Overall I'm happy with this fence. First the good part: I picked the western red cedar wood and it is beautiful. For the most part the fence was expertly installed and looks great. They used all the right materials like hot dipped galvanized nails and the proper pressure treat fence post place deep in the ground with concrete footings. The 60 foot of fence along the backyard looks perfectly even. Now for the misses and there were a few which was disappointing. First I wish Reynaldo himself had showed up at the start so he and I and the fence foreman could review the fence details. It was not a good handoff as I had to explain to crew leader, who lacked good English, what I already told Reynaldo. For example the old footings need to be removed. Emperor normally just cuts off the old fence post at the bottom and puts the new one next to it but I wanted them removed. And I didn't like their standard fence which is to have the posts exposed on the nice size and the post extend well bask the fence itself. I had to go over these with the crew leader and try to explain it to him given his English isn't so great. The short fence where guest enter via a gate to the backyard has problems. First it was not place where the old one was so it appeared at an angle and not aligned with the flagstone that was already there. That took a couple of discussions and phone calls to fix. The gate latch used wasn't a good choice as it requires you to slide it open and then slide the latch closed each time you enter or leave. Most latches are self latching: just close the gate and it latches closed. Bottom line: Ask to see exactly what latch is used to be sure you get what you want. I offered to pay for a replacement latch but he wanted $170. I ended up buying one for $10 and doing it myself. There was also little things like they left a LOT of splinters where people are expected to reach over and undo the latch. Should have knocked these down with sandpaper. And some mistaken cuts left in the post. Would I hire them again? Yes but be sure you specify exactly what you want so everyone is clear from the start. read more

Emperor Fence did a fantastic job, we got exactly the red cedar box fence we wanted and it looks beautiful. Another company did not even try to meet our needs, their estimator told us our only option was a solid vinyl fence because a neighbor's fence runs along one side of our property. He claimed that the neighbor's fence was in the way. There was also some nonsense in his pitch about permits and terrain problems. Even though the vinyl options were very cheap-looking and would have weathered poorly, the cost was outrageous. Needless to say, I declined. I then found Emperor Fence online. Reynaldo's answer to all "problems" raised was "No problem!" Yes, Emperor could install the fence we wanted. No problem with working adjacent to the neighbor's fence. No problems with permits or terrain, the permits actually came in half the time we expected. Best yet, his very reasonable price quote was about the same as the cheapest vinyl option from the other company and half less than their highest vinyl option. Every single thing went smoothly - there were no glitches. I was amazed at how quickly Reynaldo's two-man crew worked. The fence was finished in two days. They also built a shelter for our waste bins, which along with final clean-up took another half-day. The guys left everything immaculate, and the two gates work perfectly. They needed no directions, Reynaldo had obviously prepped them well. Had no real communication problems, though I have no Spanish they understood everything and we got on fine. Reynaldo came by at the beginning and end, made sure we were completely satisfied and fully answered our questions. Overall, this was an excellent experience and we highly recommend Reynaldo and his team. They are real professionals. We are enjoying the privacy of our back yard and a beautiful and well-built fence. As does our wildlife - the birds love it, and the squirrels really enjoy their new "highway". I will say Emperor Fence is a good company. The owner was always very patient, polite, and responsive. He provided all the necessary documentation and examples for my fence via text, and he explained the differences between the different types of fences I was interested in. By him providing examples and explaining the differences (including in price), it made it easier for me to choose my fence type and style. Once the fence was determined, he instantly sent over the paperwork. They have different financing options that are all affordable. They installed within two days. It literally was 3 guys. The owner only came the first day, asked me to confirm specifics, informed the guys, and they went forth and completed the fence. The owner did not stay, he just told them what to do, and he left. The first day, they worked from about 8am - 5pm. They took one break for lunch for about an hour, then they were back to work. By the first day, they were halfway done. Not once during that day did they need anything or request clarity on anything. The second day, they arrived at the same time. However, this time the owner did not come with them. They completed the fence, and it is beautiful. They worked cohesively, diligently, and made sure to complete the work on time. Also, each of the men were polite, but they did not know any English (they said). Now, there are only a couple issues. One - they were going to leave without saying anything. If I hadn't caught them before they were leaving and did I walkthrough of the work, I would have had to call them back out. Two - because my yard is on an uneven terrain, it goes up and down. There were gaps at the bottom of the fence between the fence and the ground, and I had to show them in order to get them to fix it. They covered the gaps between the fence and the ground by using a 2x4. However, if I had not pointed it out, they would have left with my gate not being on the ground, and they defeats the purpose. Also, they were going to charge me an additional $400 if I wanted 2x4 to go all around the fence to ensure there were no gaps, which I think is a rip off being that you didn't cut the wood long enough to make sure it was tall enough to meet the top of the fence and the ground. They did, however, cover the majority of the big gaps. During the spring, I will cover the smaller gaps myself with 2x4 I can purchase from Home Depot/Lowes. Three - my gate door has a large gap at the bottom. I don't like it, but I think they had to do that in order for it to swing open. However, before the end of the winter, I am going to find a way to extend it closer to the ground just to ensure no animals are able to get into the yard. Four - none of them spoke English. There was one who understood a small amount, but it was very hard to communicate the small issues found with the fence during the walkthrough because they were unable to understand. Eventually, they called the owner, and I spoke with him, and he translated. They also called the owner again before they left because I wanted to speak with him to close out the agreement. Overall, my experience was good. I would recommend them to anyone that wants a fence. Just make sure you speak with the owner thoroughly, and make sure he understands exactly what you want for your fence. I would also recommend using Google translate as well. read more

I hired them to repair my fence, which was starting to fall apart with loose nails everywhere. The underlying wood was in great shape, but the nails were pulling away. The work done was excellent and for a very reasonable price. I didn't give 5 stars because the scheduling of both the estimate and the work was a mess. For the estimate, the scheduler scheduled me on her end, but it didn't show up on the estimator's schedule so he didn't come out that first day. Then for the work done, the reverse happened. Initially the repair guy had me on his schedule, but no one told me that so I wasn't home when they called to say they were on their way. It all got resolved and the repair was exactly what we wanted, but involved some headaches. The company clearly needs to work on intra-company communications. read more
