So we thought we would try something different and tried del taco for the first time today for lunch. The drive through was fast and the gal helping us was very friendly, that's the 1 star. As for the food, unfortunately that gets negative stars! The chicken is all pressed meat, the burrito meat tastes like food you would get in the school cafeteria but worse! It tasted like canned chili. The crispy chicken and quac burrito was also pressed chicken and just full of lettuce. And who presses meat into the shape of a chicken strip and markets it as one? They should be ashamed of themselves. It felt really crappy to Immediately throw $40 worth of food in the trash but some things shouldn't go in your body. I remember Del Taco from the days I lived in Los Angeles. They have the best chicken soft tacos! I ordered a combo meal for both my husband and I and I also order their new habanero chicken taco. The flavor of the chicken was what I remembered. It is a very simple taco with flour tortilla shell, grilled chicken, lettuce, shredded cheese and mayo. I don't come here often, and after doing errands I went there to pick up some chicken tacos and a chicken burrito. When I got home I opened the bag and saw this. 1st the tacos were swimming in sauce, almost no lettuce and only one piece of chicken with few little crumbs of chicken that most likely was from the bottom left over cooked chicken. The tortilla on the burrito had mold. Also, they didn't give me my receipt but I have payment record thru my credit card. So not worth coming here, I'm so disappointed and disgusted. My wife and I went through drivethru tonight and were treated horribly. After we got home, we realized that my wife's salad was not in the bag. My wife drove back to the store to alert the crew that we had a missing item. My wife asked if her salad was still there. Manager Kayla stated "Oh yeah, sorry." Kayla then picked up the salad and dropped it. Kayla then told my wife they'd make a new one. A male crew member made a new salad then dropped it on the floor. BEWARE of this Del Taco. Their prices are almost double what they are at any other Del Taco. I paid $2.39 for a bean and cheese burrito with no cheese. All other Del Tacos charge $1.49 for the same thing. When I questioned the worker she said it's a franchise and the owner sets the prices. But I wasn't in the mood for tacos or burritos so Del Taco was defiantly in my sites. I wanted a "Burger" and "Chilli Chees Fries" and I quite enjoy both at Del Taco. I was in the area running a few errands and out of my options for near by eateries (some of which im tired of eating at) Del Taco provided a great escape so I went. Service 5/5 Food 5/5 Cleanliness 5/5 Overall Experience: The place apparently had a face lift, it was pretty nice. They added more little sayings and quotes that may or may not be true. But who am I? Im the customer and I don't care about the company hoopla, I want to eat! So I scanned the menu and then settled on what I wanted. The #4 Double Del Cheese Burger combo ($7.19) with my basic french fry upgrade to chilli cheese fries ($1.30) with Pittsburg tax @ 9.0% added to my subtotal it came out to ($9.47) not bad for what I consider a pretty good meal overall. The place was spotless, there was always a worker tending to a table as soon as someone finished their meal. The service was "Top Notch" even with the GM walking to each table asking people how they felt about their meal.."Bravo" I've never even had this kind of service in some high end establishments at times so that was nice. Now on to the food.. The Double Del Cheeseburger - "Almost" every major burger joint want to copy that.."2 all Beef Patties, Special Sauce, Lettuce, Cheese, Pickles, Onions" thing that Mickie D's has going on on some sort of "Bun" well, the "Double Del" is their version (so to speak) of the "Big Mac" if you want to say that. This burger came to me very fresh and well put together. Not too much "Special Sauce" a non soggy tomato, crispy shredded lettuce and I held off on the onions this time around. The meat patties weren't salty and overall balanced the burger all together. I wouldn't mind having another one soon! The Chilli Cheese Fries - They were good! Not a overwhelming amount of chilli. Nice melted shredded american cheese and crispy crinkle cut fries. Simple yet tasty. I will not compare these to my "ATF" place to get chilli cheese fries from. But they hold their own, they stayed hot, wasn't oily in taste, and I enjoyed every bite. Will I go back? Yes, Del Taco is a hop, skip and a jump from everything convenient for me. Plus it's one of the few places that stays open late on those "Boozy Nites" I tend to have at times. So a nice alturnitive to "Running for the Border" or "The Originator of Breakfast All Day" In Conclusion, Del Taco aside from the name has more to offer. They are few and far between and that is what makes them special in my opinion. This Pittsburg location sits right off higway 4 and Century Blvd in the same strip with tons of other competitors. But they hold their own. I would say this place is the perfect pitstop place either for a quick lunch, dinner after work, or just for a chill moment with cool people. Great place to eat!! I needed to find a restaurant where I could get 30 tacos for my daughter's class potluck, by 10am!! I put the order in and called to confirm and the manager kindly provided all the details I needed. My order was made fresh upon my arrival and I was able to get the tacos my daughter's school without any issues!! I even ordered some extra goodies for myself as I love Del Taco's tacos al carbon!! I come here frequently for the Taco Night deal which is: 3 tacos for $1.50 and valid from 2pm-9pm at this store. I have been getting subsequently more and more fed up with the service every time. This time I came in on a Tuesday night to purchase my tacos. I arrived around 7:55pm and pulled out with my tacos around 8:15. It shouldn't take 20 minutes to get my food. If this were the first time I wouldn't even be upset because obviously stuff happens. But this happens to me almost ever time without fail. This is rather unreal to me. My wife makes our order for myself, her and my daughter. About half of the items use "Refried Beans". So she makes the order & pays. A minute later she is told that they are out of refried beans... What? I cannot believe this, I am thinking; a fast food Mexican Themed restaurant out of one of its main ingredients? So we decide that we do not want to eat there as they cannot furnish what we ordered. She asks the cashier for her money back. This person goes to what we assume is the shift manager. After a bit of back and forth, she finally is refunded her money; we paid cash and showed this person the receipt which was no more than 3 minutes old. They acted as though we were robbing them! After my wife received her money she noticed that one of the people in the cooking area was stirring something & asked if those were beans? No answer. We have patronized this Del Taco, in this area, as there are very few in the Bay Area region. the last three times we had ate there the food requiring refried beans were cold but we tolerated it as we have always felt Del taco to be superior to Taco Bell.... I'm going to agree that this place seems very clean and efficient which is good for a fast food place. I really enjoy the chicken tacos with the special sauce they use. On the same note I am not really a fan of the beef in burritos but their small soft tacos are pretty good. Honestly I don't come here quite as much as the competition because there is something odd about getting fries with my taco but sometimes I do get the craving! If I could give them zero stars I would. My boyfriend and I went to the drive through and we tried to place our order.... not only did the girl rush us, but she didn't know anything about the menu. Anything we ordered she questioned like we were ordering for her or something. Not sure if she was new but, if thats the case please retrain her, take her out of the drive through, and give her some knowledge about the place she's working for.
