They used to be the bomb but they have changed, shrimp burritos are very watery with less shrimp. Fish tacos are now dry and not half as good as it used to be. Carnitas crispy tacos were a dry wad of meat. The last few times was not enjoyable at all. Lastly carnitas up in this area are terrible, instead of being small chunks of pork cooked till brown on all sides like they do on the peninsula they cook big giant chunks of pork with hardly any brown crust which is where all the taste is. This place does not know how to make gorditas. I ordered 2, one chicken and the other chicharon. I grabbed the gordita and it fell apart right away, it looked like they put all the filling in between 2 thick masa tortillas, the chicharon was not crunchy at all it was more like big chunks of pork pieces, the presentation was sloppy and messy. The only thing I care about finding in my area is a good, affordable breakfast burrito and I found it here. Carnitas Tijuana has what I currently consider to be the best breakfast burrito that's actually less than $10 in the Pittsburg/Antioch area, which is impressive considering it used to be cheaper and has avocado in it. I'm torn on whether I consider it to be the best breakfast burrito for under $10 in East Contra Costa County since I like El Farolito in Concord a lot but this is geographically much closer to me so it has an edge in convenience. Burrito size is hefty and about the size of my forearm, which I like. What separates this from El Farolito's breakfast burrito, other than ten miles, is that Carnitas Tijuana opts to use hash browns as their filler starch of choice instead of rice to soak up the oils and juices from the protein. I like potatoes so I have no problem with this. I don't think it inherently makes it objectively better or worse than El Farolito's breakfast burrito but for me, it does make it slightly less heavy so I don't completely hate myself as much. From what I could see, everything is freshly made to order and isn't sitting out on a heater like most taquerias I've been to. This means the wait for food can be longer, especially if you pick chorizo for your protein, but since I've always gone when there's no line anyway, it never mattered to me. Long story short, this is my new go to spot for breakfast burritos for the time being. Good stuff and very affordable. That's all I've ever wanted from my area. read more

They sell it by the pound and their combos come with rice, beans, tortillas, red and green salsa and (sometimes) chips. It's also VERY affordable. CARNITAS: Perfectly crisp and salted. TORTILLAS: Handmade! Flour. SALSA: Comes in red and green. Very acidic, to cut the rich carnitas. Not too spicy if you really love heat. RICE AND BEANS: Rice is fine. Beans are DELICIOUS. I could come here just for the beans, which are so rich and savory. Pittsburg is a sleepy city in East Bay but the Mexican food is excellent here. I still received them in my burrito and I couldn't even enjoy it by picking out the cilantro because im allergic to onion. This was a waste of money!
