Awesome place to have Maharashtrian food here in California. We have tried Kothimbeer vadi, Shevbhaji and Hirva Chicken with Chapati, and Piyush here. Taste is great!! Perfect quantity too. Recently we tried Veg Maratha, Pavbhaji which was good too. Service is excellent and so is the decor. Listening to Marathi songs here was cherry on top.

This place was an unexpectedly delicious! Came here randomly when our favorite was closed. Ordered: 1) Paneer Ranjhans: very flavorful lots of cardamom flavor coming through, not creamy but rather immensely flavorful. 2) Veg Peshwai: this dish appeared just like the Paneer Ranjhans but it was amazing. This dish would be even more delicious if it was spiced but with kids the mild version was equally yummy. 3) Shrikhand Puri: it's ok, because I like my version at home. Puri is thick not thin and light. 4) Jowar Bhakri: nice and light..almost like a roti. 5) Paratha: Ajwain paratha...standard. The two guys inside with orange vests were ok. The shorter one seemed nicer, the taller guy: the way he cleaned up other tables was extremely loud (throwing dishes) which made me not want to come here again.

sabudana vada

Misal pav & Sabudana vada is one of my favorite maharashtrian foods. I used to work in Pune, MH for couple of years. I've a lot of memories trying different authentic maharashtrian foods. Ambiance: Beautiful, well designed with a lot of native elements including gudi Padwa rituals, maharashtra state map etc., One thing to note here that we've complained about eye itching and irritations & they told it's because of HVAC and onion cutting etc., I really hope they'll work on fixing their HVAC systems. Food: We've ordered a lot of foods for our table. Sabudana vada - 4/5 Kothambir vada- 3.5/5 Kandha vada - 3.5/5 Gobi Manchurian- 3/5 Misal pav - 4/5 Varan - 4/5 I really liked Sabudana vada and Misal pav. Kothambir vada and Kandha vada was okay-ish. Service was good other than the HVAC issue that I already mentioned. Only reason to give 4 overall is because of their ambiance. Otherwise, it's SOLID "3.5"

veg thali

Visited with couple of my Maharashtrian friends and all of us loved the menu and the food. We ordered veg thali, non veg thali, missal pav , kothambir vadi and sabudana vada. Rice bhakri and Shrikhand were amazing and we ordered some for later as well. Prices are reasonable. Ambience is simple yet good.service was very polite and attentive too. Definitely recommended if you are in town and in mood for maharashtrian delicacies

Had a great time. Food was spicy and delicious. Serving sizes are good. Easy to share. Good ambience and service. I live a little far away but will definitely visit when I am in the area next.

Wonderful maharashtrian soul food! Good diverse menu. Food was tasty & flavorful - we ordered mutton curry, chicken makhani, paneer curry, zunka. Chai, piyush & Kokomo sherbet was nice as well. Kothimbir Vasu was superb, Vada pav and sabudana Vada were nice. Good service, wonderful and cultural ambience. Sandeep and Pradeep were good attentive hosts. Good time all in all.

Tried Swaraj India in Santa Clara recently. The vada pav was the highlight--crispy, flavorful, and reminded me of street food back home. Unfortunately, the mains were just average. Both the paneer and chicken dishes lacked depth in flavor, and I was surprised to find out they don't serve naan. For an Indian restaurant, the absence of any tandoori or bread options really took away from the overall experience. Service was below average--not very attentive and a bit disorganized. I'm giving 2.5 stars solely for the vada pav. Otherwise, the visit was underwhelming.

Pav for usal

We went with our maharashtrian friends who were visiting from east coast. They were very excited to try the dishes. We ordered Vada pav, sabudana vada, masala taak, sol kadhi, zunka, matki chi usal. Vada pav was very spicy but tasty. Sabudana vada was pretty good too. Bhajra roti which we ordered which zunka was pretty thick. Zunka was decent. Usal gravy was oily as expected. As that's how it is supposedly. Service was pretty bad as they had less ppl working, we had to remind them about masala taak thrice and in final bill they added it extra as we kept reminding them.

TLDR : Great food - authentic Maharashtrian spices, nice ambience depicting stories for Maharashtra and quick service We tried Swaraj India as it was highly recommended by friends for authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. This place comes closest to finding spicy Maharashtrian food in the bay area. The menu is exhaustive with multiple options to choose from. The prawns koliwada was good and the saoji chicken was nice and spicy. Loved the Bhakri and sol kadhi!

Stale Old Cold Vada Pav from Swaraj !

This happens when arrogarnce hits you after you become popular. I went to Swaraj Vada Pav Food Truck in Milpitas today and ordered a cheese pav bhaji and vada pav. I wanted Cheese Pav Bhaji togo and Vada pav to eat there but chose take out since on the new screens they have added, you cannot split your order. The only option you have is "To Go" or "Dine In" When we opened the vadapav and ate in the car in like 1 minute, it was chilled cold vada. When I went and told him, your vada was cold, he was like no way and where is the vada. I said after taking the bite how do you want it back ? There was no apology or even care that they served someone elses old ToGo Order was given to me because who would know ???? When I shared and told them, you handed me someones old cold order... He was like "Yeah Yeah Whatever !" This happens when u suddenly become successful, you start showing your true colors and customer service or customers go for a toss ! Not again sorry Swaraj Vada Pav you disappointed me big time today. Anyone taking parcel please check they are giving you hot or old stale cold vada in the pav. Here is the picture of the vada pav whose bite I took and was served chilled to me.

We got the masala Vada pav, pav bhaji, chase, spdp and the paneer sandwich. My husband loved the Vada pav and said it's the best he has had in the Bay Area. My favorite was the spdp. A Solid Spot for Your Street Food Cravings :…read more This is a decent place that definitely lives up to its name, if you are craving Pav Bhaji, this is exactly where you want to be. The Food: I have to give the Pav Bhaji a solid 5 stars. They have all the options you could want to try out (like the Amul Pav Bhaji), and it hits the spot perfectly. The bhaji comes out generously topped with shredded cheese, accompanied by perfectly toasted, buttery pav, fresh diced onions, and a lime wedge. They also offer the "more" part of their namesake, which includes street food staples like Vada Pav, loaded Paneer and Veg Sandwiches (served with a great green chutney and a side of chips), and chaat. The Dahi Puri (listed as S.P.D.P.) looks great and comes beautifully topped with yogurt, sev, and fresh pomegranate seeds. You can also wash everything down with some authentic Amruttulya chai or a refreshing glass of chaas. The interior is casual, clean, and has plenty of seating, making it a great spot for a quick bite. However, true to its name, the menu doesn't stretch much further beyond these specific street food staples. If you are looking for an expansive, full-course menu, you won't find it here. Overall: 5 stars for the Pav Bhaji, but giving it a solid 4 stars overall for the rest of the items and the limited menu scope. Definitely worth a stop when that specific craving hits!

The biriyani had tender meat pieces and well flavored rice, and a bit of a kick which added another dimension to the variety of flavors. 5/5 for flavor, quantity and service. We got takeout so unsure about the dine in experience.

Local Pakistani artwork adorning the walls. Delicious grilled meat smells wafting around as well. ***FOOD: we got chicken 65, naan and samosa chaat sans yogurt. *chicken 65-3/5- this was almost beetroot red in color. In my naivety I hoped it was some natural food color using beetroot. But I later learnt from them that it was not. It left me appalled at the liberal use of such toxic artificial colors. Colors aside, the chicken itself was delicious. But I will make sure to ask them beforehand next time and order something that doesn't have colors. *naan-5/5- this was amazing. Hot from the tandoor. It wasn't charred at the bottom. It was light and large. It was clear that it was made by someone who knew their craft. I will come back here just for the naan. *samosa chaat-3/5- this made me sick, I had an upset tummy for a few days after. It was hot day so I m assuming they had problems with their chutney or maybe it was the samosa with the potato filling. Upset tummy aside, the chaat flavors were decent, not the best of the lot but decent nonetheless.

We recently had Delhicacies prepare and deliver food for a small gathering at our place, and they…read moreexceeded our expectations in every way possible. First off, the delivery was a smooth process, dot on time and packaged with such precision. Ankush, who runs the show at Delhicacies came to do the honors and as well left detailed instruction on how to go about preparing one of the starter dishes that we had ordered (Bhalle Papdi chaat that is). The menu we chose included Bhalle Paapdi Chaat, Cocktail Samosas, Paneer Tikka Masala, Chana Masala, Baingan Bharta, accompanied by Roomali Roti and Lacchay Pyaaz as a side salad. The Bhalle Paapdi Chaat was an instant crowd-pleaser, with the perfect balance of crispy papdi, fresh bhalle, cool sweet yogurt, tangy tamarind along with green sauces, a secret masala powder and a garnish of beetroot , pomegranate and cilantro. All of these were packed separately and instructions were provided (step by step) to prepare the end result which tasted out of the world good. It was refreshing yet packed with flavors that kept everyone asking for seconds. The Cocktail Samosas were golden, crisp, and filled with a spiced potato mixture that made them an ideal finger food--perfectly bite-sized and not greasy at all. For the main course, the Paneer Tikka Masala (PTM) stole the show with its rich, velvety sauce that coated the tender paneer in just the right amount of spice. The flavors were balanced yet bold, making it a standout dish. The earthy flavor in the paneer made it finger licking good and definitely was the biggest hit of the evening. The Chana Masala had the perfect texture--soft chickpeas simmered in a well-spiced gravy that had just the right amount of heat and tang. Cubes of paneer in there definitely made it a good overall combination and complemented with the PTM. The smoky and flavorful Baingan Bharta added an earthy depth to the meal as well. The eggplant was roasted beautifully, bringing out its natural flavors, which paired wonderfully with the Romali Roti. The roti was soft, thin, and warm, making it the ideal vehicle to soak up the gravies. We did end up heating the rotis in our microwave oven for about 10-15 seconds in batches and they remained perfect in their texture and taste. The Lacchay Pyaaz--freshly sliced onions with a sprinkle of masala--added a crunchy, refreshing bite to balance the richness of the other dishes. Overall, Delhicacies delivered an out of the world authentic North Indian culinary experience with each dish tasting as though it was prepared with care and precision. The food was flavorful, perfectly spiced, and served fresh. Our guests were impressed, and we couldn't have been happier with the quality of food and service of delivery. If you're looking for reliable and delicious Indian catering, Delhicacies should be at the top of your list! Give them a chance and thank me later. You are welcome!!!
