    Extremely disappointed with Deck Helmet. One of their drivers thought it was acceptable to park on the sidewalk in a clearly marked fire lane at Walmart, completely blocking pedestrian access. Not only is this illegal and inconsiderate, but it's also a safety hazard -- especially for people with disabilities or parents with strollers. If this is how they represent their company in public, I'd be very concerned about their respect for customers and property on the job. Do better

    Step 1 is really Step 2, and Step 2 is Step 1.  Both decision makers have to be home at the time of the estimate.

    This is as far as I got. This is false advertising. They do not provide a free estimate until someone is in your home. Step 1: Two people come to your home with a high-pressure sales presentation. Step 2: is a satellite measure (maybe) The operator made it sound like they could start the job immediately. The two hour window is really a three hour window. If your appointment is at 1, you need to be available between 12 to 3.

    I had old deck and I wanted to renew it. Deck Helmet offered me a good price to renew it. They started the work and finished it. I thought they did it good job. After one year privacy Lattices they put on the fence started to break and falling down. Also, the fence started bending. I called them and ask them if they can fix with cost. I told them clearly I can pay for it just I need someone to fix the issues but they kept telling me some one from Warranty department will call me and nobody called me back. You need to know, once they install the deck with poor quality they will never show up to fix anything even if you want to pay for it.

    Save Your Money Deck Helmet, as operated by Jason Aptor in the Rockville Maryland area, is one of the most poorly managed companies I've ever had the misfortune of working with. A qualified general contractor would provide better quality & selection with less aggravation or the barrage of pointless "customer service" emails. The "low pressure wash" is done at 3500 psi, is not low pressure and shredded the wood! Decking should arrive after demo and repairs, but is delivered first. No dumpster provided so crew loaded debris into truck parked on our lawn. Jason diverts workers from 80 miles to move furniture back to our deck that he, who's about 2 miles away, removed. It goes on. Billing however is VERY prompt. The workers are very hard working and will do anything asked. But they shouldn't have to be asked to clean up, move furniture, or not park on the lawn. That points to a lack of training or follow up by management. Use Home Advisor, Angie's List, or a trusted neighbor, but DO NOT waste your money with Deck Helmet. The materials are not what is on the Deck Helmet web site. Instead they're whatever the local Home Depot has in stock.

    After 4 years much of our deck looks like this. We have been trying for over A YEAR AND A HALF to get them to honor their 10 year warranty.

    (NOTE: I would give this company zero starts but this is not an option) Long story: Horrible, horrible customer service. I am certain that there is a memo in the home office that states "ignore and stall any request on a warranty until they go away." We got deck helmet applied to our wooden deck in 2016. It was OK looking but was impossible to walk on barefoot in the summer. By 2019 it had started to peel in many places. We filed a warranty claim in April of 2020 as the peeling was worsening and it looked like water was getting trapped under the boards and causing rot. The Deck Helmet people informed us that our warranty would not include labor and would be $4,900+ even though the original application was closer to $3,000. (Glad they had a warranty...without it we might have saved almost $2,000 - sarcasm). They did say that they would give us a gallon can of their product and we could do it ourselves (they even offered "free delivery" of the can...wow, they are so nice - sarcasm). We fortunately had the warranty certificate that the guy who did the sale gave us and it expressly said it covered parts and labor. So they begrudgingly approved the warranty repair in a very terse email. It is now 16 months later and I have been told 5 different times that the repair would have to be delayed due to: rain, Covid, temperature, winter, etc. I have sent more than 20 emails and spent more than 3 hours on the phone over many calls trying someone to get the work done. I have been told on at least 5 occasions that "a manager" or "a specialist" would call me back later that day or the next. I have NEVER received a call back. Every time I call, a different person answers and I have to explain to entire story again (this week I had to re-tell it three times in one hour long call) and there is never any record of the issue. The people I talk to have said "we don't keep records of any calls" and "we cannot access email" when I tried to forward the email threads. Unbelievable! The product is also not great (obviously) but was a less expensive alternative to replacing the entire deck...I wish we had spent it. The application burns your feet in the summertime and looks like liquid plastic, at best. The photos make it look nice. They promise warranty for 10 years! The worst customer service I have ever experienced...worse that AT&T, Delta airlines and the DMV by far. Do NOT give them any business. There are far better choices out there with people who don't treat you like dirt.

I hired a commercial general contractor (GC) and my fixed-bid contract was ONLY with the GC. The GC has freedom to hire any person to work on the project. Rose Restoration was subcontracted by my GC's vendor. Rose Restoration is claiming that the vendor that contracted them did not pay them even though we have paid 100% of what was owed to the vendor. They are claiming that there were change-orders that are pending. I asked them to present me the approved change-orders in Aug 2025 which they still haven't done. We do not pay any more than the contract states except if we receive a change order. The change order has to be approved before any work stated on the change order is performed. No change order was ever presented to us - I had not even heard of Rose Restoration till months after the project was delivered. After the project was delivered, we paid 100% of what was owed to the GC as that is our only legal touch-point. Rose Restoration has been haranguing me - who they have never met or engaged - instead of taking it up with the vendor who contracted them. Even though I did not know them and had no legal obligation to them, I tried to help them out by facilitating this issue with the GC and the vendor. If the basis ​for the dispute has been the change orders, why can't they present it even after 6 months? Just leads me to believe that this is just an attempt to EXTORT. Avoid this business like the plague - if this is how they treat people with whom they do not have a work-order or contract, I can only imagine how they treat their direct customers.

(UPDATE on my ORIGINAL REVIEW) The owner called me to discuss the EXTREMELY NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE we had, and the POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE provided by his employees. I appreciated his personal outreach, and was gracious enough to give them another chance. During the "2nd Chance Visit", his carpet estimator was incredibly rude to my female tenant, made it seem like he was doing her a favor to show-up, and verbally CURSED AT MY FEMALE TENANT. She became afraid and asked the carpet estimator to leave because she felt unsafe. I respect & appreciate the OWNER for trying to make things right, but if this is the caliber of employee that his company hires, I WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM. It is 1,000% UNACCEPTALBE for a service provider that has been invited into someone's home to curse at a woman. UNACCEPTABLE. District Floor Depot WILL NOT be getting my business, and I hope that no consumer supports this type of behavior by doing business with them. The estimate, design, demo, and build processes all went smoothly because of Agustin and his crew, who started every day bright and early - even when utterly frigid. Like any big project, there were some unforseen challenges, but Agustin communicated with us regularly and made the design changes and/or repairs that were necessary to push forward. Agustin and the crew did a great job with the deck and patio modifications to accommodate. I highly recommend Creative Exteriors Plus!

    My wife and I moved into our brand-new custom home in October of last year (2023) and have loved…read moreour deck, but barely used it due to the bugs. Our builder (Churchill Classics) charged an arm and a leg, and we didn't want to go back to them for another quote, so I scheduled over 15 contractors to come out in 2 days. Of the contractors that came out, Agustin was the first. He was on time, knowledgeable, and gave me plenty of ammunition to go up against the remaining contractors. Although Creative Exteriors Plus was one of the most expensive options we looked at, it was also the only truly professional experience that left a great taste in my mouth going forward. Augustin of Creative Exteriors Plus is fantastic! I always look for contractors with strong integrity, who are honest, and who have no issues answering even the dumbest of questions. Agustin not only gave me peace of mind when meeting us, but he was also very open and honest about everything, from the work, scheduling, payment, and timeframe, to the actual products he used. Before screening in our deck, I wanted to stain/seal the deck and power wash it but didn't want to spend the extra capital getting it professionally done. Agustin also helped walk me through products to look at, steps to properly power wash, and troubleshooting via text the whole way through. At one point, I mentioned that my Google caller ID had picked up another business name, Prime Construction Corp, and I wanted to verify if this was related to him or what the connection was. Agustin called me right away and explained that it was an old business they contracted with bigger vendors, but during COVID, they pivoted and no longer have any affiliation with that business. He was quite surprised it popped up with his number. We had a great laugh about it, and I really appreciated how straightforward he was with this information. I love his transparency and honesty throughout the whole process, and we even contacted him again about possibly screening in/putting a roof over our walkup basement door. He was very candid, advising that having the window on the side and a lack of trees nearby would attribute to more cost and effort than a solid result. After brainstorming, we came up with the idea of buying screens and velcroing them around the rails (haven't put this plan into action yet), but I very much appreciate his candor and encouragement that this is a project I can do myself. The entire project was done in roughly 3 days: two days of work back to back, and then 1 Saturday due to rain. The screen is so beautifully and meticulously done that it doesn't even look like a screen is there. His team also managed to perfectly match our current post layout when constructing a new post and adding a door. The door also comes with a cool feature: it has a window that slides down. They also included 2 new keys for the door, and Agustin did a full walkthrough with us to ensure we were fully happy with the results. Before completing the deck, his team also power washed the bug gunk off the deck and removed some of the remaining tape I had forgotten to remove when I stained the deck. He also offered to come back and install our ceiling fan once we actually pick one out. He's local and always just a short text away if I need anything. I cannot recommend Creative Exteriors Plus enough and absolutely rave about Agustin to everyone I know! Thank you so much for all of your hard work, and we will definitely be using you again in the near future for fencing/patio options.
