While I don't know them personally, I will say that the people here must be great because they often donate pizza to our school which is just around the corner. First time there. We were looking for calzones. The service was great with fast take out at the counter. The calzones were hot and so full of cheese and toppings. We had an original with Canadian bacon, Italian sausage, mushroom and onion. We also had a sausage, green pepper and onion. They were big enough for two meals and reheated great in the oven. The pizza is a large, stuffed crust one topping (beef).. and with those pictures alone, you can tell it was good. Not overly greasy and they didn't skimp on anything either. No restroom, no paper plates for eat-in (we had to cut the box apart and eat off of that), my bottle of Diet Pepsi expired in January 2022 (It's now May), in fact ALL the Diet Pepsi in the cooler was expired, pizza was the greasiest I've had in a long time. The pizza shop is a local pizza spot that offers low priced pies. The large single topping start at 6.99 and they have several specialty pies to pick from. They also have a massive 7lb pizza called The Godfather that you can order pretty much any time and it comes available in any of the toppings. This is the best deal for a large crowd. My go to order is the buffalo chicken, it's packed with flavor but today we ordered a couple of one topping pies with mushrooms and one with bacon. When they are busy the pies are usually slammed in the boxes and they can look a little distressed but for the most part they tend to be cooked thru and taste good. They don't have the traditional puffed up NY style crust but it is still a decent crust. You don't order from the Pizza Shop because you want a gourmet pie, you order because you want something inexpensive and a little better than one of the chains (I always try to support local) that is fast and convenient. Speaking of convenient they have a drive-thru if you don't feel like stopping and parking. No need to get all dressed up. You've gotta set your expectations before ordering from the shop or you might walk away disappointed. It was Thursday night June 16th about 7:15pm. The place had no customers and two guys were in the back laughing and hanging out. The place was dirty and messy and I must say so were the employees. I had a few questions about the pizza and the male employee kept rolling his eyes and acted like he did not want to help me. He was condescending. So I left. We were having a meeting catered by Gyro Hero across the street however they dropped the ball and could no longer cater. Gyro Hero failed to call and inform us they could not long cater until we went and pick up. We rushed across the street and to The Pizza Shop. After explaining the situation to the welcoming, accomodating, and appreciative counter worker, we placed our order. Within 10 min they had us 5 of the best large pizzas in Norman, 4 large salads, a sack of plates, dressings, utensils, pepper/parmesean packs, and napkins ready for us to take with us. From now on we will be having events catered from the south side of Constitution St. Rather than the place to the north (Gyro Hero). Never ordering from here again. We placed an order through grub hub and my husband went to pick it up. When he arrived they said they never received our order. I checked my email and saw that they had canceled it. When my husband showed them the cancellation email, they said they cancelled it because they were out of an ingredient. So they lied about never receiving it. Instead of asking us if we'd like a replacement or to leave the ingredient out they just cancelled it and lied about it. I was in need of 75 pizzas for the Central OK Regional MATHCOUNTS competition the last weekend in July. After contemplating going back to my college days and ordering from a well-known, delicious at 4am yet not as reliable pizza delivery place, I decided that the middle school math students needed better. After all they have plenty of time to make their own poor diet choices as they approach college. Anyway, I called the week before the competition and received a return call from the owner. Pizza Joint does not deliver but the price point and the quality of the product made up for the inconvenience. The staff loaded my car with the pizzas and were very kind. The owner greeted me and was very accommodating in the time leading up to our pickup. The pizza was devoured as soon as they kids were out of the testing room. The adults commented on how great the pizza was and I'm disappointed I didn't get a slice myself, but the happy kids and teachers are what mattered most. Pizza Joint is definitely on my list next time I'm in Norman and am in need of a takeout pizza. read more
