This place was amazing!!! We work in Berkeley Heights NJ and we only have 1 hour lunch break!! So it's hard to get a good lunch in a short amount of time!!! We will never eat here again. We visited Delicious Heights on 10/31/2019 for dinner. My wife ordered the Creole Shrimp entree and after a few bites into the dish, she chewed on some kind of metal mesh, thereby scraping the roof of her mouth. The metal mesh was mixed in with her food (photo below) We didn't know what it was. The manager (Dagmar) was very apologetic, but she couldn't really explain where the mesh came from. She didn't charge us for the meal and gave us a $50 gift certificate to return again. We left the $50 gift certificate with the host on our way out. When I was here on Thursday I had a Founder's Breakfast Stout and Lagunitas IPA. The (kind of ) Bad: Their take-out is ok. They have many options and some of them are semi-healthy. The food is nothing to write home about. And the VERY Ugly: The restaurant at Delicious Heights is pitiful. I went to lunch yesterday (Saturday) at around 2pm. When we arrived (a group of 3) there were only a few people there. By the time we left we were the ONLY table left. Unfortunately we did not leave until 4pm. It took two hours to get a simple lunch. On top of that the waiter threw out our leftovers! My boyfriend ordered $30 crab cakes and had half left that he was saving for a snack later in the day. That's $15 the waiter threw out. No apology and the waiter didn't even tell us! The final nail in the coffin was when they turned the Mizzou and Texas basketball game with 5 minutes left!! First they turned it to an infomercial and then to women's golf! Keep in mind there was 5 minutes left, we were the ONLY people in the restaurant and were obviously deeply engaged in the game and they turn it to WOMENS GOLF! The food is decent, and they do have a huge menu, but it's not like decent food and alcohol is some kind of radical concept. The best thing about this place is by far the bar. High ceilings, wood everywhere, enough TVs to keep up with a few sporting events at once, and beer. Lots of beer, around 10 beers on tap and a ridiculous (some might even say radical) number of bottles. If you cant find a beer you want to drink here, you have a problem, not Delicious Heights. But, overall, the place is just decent. The food isn't really great enough to wait through lines and dodge the lunatics trying to grab one of the few parking spots. I have heard so much about this place. "Their happy hours are great". "Their menu is extensive and good". "Parking is a pain". I live down the road from this place and never stepped foot inside...until Friday. I was tired of going into Madison and eating the same crappy food at 54M. Expecting to be fighting over a parking spot I figured I would avoid the lot and park on the other side (by Rita's). This would avoid any ensuing parking battle (as outside the place parking is limited). Plenty of parking up there but avoid the Kings side parking as those are reserved for the apartments nearby. So parking is a snap. Once inside, you get the feel of warmness and coziness. We walked in around 8:30pm expecting the bar/dining area to be packed. The dining area had a wait so we glanced over to the bar and noticed a few empty chairs. We sat down and were greeted with a smile from the bartender. Very friendly and patient. She handed us their drink menu and I was feeling a bit brave to go off the beaten path of beer. After she recommended a few of their signature mixed drinks I chose the Caddy (Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka, fresh squeezed lemonade). Mr friend opted for a girly drink of Brandy Alexander which he insists is a manly drink. Anything with cream is not a manly drink...end of story. Looking over their specials menu she then handed us their normal-war and peace sized menu. Like I heard, their menu was extensive. It was a battle of hunger. Do I go with a burger, chicken sandwich, salad (no shot), an entree...so many choices but I can eat only so much (and it's a lot). The bartender warned us of their larger portions. We opted out of the apps and stuck with just getting a main course. I went with the veal cutlet sandwich (panko crusted top round veal cutlet, fontina cheese, grilled red onions, grilled zucchini & balsamic spread; served on ciabatta bread. It comes with their house fries. My friend went with the Farmhouse Salad - roasted chicken, chopped iceberg, roasted cashews, walnuts, pecans, bacon, apples, chopped egg, raisins, tomatoes, croutons, onions; tossed with honey mustard). After a couple of more "Caddy's" our meals came out. When they say large portions, they weren't kidding! My sandwich was huge and absolutely delicious! The veal was tender, the toppings weren't overwhelming yet flavorful, the bread was crunchy on the outside (toasted) and soft on the inside. The fries were nearly the best I have ever had (thinly sliced with great seasoning). My buddy enjoyed his salad. The bartenders were attentive and asked a couple of times how our meals were. They are super friendly (and good looking to boot -- the female ones). The bar area has a few TV"s and it's decor is excellent. I was very surprised with the meal, service and prices (a little higher than I expected but well worth it). I think I have found my new hangout. This is my first time here. Is a nice location with ample parking. The host had a great smile and with great energy she received us. The server was nice as well and attentive. But, the place was really cold and loud. We had to wait for the food unreasonably amount of time. I had the lunch special (Short Ribs and Shrimp) and was a very small plate (it looked like an appetizer). It had a nice flavor but it was so disappointing to see that small plate in front me. Took my mother here for a birthday lunch. I was so embarrassed at the food, price and lack of service we were given. Hardly any patrons were at the restaurant during the time we went so I don't know what the big deal was to get our waitress to ask us for a refill on drinks or even ask us how our food was because I would have told her that it was absolutely horrible! it seemed as if they were all occupied at getting ready for that night's menu or something; I'm not sure. This is the second time I've been to Delicious Heights and while the first time was ok (food was good, service was ok), this time was a huge disappointment. It took 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order. We put appetizers in at the same time with one server, and while they brought us our drinks it took at least another 10 minutes for us to have our order taken. That would have been forgivable but a second server came to take our order and things got confused. We gave our order and after all the tables around us got their appetizers AND meals, 30 minutes later still no appetizers. We said something and after another 10 minutes finally got our appetizers. We finished those, saw our meals come out of the kitchen and be sent back in because no one had gotten a salad yet. After an hour and a half we finally got our meals but never once did we get asked if we were ok and the manager didn't come over even after the server realized things were going wrong. Our second server hurried from the table several times and we had to call out to them for basic things like spoons and ketchup. All in all, especially for Mother's Day, this was a big disappointment. This place is wonderful. The restaurant itself is really nice. The bar especially is a nice hangout. The food is very good and came out pretty fast. The buffalo cauliflower is the best I've had. I decided to get chicken fajitas but asked for lettuce wraps which was no problem at all and my dinner was just perfect. That carrot cake is also amazing! Home from Chicago and I needed a late lunch. Didn't want to travel far so I grabbed my son and headed downtown to Delicious Heights. We walked in well after two. The place was mostly empty. Rare burger and fries for me. Fried calamari for the boy. Cold Stella for me. The food came out quickly. The calamari was ok. Pretty chewy with a serviceable marinara. My rare burger sadly, was medium. Fries were terrific. Our server disappeared at this point. I believe she had a friend in a nearby booth. Being home in NJ Thanksgiving weekend for my 30 Year High School Class Reunion I had to meet someone in the middle of where I was staying and where they lived. This was their selection. Located in a Kings Shopping Center off the beaten path, was invited to dinner there this evening and with a name like Delicious Heights I had absolutely no idea what to expect. Let me first start out by saying this is by far the dumbest name for a restaurant I've ever heard. It does not however seem to hurt business as this place was absolutely packed to the rafters. A very popular bar that was still going strong at 1AM and restaurant where diners can choose from a huge menu of just about anything from basic wraps and burgers to steaks & Various other entrees or specials. A nice touch of high tech back lit menus for both the wine list and the dinner menus made reading the menu quite easy. Only two of us for dinner so we certainly didn't get an opportunity to try all the various menu items or appetizers but will give you as always an honest assessment of what was sampled. After waiting about 50 minutes for a table (Told 20) we are seated in the dining area which is not large. Some tables but mostly leather couches on one side booths on the other. Bar area vibrant with every type of beer known to man, tables to sit if you are lucky enough and a pretty good bar staff handling the demand for drinks at a brisk pace. Waiter was fast to us for drink orders and to give us a rundown of the menu make some recommendations and so on. Started out with Panko crusted shrimp in peanut oil $12.00 Large shrimp that were more like a beer battered dip which was entirely too heavy. Shrimp were clean and fresh inside but the over abundance of batter did them no justice. Our waiter recommended the Bourbon Glazed Short Ribs $23.00 Slow cooked finished on the grill with our bourbon glaze; served with macaroni and cheese and choice of any other side loaded baked potatoes here. This comes with choice of house or wedge salad. Jameson Chicken $20.00 -Panko crusted chicken breast over sautéed broccoli; served in our Jameson whiskey chicken sauce and brown rice pilaf. The salad itself was your typical wedge but the dressing both the creamy blue cheese and crumbled lacked any type of substance or great flavor. The Short ribs were actually excellent. Two Giant melt in your mouth short ribs with a really nice glaze that kicked this into a really good place. Unfortunately the two sides were awful. The baked potatoes loaded was large and would have been good if it weren't Ice Cold also the Mac & Cheese was thrown together hap hazardly and was also on the cool side. The Chicken was once again over done with coating but again the whiskey sauce was pretty good. Broccoli was a bit under cooked which appears that they can get the meals right but whoever is on sides in the kitchen needs to be replaced simply not up to snuff. They had a pretty diverse wine list with moderate pricing but not enough wines by the glass for my taste. My guess is with this crowd being in the 25-35 range that wine by the glass isn't their target audience as beers by the pint were flowing with great abundance. All and all it wasn't bad and the short ribs actually were really good, but I wouldn't be rushing back to this place anytime soon if it wasn't going there for particular reason etc. OK but no repeat for this tired traveler. read more

The food wasn't bad but it just wasn't good. Though there were wraps and salads on the menu, the entrees were not cheap. One of us ordered the steak ($32) and ate less than 1/4 of it. No one came by and asked how the food was or they would have seen this large man with an almost uneaten steak most way though the dinner. My husband had the steak fajitas and said he never had a time when there was so little meat that were fajitas left. It was served with a pile of rice! My steak salad was sliced too thick and on top of an "over-dressinged" salad (I had hoped it would be as good as the steak salad I always get at Grillestone in Mountainside). There was a dessert special of Blackberry bread pudding with gelato. We ordered one. It was tasty but blackberry bread pudding served with just 2 blackberries? We had to ask to get out water replenished and it came only after we asked a 2nd time. The place was very noisy, little kids screaming and rock walls. read more

Celebrated a relative's 80th birthday here for lunch. Service was absolutely wonderful! The food is delicious, plentiful, & reasonably priced. GREAT for kids (high chairs available) & large groups (we had a party of 12 incl 6kids) Lovely spacious atmosphere! Outdoor seating available (but bar stool seating outside only). Highly recommend the soup salad and sandwich combo. Came on a Sunday around 1pm and were immediately seated after making reservations only around 12pm. The five stars are for a truly RELAXING time and thoughtful caring service - They made sure our father/grandfather had a celebratory time. They presented the cakes we brought and (unlike a nearby establishment) graciously didn't charge a cake cutting fee. But timed it all so well and provided cutlery and plates. I work right around the corner and have been here for lunch and dinner. My preference? Lunch takeout. For lunch, I recommend the soup (french onion is good and available daily), the wraps and the chicken tenders (they aren't your normal tenders, but they seem to be hand breaded and not frozen). Prices are high, but that's not surprising in B Heights. A large order of tenders off the appetizer menu (enough for a meal) will run you $9. Soups are $5 each. Wraps and sandwiches are ~$8-12. The guys working the takeout side are quick and friendly. Sitting down for dinner is a different story. The food is still pretty good and the portions are still large, but you now have to deal with the service. Both times the waitress started out good but totally forgot about us when it was time to box leftovers and get us the check. The last time I was there, I had to go to the hostess station to ask for our check. The waitress came by 5 minutes later acting like it hadn't been 30 minutes. Maybe she just didn't realize? I have no idea, but either way we were running late and she certainly didn't help. Last time, we got pasta dishes (pesto and carbonara) and paid $13-17 for each. If you're going for takeout, note that you need to go into the takeout/catering entrance (by Kings and SamIAm bagels) and not the main entrance. Outdoor seating was nice in the Summer, but the small area and permitted smoking was an annoyance last time. Summary: The food is good, but you pay for what you get. Don't expect any good deals. What a find! A nice blend of your average American bar food and something a little more elevated. Some Asian influences like the Pu Pu platter appetizer and tuna burger and a bit of Italian in their chicken franchise. Very different in a great way! To start off there were some margaritas at the table and one pear-adise. The pear-adise was a perfectly strong pear vodka champagne concoction I'm looking forward to recreating!! We tried the Pu Pu platter and grilled vegetable Napoleon as appetizers, the steak salad, tuna burger, chicken franchise, and ahi tuna salad for entrees. Everything was full bodied in flavor and every bite left us craving more. We really enjoyed the service by our server Christine. Update: It's gone downhill. The waits are long for drinks and food. If you don't make a reservation, forget about getting a table during busy hours. Waiting by the bar is a fiasco and you can't get a seat. Servers are running all over the place. The food doesn't come out piping hot like it used to and the taste just isn't all that great. Had a lovely outdoor lunch on a recent Saturday afternoon, post re-opening. There are several areas where you can be seated, including bar tables under an awning, a sidewalk section with tables/bar tables, and more tables in the parking lot. Everything seemed reasonably spaced out and safe. Service was prompt and pleasant, and the food was delicious. The greeting was less than welcoming. Three people were behind the hostess stand and not one of them smiled or said hello when we arrived. After finally being seated, the server, Mary C was just about as unenthusiastic as one could possibly be. My brother remarked that his geranium has more personality and a better smile. The food was okay. The salads were overdressed, and we had asked for dressing on the side, and when we mentioned this to Mary C, she gave an eye roll. I cannot in good conscious give this establishment anything but a thumbs down. Does customer service count for anything anymore? I did leave a 18% tip because Mary is going to need a good therapist one day for all her negative energy. So I downloaded this app after over 5 years to write this review because I felt EXTREMELY disappointed with my service last night. My waitress did an amazing job with what she was given, and I appreciate her actually giving me the opportunity to speak up about my food, because the General Manager, Moe, treated my guest and I like garbage. As we were enjoying cocktails and appetizers, we were moved from one table to another without proper notice. When we asked later on into our service, he told us that we requested to be moved, which we DEFINITELY DID NOT. But he happily sat someone down behind where we were sitting as he removed our table. We were not given back utensils, water, or menus at this point, which left me very pissed off because Moe told us he would move everything to our new table. Our food came out and we were both underwhelmed, there being SAND in the scallops and shrimp pasta I ordered, and my friend's burger being dry and overcooked. My friend took home her food, but I only ate one scallop off my plate and was turned off so I said something to my waitress with which Moe again came out and offered me my dinner on the house with a round of drinks. At this point I was hungry and ordered salmon he kept suggesting I get instead it giving me the menu to look over. I ate a bit of it and ordered three desserts and another round of drinks because we had been waiting so long for the whole service. When the desserts came out, Moe comes out again to tell me that he is denying to serve me another drink because he was concerned for my safety. I was not driving... I was not drunk... I was angry... And for the General Manager of a restaurant that I spent that much money in, I felt like shit leaving there. When I received the check, my dinner was STILL ON THE BILL, along with one of the rounds of drinks he said he would remove due to "our misunderstanding". I don't care about the money, in all honesty, I cared about the service. I would never treat anyone like that anywhere I worked, it was unconscionable. I had not seen my friend in over a year, and that whole dinner service LITERALLY makes me never want to come back to Delicious Heights again. Sorry, this place is horrible. (Caveat: My experience with them is only via delivery) Their food is just plain bad. I ordered a pasta that was watery and undercooked, topped with rubbery (in both texture and flavor) sausage. Two days later, I ordered a pizza. They initially delivered the wrong pizza (they messed up my two colleagues' orders as well), but when my real order came, I almost wished it hadn't. It was somehow drenched in oil yet undercooked, with more rubbery meat and entirely raw onions on top. Oh, they have Vitamin Water. ++ I would only go here again if I was running away from a Jersey wolf hungry enough to be distracted by rubbery meat. read more

Large portions, only ate half of the meal. Husband ordered the coconut shrimp salad. Large portion, lots of avocado, ginger dressing a bit on the bland side. I had the chicken noodle soup, but it was pasta shells not long noodles. Needed a little salt but tasty. Service was lacking, especially since it was slow. This was my 1st time at Delicious Heights. It was a girls lunch out. There lunch menu was pretty large ranging from appy's, salads, wraps, burgers, fish, soups etc. I wanted a wrap and there were several that sounded good so I asked my waiter for suggestions. He suggested the turkey w/ Brie and lettuce and tomato wrap.or the sliced steak, jack cheese, guacamole, sour cream , chipotle sauce . I went with the turkey and Brie and my friend did the steak wrap. Both came w/ fries so we opted for there sweet potato fries. They were amazing! The fries were dusted w/ brown sugar! I could stop eating them!!! The wraps were delicious !!!! My daughter ordered there bacon cheese burger also w/ fries. The burger was cooked perfectly to order medium-rare the cheese was completely melted and crispy bacon lay on top! Lettuce, tomato , red onion came on plate . My daughter order a Hoegaarden beer w/ a lemon . They had a very nice mixture of all different kinds of beer! Delicious Heights has come a long way from being a little take out place.. and the location that once housed "The Alley" has also changed a lot! The portions here are insanely large. Be prepared to talk at least 1/2 of whatever you are eating home. I can say that the French Dip, Meatloaf, and burgers are all very good here.. those are what I've tasted so far. Food comes fast and the place is open relatively late. They did mess up our bill here- by a LOT ($20-$30 over or so..) so make sure you read what's going on. read more

Great new place, nice quiet outdoor seating as well as bar area with lots of tvs. Enjoyed the lettuce wraps, bean sprouts were a nice touch. Potato skins were also good. They had cheese, scallions, sour cream, and bacon. Half farmers salad was plenty of food in addition to appetizers. Really liked the small short ribs, good cole slaw, I'm a big fan of the sweet potato fries. Everything was well seasoned, got offered new teabags upon requesting more hot water. Very happy with the service, Erin made sure to check in with us even though we were basically the only people outside. Went here for a buddies 30th birthday and i must say that as an overall experience it was solid. The atmosphere is pleasant and the waitress we had was very polished and knew the menu well. The beer menu was very extensive, which was perfect for our crowd. I was torn between the ribs and the shepherds pie both favorites of mine, but in the end I had the danish ribs. They were really really good - i can't say they were fantastic because they fell just short of that -but it was a close call -if you like ribs get them -you will be pleased. Sadly I forgot to swap out my fries for sweet potato ones which I usually do, fortunately they were good so in the end all was not lost by that faux pas. For desert I shared the churros with chocolate dipping sauce -these were a bit on the weak side since they were more like mini cinnabons with Hershey's chocolate dipping sauce - it was fine but not worth ordering again. Came here for some wings during lunch time and ended up have the experience of a lifetime. Straight party in my mouth. I was at the Berkeley heights location and it is very nice and relaxing. I had the country salad with no avocado and omg was it everything I could have every imagined. Totally worth the $16 for a salad. Needless to say...I will be returning back! read more

Came here to sit outside this weekend and was glad to see it wasn't packed outside. They have a large outside area which is nice compared to most restaurants. The service was good and so was the food. I can't really rate the food though since I only ordered guacamole with chips and wings to eat. The guacamole was $14 which I found to be little overpriced for a bowl of guac. They did have peroni on tap which was a win for me! I would go back to give it a second try on a warmer night. read more
