Fortunately, this restaurant is within walking distance of several hotels, so when I found myself here for a business trip, I decided to check it out. It didn't disappoint! At first, I thought I would just order takeout and head back to my hotel room, but when I saw a bunch of folks in the bar crowded around the TVs, I decided to stay--turns out the Women's College World Series game of OU vs. UT was playing. What an enthusiastic crowd warming my cold cold one-time college softball-playing heart! I found a spot in the bar and checked out the menu. Having been traveling all day, I was exhausted and ready to unwind. The drink list is pretty decent with beers, wine, and cocktails. I opted for the Moscow mule (I need my vitamin C, after all). I was originally thinking I'd order fish or a salad, but then my eyes wandered over to the appetizers...whoops. Instead of salmon or greens, I opted for the Loaded Queso, which is basically the Oklahoma version of a Bob Armstrong (where are my Dallasites at?) with guac, sour cream, and ground beef. I added some of the sweet and tasty salsa, mixed well, and enjoyed a lovely dinner that had most of the major food groups. I'd say it was pretty healthful, right!? Dakota was very accommodating and didn't judge my questionable dinner choices one bit. Hadn't been here in a long time so decided to give it a try. Remembered it always being halfway decent. Wasn't as impressed this time. Their prices were super cheap but you got what you paid for. My wife's chicken sandwich had decent chicken but way too much sauce and no other fixings. I got the bow tie chicken pasta and the chicken in it was terrible! Straight out of a frozen precut bag it tasted like! Their layout of the restaurant is nice but it's time for some new carpeting etc...... just dirty.... Won't be going back. read more

We had a great meal here this evening! Food was tasty and the drinks were cold. I got the ever popular (at least for me) Cowboy Burger with fries and a side of Heather's Mac and Cheese. The lady picked the California Club. Both were exceptional. Atmosphere was good with many OU faithful grubbing out before the game this evening. It was a very pleasant evening. Yelp asked me for pictures of the dishes and, as you can tell from the pictures, our food was absolutely horrible . Yelp might need to prompt me earlier about pictures because, that burger kept calling me to take another bite. So if you're into happy plates and full tummies, we recommend this Interurban location. It's been awhile since I was at Interurban, I met a buddy for lunch. The Salmon with Lime Rice was very good.

We continue to be disappointed in this Norman restaurant. The bar selection is poor, the service is poor, and we seldom choose to eat there. However, we ordered take out today, picked it up, and had to pay a $10 fee for ordering online for two orders of Teriyaki Chicken. The chicken breasts were dry and very overcooked, the pineapple was small and a joke, there was very little sauce and a very small helping of rice, certainly not worth the $17.99 each that we were charged. Since the owner lives in Norman just a couple of miles away, you'd think this would be the signature restaurant. It's not the same restaurant that it was many years ago. We wasted our money today and won't go back. read more

We stopped in around 3:30 on a Tuesday afternoon and were the only customers in the restaurant. That typically means inattentive service in our experience, but that wasn't the case at all. Service was pleasant and prompt. I had the pulled pork enchiladas and my better half ordered beef fajitas. Both were served with light and crispy tortilla chips and a serviceable fresh salsa. My dish was solid and had more protein than I expected. The beans could have used a little more flavor, but all in all, the dish was good. My partner's fajitas were well seasoned (I stole a piece of his beef for purposes of analysis, of course). The fajitas were a little light on the onions and heavy on the peppers, but that might just be a personal preference. We did not have room for the offered desserts, but the tequila bread pudding caused us to pause and consider. We'll likely return the next time we find ourselves driving through Norman. read more

The most mediocre food from the most mediocre ambiance to the worst and heartless service ever. Grant it 100% we came in late towards the end of the night. But honestly was not impressed with the level of food service or staff. They seemed to be phoning it in or were miserable with working there. I felt like I stepped into a 1980's version of Applebees and got cafeteria style food. Hope it gets better but would not recommend. read more

This used to be a fantastic Norman dinner destination. Not sure if it's Pandemic-induced resource issues, or if there was an ownership change, but it's not worth visiting at this point. Had a dripping wet sog-rag of a pulled pork sandwich, and the enchiladas were like industrial rubber boots. Additionally, none of the staff (host, server) made any attempt to be pleasant. We were rushed through by everyone, and it seemed like none of them had worked in a restaurant a day in their lives. Won't be coming back. Miss the old Interurban. read more

The grilled salmon with lemon caper butter sauce had a delicious sear and was cooked perfectly. The sauce was full flavor and was on the savory side with the brine from the capers and acid from the lemon. The broccoli and carrots come steamed without a lot of butter or heavy seasoning, which I love! The carrots are a bit al dente texture which is how I prefer them. The wild rice plays very well with its plate mates too. I gave the honey blond beer muffin with cinnamon butter to my Dream Man and he assured me they were absolutely on point. The honey-pepper bacon burger is my husband's go-to and it never disappoints! He loves the chips and a side of ranch to round out his burger dream team. The ambience is simple with neutral colors and lots of comfortable booths with high backs that create more privacy for your table. We waited for a couple of minutes to be seated with no one at the front desk, but I think they may have been short-handed. Our server was the one who also seated us and he was definitely hustling to cover all the bases. Probably just an off night with staffing. Overall, great dinner out! read more

As always, good food, nice atmosphere, and great service. We lost our Interurban in NW OKC and so we were very happy to come to the one here in Norman. We had cajun bow tie pasta, chicken tenders, and fish tacos. We did wonder if the larger portion of the pasta was a bit smaller. But it was very good! Our waitress was sweet and wished my husband a happy Father's Day. Never to be left out, I encourage everyone to try their beer muffins and sweet butter. If you are too full, get them to go! This place has really gone downhill. It used to be my favorite place in Norman. If you get an order to go, you absolutely must check it right there because they have gotten 10 of my last 12 orders wrong. And not just like they didn't give you sauce, but like a bacon burger with no bacon or a side salad missing or a premium side they upcharge you for not being included, like their macaroni and cheese. 3 different times recently they have brought the order out to the car without the drink and it is up to me to fact check whether I was charged for it on the receipt, point it out and get them to go chase it down. It comes off as almost to the level of intentionally withholding food from curbside customers. I doubt incompetence that consistent would not be noticed and fixed by management. To add to that, I routinely come on Tuesdays for their burger night, going here for about 6 years now (used to go in but curbside since COVID). I work late now so I make a to-go order usually for about 8:45. Close to closing, but its never been an issue. Now if you call in an order they tell you the kitchen closes at 8:30 and gaslight you like that has been the policy for years and hang up on you. If that is the actual policy then fine, but don't lie about it so you get off the rest of the night earlier. My past 200+ orders have never had a timing issue but now you have a years old policy... sure ya do. I'm tired of supporting a local restaurant week after week that couldn't care less. Get your act together. But when they actually do what they say they will the food is good, that's why I've given it this long. read more

I used to come out to IU and have always enjoyed the experience. I haven't been since the pandemic. Currently I'm here and was seated very abruptly. We all looked at each other in shock. The waiter came very quickly and asked for our drink orders so we asked for a drink menu. The only one provided was for alcohol. I ordered the famous Chelsea's chicken without vegetables after being told it was carrots and broccoli. He clearly asked if I was sure. I said no vegetables and his response to everything was "gotcha". As you can see I got vegetables. As far as c19 we are in a moderate range. No social distancing. We were sat within 2 ft of the diners to our left. No barriers and no one wearing masks. I understand it's not mandated. I will be dining somewhere else until the C19 is under control. The food was of standard quality. Mashed potatoes tasted rubbery so I didn't eat those. My last note is he rushed us to order and rushed us to finish so he could flip the table. Water glasses were not refilled. Maybe my expectations were too high for a restaurant that used to have great service. read more

Good food, but on the pricey side for what you get. Everyone's favorite was the Okie Fries, which are their version of Loaded Fries with pieces of Peppered Bacon and Monterey Jack and Cheddar Cheese. The Fries were flavorful by themselves and the Bacon and Cheese made them awesome! Our entrees were Teriyaki Chicken, Cuban Sandwich, Okie Pig Sandwich and Heather's Macaroni with Grilled Chicken. All were good, but just that and left us wanting considering the prices. The service was also good and the décor simple, but nice. My first time at Interurban was enjoyable. The service was fantastic. To start there's complimentary chips, salsa, and QUESO. The queso is more of a spinach dip with extra cheese. I liked it but the boyfriend didn't. To each their own. I ordered the Salmon Wedge salad. I didn't realize this new trend literally means a wedge of lettuce, with everything sitting on top of that. If I would have known I wouldn't have ordered it because who wants to cut a wedge of lettuce with a butter knife?! That's my fault though for not knowing. The salmon was grilled perfectly but the salad was lacking. I felt like the salad could have used more of the toppings (cheese, tomato, and onion) Each entre comes with a beer roll and is served with cinnamon butter. It's been quite a while since we've eaten at the Interurban in Norman; I now remember why. First of all, our server Peyton was wonderful. She was attentive, polite, and was very candid. The menu is something else. My wife ordered the interurban club which on the menu sounds wonderful. The bacon was "well done", not well made. It was rigid, as in not pliable. Crispy bacon is great, but only because usually you can bite it; this was the consistency of a tongue depressor, and almost as easy to bite into. The ham looked like spam, fried almost black on one side and artfully folded in a manner that made it also the consistency of the bacon. The cheese was supposed to be cheddar and Swiss, but vaguely looked like a mixture of cheese whiz. Essentially, it was pretty bad. Peyton understood my wife wanted well-done fries and did her best to "pick out the darker ones". I ordered the Crispy chicken tenders and fries. "Tender" should not be part of the description of them; perhaps crunchy chicken moisture suckers would be more appropriate. The breading, well it was hostile. Overly spiced, and it had the texture of ground glass and sand and once it choked any semblance of flavor from the chicken it rendered it devoid of any moisture which also sucked any from my mouth as I tried to chew it. It's also interesting how their advertisements say they have Pizzas and Italian food; I beg to differ. I would suggest that rather than eating here, you go find a Sonic or Del Rancho and have a meal that probably is more eatable though probably just about equal in non-nutritional content. read more

A party of six without masks were seated ahead of us. When hostess returned, I asked why she didn't require masks of them. "Oh, I don't know anything about that," she replied. I looked behind us, and more were arriving without masks so the four of us left, not to return again. Interurban obviously is disregarding the city's mandate. Excellent Food. Honestly we almost left after waiting for service (after being seated; the hostess was spot on) for at least fifteen minutes with two or more waitstaff passing by a few times. Right when we stood up to leave, a nice waitress appeared. I ordered a mixed drink. It came with no cocktail napkin or garnish of any type. As stated, the food was very good. I know, I know, 5 stars is a lot. But I'm basing it off the service and meals I ordered and it was all incredible. We ordered the seafood queso, which used to be an appetizer and is now served with a meal but for a small up charge you can get it. It's not super cheesy but a yummy, creamy shrimp and mushroom bisque. It was delicious. I ordered the Dixieland Pasta (Cajun) with whole wheat linguini instead of bow tie. LOVED that option. The pasta was incredible. Better than the Cajun pasta I've had at The Shack and BJ's. It comes with this muffin type bread that literally tastes like a muffin meets cornbread meets beer bread meets a pancake. It is heaven. The server was so accommodating, showing up with a to go box before I even requested it and also an extra muffin for my leftovers! He also boxed up our queso and chips for us. My first stop in OKC, this place looks like a modern diner with an expanded menu. Decent prices and good selection of appetizers and sandwiches. They had a Sunday brunch buffet, but it really didn't look that appetizing and reminded me of a cheap Vegas breakfast buffet, heatlamps and all. The trick to coming in on a Sunday is to come in before the Church rush, as when we entered there were plenty of seats open, but a huge line as we were leaving an hour later. I ordered the famous Original Okie Pig sandwich, which was just ok. It says that they have been serving the same recipe since 1976, but it seemed to be quite simple and a little dry for my taste. We also ordered the queso which was good but not standout great. Overall a decent place but nothing I'd write home about. read more

We decided to give this location another try, since it had been a while. We had been running nonstop, all day and were really hungry, and it was conveniently located, as we headed home. It was even nastier than the last two times!!! Regretted the choice almost immediately, but we're trying to maintain some optimism, and give them an honest chance to redeem themselves. Our waiter was possibly new to waiting, or maybe just did not care if he gave any kind of good service. He was not attentive, did not remove the dirty plates, did not even offer us straws with our drinks. It took us a minute to decide what we were going to order, because the selections were not great. We ordered the Southwest Egg-rolls for an appetizer, they were cold, greasy, falling apart, and served on wilted and rusted, shredded, iceberg lettuce. We waited for over 30 minutes for our food, and there were no more than a dozen customers, in the entire place. I had a spinach salad with grilled chicken that was so dry I could not choke it down, and the spinach was slimy and not at all fresh. My husband ordered a seafood pasta, that was $13, but basically got a nasty 1/2 portion, which was fine because it was nearly inedible. Neither of us were able to eat even half of what we were served, because it was disgusting. The food was subpar quality, poorly prepared, and poorly presented. There was no sense of pride or work ethic displayed by any of the staff that we saw. I am not sure how they can even stay open. Most of the staff seemed more concerned that they only had two hours left, before closing. When asked if we were ready for our check, our waiter asked if we wanted any desert to go, and nearly took the water I was drinking, right out of my hand. We then waited for him to retrieve the check and credit card for over 15 minutes. We had view of him, and he was not waiting on anyone else... We observed tables and booths being wiped down with the same nasty rags, and not even entire tables, but just half. We will not be giving this place any recommendations (maybe warnings) and will not return. We typically acknowledge great food and service, in raving reviews, and we are known to tip quite well (sometimes more than our bill) because we appreciate the hard work and effort that goes into a quality eatery. Burgers are even better 1/2 price, and best when they are also good: Interurban has all (3) going for it on Tuesdays! For $7, the burgers would be great from a shack on the side of the road. But when you put the whole package together: friendly staff, good sides and a comfortable, clean and spacious atmosphere, on Tuesdays ordering a burger almost feels like you are stealing. The beer menu is decent and they offered 2 hoppy beers, one being the ever present in the midwest,tornado-alley area, the F5.) The other was juicy, New England IPA that escapes my memory right now so I will need to look it up and amend it. It was 2 words and the first word started with a B. Definitely B word. It was on the sweeter,hoppy side as I expected and found it enjoyable with my burger. I went with the Cheese and Mushroom burger with avocado added (if you have read my reviews before, you would see that I like this potassium-filled, "good fat" providing, fresh/soft, salty-food-fruit add-on on almost everything) and plain fries. I had many other options for sides but the other folks I dined with already ordered the fried okra (next time I will get that-- very good), and the sweet potato fries, so I went with the standard for comparison. If I do not get the okra side, I will get the borracho beans mostly b/c, well, I love beans almost as much as I like avocado. The fries were good but something that I would not order again there if only b/c the other items were more noteworthy. The burger meat was slightly charred on the outside, juicy throughout. Beef was flavorful without any added flavor other than the meat (and it was a large 1/2 of beef, maybe b/c OK is is so close to TX?) and the flavor from the toppings. I asked for 1/2 a slice of cheese and thus, did not drown the mushrooms once melted. The mushrooms were nice and crisp so likely they were not frozen or from a can, but rather fresh cut into large pieces. They have much more than burgers on their menu with "Best Mex", pizza, other sandwiches, steaks, bowls, bar favorites, etc...but I only had the burger and fries. I know, boring right? But I was in the mood for a good (and inexpensive) burger ;) And lemme tell you that I left there feeling like Butch Cassidy or the Sundance Kid, b/c I made out with a bank of a burger for $7 last Tuesday night! read more

This place had an okay salad but a pretty good pizza. I was there on a Monday, and it turns out that Monday is $5.99 pizza day. That's what makes this place a 4 rather than a 3. The fried pickle appetizer was nice too. Service was odd... generally it was pretty good with getting refills and the waitress being friendly... but near the end it felt like they were just too eager to take our plates and we kinda felt like we were being rushed out despite that it was early and the place wasn't crowded. read more

I had an average lunch at Interurban. They did some things right, some things okay, but nothing wrong. I arrived at Interurban around 12:30 on a Thursday. It wasn't very crowded, so I was seated immediately. My server approached and I had my water within a couple of minutes of being seated. So far so good. I perused the menu and went with the chopped salad and soup of the day: loaded potato. The food arrived after around 10 or so minutes. The chopped salad is large enough, certainly a meal salad. It is served with a BBQ Ranch, which is a combo dressing I usually like, but this one just didn't work for me. And, wanting a full chopped salad experience, I put it on the whole thing and mixed it up. So, that was a bummer, should have dipped. There is plenty of chicken, although that could have used some more seasoning. The veggies were fresh. I would probably get this again, but with a different dressing. The soup was far better. It wasn't as thick as some potato soups, which is fine. It had plenty of large chunks of potato and was seasoned very well. I typically need to add at least pepper to most potato soups, but not this one. No salt or pepper required. Interurban is a classic Norman joint with a standard American casual dining menu.
