This place is a gem. Authentic food. Fast service with affordable pricing. The decor and ambience takes you back to mexico. Wide variety of food options for everyone. Plenty of seating indoors as well as outdoors. Avg table size seats 4 but I'm sure you can have tables moved to accommodate more. This is an order at the counter and seat yourself establishment, which is great as this makes things go by quicker. I've noticed that La Costa is almost always crowded, especially at their downtown Oakley location, and it gets even busier on the weekends. Because of that, I usually opt for takeout instead of dining in, just to avoid the long wait times and packed seating area. On my most recent visit, I ordered the super burrito with carne asada. Unfortunately, it didn't quite meet my expectations. The steak was a bit overcooked, which made it tougher than I would have liked. While the portion size was generous, the overall combination of ingredients didn't come together very well in terms of flavor. It felt like the elements were there, but they didn't blend as cohesively as a great burrito should. I've definitely had better burritos at other spots, where the flavors are more balanced and the meat is cooked just right. That said, La Costa's popularity shows it has a strong following, but based on this experience, I'm not sure it would be my first choice when I'm craving a really satisfying burrito. read more

Best food i ever had at a good price I ALWAYS GO HERE FOR MY LUNCH BREAKS!!! while my order is quite simple its always done so quick and well! I did have a incident where I was charged extra but after I called it was all taken care of and I got charged the right amount and given the correct meal! The service is top notch at this place, they noticed I was walking out the door with my leftovers and someone said, "hey boss, need a bag". Not only is the service great but the vibe of this place is insane. Decorations everywhere, fountain outside, I loved it all. The food is great as well the prices are reasonable the portions are big. Only complaint is I wish I could have a real plate when I eat in not a Togo container. Side note I've been told this location is nicer than the other locations. Can't wait to come back. read more

Love this place. There are more Mexicans eating here than anyone else and that's because it's authentic. Food comes out incredibly fast and is amazing. Huge fixing bar with multiple salsa, chile, limes, pickled carrots, it's almost a meal in itself. Good prices great service and fantastic food. My co-worker today has talked about this place and he went there again today to grab some food. I brought my own food for my meal break, but I did want to try their horchata. This review is solely based on the drink I ordered, and nothing else. Horchata: This was a really delicious and refreshing drink. It was a bit warmer today, so this ice cold drink hit the spot. The horchata was not overly sweet nor was it bland. It was also made well, since I didn't taste anything grainy or powdery, which I usually get with cinnamon. Speaking of cinnamon, enough of it was there to show its profile but more overwhelm you. And for the price it costs, this drink was definitely worth it. It's a busy day during Father's Day. You line up to order your food and then you find a table. There is plenty of seating inside and outside the restaurant. The menu expansive. We ordered a chicken quesadila, asada burrito, cheese nachos, and pastor burrito (which they forgot). My husband had to go back and order it, we were hungry and he needed to wait for his order even more. There is not enough chicken in the quesadila it's mainly tomato and lettuce. The cheese nacho was unfortunately not worth $6. The cheese is not melty, it was just hard. I did like my asada burrito, it was flavorful. read more

First let me say that I've never eaten at the restaurant, only take out. Secondly I always get the same thing. Here lies the problem. There's no consistency. I've had some amazing enchiladas, rice and beans here in the past. This last time was not good. The portion was great but my rice was dry and crunchy. Beans were good. Hot, creamy and delicious. The main attraction, my beautiful green enchilada's stuffing with cheese, ice cold and covered in a vinegar based green sauce. Not at all the same as the last time. From the outside this place smells incredible and looks incredible (the location is really great, I'll admit). Once you're on the inside though, it feels more like a chain restaurant than I'd like, and honestly for the quality of the food and the money spent I'd say try a different Mexican place nearby - unless you want to pay more for sub-par food. I wish I could recommend this place, but it feels like you're eating Taco Bell - which is fine if that's what you want. But why not just go to Taco Bell at that point? It was my first time having chile verde and man it was delicious! The pork was tender & the sauce was good; mild sourness. The beans were actually very good, and I'm not usually too fond of beans. The rice had good flavor, but it did seem to leave a good amount of oil once I finished, so it wasn't the healthiest thing in the world, but it also wasn't quite a pool of oil. This place used to be good, the best authentic Mexican food even when before they upgraded to the new building. They were cheap, and consistently good. Now, they are more for speed than quality. We come here because they are really close to us, but we haven't been happy with our food in the last year. They are very inconsistent. The food rarely taste the same and built the same each time we order. A lot of times, the rice of our burritos are on one side. Other times, we order super burrito, but we get regular burritos. But I'm updating my review because I recently got the same order, and the carnitas wasn't the same (it was dry, not as juicy as last time). And this means the quality isn't on point. It was still good but it wasn't as good as the previous. I do love the friendliness of the staff. Service was good & quick. Found this spot while driving around, little did I know most of my friends from this area knew about it and had nothing but good stuff to say.
