Glad we made the drive to Del Rancho in Moore. We decided to do the drive thru - the ladies were very nice and the wait was definitely worth it! We ordered Steak and Chicken Sandwiches and they were awesome. We live north of the city, and don't get to Moore often. We loved the sandwiches and forgot how huge they are. Went thru the drive thru as always, ordered the chicken strip basket. First time I ever got burnt chicken from anywhere. Thought it was just color of flavor and seasonings added but no it was burnt. They always make your food fresh to order so you wait 5-10 minutes depending on the size of your order. Good thing fresh bad thing, No ketchup and burnt? This is a near perfect joint. It's not fast food but a burger cafe with a drive thru. Nothing mass produced here. Ate here as we drove down 35 back to DFW. It's been a few years. About the only changes have been priced, but again this isn't fast food. Start with the steak sandwich supreme. This isn't a frozen Chuck wagon masticated sandwich. It's a huge piece of steak, nicely seasoned, and perfectly battered and fried. The bun is perfectly toasted, it's dressed just right. Dive right in. I also got the massive chili cheeseburger. A huge nicely cooked burger, the same well toasted bun, mustard, cheese, onion, tomatoes and pickles. It is the perfect version of this burger. Wife likes the thick onion rings. Food quality is always as expected and holds a nostalgic place from my younger years living in Okc. Be advised that they are not good at following COVID protocol at this location. Plastic reusable menus, condiments on the tables and nobody was wiping down the tables after customers left. The Del Rancho in Moore always seems to be hit or miss with me. My boyfriend ordered me A chef salad with extra ranch (pretty sure it's homemade cause its awesome and garlicky!) and twice now they charged for it but didn't put it in the bag. One time our fried okra was all breading and little to no okra....but the next time it was perfectly cooked and crispy without being burned! The steak sandwich supreme was good but there was literally 3 pieces of little lettuce shreds....I mean cmon I know it's not a healthy sandwich lol but I like the lettuce and tomato flavors with the fried goodness that is chicken fried steak. It's never been bad, just seems like they could be a bit more consistent. The mashed potatoes here are THE BEST though, I'm pretty sure they were redskin potatoes and it was delicious! Had the type of flavorful, rib sticking, and gut busting meal you'd expect from Del Rancho one Friday afternoon. I arrived around 11:30 and there were already several tables seated. Each table has a telephone with which you place your order, but as soon as I walked in, the server asked me what I wanted to drink. So, I had some iced tea before I even read the menu. It was an appreciated effort. I went with the chicken fried steak dinner, which comes with an appetizer salad, one side, and texas toast. I went with mashed potatoes and added a side of fried okra. The food took less than 10 minutes to arrive, and it was piping hot. The steak is large, I am pretty sure it's the same as the one you get on the steak sandwich supreme. It was covered with traditional cream gravy, as were the mashed potatoes. I added a little pepper, but otherwise the gravy was solid. The steak was fork tender, no knife needed. And, the crust adhered well to the meat and had great flavoring. This was a well constructed chicken fried steak, which is no surprise given Del Rancho's reputation and longevity. The mashed potatoes were the most disappointing part of the meal, I got no flavors other than mashed up potato. I would have liked some butter, pepper, salt, etc. The okra is good, it's typical deep fried okra, but the breading is thin, which I prefer. Also, it's quite a large order, I didn't finish it. This location may be superior to the Norman location because it contains a restaurant rather than just the drive through. The food quality is the same, so you lose nothing in the flavor department. Sunday 5pm. Driving home from work I saw the Del Rancho sign and on a whim I decided to get off of I-35 and try them out. I should say I have enjoyed Del Rancho my entire life. I grew up in south Okc and back in the day there was a DR about every couple miles. So I know my way around a Steak Sandwich Supreme. Pulled into the parking lot. North Moore Av just north of the old Western Sizzlin on 12th st Moore. Parking lot was full of cars. So I went through the drive thru. I ordered the Steak Sandwich Supreme, Fries , lg drink. For as busy as they was I got my food in under 5 minutes. I'm going to say... this has to have been the best Steak Sandwich Supreme I have ever had.... ever. The Steak was butter! Steak was so tender! I had to pull into the Western Sizzlin parking lot to finish it off. I wasn't going to wait till I got home!! Crinkle cut fries were great as well. Oh boy, was I in for a SHOCKER! Aside from the modest portions, there was NOTHING special about the food I order. I had great expectations, yet they quickly fell to the waist-side once I sunk my polished teeth into their customer favorite "Old Fashioned Hamburger." The burger came nicely dressed with diced onions, mustard, tomatoes, pickles & lettuce. The burger was assembled with the cold veggies at the bottom & the warm ground beef patty at the top. The raw, diced onions & tart mustard overpowered the MASSIVE burger. The ground beef patty wasn't seasoned & couldn't balance the ton of veggies it rested upon. The crinkle-cut French fries had a "straight from the deep-freezer to a deep-fryer" taste. NOTHING spectacular. Even when sprinkling a packet of salt & pepper mixed with ketchup onto them, they still tasted bland. Overall, Del Rancho (Moore, OK) DIDN'T WOW ME like I'd hoped. As with all restaurants, I will be visiting there again to try a different dish; nonetheless, my 1st impression of DR was opposite of my expectations. I have never been disappointed in a burger I have gotten there. My wife swears by the steak sandwich supreme. This is our last visit for a while as we are giving it up for lent. As if the chicken fried steak wasn't rich enough in calories, I had to put ranch dressing on it. I will take my deep fried goodness with a side of Lipitor® and a defibrillator, thank you. The best part, besides the food, is the ordering system. You sit at your table, pick up the phone by the table, and call in your order. Yes, you read it correct. You call in your order to the nice lady who is 10 feet away from you. Nobody comes to take your order, you have to order it through the telephone. Good luck feeling comfortable if you are non-white, or if you are wearing anything better than cutoffs, camouflage pants, or overalls. Both of us got the "look" from fellow diners. It didn't bother me considering the nature of this place, I am used to such looks after living in Mississippi for a few years. The man, being the whitest white, got the look as well. Chicken fried steaks are normally great but the sides are "blah". The onion rings are very expensive and you don't get much at all. My last order came with 5 and that's not exaggerating. They didn't have much flavor and the onions just fall out of the breading. This Del Rancho is a little more expensive than any other Del Rancho I've been to. Anyone growing up in Oklahoma has probably seen the famous Del Rancho commercial where the little kid, dressed as a cowboy, walks into the restaurant and says "Steak Sandwich Supreme" in the best cowboy twang known to man. Del Rancho has been around, what feels like, since the beginning of time. It has been years since I had a Steak Sandwich Supreme, so when I was in town, I had to stop by. The location in Moore, OK moved from downtown Moore to a former Mexican restaurant. It no longer has the car stations where you park and order from your car (like Sonic), but the restaurant is roomy and clean. They have these vintage phones at each table to place your order. If you're a first-timer, you may be compelled to approach the register to order upon entering. But they will kindly direct you to a table and let you know that you can order from the phone. Naturally, being in a restaurant that serves up fried up goodness, the phones were a bit greasy. No big deal though. When you pick up the phone, there is no beep or sound letting you know that it's working. Until the server answers your call, it's just silent. So you may think it's broken at first, but hang in there...they'll answer. The food was delicious. The Steak Sandwich Supreme had a big country fried steak that overhangs the bun by miles. Even so, the sandwich seemed a bit smaller than what I remember. Maybe I was just extra hungry. Regardless, the mixture of crispy fried steak and veggies with a helping of mayo, all held together by buns, was so good! If you love country fried steak, this is a place to try. If you don't, they also have chicken sandwiches. One disappointment was the onion rings. They were delicious, but man are they pricey! What's the deal with that?
