i gave Taqueria Salsa a taste another chance after a couple previous visit before, but it missed the mark this time fr my friend and i ordered a couple quesadillas and a super burrito, and they had good presentation; inside ambiance was nice, but wait be ame very long! quesadillas were surprisingly small and mostly just cheese with very little substance, especially for the price point. da portions honestly felt more like kids meals than full entrées the bigger issue was the service experience: our order was accidentally given to another customer, which mistakes happen, but the interaction afterward felt dismissive, and efforts were low to acknowledge it, and the wait became long for us disappointing overall this time around, but i hope management takes this feedback and make these quesadillas better and the attention to customer service a priority in their location, because the boy was let down this time super burrito (7.5/10) well built burrito, with carnitas, and delicious flavors inside: could've used more protein quesadillas (5.5/10) very small portioned quesadillas slices, with very low cheese in it, but tortillas crispy. my friend hungry still tho not the best 5 de Mayo, but the burrito was pretty good, and i'm thankful for the dinner! thx, Taqueria Salsa read more

Salsa Taqueria in Antioch is hands down my go-to spot when I'm craving a burrito. Honestly, I almost have to stay away from this place because I'll end up going too often. I don't usually like paying over $10 for a burrito -- I know I can get one around that price in Concord -- but I'm not always willing to make that drive unless I'm already out there. So if I'm in Antioch, Brentwood, or even Oakley, this is the spot. If you want one of the best burritos in the area, I have to recommend Salsa Taqueria. The customer service is always friendly and attentive, and the service is fast considering how busy they get. They can whip up a burrito in about 10-15 minutes, which is impressive because this place is almost always packed -- and there's a reason for that. You can order to-go or dine in, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere, especially on Friday and Saturday nights -- even Sunday evenings. It's just one of those local staples people keep coming back to. My personal recommendation: Super Burrito, shredded chicken, light crema. If you want a more car-friendly option, go no beans. Disappointing experience. First let me start by say the food is DELICIOUS! Salsa became one of my favorite local restaurants for Mexican food during the pandemic. Huge burritos, fresh chips, large indoor space and several outdoor tables. However, my experience today, was short of stellar. My son had the cheese quesadilla with rice and beans, while my mother had the 2 enchilada dinner also with rice and beans. I ordered the cheese enchilada with a chicken taco served also with rice and beans, but asked if I could make my enchilada chicken. The woman said yes and didn't even mention am on charge which I was expecting. Even better! We also ordered chips, which is an extra charge, and they give you 3 small plastic containers for salsa, lemons, radish, or the pickled peppers & carrots. I returned to the counter to ask for additional containers for salsa, to grab my own preferences, but they quickly said, we already placed containers on your tray with the chips. This caused me to pause, comprehending what they were saying, but not understanding why they didn't just provide the additional tiny salsa containers as I had requested. But nonetheless, I went to my mom and grabbed the 1 remaining unused container, and pour out the green salsas that we didn't not like, to then return to the salsa station with 2 containers. I filled them with two salsas of my choosing, but realized I also wanted to grab a few radishes and I had to have some peppers and carrots. So I asked for two additional containers. The woman I asked, then turned around to tell another employee that I asked for two containers. Again, I paused, thinking hmmmm. We're having a lot of dialogue for two tiny plastic containers. But they handed them over and I proceeded to our table. Finally the food arrives. My son's plate was perfect, quesadilla, rice & beans (equal proportions) and a small salad. My mom's plate was also perfect two enchiladas, rice and bean (equal proportions) and a small salad. Then my plate arrived. . . chicken taco, enchilada, beans, half a spoon of rice, and no salad. My first thought was, I should take a picture of this and post it, but I then thought, no, I'm sure it was just an oversight. So I walked up to the counter and asked for half serving of rice to add to my full serving of beans. The woman I asked then turned to tell another employee, who then turned to tell one of the women preparing plates, who then turned to tell another woman who had just come from the kitchen area, I assume cooking the food, and then one of the earlier women then turned to tell another woman at the register. Again, that's a lot of dialogue for half a serving of rice to accompany my full serving of beans. The woman then turned to me and asked what I needed, I again shared my request, she then went to the stack or receipts/orders, retrieved my order slip, made a comment to another employee, then told me to hold on. This same woman then proceeded to walk away from me to begin helping another guest at the register. I stood and waited, noticing that not one of the 5+ employees in the work area was preparing a half serving of rice. I then asked, politely, is there a reason why I'm waiting and could someone help me. Another women then walks up to tell me the portions are equally distributed for all orders, to which I responded, I understand that is the intention but I just need a small portion of rice to mix with my beans. She continued trying to over explain that the portions are perfectly added to all orders, I then shared that I just needed a tablespoon or two of rice, tiny portion to go with the tiny portion on my plate. She continued reiterating the equality of all portions, to which I responded, thank you, but I really do not want to debate the issue and would happily return the dish if that was the preference. She then quickly said, ma'am I can just give you the rice. I then said, okay thank you o appreciate that, I just don't want to argue. She then responded yet again overexposing the portion sizes. At this point I simply responded, ma'am, I will return the dish. Which I did. I understand that inflation is high, tariffs are ridiculous, and that we are all affected but the constantly increases costs. However, i would rather you tell me there will be an up charge for the additional plastic containers and an up charge to add chicken to my enchilada, than for you to then skimp on the portion of rice as if it would go unnoticed or as if I should be okay with it since you choose to add the chicken and provide the additional containers. **** BEST crispy tacos EVER **** Let's taco (lol) 'bout it! The best part of a crispy taco is the shell. Taqueria Salsa is the spot for really good tacos. The shell is stuffed with your choose of meat then there is cheese and pico de gallo on top. The cheese is very creamy , buttery and has a unique flavor. I love it, it's the only topping that's needed add extra cheese and top with green salsa. Yummmy I don't know many places that serve crispy tacos that's crunchy down to the last bite. What! that's an amazing taco. The filling doesnt fall out the bottom, it's not wet or soggy, it's simply the best. Wow, I tried a new item today at Taqueria Salsa. The "Sonora Style Burrito". I have to say, it was MUY DELICIOSO. I have a photo to share; apologies that it is a bit sloppy as I was mid-devour when I decided to capture the insides (carne asada, pico de gallo, whole pinto beans, and a whole jalapeño pepper with a little bit of cheese) on camera. I have been ordering from this restaurant since the early 2000's. However, I recently ordered a dozen in a half of enchiladas for Fathers day only to find that there were only 12 enchiladas in the small pan which is what prompted me to open before leaving. I order chicken and beef, totalling 68.00. First off, never have I received a rolled enchilada that resembles a taquito not an enchilada. They were not labled beef and chicken they were all thrown into a small pan. I called Sarah who is the manager on Monday after Father's day. I left a message for her. She never returned my call. I called back on Wednesday we spoke and she said she would call me back which she did and I was told that thier was nothing wrong with my order as she spoke to the person who helped me. Wow is all I can say. Please be ware of ordering from this establishment. They do not care about their long time customers. I will also be filling a complaint with the better business bureau as I have video of what all transpired and never told her that because I thought she would at least apologize for the enconvience. Food has gone downhill. I've been coming here for 15 years, always get a chile verde super burrito. Today when I got the burrito I noticed off top that is was extremely pale looking inside. No sign of the salsa anywhere. I proceeded to take a bite anyway, and when I did the meat taste like boiled pork without seasonings. NASTY!! The place is bigger than it looks from the outside. There's two entrances, one for pick-up and the other for the main dining. The restaurant is so festive, very colorful decorations. When you walk in you order at the counter and pay for your food, then you can sit at any available table you choose. The food is delicious. I ordered the Carne Asada dinner plate. The plate was huge. My steak was cooked perfectly, it was tender and flavorful, not dry at all (as some can be cooked dry). My friend ordered a veggie burrito which I kept looking at because it looked good as well. That burrito was fat! We could not get enough of their chips and salsa. It tasted so fresh. The price for the amount of food you get is just right. The staff were friendly and polite. Oh I almost forgot when you come to the restaurant don't forget to order a Michelada they make it very good and serve it looking pretty in a tall glass. Came here with the family for lunch after my son's football game. We ordered a plate of carne Asada, A few tacos and a burrito. My stomach has been bothering me so I asked for the broth from their tortilla soup. Didn't even think of asking how much they'd charge me I mean it's just broth right?! Food came, food was ok nothing special. The broth was just right for my upset stomach so I thought I'd ask for one to go. When I went to the counter I asked the lady if I could have one more if the broths to go, she then asked the lady that took our order previously how much she had charged me and she said $9.99. 10 bucks for broth really?! I don't know what happened or if they changed owners or cooks?! This has been a longtime favorite of mine, but I haven't gone here for awhile. This time I ordered are usually favorites, but the quality and taste of the food is not the same as before! Las Mulas was not really cooked as usual and bland. The tortillas usually golden and cooked like crispy- but this time is seemed like it was microwaved or looked not cooked as it looked like a raw soggy white tortilla look. It was soggy instead of crisped up. That was really disappointing. And with this dish they had the whole beans instead of refried beans which I like. I write that on here to remind myself and others who rather have refried beans to ask for that substitute instead. 2.5 rating ( before it was a 4). The steak super burrito was okay. My daughter even said, " Their food is just not good anymore! But they are the only place good around here!" The chicken tacos were bland but still good (3)when you put the salsa on it. Even the usual Mexican rice tasted different as that was my favorite rice of all around here! They used to have green (I think chiles?) in it which I liked and I didn't see it at other places. It was bland and no taste. The green chicken enchiladas also had no taste. It could have more sauce too. 2.8 stars I don't know what happened, but maybe it was just a fluke or busy day for them? I still gave an acceptable 3 stars as the food was just okay and I am hoping it was just an off day, bc I know they are usually good and a staple in the community for many years! So I hope the owner sees this and realizes we noticed a difference and maybe figure out what is going on and get it back on track! The reason for the 3 stars was the service. Not customer friendly at all nor interested in making customers happy or feeling welcomed. My bf simply asked if they could do a steak and shrimp burrito. Although I've been eating here for years and do recommend them, this last time I ordered food, the mole on their famous wet burrito was on the sweeter side and not to my liking. I'm not sure when or why they changed the recipe but this sweeter version of their wet burrito isn't what I've come to love all these years.
