They had a special on Sundays for a $15 large cheese pizza so I snagged that deal for the kids. Then I went with a small white pizza with a garlic knot crust and a large hot honey pepperoni alla vodka pizza. Also got 6 regular garlic knots and 6 sweet chili knots and an order of Buffalo mozzarella sticks. Pros were definitely the sweet chili knots and hot honey pizza. They were both very tasty but I feel like the knots could have used a dipper. The regular garlic knots were fine but I didn't love the marinara that came with it to dip. It didn't taste authentic to me. The white pizza was also very good and I loved that they had the unique crust options available. The regular cheese pizza didn't taste like it was freshly made to me and the buffalo mozzarella sticks were good but not crispy like regular mozzy sticks. The food was all very greasy though, I was a little concerned about it seeping through the bag on to my car seats. They give 5% off if you order online which was a nice perk considering most places charge extra when you use a credit card. I will definitely try more things from here!

What is an everything chicken slice you may ask? Well the counter person explained it this way ........ We take everything from all the specialty chicken slices they make and throw it all on the pie. It did have a lot going on.....BBQ sauce, ranch sauce, buffalo sauce, chicken, bacon and some mozzarella cheese.....but it was surprisingly good. Very heavy slice ....... If you order one of those, you're probably not going to need a second slice. Margarita slice was really good as well.....a lot more basic than they everything chicken slice, but that's the whole point. The crust was crispy and had a really good chew. I'll be returning for sure. Looking forward to trying the "Thanksgiving slice" they make around the holidays.

I'm not sure what ever became of the old owner and his wife, but they owned and ran Cafe Dolce Vita for decades - I recall when it was located in the plaza next door at 1966 Deer Park Avenue, and we used to go there when I was a student at DPHS. Let me tell you; I still think of their chicken marsala pizza, or their pinwheels. I knew pizza didn't have to be just plain cheese or pepperoni, but that a pizza could have chicken marsala on it was life-changing for me. If a pizza could have chicken marsala on it, why, it could have just about anything on it. I don't know if I'll ever get back to Deer Park someday, or if Cafe Dolce Vita will still be there when I do, but if it is I will absolutely be stopping in. All these haters don't know the half of Cafe Dolce Vita's story and status as one of the grand dames of pizza joints in Deer Park and the fact that some of these newer places crowding the town weren't even a glimmer in their owner's eye when Cafe Dolce Vita was already the older, established joint in town.
