options on appliances for a total kitchen and that was going to be awhile. The sales girl spelled my email name wrong when creating my Best Buy credit card account and Neglected to Delete her mistake after I told her, then she typed it in all capitals when my address is in Lower case and when I told her it needs to be changed, she assured me it wouldn't matter. I am visiting Illinois for an important meeting, and my laptop suddenly died the day before the meeting begins. I called Geek Squad at the Downers Grove location, in a panic, and got an appointment for within the hour. Bradley, the associate who assisted me, was friendly, knowledgeable, and pinpointed (and solved) my problem so quickly I was a little embarrassed. He offered to clean my laptop while I was there, and the charge was reasonable and gladly paid. I bought the laptop at a Best Buy in California and have never had a problem with it before today. I have now been into this location twice recently. Both times there are multiple associated walking around doing absolutely nothin or playing on their phones. They literally see you needing help and don't do anything. The first time we Were in for a laptop for my boyfriends dad. We were in the laptop area for 10-15 minutes and not a single person came over to ask if we need help. This week we went in as I got a new work laptop and need to get an adapter to hook to my second screen. I was literally sitting on the floor with my laptop and a bunch of cords trying to figure out what adapter I needed for a good 10 minutes. Not a single employee came over and asked if I needed assistance. When we left they had no registers open and there were three guys standing at the front chatting and doing nothing. After spending a significant amount of money on 3 new TVs and mounting service from geek squad , both Best Buy and Geek Squad refuse to reinstall one of the TVs that they failed to properly mount. We bought a Bosch dishwasher at Best Buy 8 months ago. After 2 weeks it stopped working. We called Best Buy and were told there was nothing they could do and we had to call Bosch because it had been more than 10 days. Bosch has still not replaced our broken unit so we are basically out $1,700.00. I do not recommend buying an appliance from Best Buy. If it malfunctions, you are on your own. I stopped in because this is where I bought my phone and I'm having issues. I knew I shouldn't have bought it from Best buy but I did. Andy... The gm... was just ridiculous today. I brought in my 2 month old phone for yet another issue. I thought the warranty I purchased would cover issues. They can replace it with a refurbished one. Not cool. My phone is new!! Andy refuses to replace a new phone with a new phone. He offer offers to refund my warranty purchase . Omg. Does that make any sense? I'm having issues with phone so he wants to take away the warranty. Wow. Stupid offer. I tell him of intermittent problem. He does some "test" and says the phone is working perfectly. I told him it may be working NOW but there is something wrong. He replies. That makes no sense . It's working but not working? Omg. This man should definitely not be in a place of customer service. I just feel those comments were so ignorant. And I guess I may as well add this as well. When I purchased my phone a young girl at the phone desk helped me do a transfer. She wanted to do it a certain way so all of my pictures will remain in my folders. So we did it and it got messed up. Nobody knew how to fix it. Horrible experience. The staff didnt know how to solve a basic problem of a broken ipad screen. After talking with 3 managers about the solution to my problem they threatened to call the police on me. When I spoke to the manager the entire team lied to him and forgot to inform him of my problem, they attempted to deceive him and didnt tell him the company threatened legal action against me. He had no clue they did that. That's a leadership problem. They don't respect their manager enough to be honest to him and will lie to you and him to do less work. They also are drunks, multiple staff members had a strong smell of alcohol on them at 1 in the afternoon. When I discussed this with management he immediately disregarded my concern and said no one here drinks. And yet he has images of him drinking a beer on this site. Because that's what customers want, a drunk, lazy and deceitful manager. I am shocked they advertise this and don't take their customers concerns seriously. Don't believe me? The picture on this very site has a pic of the manager drinking beer! How much more advertising do you need to see the entire store are drunks and proud of it. So proud they even advertise their ability to drink on a corporate site. So unprofessional at this location, I don't expect best buy to be around long with this kind of abilities. Came to best buy in woodridge il.. Jackie was so helpless. We stood for 5 mins waiting for any of the 4 other employees, including Jackie, to help us until so we finally had to go ask them if they were going to help us. She was so clueless. She didn't know if the tablet I wanted was in stock, she didn't offer options,colors, gigs. After I told her what I wanted went back to the other 2 or 3 employees to continue to talk then she went to get the item I wanted. There were no other customers in the section we were shopping and there were 3 or 4 of best buy employees standing around. if i could give the Geek Squad desk negative 100 stars, i would. I bought a laptop, with the assurance from Geek Squad and my BB sales person, i could check Apple store, and if i changed my mind, the computer and the software was completely returnable and they would wait to load the software until i returned with my old computer. I went to Apple that same evening and ended up purchasing a new laptop there. Returned to Best Buy very next day, and they would not return my laptop, without charging me a $175.00 Geek Squad fee. Called my credit card company, and they said, dispute it. I did, and Best Buy told Chase that i had the computer (it never left the store). Finally, after extensive emailing and letter writing, they refunded the cost of the laptop but charged me a $82 fee for storing it. Huh? I used to shop Best Buy all the time --no longer. I walked into this Best Buy on a Wednesday morning, around 10:30, not a busy time at all. I was looking to buy a new TV. There were maybe 5 other people in the store. When I walked in, the worker who sits by the door just looked at me, didn't say hi or acknowledge me, just gave me a look and looked back down at his paper. I looked at almost every single TV, comparing the pros and cons of each, for probably about 20-30 minutes. During this time, not one worker came up to me and asked if I needed help or anything. Several walked by, didn't even look or say hi to me. The customer service here is awful, especially for a retail store who prides itself on selling high end electronics. I'll take my business to the Best Buy in Naperville or Oak Brook instead. Employee attitudes like this are why stores lose out on business. read more

What I always liked about them is that they would put it on professionally for me at no charge. Although there were several associates in the phone area not doing anything they sent me to the geek squad where I waited almost 10 minutes and gave up. Going back to the phone area I was told that they could put it on but there was an extra eight dollar charge for it. So I would pay $20 for the screen protector or buy the same thing for two for six dollars on Amazon and do it myself. Then I looked at WiFi pods and again found them $20 cheaper on Amazon. Without exception the worst customer service I've ever experienced. We are now on attempted delivery number 4 for our appliances. Have repeatedly been told they are coming and have actually had delivery people call to say they are twenty minutes away that never come. Just spoke to our salesperson Shane Mahon who glibly stated "looks like it is going to be handled" on our fourth future appointment when I informed him we will have taken four days off and emptied our fridge/cabinets waiting for hours for deliveries that never came.
