They provide truly excellent customer service...a level of service that frankly you just don't see anymore, especially in a large city. My questions and concerns were always addressed promptly and attentively. Their work is thorough and the results are of high-quality. While I can't speak for their other projects, the price for my staining project was fair and reasonable. Disappointing experience trying to get an estimate. Reached out via Yelp on a Tuesday for an estimate. They responded on Wednesday and offered me a single time slot via Yelp scheduler forMonday. Got called in over the weekend so asked about another time. No response even though they read the message. I asked again and no response. What a BEAUTIFUL job well done! I have a deck that is probably 30+ years old, and it was ROUGH (see the last two photos for before pictures). Some of the floor boards were rotting away so much that I was afraid to step on it for fear of falling through. Other boards were so frayed that it was a splinter nightmare. I worried about the safety of the deck, which made me not want to spend time out on it, or at least, not invite anyone else to spend time on it! There was also no way to access the deck from the outside, so any guests had to come through the house to access it. With a small group this wasn't a big deal, but for large neighborhood events this was a lot more difficult. I contacted 4 different companies to come out for an estimate, and Deck Impact was only one of the two companies who even answered/responded. Their estimator, Antonio, listened to what I was looking for and wasn't constantly trying to up sell me (like the other company was). He was able to give me a quote on site. My quote included replacing the floor boards, adding in another support beam underneath, painting the deck with a solid stain, and installing a spiral staircase. The work looks GREAT! I have been out on my deck ever day that hasn't been disgusting. When outside doing yard work, I've had multiple people share their adoration for the spiral staircase (which honestly has been a dream of mine since buying the house). The work ethic of their teams was incredible and they were very kind (I would leave out water and snacks, bring the dog around, etc.) and they were happy to share the different steps they were doing. They went above and beyond when small issues came up, working to fix them, which sometimes resulted in multiple trips. I know this was probably frustrating on their end, but they didn't show it to me. My only complaints, which are small and do not warrant a star deduction, but also I want to give a thorough review: sometimes, communication was lackluster. At times in the process, I had to reach out to get updates on dates when teams were coming out (after a week of not hearing anything). This very well may just be the nature of the trade, but it wasn't communicated to me that I wouldn't hear from them. But, every time I reached out I would receive a response within a day. Also after a couple of the work days (there were probably 5-6 total days teams were on site), there was a bit of trash left behind. Most of it was from demoing the floorboards, which were falling apart so I understand, but it was 3" nails and fragments of wood. The biggest concern was my dog running around. Also sometimes food wrappers and wrappers from construction materials were left in the yard. It's very possible it would have been cleaned the next time the crew was there, but with a dog, I had to spend time doing the cleanup so he wouldn't pick up something that would hurt him. Overall, I'm incredibly happy with the work Deck Impact did from start to finish and would easily work with them again and refer them to family and friends. While yes, there is room for improvement, the work they have done has made me enjoy my deck again without breaking the bank. Thank you guys so much! read more

We have an unusual house with heavy timber construction and a cantilevered upper floor; so the idea of attaching a new deck to it was a complex effort. We spoke to many deck installers who really punted on the question of including structural design as part of their service - Deck impact did not. Another unusual feature we used was walkable skylight panels to add natural daylight below. Further, we added below-deck water-proofing (known as Trex Rainscapes) to allow the patio below the deck to be enclosed for a sun-room (our next project.) Deck impact was professional and proactive throughout the process. They always had a positive attitude and sent professional crews that communicated well, and worked through the process efficiently. They are very precise carpenters, which really shows in the result. Clearly this deck presented unique challenges; and they were patient and courteous throughout the entire process. There were also many special clean-up touches that we appreciated, like putting seed and straw down in the yard work area that had been walked over, power-washing surfaces and more. If you are looking for quality, this is the company for you. For the quality of their work, they are very reasonably priced. And it was hassle free installation. The contract specified exactly what materials they would use (most offers won't mention this). Yes, a few problems cropped up with a worker that was not putting out the quality they are known for, but that was quickly remedied with me only having to point it out one time. They came out, noticed a few other things they didn't like that I hadn't noticed and redid those areas very quickly. The job: Refresh a 2 tier deck - included three sets of stairs (two sets had to be widened to meet the current building codes). For this job, everything was replaced except for the foundation pillars, ledger, and joists, rim joists, and some stringers. Top deck is 10'x26' and lower deck odd shaped 12'x16'. They used 2x6 pressure treated wood (not the typical 1") and if the span was 20' or less, there were NO SEAMS in the deck, therefore my lower deck has the planks full length - a beautiful sight and no trip factor if the joint would flay as my old deck did. Upper deck being 26' did have a staggered joining and they did a beautiful job on it. And a bragging point for them: they installed bead board on the ceiling of my screen porch and their cuts were so good that where it met the center support beam, per my request they did not install the quarter round that typically is used to hide seams. And to top off this great service, they replaced the 2x10 20' trellis boards that has a scroll design on each end of the board. Deck Impact inspector didn't like how those turned out and had them redone (at their expense). And (yep, not yet done bragging about this company), there was a massive wisteria covering that trellis (which I pruned back and got out of their way), but they're the ONLY company who was willing to work around it and did not tell me to cut it down. This is QUALITY and a REASONABLE PRICE for that quality. read more

Deck Impact reinforced and refinished our 40 year-old pressure treated wood deck and replaced the decking with composite Trex. The framing was brought up to code - a second of post & beam structure was added to make it free standing, and additional joists were added to create proper spacing. The results were amazing. Very impressed with the work. Deck Impact did several projects for us: clean and stain a wood deck, replaced (with Trex) two second floor balconies that had rotten wood, stained a stand-alone shed, replaced a warped gate, and a few smaller outdoor fixes. Carlos, the crew chief and estimator for our project, was superb: professional, prepared with great advice, responsive to the few small follow-up items, and just a super nice guy. Work crews were very professional, clean, thorough. Work was excellent. A few small follow-up issues, but all taken care of quickly and without question. We had to wait several weeks between signing contract and work completion, but that is to be expected given high demand for contractor services and weather issues. The following are my (homeowner's) experiences with the Contractor Deck Impact (DI) for replacing my previous lower and upper wooden decks and ramp with composite lower and upper decks and ramp with a pergola on each deck. 1. DI prepared plans that could not be built without disturbing the adjacent paver patio and a channel drain - to build the lower deck according to the plan, it would require removing the channel drain and part of the patio to install the deck concrete footings. 2. DI complained about the homeowner making changes to the plans when they routinely occur during construction because of necessity or benefit to the owner such as moving the lower deck away from the patio or reconfiguring the shape of the ramp to provide better gardening space. 3. DI performed and charged the homeowner for changes without submitting prior estimates for approval for the following changes: a. Moving the lower deck away from the patio and channel drain and adding a step. b. Changing the shape of the ramp. c. Adding rafters and stringers to the lower deck pergola. d. Removing soil from site from the excavation for concrete footings. e. Adding top rails on upper deck when the plans include the top rails. f. Adding an additional GFI power outlet. 4. The homeowner identified the following issues during construction that had to be addressed or corrected: a. DI marked the positions of some upper deck and lower deck posts inline when they should be offset. b. DI dug and poured some deck post concrete footings in incorrect positions. c. DI poured the upper deck southwest corner concrete footing higher than necessary. d. DI failed to completely fill some of the concrete footing holes. e. DI installed the steps between lower and upper decks with uneven riser heights. f. DI was planning to use metal brackets designed to anchor wooden posts to concrete for the connections between the decks and the pergolas' 6x6 wooden posts. g. DI installed 9' 6x6 posts for the lower deck pergola instead of 10' 6x6 posts shown on the plans. h. DI did not provide full details of the cable railing design or specify the manufacturer's style of cable railing in the plans or proposal. i. DI designed and installed the cable railing posts more than 4' apart that voided the manufacturer's warranty. j. DI failed to install blocking underneath the deck boards for mounting the cable railing posts. k. DI installed one end cable railing post slanted. 5. DI and its Office Manager (OM) were inattentive and poor in responding to homeowner's communications including the following: a. Stopped working for more than two weeks without informing the homeowner on their plans and schedule. b. The OM stated that he was not informed about the changes when he was the recipient for all the email messages including the changes the homeowner sent to DI. c. The OM never responded to the homeowner's email request for proof that the homeowner placed an order with their supplier. d. On one occasion, the OM failed to respond to the homeowner's phone, text, and email communications for five days. 6. DI marred the homeowner's properties including the aluminum fence and a vehicle. 7. DI made multiple false statements in response to the homeowner's complaint filed with the Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC). DI did not deliver on its promise to provide the plugs for the composite deck board screw holes. read more

We decided to go with deck impact based on prior reviews. First, the quality is very poor. There were nails sticking out everywhere from the wood. They didn't even place a gate to enter the yard, and it was an after thought. The gate that they did place doesn't work properly and you have to push it down to open it. The yard was left a mess with dirt and large rocks everywhere. Also they did not complete the work that was mentioned. Once they received the full payment they stopped returning calls and emails. Truly regret not going with a more reputable company. Would not recommend. Thank you Antonio. -First off this was the first time we have worked with Deck impact. No other prior projects. -Second: there is only ONE GATE, which was installed after the fence was completed realizing that there was no entrance point. You are more than welcome to come and look at the fence. We would like someone to come look at the gate bc you have push it down for it open. -Third, you told us that staining is included and to call back in two months, which we did. This was a learning experience not to trust your guys' word and to not have paid you in full until the stated and promised job was completed. read more

Hired company to fix existing landing and stairs in order to pass inspection and paid them before final inspection. Contacted company on June 21, 2019 about failed inspection to schedule remediation. As of July 24, 2019 there has not been remediation of the issues from the failed inspection or an accurate timeline for project completion established. Company stated on July 16, 2019 that issues would be fixed by the end of the week. Failure to pass inspection is delaying my project and other contingent projects. read more

Deck Medics was extremely conscientious and did a great job on our decks - which were a challenge. We had a complicated system of multiple decks made of different materials, including rainforest hardwood and pressure treated wood. They were sun damaged with warping, peeling and mold. The technicians came out multiple times to make sure each surface was treated correctly, and even did an extra cleaning when they weren't satisfied with the first go around. Our decks came out beautifully and we would definitely call them again. One note - scheduling delays (including for weather) did delay our job more than a month past its originally planned completion date, but it was worth waiting for. read more
