This is a place I frequent until today. We sat down looked at the menu and decided what we wanted. After deciding we always use a hand sanitizing solution to make sure our hand and the salt, pepper and other condiments are clean as well. I noticed the table top was very sticky. That by itself is gross. However, I took hand sanitizer and squirted a good amount on top of the table surface. Wiped the table several times on my side. I turned the napkin over for the tell. Sure enough the napkin was nasty black. I mean nasty. My friend did her side. Same results. It was too late to decide to leave so we hung around. Soon our foods came. M steak sandwich was way over cooked. The breading was so hard it was hard to chew. I asked my friend about hers. She got the chicken fried chicken. It was cooked perfect. As a Chef. I've seen restaurants do this many times over. Since Del Rancho is known for its famous STEAK SANDWICH ..... they cook several in advance so people don't have to wait too long. So, my steak sandwich comes out way over cooked. What I'm sure they did was drop my chicken fried steak back into the grease to warm it up for about 30 sec to a minute. Results, it comes out over cooked. Fries were great hot, fresh and couldn't ask for better. Salad was good but I notice the greens were just a tad on the limp side. Not to bad but if you want to serve a good salad, they should be firm. Restroom was clean. I really like Del Rancho. However. There is a formula for the breading. That seems to have changed as well. I knew Mr. Holt. He was very proud of his restaurants and the food he served. That's how that little cowboy on the TV AD helped to sell many Steak Sandwich Supremes. I ate at a Del Rancho near my HS Alma Mater. I ate one of two things ever day for 4 years. I know what Del Rancho is supposed to look and taste like. Today's Del Rancho seems to struggle with the same standards. Especially with high cost of food prices. I don't mean for this to seem mean but my standards as a Chef are for about this. We went here because my boyfriend used to love this place. We ordered and got our food. The portions were good, but the sandwiches were pretty bland. Mine was a bit tough. The okra was okay. Same okra you can get anywhere else. For the price, I was expecting a magical steak sandwich, but I have had better elsewhere at a better price. The service was pretty good, though. Del Rancho is a central Oklahoma institution. They are well known for the tender and delicious chicken fried "Steak Supreme" that can be ordered as a sandwich or a dinner. I think they have the best coney dog in town, now that Coit's is gone. I suspect they use Schwab's chili, which costs a bit more but is perfect for hot dogs. The onion rings are home made - not frozen and taste great. The "Texas Burger" is another favorite in our family with a miracle whip tang and a bit of pickle relish in addition to lettuce, tomato and onion. The fountain drinks have a good taste and are not over-priced like so many spots. You can have a cherry coke, if you like! Crinkle cut fries delicious with THE best ranch ever to dip in. Mashed potatoes are possibly even better -- truly mashed, creamy, and at only $1.59 likely the best deal on the menu. Prices are a little high for fast food, but the quality and flavors are there. Service at this location is by young people but they are well managed. I waited way too long to try Del Rancho. The cost has gone up quite a bit while prices are coming down in grocery stores and big box stores. The window service was excellent (young and industrious) and the food is still good. A HUGE chicken fried steak patty on a bun with Miracle Whip, lettuce and tomato. Pretty simple comfort food. I love the old school way of ordering. You pick up the phone at your table and once answered you give your order to the person on the other end. Our order for 3 (sandwich, onion rings, chef salad and a kids meal) was at the table in about 10-15 minutes on an average Friday night. We all liked what we ordered and my only suggestion would have been to have fresh bacon bits on the chef salad. It was good but it wasn't quite chef without the bacon. Total cost was about $30 before tip. The restaurant was so so clean and smelled fresh (like fabuloso cleaner) and ladies room was sparkling clean too. read more

I have fond memories of Del Rancho since I used to get it all the time as a kid, so I knew I had to try it again when I came back to visit the city. Unfortunately, not sure if my memories as a child have been distorted or they changed the recipe because the food was not that great for the price. Food was pretty expensive for a "fast food" type of restaurant - I paid almost $17 for the steak sandwich combo with a side of gravy. The portion sizes are enormous - which would be a plus if the food was good (unfortunately it was not). The steak sandwich was mediocre - there was more breading than meat but it was under-seasoned. There wasn't much of a taste of the chicken fried steak even with the sauce - which I found to be really disappointing because I was looking forward to it the most. The gravy is a white gravy, but I don't recommend paying extra to get it. The gravy had a weird aftertaste (almost kind of sour tasting) so I didn't use much of it. Although the staff was very nice, I don't think it's worth the money. If you are craving a chicken fried steak sandwich, you should go to Pops instead. read more

Del Rancho was a staple growing up in OKC, then they hit hard times and closed most of the shops. You have to look for them today, but thankfully they opened one right off I35 in Moore and I can grab a sandwich everytime I come through town. If your not familiar with Del Rancho Steak sandwich then your in for a treat. They are made fresh everytime you order so they are hot and fresh. Come with an appetite as they are big, I mean Big! The fries are still my favorite but they have tots, okra and onion rings. The in room dining is the best as they still use the telephone from the table ordering system. The staff are friendly but blunt which i am okay with, they care and are attentive. Stop in and order some sandwiches and enjoy the atmosphere. My husband has loved Del Rancho Chicken Fried Steak sandwich since college. There are no Del Rancho's near so so we hadn't been in awhile. We were driving home from Dallas and saw the one in Moore so decided to stop. We only got sandwiches and not fries or any other sides. The steak sandwich was huge. I got the smaller version of the chicken sandwich and was glad I did. It was plenty of food for me. My chicken sandwich was really good. Very crispy and juicy. I liked the seasoning in the crust. I tasted my husbands chicken fried steak sandwich and it was amazing. Next time we go, I will for sure get the chicken fried steak sandwich. It was sooo tender. Glad we made the drive to Del Rancho in Moore. We decided to do the drive thru - the ladies were very nice and the wait was definitely worth it! We ordered Steak and Chicken Sandwiches and they were awesome. We live north of the city, and don't get to Moore often. We loved the sandwiches and forgot how huge they are.
