    Taco dinner

I am updating my review from 15 yrs ago. I have eaten here several times since my last review and I must say the food is back to being delicious again. The service however can be a lot better. Our waitress wasn't very attentive, but that can be an easy fix by management. I love how they expanded the restaurant even bigger and there are 2 different dining areas you can be seated at.

You truly don't know what you got till it's gone. Born and raised in Pittsburg and didn't appreciate the Mecca right down the street until I moved away. Now I'm a state away and somewhat glad or else I'd be eating here frequently. The best parts about the New Mecca: local eats, several options, have it your way, and the best bean dip! They had great service, checked on us frequently, let us customize our dishes, and were very patient with the family and two loud and wild toddlers. The tastes and vibes were great, no place like home with the good eats of the New Mecca.

I love the vibes in this restaurant. It definitely felt like walking to an establishment with lots of history. If only the walls could talk! We came here with a larger party around 9pm. We got seated quickly and were given lots of great suggestions on what items were most popular. SO and I got the flautas plate and one of the combo plates. Everyone loved the flour tortilla chips and the bean and cheese dip and salsa we enjoyed from the beginning of the meal. I'd love to come here again and try more things!

When my friend and I go out to lunch, he always insists on coming to this place. I don't know why. The service was fast and friendly but the food? Not good, not good at all. There's two sides to the restaurant - the booth side which has some nice wooden booths and the other side which is, minimalistic to put it nicely. No sign of it being a Mexican restaurant with a minute amount of Mexican decorations, no music and/or TV stations. The chips are bite-sized which is nice, the bean dip was solid as they put red sauce and cheese on top but the salsa was mediocre. He ordered a combo meal, which he liked. I ordered the compadre meal. The presentation was sloppy as the burritos (I didn't know they weren't wet or covered) weren't rolled with any sense of pride as they were loosely rolled then thrown on the plate. Inside there was shredded chicken (dry), pork or beef (dry) and chorizo with egg (very dry). The burritos were simply the filling and tortilla - no cheese, no sauce, no pico, no meat drippings, nothing - just dried fillings. I should've requested some sour cream, queso dip or more salsa to put on them but I didn't. The beans were okay and the rice was slightly better. The rice was the best part of my meal by default, because everything else was just shy of terrible. They have canned sodas. I had a MUG root beer. It's a 30 minute drive to get here and for the life of me, I don't understand the appeal. I'm sure my friend will insist we come here next time and if I can't convince him to go somewhere else, I'll try something else on the menu. Maybe then I'll find something that resembles good Mexican food. If it was just me, I would actively avoid this place.

This place is always on our "stop" list here We love the feels and it is a stable in the community. Collective agreement is that the place has changed over time. The food is not what it used to be and was disappointing:( It was great to run into one of our favorite servers and she makes the experience. The ambiance has changed over time as well

I've been introduced to New Mecca through work catering event. This was my first timing dining in and everything is delicious. The old school diner charm with all the classic Mexican dishes you love. My favorites are the crispy beef tacos, bean dip and enchiladas. I've always said you can tell how good a place is by how cheap there napkins are. This place does not disappoint. They open at 10am and are closed on Wednesdays.

I heard about this restaurant from a local FB group in Solano County and since I had some business here in Pittsburgh CA I decided to come and try. I ordered the Chicken Taco, Chicken enchilada, and Chili Rellano with rice and beans. The food is exceptional with very large portions. I was so impressed that I ordered the Super Chicken Burrito to take home. I will definitely bookmark this for a future visit.

The worst food I have ever tasted this is supposed to be egg rancheros the eggs were swimming in this enchilada sauce

The worst food ever not worth the money this was eggs rancheros eggs, overcooked and too salty

I had a fantastic experience at the new Mecca Cafe! The waiters are incredibly nice and friendly, making you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. The place is spotless and very clean, which is always a plus. They also have bathrooms that are well-maintained and clean, adding to the overall comfort. It's such an amazing little spot with affordable prices, making it perfect for a quick and delicious meal. Today, I tried their grilled cheese, and it was absolutely amazing! Definitely a place I'll be returning to. Highly recommend!

I love this place, but this visit absolutely sealed the deal all over again…read more We ordered the carne asada super burrito and it was perfection. It was packed with flavorful, juicy meat and had the ideal ratio of beans, rice, and cheese -- every bite was balanced and satisfying. No skimpy filling here. Just a beautifully built burrito done right. The chips and guacamole were just as impressive. The chips came out hot, thin, and perfectly fresh -- that light crisp that shatters just right. The guacamole tasted bright and fresh, clearly made with care and real ingredients. We also tried the pastor torta, and wow. It was loaded with tender, well-seasoned meat, and the bread was soft, fresh, and toasted perfectly. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside -- exactly how a torta should be. Every component worked together so well. And the piña agua fresca? Super fresh and refreshing -- the perfect complement to everything we ordered. We come here often, but this time we switched it up and tried the burrito -- and it did not disappoint. This is easily one of the best taquerias in town. Consistently delicious, generous portions, and clearly made with pride. We'll definitely be back (soon!) to try the quesabirria. So grateful to have a spot like this in town.

I forgot to ask for salsa, but I didn't even need it. DELICIOUS! Also ordered a pastor torta (that was eaten later in the day). Was STILL delicious even-though the bottom was soggy. I'm sure if it was consumed right away the bottom would not be soggy. Try this place out. You will not be disappointed. We'll be back for the other items on the menu!

Thank God for another meal, because this place definitely did not serve one made with care…read more The experience started off confusing before we even got the food. We pulled up around 12:50, and the sign on the door said closed, while the lighted sign said open. Mixed signals right away. We literally had to call just to find out if anyone was even there. I ordered a super burrito wet, half green and half red sauce. I was told what it came with, but when I got the food, key ingredients were missing. No real sour cream, no proper pico de gallo, and barely anything that made it feel like an actual super burrito. I also ordered another super burrito and asked for ranchero meat, because that is clearly something they sell there. If you sell ranchero tacos, then obviously ranchero meat exists in your kitchen and should be an option in a burrito too. Instead, the burrito came in a box looking like they already knew it wasn't put together right. When I got home and opened it, I was honestly disappointed. The photos speak for themselves. This was not a super burrito. It was a sloppy tortilla overloaded with rice and meat, with almost nothing else inside to balance it out. No beans, barely any vegetables, no real pico, and no care in the way it was made. It looked like somebody just stuffed whatever was easiest in there and called it done. And before anyone tries to say I didn't ask for certain things, you can literally see tiny pieces of tomato in there, which shows some kind of veggie mix was supposed to be part of it. But overall, it was still mostly just rice and meat. That is not what people expect when they order a super burrito. The wet burrito was just as bad presentation-wise. It should have been smothered properly, with that melty, flavorful, put-together look. Instead, it looked rushed, sloppy, and halfway done. Even the cheese on top looked like it was thrown on without any effort. This whole meal felt like it was made with no pride. Confusing service, missing ingredients, weak execution, and burritos that looked more like a struggle meal than something worth paying for. Grateful to have food, always. But I would not come back for this. Here's a shorter, sharper Yelp version too: Pulled up around 12:50 and the sign said closed, but the open light was on. We had to call just to see if anyone was there. That should've been the first warning. Ordered a wet super burrito, half green and half red, and another super burrito with ranchero meat. What I got was a sloppy mess. The photos speak for themselves. These were not super burritos -- they were mostly rice and meat stuffed into a tortilla with missing ingredients and no care. No real pico de gallo, no beans, barely any balance, and the wet burrito looked rushed and poorly finished. The cheese on top looked thrown on, not melted and smothered the way it should be. One burrito even came in a box looking like it had already fallen apart. If you sell ranchero tacos, then ranchero should clearly be available as burrito meat too. No excuse there. The places was alone for it to be lunch hour . Not a lot of people Overall, this food looked and tasted like it was made with no pride. Grateful for the meal, but definitely not worth the money.

Our food came out in record time and was actually delicious! Believe it or not it tasted even better than it looked and it looked really good when it arrived. I ordered the cheese enchiladas and they were some of the best I have had In the Bay Area. Sadly most people can't even make a cheese enchilada but this place made it perfect! I can still taste that delicious sauce on the enchiladas. My hubby got the chicken quesadilla and although it looked very simple he said it had great flavor. We will come again soon!
