This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had in New Jersey! My wife and I came out for a date night, spent several hundred dollars on food and drinks, "additionally tipped the band", bought 2 pictures from the photographer to capture the moment, which was $40 dollars, and were genuinely enjoying ourselves--until we were rudely asked to move from our seats. Not once were we told there was a seating time limit when we arrived; if there had been, we would have considered it. Instead, we were blindsided and treated with complete disrespect. The waitress ignored us when we tried to order another round of drinks and had the audacity to snidely ask, "Do you plan on spending the night here?" Her attitude was atrocious. Then the "manager", Alisha, made things even worse by rolling her eyes, sighing loudly, and treating us like a nuisance instead of valued customers when asked why must we move to take seats at the bar? Her behavior was completely unprofessional. To make matters worse, the food--which used to be good--has gone downhill. What was once great food went to overly salted now lacks any flavor at all. And on top of the terrible experience, I was in the bathroom all night afterward. That's right: the food made me sick. This establishment didn't just ruin our evening but also humiliated us. The treatment extended beyond us. A group seated in the same area was also rudely asked to vacate, while still dining, in preparation for a dj that wasn't there to store his equipment. Meanwhile, the restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived and remained so even after we left, roughly around 8:30 pm. I believe in supporting Black-owned businesses, but this place is an absolute disgrace. Between the 20% automatic gratuity for two people, 8 dollars per person surcharges for the band, although excellent we did not come to see, bland food that made me ill, and being unceremoniously kicked out, I will never return. It was a group of 8 of us for my friend's birthday and none of us enjoyed our food. The collard greens were bland, the mac n cheese had a lot of pepper but not much else, the yams looked and tasted like they came out of a can, the short ribs weren't horrible but the bourbon gravy didn't pair well with it, the mashed potatoes were bland, the gumbo had a lot of pepper but no other flavor, the calamari wasn't bad but it was very salty and the wings were bland. All I can say is Wow! We've lived in this area for 30 years but have only been to Delta's years ago when I was a kid. I was excited to try them again as an adult, especially since my friend raves about their happy hour. My cousin made us reservations for Easter brunch and I could practically taste the chicken and waffles. But we had to switch the resys to dinner because more people joined our party. No biggie - the Henny cocktail list more than made up for it. Walking in to this spot was like being at Afro Punk - everyone was so damn beautiful! Whew I love my people! I was dining with pescatarians so the fried catfish, whiting, and calamari had us in a chokehold. When me and my cousin bit into the greens, we both moaned lmao. My only regret is not getting peach cobbler to go - but I had a 1/2 dozen Krispy Kremes waiting at home so. Yeah. It was really good and super seasoned. Too bad it's not on the regular menu. Entrees - we had the herb chicken and the fried chicken. Someone in our group had the red snapper apart of the restaurant week menu. It looked really good. The herb chicken was nicely seasoned and paired with the collard greens and Mac and cheese. I do not particularly like nutmeg in Mac and cheese but I didn't enjoy it. The fried chicken was paired with the mashed potatoes and collard greens. I think the collard greens were the highlight of the dish. The mashed potatoes didn't taste like anything but mashed up potatoes, no butter or seasoning. The mashed does come with gravy which I go on the side but I'll not a gravy girl so I'd pass. The chicken was very nicely fried and crispy. But to not return my calls and to stop answering my emails at a certain point is wild. I have had soul food all over the country at various price points and let me tell you. Well, before I say this let me mention that this is my first time and I am not apart of another competing restaurant that's trying to smear their name. This is a real customer that is highly upset. This place for my first time, was horrible. Everyone has their own experiences but my experience was horrible and I mean 1 or 2/10. The only thing I was okay with tonight was the decor & the guy who came to take our food away and the guy at the door. Everything else was really bad. The food/pricing. I booked this place a couple weeks in advance and did all the research I could do. The pricing for the orignal* (key word) was what we were and many other guests were expecting. But when we got there and after we were sat, they handed us a menu that said each guest is $85 per person. It was ridiculous because there was no advertisement for that set price and dinner. Not one mention of it when I spoke with them on the phone, over email or anything. We were told and we saw people walk out before we sat down and come to find out it was because they too were bamboozled by this. I have no problem paying good money for good food but there was nothing I ate that was good or even above average. I was so excited to come eat here after hearing wonderful stories but this was a disaster. The catfish was okay but only 1 piece ? Come on now y'all. The gumbo wasn't gumbo & came with 1 piece of barely cooked shrimp The collard green dip was a hot mess The corn bread was good The okra was okay The yams were okay The Thai chili wings were 10/10 I will not lie The red beans and rice were some of the worst I've ever had. The sweet potato pie was real good but to give it to me like that and not as a slice is just, wow. None of what I ate all together is close to $85. I came to this establishment for my sisters birthday. Her birthday is on NYE. I made reservations several days in advance and needed to change them. I called and the person told me they couldn't accommodate my party of 5... however there was an availability online; so thankfully I was able to book. I think most of the workers just started. Ok fast forward to 12/31/22. The last day of the year, my sisters 30th birthday, decent weather. I came in and not 1 person greeted me. I wasn't sure if the hosts needed another hour to gather themselves together but I was so confused. There was at least 5-6 workers in the front and they all just starred lol. I even asked my guests if everything was ok and they told me they are a little dull in this place. Don't get me wrong I didn't expect over and beyond for the last day of the year but at least a hello welcome to deltas something typically. (Glow) The restaurant was beautifully decorated for NYE and besides the decorations; Delta's looked like it's a beautiful place nonetheless. Our server Monique came to great us and tell us about a MANDATORY NYE menus. I was annoyed at this because when I made reservations. I did not see anything that stated it was a mandatory pre-fixed meal (May have missed it or it wasn't there). That's besides the point, if our waiter was nice and friendly it would've been cool but to add insult to injury she was the most non friendly and lackadaisical waiter I've encountered. I'll give her the benefit of doubt, maybe she was tired or maybe that's just her. Idk. It wasn't good though. Towards the middle of our dinner, the waiter tried to make some jokes. So I am guessing maybe she wasn't warmed up yet?! Anyway what put the icing on the cake was when I saw her pull over one of the busboys and spoke so harsh to him. I was so afraid for the guy. Even if it's a common mistake he makes; as workers that should've been done in private. I believe he confused two tables that were adjacent from one another for 3 secs and she freaked out on him. Thankfully for that same busboy that she was so mean to; We were able to get a refill of water, cornbread, and hot sauce that never came when we asked her. (Glow) if you're into soul food the catfish was well seasoned and good. The rice and beans, the (crabless) crab Mac and cheese, the ribs, the Turkey were are good according to my guest. I had the catfish and I would 100% recommend that. The only complaint regarding food was the fried whiting. My guest had difficulty finding the meaty portion of the fish. The majority of it was dried out but at that point I didn't want to ask that waiter for anything. We were just ready to go! I do not see myself returning to this establishment. So my wife sponsored my 60th Birthday party there with about 15 guests. Since there's no visible parking we were circling around trying to find somewhere to park. We were notified by phone that our reservation needs to start on time and we were then told we had to valet park! So we valet parked and then we were not allowed to sit until EVERYONE ARRIVED ! This was extremely frustrating but a few minutes waiting majority of the guests had arrived so we were escorted upstairs to be seated! The female manager was very short tempered from the start. Once upstairs the waitress was extremely wonderful and did everything within her power to make the night better! One of the guests ordered jambalaya turkey wings and when it arrived it was smothered in jambalaya sauce (gravy). The guests asked to replace the meal since she couldn't eat the gravy. The manager came to the scene and stated "we're losing money on this meal" The guest agreed to pay for it but definitely wasn't going to eat it. The guest husband's meal arrived and her and her husband was sharing his meal momentarily and the manager told them "no plate sharing"! She told the guest she will educate them on how to read the menu so they can understand how to order a meal! I lived across from Delta's for a whole year and finally checked out the place Vibes: - cozy yet spacious - rustic red brick walls, bold wallpaper and moody lighting - classy place for celebrations Food: - buttery and sweet corn bread to start! - Moscow mule could have some more ginger beer flavor but overall it was a good strong drink - the best Mac and cheese I've had in awhile: perfect blend of sharp and mild cheeses, pasta was cooked just right - gravy for the mashed potato had a hearty flavor and went really well with the fried whiting and the potatoes - fried whiting: crispy, a bit dry. I would like to share my recent experience at Delta's to warn others. Delta's offers valet parking for $20 due to limited parking in the area, so I decided to use the service. When I got my car back from the valet, they failed to mention that my car had been ticketed while in their care. I paid for the convenience, but ended up with a ticket! I went back inside to speak with the manager, expecting some assistance. Unfortunately, she dismissed my concern, claiming the valet company wasn't affiliated with the restaurant (even though they handle parking for their customers, which directly affects their business). I then approached the valet team about the ticket. They acknowledged that this happens frequently and assured me they would take care of it. However, weeks later, I received a letter stating the ticket was never paid! Not only did I pay $20 for parking, but I now had an unpaid ticket to deal with. & on top of that, the food was mediocre. Came here for a friend's birthday party. I had a good time. We were a group of about 8 so they sat us in a separate room. The problem is it's right by the entrance and there is no door or curtain to stop people from staring or stepping in. There was a jazz band, but from that room you can not see or hear the band. Having been to Delta's a few times over the years, my first & only review of them is based upon this experience, & some consistencies that happen each time. Started off with a phone call that they were running 10-15 minutes behind schedule on seatings. I appreciated the call, but the reality was we didn't get seated for our 8pm seating, until around 8:40pm. This type of thing (minus the courtesy call) happens all too often. Our Waitress (Sloawn) was excellent, but she could only work with the hand that she was dealt. The food here is definitely hit or miss, & parking is ALWAYS TERRIBLE!! Tonight, unfortunately, was a miss. They only offered water with the Mother's Day package, & were out of a few of the appetizers & side dishes. Now for tonight's food review: The Mac & Cheese was good, the Cornbread was dry, cold, and hard. The Potato salad had an odd taste, that I couldn't pinpoint what it was. Didn't make it bad, it just was not my preference. The Yams were very good. The Ribs were over cooked, not "fall off the bone" at all. The Salmon was prepared well, but my Daughter wasn't a fan of the lemon sauce on it. Again, not a bad thing, just not a preference. The Fried chicken was severely undercooked!!! Legit still had a bloody center. You get 3 pieces (2 thigh, 1 leg), my Wife and I both got it, & we both had the same experience with the pieces that were thighs. So 4 bloody thigh pieces in total. They did replace our 2 thighs with 1 properly cooked thigh each. Better than nothing. We've been here before & had Good (never great) experiences, but this was a very poor experience. Beautiful restaurant, came out on a Sunday for a birthday dinner, they don't have a free parking lot, but they do provide valet parking, which is $20. Or you park on the street. I came in the restaurant and nobody really helped me, I had to find my group myself. I ordered a delta's punch to drink, which was good. I also ordered fried catfish with potato salad and grilled asparagus. Honestly the only thing I enjoyed on my plate was the catfish, it was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, super flavorful, I loved it. The grilled asparagus was very skinny, looked liked 6 pieces of string beans, and wasn't grilled at all, it was also overcooked! The potato salad didn't have much going on, I've had better at a cookout! They provided commentary dessert for the birthday girl which was great but they do not sing. There was no pudding in mine, which is a big problem considering it's supposed to be a pudding-based dessert. It was a pile of wafers, a few slices bananas and a sh*t-ton of overly sweet whipped cream. Nearly inedible. I was looking forward to trying it and it was a huge let down. A sad way to end the meal. I was meeting up with a friend for a quick bite to eat before she left town to travel out of state. I had the mac and cheese egg rolls from the appetizer menu and they were delicious! My friend had the catfish nuggets and she said they were well-crusted and deliciously deep fried. We sat at the bar, the service was decent. The vibes here are immaculate. You can sit at the bar or get a private room or sit at one of the tables. It's a huge space and they always have amazing DJs! I would reallt recommend this place for a date night. The food is also super yummy and delicious! It is definitely an experience and super fun! I've been to Deltas plenty of times for Brunch, Birthday celebrations, and Dinners and have never been too wowed over my experience/food, but I decided to come here one night for First Friday (an event they have every first Friday of the month) and had a really good time; at least, until I closed out my tab.... If you're coming here to hear good music and dance this is definitely your spot BUT... If you plan on drinking, be prepared to spend some money. My friends and I managed to have a good time because we kept blindly ordering drinks and shots without asking how much and were completely thrown off after closing out our tabs. I closed out my tab after ordering 4 shots of Casamigos Blanco for my friends and I and the bill was $78 !!!!! The $78 included tax and a 20% gratuity that was already added to the check. I was so shocked but so lit that I didn't even make a fuss about the ridiculous price of the tequilla shots. I could've brought almost two bottles of Casamigos for that price. Sadly, I wasn't the only one who was left like this after ordering drinks. My friends closed out their tabs and were left with bills of $150+ each. They only ordered a round of shots for the four of us and a few cocktails. Overall, would I go back to Deltas? Yes. Will I be ordering more than one drink outside of Happy Hour ? Hell no. When you tell me it's a soul food restaurant, I truly do expect to be wow'd by the food to the point where I'm debating if I want to order seconds. My drink was delicious. I got the smothered pork chops. They tasted old unfortunately. They were chewy like they were cooked earlier that day or the day before and they just reheated them. The wings orders for appetizers tasted the same. Like they were reheated or cooked earlier. I could see the potential but it was a no for me that day. If they were made fresh or made to order I probably would have enjoyed them. Mac n Cheese and Yams were really good. My date had the catfish with fried okra, mac n cheese and southern grits. I came to Delta's before in the pre-COVID days for my birthday. It was really good. Food: so let's talk apps. The first time I came here I had the alligator strips, AMAZING!! It was such an interesting experience. And if you are wondering yes it does kinda taste like chicken just a different texture. This time we had the southern Poutine. This sweet potato fries topped with Mac and Cheese and a brown onion gravy. so good! I wasn't sure what to expect but it was good and the sweet potato was the perfect balance with the Mac and cheese, and the gravy added a nice salty-creamy goodness. Entrees: I had the Fried catfish. really good and a nice size my only complaint is that you only get one piece, for the price you should get two. My sides were greens (collards green for those that don't use the terminology) it was ‍aka so-so, nothing to really rave about. The Mac and cheese was okay, more creamy than cheesy which to me. The other dish was the fried chicken and ribs. Cooked well and the ribs were very tender. But both were on the bland side. The side I don't remember but not memorable. The cocktails are creative and vibrant. The sangria is good I'm more of a fan of their white. The pink diamonds is very tasty; on the sweeter end, actually sweeter than I expected. Overall, no im not coming back 85 dollars per person.....like how u gonna take soul food not do anything special with it and say it's a mandatory NYE pricing. Grimey! small portions and the food was not even a glimpse of what soul food is or what it's about. Im all about supporting local businesses but that's just wrong as a community favorite spot to charge that much for no reason. That food was missing heart and soul! The greed is insane. I dont mind dropping money for some good food. But it's really the worst when the food is not worth it. I have nightmares about that collard green dip. It was such a mess. it was straight up cheese and collards......like it was not dippable bc it was so thick my chip kept breaking in the bowl LOL. Not creamy, wasnt a dip. The food was very good and tasty! Our service wasn't the best I don't know if they were understaffed but our waitress definitely was overwhelmed then didn't split our checks properly and that was extremely frustrating as we had waited forever for her to come to our table! I'm not from NJ so next time I'll prob order pickup instead of dining in. read more

This is a great place offering good southern cuisine with nice cocktails. There's valet parking which I recommend but if you're familiar with the area I believe there are lots within walking distance. They offer a varied menu specializing in southern Cajun cuisine. My table was feeling adventurous and included an order of the fried gator with other appetizers. I was apprehensive but turned out to be good. I opted for a carafe of the mango sangria to accompany the ribs, collards and candied yams. Everyone's meal looked delicious and more importantly everyone was happy with their choices. I found their dessert options limited though. The venue appears to have plenty of room on two floors and centering around live music. The evening I went there was a trio playing jazz. We sat at high top tables across the bar near the band. All in all it was a fun evening with good food and drinks and live music. Be warned- it gets crowded quickly so make reservations and don't plan on making conversation. read more

Living in the Northeast it's not always easy to find a place that can give you southern cooking and do it right. Heard about Delta's through a friend and decided to give it a shot one night. To start parking is definitely not easy. Drop your party off in front of the restaurant and go park at the hotel nearby. When we walked in there was a live DJ playing and he was very very loud. Not only loud but also playing music that some would consider offensive and definitely not what I would consider child friendly. The hostess told us that the music should wind down within 30 minutes so we pressed forward with our reservation. Fortunately they put us in a private room for our party. The extremely loud music continued for approximately 40 more minutes before it finally came to a rest. I could even hear some of the staff celebrating that the loud music had stopped and that they could finally hear their customers again. With all that said that's where the negatives end. Honestly. Service by our waitress Sloan was amazing. She was very attentive and friendly as were her teammates. Everyone was wonderful. We ordered various dishes including fried chicken, beef ribs, peach pork ribs, and lots of different sides including collards, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and green beans. My only disappointment being that they weren't serving grits at the time. Everything was delicious! Well prepared. Great flavor and plenty large portions. I can't believe that some of the reviews say the portions were small. That is definitely not the case. Oh and the banana pudding was banging! Coffee was also fresh, strong, and delicious. We would definitely come back again but would want to know when the music was going to be pumping to try to avoid that. With that said, it might not be our thing but it may be someone else's. I truly truly wanted to enjoy Delta's. Really and truly. However, my experience there was subpar at best. Let's start with the perks. The ambiance was cool; they had a DJ there that night that knew what he was doing! Playing 90's hip-hop and r&b, my type of vibe. The drinks were cool as well. Now, on to the pitfalls. The food was pretty bland and everything came out at once. The service just felt so rushed! No pacing of the courses at all. Secondly, they had a catfish dish that I had to send back. Lord have mercy, that catfish tasted like salt water; nothing more and nothing less. Overall, I probably wouldn't return, nor recommend. read more
