I typically do take out here but every now and then, my partner and I will dine in. We were greeted by the server within 5 minutes and she let us pick where we wanted to sit. I've noticed that it's usually one server doing the entire dining area. However she was very attentive and our food came out very quickly. There were a lot of people at the time so we had to pick one of two tables that were cleaned off. We ordered garlic knots, spaghetti and Alfredo with breaded chicken. I always like the Alfredo and today was no different, the sauce was very thick and filling. The garlic knots were delish however I think they are making them smaller now because they are pretty tiny now. The spaghetti was nothing to write home about. There was a lot of pasta water and it left much to be desired. The tvs were on and as I mentioned before there were a lot of people in the dining area so it was a little lively. One Saturday afternoon found us hungry in Norfolk. We had our friends with us and their 3 teen granddaughters. Finding a mutually agreeable spot with 7 people, some pickier than others, is tricky on a good day. Just imagine how much harder it is during a pandemic where some restaurants aren't even open and if they are, do they have enough room for 7 and if they meet that requirement, is their menu paired down or full? You wouldn't think it would be so hard to find a dining spot even in a pandemic in Norfolk because there are so many spots, but, it was more daunting than normal. After a 10 minute Yelp search, we found Del Vecchios. I was never so excited to find a place to eat as I was that day. We did find that half of their dining room was closed but luckily enough we were the only inside diners. Now, due to our frenemy Covie, we had to place our orders up front, everything came in take out containers (including condiments) and we had to pick up at the counter too. Our party took up the only 2 tables they had but no one seemed to mind as most of the business we saw was take out. Our party of 7 had varying tastes and desires for lunch and despite that, we were all able to find something delectable to dine on. I'm a little late in my review but in these pics you'll see some of what we dined on. I will say this, my cheesesteak made quite an indelible memory as being one of the best I've ever had. I visited twice. They were busy, so there was a little wait time to get my orders. The staff were working hard behind the counter. NY Style Stuffed Pizza- Meat was good. It was salty as expected from all the meat it had, which made it heavy in flavor as well as weigh. You will need beverage to wash it down. If you are hungry, this will resolve your craving. Quick delivery and food arrived fresh and hot. I had a heart transplant at Santera Heart Hospital and it was my mother's birthday while she was here visiting me in the hospital. She wanted something nice/fancy to eat. She was really craving seafood, but I was like you really want that delivered? So she changed her mind. This place was recommended by all the hospital staff as they claim they order from here all the time. My Mom ordered the eggplant parmigiana and I ordered a while cheese pizza. My wife and I traveled to Virginia beach for vacation this fourth of July. We always try to find the best pizza joint in the area, and let me tell you, Del Vecchios does not disappoint. I ordered the fried calamari and the linguine with white clam sauce. My wife ordered the new York stuffed meat pizza. The calamari was delectable. It was lightly breaded and literally melted in my mouth. The linguine was sublime, and the clams were cooked to a tender perfection. The portions were very large and filling. The stuffed pizza was a masterpiece. My wife enjoyed the pizza very much. Our waitress,Hannah, was friendly and attentive to our needs. The atmosphere is very inviting and comfortable. We will come back someday soon. My wife and I discussed and both agree, Del Vecchios is the best pizza/Italian restaurant at which we have ever had the pleasure to dine! New York style pizza, Alfredo pasta, and spaghetti are delish. If you like your pasta saucy like me I would recommend ordering extra . Not too crazy about the Chicago style ( I didn't like the ham in the pizza). The ppl are nice and they have gotten my business twice (I've been here almost 3 weeks now) so I'd say this place is a go. Update 7/28/20 I went and ordered the bacon cheese fries cuz I'm a chili cheese or bacon cheese fries kinda girl. I would not recommend. I used to go here all the time when I was a student at ODU (who didn't?). So for old time's sake, we decided to grab dinner on a Saturday night. THIS, though, is not the beloved Del Vecchios is my past, THIS is way better! Who knew they put in a dining room?! We started with garlic knots, which were good and well priced for 6. Hubby started with a Caesar side salad (plenty of dressing that came on the side - which is as it should be - no one likes their salad drowning in dressing the way some places do). I had the caprese, because that's how I roll when it's on the menu. Theirs was fantastic!!! The fresh mozzarella tasted homemade (are they making it now??) and the balsamic drizzle was so tasty. Not in the mood for pizza, Hubby and I had the stuffed shells and the kid went with the spaghetti and meat sauce. All were tasty and the portion sizes were good. Fast, friendly service by Meghan (who was handling the dining room by herself and killing it!) and good reasonably priced food (did I mention they have a dining room now?) ensures that we will be back soon! read more

Del Vecchios is one of my favorite pizzerias in Norfolk, VA (and they have a lot to choose from...trust me!) Whenever I'm in the area, this is my go to place! They have a daily lunch special where you can buy a slice of pizza or two and a salad (the Greek is my favorite) for a very reasonable price. This is definitely a local dig and being across the street, it pulls in a lot of Old Dominion University students and professors. When I've gone with a group of my colleagues, they've always been prompt and gracious. They are always hopping but we never have to wait long for our meals. The above average pizza spot- there are two sides to the restaurant... one side is sit down and order. The other side is take out. From the take out side, there are signs indicating this. I found it difficult to discern this from the door I came in. One of the servers pointed me in the correct direction. I ordered a pepperoni pizza, garlic knots, and a house salad. I was disappointed in the garlic knots- in watching the cooking process, they were precooked (stored in a clear bag near the oven) the reheated when ordered. They were brick hard on the bottom and too tough to eat. On the 14" pepperoni pizza, there were 12 pepperonis (yes, I counted)... if there were a next time, I would order double pepperoni. The radio was blaring in the corner of the restaurant. It was very difficult to communicate with the staff. read more

Can't say enough nice things about the quality and speed of the service. Our waitress was phenomenal. And let's talk about the value of the food. Standard fare but at 1000pm on Saturday night when you just want a nice place to sit with a glass of wine and baked ravioli - a solid standard meal is knocking it out of the park. Lots and lots of piping hot food on every ordered item. 2 courses and drinks for 3 people for less than $20 per person. With leftovers. Ordered takeout because I just really needed some spaghetti today. Delivery was faster than expected. Spaghetti with meat sauce was good not great. The sauce was typical marinara with meat but the pasta was over cooked. (Not crazy overcooked but just enough where it's kind of breaking on you when you try to pick it up with a fork) meh.. still edible. I wasn't going to get the garlic knots because the spaghetti already came with garlic bread but following the review of someone else, I decided to try it. What a huge mistake. First of all, it comes in a styrofoam container that leaks everywhere because the garlic knots are sitting in a POOL of oil/butter. Super unappetizing looking. The knots themselves are not very soft, they are very chewy as if they are over cooked by a good few minutes. (Kind of like the pasta). The worst part is, it doesn't even taste like garlic. I see inside the oil/butter pool there's some garlic sprinkles but it has no taste. It didn't taste better dipped in the oil (and that's saying something because anything taste better with oil/butter.) I am a huge fan of all things carbs and will pretty much eat any bread. I did not enjoy these much. I actually preferred the cheap garlic bread that came with the spaghetti more. (Just your typical sub roll cut in half and smeared with garlic powder butter) The garlic knots also come with marinara sauce and it was packed in the same styrofoam container as the knots. This caused the sauce container which is plastic to melt a little. The small salad was good but very very small. Some lettuce tips were black so I threw those out. After I threw those pieces, my salad was like maybe 10 leaves. Their Italian salad dressing was very good and looks homemade. That was probably the most impressive part of the meal. The spaghetti was $8 so it definitely is economical and I might order again when I'm craving cheap pasta but I do not recommend the garlic knots. 1 afar f read more
