So when I'm in Bay Area - I just find my way to DeeDee Deedee (which meaning 'sister') delivers just that. Homemade food comfort. Their food - right from appetizers to main course is amazing. If I had the luxury to eat all day at Deedee's I'd do that. I love their fresh made phulkas (Indian homemade bread with ghee). Just reminds of eating back home where someone from family serves you right in your plate. Their chaas (buttermilk) is always to refreshing. I like all their entrees (sabji and dals). I crave for their dessert - shrikhand (yogurt based dessert) or gajar halwa (carrot pudding). Last year around this time when I was in Bay Area I took an extra pint of gajar halwa for my colleagues at work - I must tell you, it was a joy watching them fight over every spoon because it was so delicious. I'm kinda shocked why this place has just 3.5 stars - it's 5 star worthy. It's your hole in the wall Indian restaurant - just focus on food and I'm sure you'll not regret the experience. read more

I came here for the dinner lunch buffet and found it to be a little pricy considering it had limited veg options with mostly daals and one palek paneer curry. The food was average abs the curry didn't have much paneer. Overall the food was mediocre and ambiance was a bit shoddy with paper plates and plastic spoons. read more

I used to love this place in previous years. I visited it today after 6 months. Price for buffet increased from $13 to $17. Food quality has gone down. Frozen food material being used in most dishes. Not a single dish which was tasty. Staff seems to have changed as well. Chapathis are good as always but Had to repeatedly go to the payment counter to remind them to serve chapathis. Another surprise at the counter. Notice says no credit card payment below $15 which is ok. Food was very delicious. I came back here after long time. Noticed many changes in menu. Before we used to have chaat and panipuri included in buffet. No seeing it anymore. Pro tip: Resist filling up on the rice, as once we sat down one of the men emerged from the kitchen with freshly warmed and buttered chapati for us. Best place to go for home style food. It's a mix of Gujarati and Punjabi food. The parathas and rotis are fresh and unlimited. Ideal to take a siesta after a lunch there . The shrikand and paratha or Puri is divine. Weekday prices are $11 and so not bad for the quantity. Only problem is (and could be with trb current management) that we have to ask for rotis vs they used to come around all the time. Other than this minor quirk the food is great and fresh. This place used to be a five star experience now it is a two star experience. I have fond memories here when it was under previous ownership. I once arrived as first customer of the day and will never forget the delicate care taken in laying out the buffet, quietly blessing the food before customers arrived. It was a moment that showed such rare care, reverence. My most recent experience was like visiting a completely different restaurant. Steel trays are now flimsy foam disposable trays, shrikhand is no longer on the buffet (but available for extra $), and the food is one-note. Sad to see this place fall so far after new ownership. Ordered a delivery for dinner from here. Very nice packaging for the food. We got the dinner thali which had a good portion of the sabzis, rotis and pulao. Pani puri was very tasty. Definitely a must try. Even the gobi paratha was very well made. We were apprehensive at first to try a takeout for the thali as we have always had a dine-in at Deedee's which has never disappointed. We have been getting food to-go from Dee Dee's for many many years now & the quality & consistency of the home-cooked food has not changed even a bit (may be a but for GOOD). Their lunch plate is good for Me & my kid both. Their Undhiyu is yummy. I have never actually tasted Undhiyu in a proper Gujarati setting so this is the closest I have been & I have been a fan. Craving for dessert? No problem.. try their Yummy & Creamy Shrikhand. Pre-Pandemic, we used to go once every 2 weeks & when my parents visited, we went there too & unlike many Indian restaurants in the Bay Area, my parents actually loved the place. Spice levels are perfect, not oily at all and offers an amazing variety from chaat, raita, 4-5 subjis, dal, curry, srikand, samosa, and what not !! Service is good too. Cheap! That defines this place. I had paid for a pick up order on DoorDash and one of the helpers gave me my order after seeing my receipt. Then I went to my car and as I was about to drive away, a cheap old man who I think is the owner came running out asking if I paid.
