The people in the store were very nice. That being said, I bought some of the hot and sweet sausage to try. It is a drive for us to get there so I bought a significant amount. I first fried up a few and added them to a small pot of marinara sauce. When we ate it, there were hard lumps of what I would call grizzle in the sausage. I figured I didn't let them cook down enough to render all of the fat so yesterday I fried up a bunch again and added then to a pot of sauce and let them cook down for a much longer time. Same result with the lumps of grizzle. Although the flavor was good I have come to the conclusion that once again another pork place is adding cuts into the sausage that don't belong there. I threw what I had left in the freezer into the garbage. Why is it that no one makes a good sausage without it having hard grizzle or bone fragments anymore? I can remember when I was young and my mother made sausage in the sauce this was never an issue. They were always easy to chew and delicious. Now you have to worry about breaking your teeth! I am sadly giving up on trying to find good Italian sausage. Since Swan Butcher closed in Bethpage, no one knows how to make it anymore. I am sorry to say we will not be back. read more

Just took out from this place for lunch and I'm impressed. They have a wide variety of things to order from all different kinds of sandwiches to fresh pasta to soups. I got the vegetarian sandwich which had baked eggplant, roasted peppers, fresh basil, evoo, and balsamic. I got it without the fresh mozzarella. Also tried Italian sodas which were so flavorful. This is one of the most delicious sandwiches I've ever had. You can tell their ingredients are fresh and that they take pride in what they do. They have nice, quality food! I spent $50 on Saturday morning. I was given Boar's Head cheese w/out being informed. I'm glad I asked. I didn't accept the cheese that had been sliced for me. The man who waited on me was unhappy about this, but tried to be gracious, i.e., he said that he would eat it himself. I meant no offense. Hopefully he didn't get in trouble. I can get Boar's Head cheese at any supermarket. Finlandia cheese is featured on the board, but they didn't have it. They would have earned 4 or 5 stars, were it not for this. read more

Del fiore is quality, quality with a large price tag- Please go somewhere else when it comes to coldcuts, it's boars head, we are on long island, they charge 2 bux more per pound than supermarkets. The steaks are great, the homemade sausage, mozz, pastas - All good as well. My gripe is that they have no fresh pasta just frozen. They charge an arm and a leg for everything, and I don't think they are all that overly friendly either. Just straight forward, which is really fine. I miss when the pizza shop was right there as well as I feel the families greed has made the entire group of businesses that much more undesirable. This is not to say it's undesirable altogether there is great stuff to be had, very good butcher at very high prices. I splurge on some steaks here and there, burnt ends are always available, and a great spot in a pinch. read more

When I wait in line in this place, my mouth literally waters. Everything here is top notch. I regularly get their specialty hero's as I don't cook much, but when I do, I get my meat from here. The hero's they make are on the more expensive side but it's a proper NY hero. They ain't measuring no meat giving .33 pounds of ham that barely makes it to the edge of the bread. Also the constitution of the sandwich itself is evenly spread through its environs giving you a maximum flavorful experience with each bite. No meat and cheese all piled up in a ball from this place. When I do get sausages or some type of chop, people I have over are always like "OMG where did you get this?" The pasta salads are nothing to shake a stick of salami at either. And then I really wish I liked olives because they have quite the selection. One warning. The line is usually long and moves slow. That's because they put a lot of effort into each transaction and really look to satisfy their customers. Sometimes, when I want an Italian sub for work, I'll come here and the line is too long and I just don't have the time so I leave. I called a "Carmine Special" on Semolina Bread, which is basically a K I L L ER Italian hero. I asked them to substitute hot peppers for sweet peppers. I pick up my hero. No Semolina Bread. No peppers at all. I weighed the hero when I got home . . . the total meat weight was 0.6 lbs. For $12.00 . . . Two slices of Prosciutto. All other meats . . . two slices . . . Been coming here since I was 10 years old with my mom. I am currently 23 and now with a son of my own. Love everyone who works here from the owner to the last hire lol. Always have been treated with nothing but kindness even though I always mess up one order but at this point they know exactly what I mean haha. But what really made it wonderful was the exceptional service I got from Frankie. He genuinely wanted me to be happy even before I told him how my family owned a market. Of course the fresh Mozzarella was perfection. As was the Cappiccolla but the two stars were the bread and the thin dried Abruzzo sausage. Frankie even asked me if i prefer it more dry or less. Delfiores has been a household name in my family for as long as I can remember, catering parties and supplying all the authentic Italian munchies for get-togethers. They've got everything you need; the fresh mozz, the dried meats, anything needed for anti-pasta...plus fresh meats, fresh/frozen pastas, sauces, cold cuts etc.. Aside from all of that, they have a decent lunch menu which I finally got around to trying. We ordered the veal parm hero and a Peter's special on a roll. The veal was perfect - homemade sauce and fresh mozz (just the right amount), coupled with the lightly breaded veal and the fresh bread really made for a great sandwich. The Peter was also delicious. Grilled, marinated chicken with fresh mozz, broccoli rabe, and Portobello mushrooms on a roll (could have gotten a hero as well). Naptime was needed afterwards... I've also always liked that this is a family run business straight from the motherland of Italy. Several times over the past year I'd made sausage and peppers using supermarket bought sausage. And each time although the vegies were great, the sausage was like cardboard - flavorless! So, two weeks ago I decided to check out Del Fiore. I picked up three pounds of sausage (half of it the sweet with fennel, half hot). Also bought rice balls, both the meat and the cheese. Had the rice balls that night and the next day. Both styles were excellent. Tonight I finally got around to having some of the sausage. So I'd know it was just the sausage I was tasting simply roasted it in the oven. WoW!!! It's the best I've had in I can't remember how long! The other meats in their display case looked good. This store delivered- literally, they delivered to us the week before Easter 2020 during pandemic. No one else locally even answered the phone. They called back, answered questions and gave actual delivery slot within 24 hours. We enjoyed the sausage, meatballs, fresh mozzarella, Italian cookies and more. They were on the high side, price-wise, and charged $10 delivery fee but it is a specialty market and was happy to have items to make lasagna for Easter. Being from Brooklyn, I LOVE my Italian Pork Stores. The smell alone makes me happy. I've tried plenty of them on the Island, and have been loyal to Pastosa in Deer Park since 2005. Pastosa on New Utrecht Avenue in Brooklyn is where I shopped before I moved to the Island, so I was more than pleased to find Pastosa out here. In any event, we moved further out east and Deer Park was not as convenient as it was before, so a friend recommended we check out Del Fiore. I hate to say it, but Del Fiore can't be compared to any other Italian Pork Store(s). Their Mozzarella is absolutely amazing. It's so delicious I eat about half of it while I'm cutting it up. Fresh is an understatement, it melts in your mouth! Their Pork Chops are beautiful. Sausage; sweet or hot, amazing. Roasts are absolutely amazing. Roast at 250° for a few hours, you don't even need a knife to cut it. The quality of their meat is second-to-none. Personally, I find Cold Cuts to be hit or miss. Sure, Boar's Head is Boar's Head, from Del Fiore or ShopRite. But when we buy from a place like Meat Farms or ShopRite, one week it's good, the next we end up throwing half in the garbage. From Del Fiore, every week the Cold Cuts are perfection. Their Boar's Head Virginia Ham is outstanding. You ask them to slice thin, they actually do it. They get it. Ham tastes completely different sliced thin compared to thick. Completely different! In regards to cooking, I feel like an Italian again, for the first time since 2005. There is some nostalgia in our house when we're cooking. I smell my Grandmother's house. I love it. Some reviews claim Del Fiore is expensive, and I guess they are a bit higher in price compared to some other Pork Stores. Who cares? If I'm going to spend $100 elsewhere and end up with mediocre meats compared to say $125 from Del Fiore and actually enjoy and use everything, I'd rather spend the extra money. I HATE freezing meat, but I have frozen a few things from Del Fiore and used it a week later. Once defrosted, it's like I just picked it up fresh from the store. Some other reviews claim the staff is rude. You probably don't know how to order from an Italian Pork Store. Give them a handwritten list. Put your phone down! If you forget a few things, give them that second list when they are completed with your first list. They are busy, often cutting meat-to-order. I could care less if they are a bit terse, I go for meat, I don't want to be friends with them. read more
