I give a 2 because they seemed nice. I brought my truck in there because I am taking it on a long trip. I asked them to check over my truck and to replace my broken rear shocks. They quoted me $538 for two Brillstine shocks that cost under $180 at other shops as well as online. When I questioned them they said that they got them discounted and that is what they were charged by the vendor. They also tried to convince me to change my serpentine belt that only has 13000 miles on it. This is not the original owner. The owners of this shop took over the business and name. Any older previous reviews good or bad should be removed. Again seem like a nice family owned business. But until they change their vendor I can not give them any business. The mark up is to drastic. Took my Blazer in for a starter problem. I did not realize that Deed's had sold his business. I agreed to a tune-up and was ripped off for $800 and nothing was fixed. Same starter problem. The place is now kept as a junk yard with old cars that never move. There are many other honest mechanics in Burbank, just avoid this one. read more

Amazing Service! Our 2004 Chevy Suburban Workhorse needed some work. The transmission was gone and quite frankly a bunch of other stuff was gone to. Not only did they get our baby from our house to their shop they also returned our baby from the shop to our house! I have no idea what the other people are complaining about other than they were probably friends with the former owner and expected cheap service. If you want your truck to run you need to pay for it, bottom line. Our truck is running like a champion at almost 200,000 miles and it's going to go another hundred thousand and beyond. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! They charged me $900 dollars for replacing a steering gear box and my vehicle still wobbles and is very unsafe on the road. I took it back and left it another day and said they had fixed the gear box once again but they didn't. When picking up the van Chris said he couldn't check the repair by taking the van for a drive because the van didn't have enough gas (tank was at 1/4). At one point I was telling him "do you see the 2" play the steering has? You haven't fixed it" and he would answer "well, that play is normal". So I took it to another mechanic right on the next block and he confirmed that the gear box was faulty and dangerous to be driven. The positive reviews go to the previous owner Steve Deeds. The new owner is Chris and he has kept my vehicle unsafe. Very frustrated with their incompetence. I hope this review spares yelpers of unnecessary grief. read more

I highly recommend you read this fully. As what I'm going to tell you about this business is highly suspect of how they operate and deal with problems. So I had my 2015 tacoma in their shop a like a year and a half ago. They did a transmission drin and fill. Not a flush, no machine. I wanted it that way. I brought in Toyota specific transmission fluid. Thought everything was good felt good about the service. A day or two later the truck jerked really hard like never before! I was concerned and brought it back. It was put back on the rack and checked again. Told me it was ok that there was no problem. Now I'd a bit of a car guy. I know quite a bit but I'm not a transmission expert by any means. My truck is well taken care of in every aspect. At the time it had 65k on the transmission fluid. It was a bit over due for service. As time rolled on the transmission bucking continued. Not all the time just when hard braking when the fluid sloshed just enough. I tried to have the dealer look at it a few times as I had an extended warranty. Mid last year I decided to move out of California to the mid west. I had it checked by a dealer. The dealer carefully looked it over it wasn't leaking and was 2.5 quarts low on fluid. That's like half the fluid missing. Now the dealer check the fluid carefully and found metallic flakes in the oil indicates it had been grind metal on metal. As I had the extended warranty they took a few days and replaced it. So after all was said and done I paid nothing for the repair. So I went to Deed's and they verbally said they would take care of the issue. They wanted to offer me $200. I paid $120 for the service. So that's like a slap in the face for their screw up in my opinion. This is where things got interesting. They kept putting me off. Telling me to call back Monday. I was quite busy with my new job and trying to get settled in the mid west. So I called when I could. I got nothing but excuses and call back Monday. Then the excuses and finger pointing started. Saying that I must have had a leak and so on. Now this is a Christian cathic business. Cross on the wall and the rest. Seem real stand up kind of people. Reality is it couldn't be farther from the truth. I have given up on any compensation or apology from them. Please learn from this and DON'T use this shop. They don't stand behind their work and the customer service when things go wrong is absolutely horrible!!! Watch for my YouTube video to be done soon. As I think people should know about shops like this. As its inexcusable how bad this experience has been. I'm sure the shop will respond oh so sorry blah blah blah. It's a fake thing to get you to trust them. They have had months and months to resolve this with me and treat me like this. So don't believe them or any excuses they have to offer. Just don't go here if you want good service. Sometimes with these new transmissions it's best to see the dealer or find a trusted mechanic. read more

I can't really speak to the new management, as I didn't leave my car for work this time around, but they seemed nice enough. Deed's is by far the best automotive repair shop I have ever been too. That might sound like an exaggeration, but I assure you it's not. Not only are their prices EXTREMELY reasonable, they are good at what they do and personable. I could not believe I was having my car repaired by a shop - it was more like a friend was doing it. I needed to have my timing belt on my 2000 VW Passat replaced so I called around and got a few estimates between $900-$1300. That's when I called Deed's. They quoted me $450 and that's what I paid. Add that to the customer service and you cannot beat Deed's. If you live in Burbank, hell, if you live in LA County - GO TO DEED'S! read more

Unlike the other gentleman, every single experience I've had atl Deeds has been positively wonderful. They typically go above and beyond the call of duty, and have been very generous on their prices, as well as upfront on what they do, if they do it, and how long/much it'll be. My headlights had been having a problem and bulbs kept burning out. They first replaced the bulb, but less than a month later, it burned out. I took it back, and they checked if it was an electrical problem (no charge). They confirmed it wasn't; just a bad bulb. Replaced it (also free of charge). They're also willing to step aside when they can't tackle a problem. My transmission was going nutty, and since they don't do transmission, they looked into who does the best in the area, and sent me to them. Steve runs the place, and he's always rather pleasant to work with. Charles is also an awesome guy, and I don't think I've ever seen him without a smile on his face, even in the nastiness this week presented (temperature-wise). All in all, amazing service, and I'll continue to happily recommend them! read more

Boy! So pleased with their customer service and willingness to repair my car. Brought my 2003 Cadillac CTS to them because it would not start - just from one day to the next. They showed me pictures of the wire harness melted! They found the part and welded and repaired the harness along with fixing my leaking radiator and cleared the check engine light by replacing the oxygen sensor and airflow meter. I just love the service and honesty of this place! My ranger has been coming here when it was my dads before he passed it down to me and so I decided to come here when I ran into a big issue. My car wouldn't shut off and kept running so because I don't live close by I had to quickly take it to the dealer just to get an answer how to manually shut it off till I could take it to deeds. They fixed exactly what was needed and spotted another issue in the meantime that we had sort of knew about but thought wouldn't be an issue. However the price was extremely fair so I went ahead with the other repair and I was able to get my car fixed and drive out of there in only 2 days time! I highly recommend this place because not only are they honest about what you need fixed (and not try to throw in some other things like dealers will do!), but the staff is friendly, professional and fast. Old management (Steve and Leslie) were great, went to them for oil changes and routine checkups from 2015-2018. New management has taken over and I'm not impressed. The head mechanic, Chris, told me I needed to replace the struts on my car, which was going to run me $900. He said it was very important I do it as soon as possible. Went and got a second opinion, learned that nothing was wrong. I've driven a couple thousand more miles without doing any repair work to my car, and it is performing well, as usual. Hard not to feel like Chris attempted to take advantage of me. I will not be coming back. read more

Deeds has been doing the repair work on my cars for almost 20 years and I will go no place else. I trust them implicitly for doing great work and for not trying to sell me something that I don't really need.The owner, Steve, always takes my number to call me once he knows what the car needs. I have told him that he doesn't need to call me, just fix whatever needs to be fixed. This is how much I trust him. Just two weeks ago I had a 1986 Ford van that I was going to put up for sale so I took in to Deeds just for an oil and filter change. When I was younger I did all my own service work myself and I thought I did a pretty good job of it. Wrong! I had been dutifully crawling under the van to change the oil, etc. But, what I had neglected to do was to check the steering components. Very fortunately, Steve's mechanic found a completely worn out tie rod end that I had overlooked. It was the original from 1986 and When Steve showed me how totally worn out it was it scared the hell out of me. If that worn out tie rod end had broken loose when driving then I would have had no steering and I could have easily caused a fatal accident particularly if If I had been driving it on the freeway. This is what I don't look about YELP. How does a bad review get deleted in less then a month when they have reviews going as far back as 2010? I gave Steve a not so hot review less then a month ago, but for some straight reason it's now gone. Folks I too have been a client of Deeds for many years and more importantly I've referred lots of business Steve's way, 3 clients in the last 4 months. But my last visit was anything but nice. : ( Clearly Steve was having a bad day, problem is he took it out on the costumer. And an even bigger problem is I know how to work on cars and I have been since I was 14 years old. Unfortunately I needed to bring my truck in his shop for a special procedure other wise I would have worked on it at my home. Long and the short of this review is this, Go to Tyerman's 3 blocks away on the opposite side of the street. Tyerman's does pretty much the same work with NO attitude! I've read the rules about writing reviews on Yelp. This is not a hate speech, this is merely I'm not happy with the service review. Took my Jeep Cherokee in for service at Deeds on 3/14/18. Asked for it to be checked over and tuned up. Today is 3/19/18. Picked it up and the charge was $437.97. I did not get a phone call to go over what was needed on my car. I did not okay these repairs. And I did not okay the cost. I have been going to Deeds since I moved to Burbank in 1990. Steve is an honest, hard working guy. (Steve Deeds has sold the business. So this does not reflect on him at all.) My recommendation: Cross Deeds in Burbank off your list. read more

I have really mixed feelings about this place. I really want to like it better than I do. I think it's probably a better shop than my experience suggests. My experience may have been a 'fluke' but it's left a bad taste. I had a timing belt put on my old (early 90's), but well-maintained and low-mileage Civic. The next time I needed a smog certificate, the guy at the smog shop told me my timing was set WAY off. When I took it back to Deeds to have it checked, I was told that "that [smog] guy doesn't know what he's talking about." Back to the smog shop. He SHOWED me how much it was off. Back to Deeds. He reluctantly said he'd check it, "...but if it's okay, I'm going to have to charge you labor...". Fair enough. It was waaaay off. They adjusted it (at no charge), but I don't even remember an apology. I just found out today that the oil seal at the front of the engine (below the timing belt) is leaking. I can't guarantee there's a connection (it's been two years--but only 10K miles) but, still... If it WAS replaced, it shouldn't be leaking. If it WASN'T replaced, the car was 14 years old at the time--shouldn't it have been? Nice people, clean shop...and to be fair, I'd had other work done there (once or twice) that was fine... I really want to like this place...but based on this one bad experience, I'd hesitate to send friend or family member there. read more

I've gone to Deeds Automotive Service for the past 2 years for most of my car maintenance and repair needs. The owner, Steve, has always struck me as an honest and competent mechanic. What prompted me to write this review though is last week, when I took my car in for a brake job because my brakes were squeaking badly, he informed me that my brakes still had over 50% life in them, and that the squeak was due to cheap brake pads put in by my previous mechanic. Steve worked on the pads to eliminate the squeak and didn't charge me a penny. This kind of service goes above and beyond my expectations, and I'm very thankful to Steve for his great service and honesty. read more

Do not go here. I will say this, he did not charge me to evaluate what he thought was wrong with my Nissan Versa. Initially he was going to charge me $100 bucks for them to tell me what was wrong with the car which would have gone towards the cost of the repair and because I followed my instincts, I would have had my dashboard pull apart which would have been completely unnecessary to replace a Heater Core that would have cost me $800 (parts and labor) but when he told me that they wouldn't be able to tell if replacing the heater core would fix the issue but by process of elimination they would be able to tell if it was the water pump or thermostat, I was like WHAT?? Glad I walked away and went to go for a second opinion, which saved not only money but peace of mind that my car was not going to explode on the freeway from overheating. They are money focused and don't care for the safety of their customers as much as taking advantage of those who aren't as educated about cars and just need to have a honest person do the right thing. read more

It hurts to give this place one star, but once Steve sold the business, this place has gone completely downhill. I trusted Steve completely without question, but no one in this new management. I took my car in to check on its squeaky brakes, which Steve usually cleaned of dust and sent me on my way with a smile, no charge. This new owner checked my brakes and said he had a few "suggestions." Unlike Steve, this man said I had to replace all my brake pads, all my rotors, and change all my filters. As soon as I had said that Steve said they were just fine three months ago, he backpedaled and told me maybe just the pads and not the rotors. He was also condescending to me. I did not let him do anything to my car, and took it to a new place. They told me exactly what Steve would tell me, just needed some dusting off and they're fine for 10,000 more miles. This new management will take advantage of you, don't go here. Also, there are junk cars permanently parked in the spots, which doesn't look nice, and takes away from customer parking. read more

I would definately not trust these guys. I went here twice and each time i had to come back on multiple occasions. Each time the owner tells me everything is all good but then shortly after, figure out the problem still persistsas if nothing was done. This last time I went in for my curcuit belt because my car started screeching whenever I turned it on. Thinking the job is done, 2 days later it started screeching again. Like what did I pay you for? The owner even gave me attitude when I brought it back to be fixed. I'm assuming these guys cut corners and take the cheaper way out in order to gain a profit. Then he let workers start running the office. $200 jobs that were done right the first time turned into $800 jobs that took 3 or more times to get right. Not willing to commit without a second opinion, I asked some friends if they recommended anyone. Deeds was mentioned, so I checked them out. They kept my car overnight and told me nothing was wrong with it, and didn't charge me a dollar. Several weeks later, and still a little anxious (who wouldn't be after someone told you that your car was on the verge of exploding... thank you unnamed mechanic), I brought it back in. Have used various mechanics in and around Burbank. Have passed Deeds almost everyday on the way to dropping my son at school. Needed a brake job bad! Took my truck in and was happy when I got the call. Only needed front brakes! Most mechanics seem to tell you, well your doing the fronts lets just do the rears, classic up selling.
