Got to love pizza. I'm a petite girl and this jumbo slice was legit two of my faces. The pizza slice was amazing and the crust was the right amount of crust. When you know, you know. Service was good. Inside was a quick order and go eat somewhere else or stand lol. It was that tiny but the pizza slice was with it!

Delicious Late Night Bite. Open passed midnight, large portions, great pricing, and right around the corner from many hotels. After driving 8+ hours and checking into my hotel late, I was looking food and the clerk recommended this place. Obviously, I took the suggestion. I was able to walk to the establishment in less than 10 minutes. Being one of the only places open passed midnight, it was a bit busy and only one worker was present. Decor gives hole in the wall. Not much room inside to dine in so many of the guests took their slices to-go. When I saw how large the slices were I realized one slice of pepperoni was gonna be plenty for me and I was not wrong. Finished the night with a satisfied tummy. If I was In town for couple more nights, I would've come back for another late night bite. Thanks to the hotel clerk for the clutch recommendation.

A bucket list item for all foodies! An awesome pizza eating experience that is one of kind with its huge slices, jumbo breadsticks, cheap prices, and unique locations. Super fun interior, quick service, and perfect lunch/dinner spot to have for a memorable experience. For this Benny's location, parking is the only downside. You'll most likely have to park in the parking garage which will only cost you a few extra steps. And after eating this, you'll need those extra steps. There is street parking but depending on day/time, it'll most likely be occupied.

Nothing super special about the restaurant itself! Your typical pizza place with a small area inside to sit down and eat. There is also some seating outside. It is in downtown, so parking could be a little inconvenient. But the pizza? Man oh man! The biggest slices I've ever seen in my life, and it was so good! 1 piece is like 3 regular pieces! They sell by the slice, and they also sell 28in whole pies. The cashier was your typical 20 something year old guy, so customer service was neither here nor there. But we were able to get our food super fast! Would definitely return for a quick slice or a pie for a large group! I saw some previous reviews done in the summer where folks complained about the heat. Currently it's about 60 outside, and the restaurant was comfortable. I'll have to take notes about how it feels depending on the next time I visit! There is one of those huge ovens in the front, so I wonder if that contributes to the heat factor especially in the warmer months!

I can't say enough great things about Benny Damato's! It is a small hole-in-the-wall in Downtown Norfolk with a small pizza and drink selection, however, the options are your typical go-to. Be advised, each slice is huge and absolutely phenomenal! Staff is friendly, and if you are looking for an interesting pizza, this place is a must-visit. Place is small, and you get lucky if you find seating (small area inside and outside), however, I highly recommend it to anyone in the area to stop by.

We were walking down the street and wondered where the great pizza shell came from. Looked on the map, this was the only pizza place nearby. Went in, that was the great smell. Got a slice each, they are huge. $5 for cheese $6 for pepperoni or sausage and one slice does you. By far the best pizza I've had lately. If I was local I'd make it a regular place. Put sunglasses in the pic for reference to size of the slice.

Pizzas big, service good, music bumping. Gotta love the place. 6 a slice scares some, but I'm getting pizza as big as my head

Great find for local pizza! Great value too, especially for a tourist area! I'm not in the area often, but I'll definitely be heading back when I am!

Single slice pepperoni pizza, it is massive, and a steal at only $6!

This place may look like just a hole in the wall random pizza joint, but for a mere $6, you can literally get one of the best original NY style slices of pepperoni pizza I've had in a long time. The slice is massive, it literally takes up two plates, and one slice is likely what most people would need to be full. The cashier was friendly, it only took about five minutes for my slice to heat up, and then I was on my way. Definitely a great choice for lunch in downtown Norfolk. There are also a few tables inside should you choose to eat there in person, and I saw them taking a whole pizza out of the oven that was literally almost the diameter of a car tire. Super chill vibe!

I generally have a good experience at Benny's. It's a small pizza spot with limited indoor and outdoor seating. The customer service was okay. We received an additional slice of pizza since the cheese pizza was burnt. It was not the best I've had there. I had the pepperoni slice. Disappointing but not horrible.

10/10 pizza slices were huge, fast & delicious! The outdoor area needed some cleaning, but we enjoyed the outdoor eating area!

The space is intimate and cozy with side-by-side counter seating right in front of the open kitchen -- perfect for watching the chefs at work and adds to the whole experience. We started with the ensalata di Luce and it was fresh and flavorful, a great balance to the rich mains. The pollo con strati was perfectly cooked and the lobster gnocchi was phenomenal -- rich, indulgent, and definitely worth ordering a side of sourdough bread for dipping in the sauce! To finish, the cheesecake with berries was a delightful end to the meal -- creamy and just sweet enough without being heavy. Service was attentive without being intrusive and the ambiance complemented the food beautifully. This place is small and fills up fast, so reservations are a very good idea, but snagging a seat at the counter made our night feel special and lively. I was told that there was no availability for the evening and I should try to walk in for bar seats. Upon arrival, the bar was not busy so we took three seats and noticed that the table behind us never got sat the entire time we were there. To me, this is a pretentious restaurant that falls below the bar in every way. Second time dining here and would not return because service from Branice C. was a C- in her caring that she was even at work, to the upcharges for extra marinara sauce to go with the greasy overbreaded calamari appetizer. The oil saturated flavor was almost nauseating. Please change the oil in your fryer! Prices were not excessive but the upcharge for using a credit card was. Who really walks around with $300 cash in pocket to pay for dinner without a credit card fee. JUST ADD IT IN YOUR MENU PRICES!!!! The Boar Ragu was truly not boar but probably run of the mill ground beef and the four tiny slices of steak on the Caesar salad was a joke. There are so many other lovely restaurants along this block that this is a skip right past for the future.

Our server wasn't too attentive. I would have liked a second glass on wine when dinner arrived. I ordered the marinated chicken breast with added pesto and provolone cheese, very tender, juicy and it had a great pesto flavor! However, the Greek potatoes, as my side dish of choice, was disappointing. The potatoes were over cooked, over seasoned and over oiled. My other choice of a side was steamed broccoli and it was very fresh, hot and (beautifully green ) served with roasted whole garlic cloves. My husband ordered the ziti Fellini ( with smoked tomatoes, chicken, mushrooms in a cream sauce). He enjoyed it. The place looks like a well loved neighborhood charm. We started out with the Cesar Salad and an order of the Meatballs as an appetizer. They were kind enough to split the salad for us and without having to ask, always a nice touch. The décor is really interesting, as it has a secret dining room behind a bookcase and all of it is beautifully assembled. Menu is decent, with many typical Italian favorites. Starting with their arancini, it was decent. The temperature was warm, but not as hot as it should've been considering we expected it to be freshly fried, plated, and served. The jam under it was a little too sweet as well, but the texture and flavors were decent. Next up was their Cesar salad. This was my starter salad and it was quite substantial. The lettuce was great - very fresh and crunchy! The dressing was excellent, clearly made in-house and it was so very tasty. The combo of both was excellent! Lastly, I chose their chicken marsala for my entrée. It was plated quite nicely, looking very tasty. The chicken was breaded and appeared lightly fried, as the batter flaked off. The sauce was a little too sweet compared to my liking... I realized that marsala wine is sweet, but this might have been reduced or sweetened a little too much. The greens were inedible - they were way too vinegary. I took one bite and choked trying to swallow it down. Their crispy smashed potatoes were very nicely done. Overall, this entrée was just 'ok' but nothing special, which I found disappointing, as I could have ordered a pasta instead. Service for our dinner was nice and friendly. Prices are on the high end for the quality of the food preparation, which is also disappointing. So, over the past couple of months I've been to Norfolk twice and last time ate at Saltine downstairs in this Hilton and this time ate upstairs at Varia and both menus are amazing, service was adequate, and execution was lackluster - This tells me their food program is poorly managed. I left out the review of my dinner guest's pizzas... They eat got a pizza and each was completely over-cooked!!! I like char'd crust on brickoven pizza, what I saw (and what they explained) wasn't a simple char, it consisted of hard, over-cooked cheese and toppings and frankly if I got either of those pizzas, I would've sent it back. Given the absolute beauty of these eateries and amazing menus, they need to work on the management component and they'll have truly amazing joints, but not until then.
