Terrible Staff. Very rude for literally no reason other than they hate being there in the heat or something. Terrible customer service and food has gone downhill. So sick and sad of these places I've gone to for decades turning into absolute failure. Needs a whole new staff and cook but honestly who wants to even work there. I understand why. I used to be a long-time customer, but I'm tired of this place. When ordering, it seems that they've been bothered. The chicken fried chicken sandwich is off the chain, but it's a flip of a coin if you actually receive a sandwich that has been made correctly or a chicken breast that has been fried to a rubbery consistency. It's like they have become lazy and just don't care. I've been eating there off and on since I was a kid (I'm 58 now), but the last 3 times the sandwiches just don't meet the actual requirements to be called a chicken fried chicken sandwich. Either close the place or hire people that make things they way they are supposed to be made. It's too bad. The banana shake tastes just like banana laffy taffy. The chef salad is perfect. The ultimate heart stopping meal, fries everything at Del Rancho! The star is the steak sandwich supreme, a HUGE chicken fried steak sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and miracle whip. I'm not a huge CFS person but they do it very well here and sometimes I do find myself craving it! The mini version is still big, and the regular is enough for two meals basically. I always order the mashed potatoes and gravy and cut off the huge over-the-bun parts of the CFS and dip it into the mash. Like I said, heart attack here I come. The fried okra is always awesome too! And I was surprised by the chef salad, it comes with cherry tomatoes, hard boiled egg, ham, cheese, and the honey mustard dressing is PERFECT. Seriously. I love a good homemade honey mustard and theirs is Dijon-y and tangy and great! The staff has always been super friendly too. Staff evidently keeps the phones off the hook because I have called a total of 11 times in 3 hours and busy every time. I ordered an order of Fried Green beans for almost $5.00 an order just to get all the way home and look in the bottom of my bag to see a grand total of 6 green beans the fry container. We pulled in and waited almost 45 after ordering before we received our food, and even after it was ready, the carhop kept going from vehicle to vehicle trying to find whose order it was, taking even more time. I live in Owasso and never get Del Rancho bc we don't have one. I've been so excited about our trip to Norman solely for the fact that there is a Del Rancho here. This is my favorite fast food restaurant ever. I wish there was one in Tulsa bc it would do amazing. It's so good. The onion rings are heavenly. A classic joint that has been putting out good food for years. I don't know that I've had a better chicken fried steak sandwich, and they have kept up the same quality for a very long time. The chicken fried steak sandwich is LARGE, as in it hangs over the bun. Splitting this sandwich is entirely appropriate. The meal with fries is around $9.20, with onion rings it's closer to $10. But, it's a large piece of steak, and it's a lot of steak. You get way more steak than breading. The breading adheres to the sandwich well, and it maintains its integrity as you are eating it. The sandwich doesn't fall apart despite the mayo and veggies. Also, it just tastes great, very classic representation of a chicken fry. Service isn't always the fastest if you go at high traffic times, but that's what you get for quality. It takes time, and it's certainly worth it. Been coming here since before I could drive, and I'll continue to do so. read more

The batter on the sandwich taste like dirty grease.. I took one bite and spat in in a napkin and almost gagged, right in my car. I just Pulled into my favorite location on 59th and Santa Fe. I have never been disappointed here. Like one of the staff told me at one time, "This is the best Del Rancho... And I found that to be very true. Even more so now... I drive to Norman about five times a year. Before I head back to Dallas I ALWAYS stop at this Del Rancho and pick up supper. I always get the Steak Sandwich Supreme with BBQ sauce, fries and Dr. Pepper. To be fair, I always almost kill myself trying to drive and wrangle my SSS at the same time. OK highway patrol LOVES me. Is the place beautiful? Hell no! It's a DRIVE-IN. They call the show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives because there's a general understanding that some places are not meant to be aesthetically pleasing like The Palms. I know some reviewers like to look down their noses at places based on their on preconceptions of what good food "looks" like, but I prefer to focus on how it tastes. Went with 2 of my sons to get the steak sandwich supreme. It had been years since I had one of these behemoths and it was just as good as I remembered. We split 2 of these sandwiches since they are so big with part of one going to their mom. Here's a hint--get a side of gravy use how you wish with the sandwich. We had a medium fry which was plenty for all of us--would have been better had the fries been salted. If you want a blast from the past, this is your place----it's a drive-in, no dining room. The portion is HUGE - It would take me 3 episodes to finish it - but so worth even nibbling on a part of it and walking away. I heard the portions were ginormous so the boo and I split a Chicken Fried Steak Dinner with corn nuggets and a dinner salad. We also ordered the cheese fries. The cheese fries were piping hot and fresh. No cheese whiz (thank goodness, I was holding my breath as the boo opened up our take out box of fries) just good ol' melty cheddar cheese *drools* The corn nuggets are not corn bread hush puppies. It's basically a fried ball of creamed corn, which were very tasty! The salad wasn't all that great-- wilted lettuce. Ranch dressing was OK.
