Very very bad experience this restaurant should definitely be reviewed bad , very bad service the lady at the front is very irresponsible about her job they asked us for an occasion we mentioned it and the cake they gave us so bad and for that silly hard frozen cake they charged us about 16 $ apart from the bad service Please do not waste your money on this restaurant they are all about show off no quality read more

My husband and I went to Deccan spice To celebrate my birthday. We ordered pahadi chicken appetizer and old Delhi style butter chicken which was the best butter chicken we have had in the US. The saag paneer was delicious. The serving sizes are large. A little on the pricey side for naans and paranthas. Definitely a must try especially for the old Delhi style butter chicken. read more

Great atmosphere, delicious food and the wait staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. We'll visit again!

Horrible service and you have to pay for water. Food is also mediocre. Don't go here!

there is no zero star review option, else I would have given 0 star. I ordered for chicken dynamite, chicken 555, dum chicken, dum mutton and Deccan spice biryani , not even one item tastes good, everything is like shit. Dont ever, like ever go to this restaurant. read more

Gosh this place is expensive. I know the menu states that Voss water is $8 a bottle but they don't tell you that's your only option, just serve you it and slap it on your bill. I didn't like that at all. Otherwise, if money isn't something you care about the food is delicious. Some of the best salmon I've ever had. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Everything was clean and beautiful. They even have a cute little robot that brings you your food! No wonder it's so expensive (; Overall would go again, but only if I had a good amount of money to blow. Thank you for the experience! read more

Veg food wasn't great. Paneer was very hard. Non veg food was lil spicy and oily but flavorful. Service was lil slow. read more

Terrible Food, Terrible Management I would never go back to this restaurant. First off, no free water. 10% for a bottle of water. Rip-off. The entrees are 30$ per dish. At least make it worth every penny. It was below average taste. Not the quality expected from Deccan Spice as there are several franchise. Cocktails first round was good, so ordered second round. Maybe the bartender thought its time to fool them. So diluted it down and it only tastes like the juice. We had discrepancy in our 1000$ bill and the manager/owner was absolutely arrogant and said "if you had it, you pay for it. Period" I guess the saving grace in all was "Apollo Fish" appetizer which was good. read more

Unfortunately this is possibly one of the worst experiences & restaurants I've had in a while. Now I want to set some expectations, I've been to very lavish restaurants with $200+/per person, I've been to beautiful restaurants in upscale areas of NY/NJ & even understand that in this COVID world we live in, we have to lower our standards & expectations somewhat. I want to start with the ambiance, sure the interior was crafted very well & had a great vibe which is probably the only reason this restaurant gets a star. Next let's move to the area, this restaurant is in Edison NJ, where you can stand in the parking lot & throw a rock to 4 other Indian restaurants priced at a fraction of this restaurant & about 6 times better with respect to all of the major categories (food, service, ambiance, location, cleanliness). Point being, this restaurant is completely out of place here, it would make more sense in NYC & people might pay the prices. Next, let's move to the pricing, this pricing is absolutely & completely absurd for the area, we paid $42 for 3 lamb chops on fire, $33 for 2 shrimp on fire & neither were a 10/10 -- probably more of a 5/10 they were decently cooked but the flavor profile wasn't there. Again, not arguing about price, more showing that you can walk to a neighboring Indian restaurant in the area & get a full order of lamb chops for a fraction of the price & better quality/taste. Lastly, I want to comment on the awful service, if we are paying $125/per person, you expect the staff to be more knowledgeable, provide top recommendations with respect to most popular dishes & local favorites -- not to mention be courteous & not act like rude/annoyed/stand-off-ish employees. One further note, being that we are still living in COVID, they had an almost packed restaurant & half the staff would be waiting around the bar area rather than tending to their guests. The last bad experience I had, when we were seated, I ordered a bottle of wine -- 43 minutes later, one appetizer & two other drinks finished the waiter came back & said they are out of that bottle of wine & to pick another -- he didn't even bring the menu nor was he kind about it at all. Bottom line -- do not go here, I do not recommend to my worst enemy & will never be dining here again. If you want better food quality & service go to any of the 10 nearby Indian restaurants in Edison NJ (recommend: Rasoi II or Moghul express). read more

$8 water bottle and 18% tip, and none of it was disclosed. That's some shady practice man, certainly unethical. Food was alright, not worth the price though. read more

These guys are big fraud. If you ask for country chicken - natukodi biryani. They give you special biryani and make us buffoon. If you say, why did I get a spl biryani instead of natukodi, they say it is not available and that's all we have. BBIIIIIIIGGGGG CHEATERRRRRRR! read more

So pricy. I would rather eat in NYC and experience the Manhattan views for the same price. Taste is average. Some options are good. But not worth the price. Avoid this place. We went for a casual dine and ended up paying 250$.. just two adults and 2 kids.. we felt robbed for the experience and quality of food. read more

This place is a joke! Extremely over priced don't even have a regular water just woss water for 8 dollars are you kidding me? Food tastes like at any other Indian restaurant that's half a price. My dish was so spicey I asked barely any spice. Also dishes won't come with rice. Staff helicopters surround you to see if you are done it's so uncomfortable. Go anywhere else but here!!! read more

Over all ambience is good but service was ok.Lollipop, old Delhi butter chicken was good.Malai chicken is was not great , there is some unusual after taste on this dish. But the manager was helpful enough to replace the dish. read more

My family and I had a great time at Deccan Spice. The ambience and service were exceptional! They offered us a tasty complementary drink with cranberry juice and curry leaves. The food was delicious and served with showmanship, I'd highly recommend the Angaarey paneer. The restaurant is expensive but offers a level of quality, ambience and service that is tough to beat in Edison! read more

Pathetic experience. Their staff is extremely rude. Never visit this place. Their manager and waiter don't know how to talk to customer. My wife had upset stomach so kept boiled water with her but they refused that bottle in table. Inhumane rules and people. Places like this should be out of business. read more

Ok, This may be just me, who the fuck is forced to pay for 'Water". at $8 per bottle may be just ridiculous. No tap water is served. Food is mediocre at best, you pay inflated prices which does not make any sense. Ambiance is ok. If you don't know how to spend your ungainful money this is the place to go. read more

We were here late July for dinner, a party of about 10. What was surprising and disappointing was that no staff members wore a mask, that despite requesting the server to wear one while serving us. Food was expected to be a bit on spicier side as it is Hydrabady - but all dishes ranging from Fish to Chicken to Goat/Lamb came out non spicy. Yes they had flavor but not what one would expect when calling for spicy. You will do best with beer or straight up alcohol here as they have no skills when it comes to mixed cocktails. We tried the place and for now at least have no desire to return. read more

No mention from the server that water isn't free? ($8 a bottle??) Wasn't expecting a $24 charge for WATER when the bill came. Really shady business practice, which is a shame because the food was tasty. For this reason I wouldn't recommend Deccan Spice and won't return. read more

Extremely overpriced. Charged for Basic things like water, onions, and lemons. Very slow service even though we were one of two parties in the restaurant. Robots to serve food was an unnecessary novelty. The food itself was pretty bland, only the paneer dish had some flavor. Not worth the price imo. read more

I have been here a couple of times - the staff are really nice, place is clean, new & modern while my kids had fun seeing Robotcart deliver food. The standard dishes ( Dum Briyani, goat Sukka, naan, chicken appetizers) are all good; the chef still needs to improve on a few dishes on the menu. It is a little pricey. read more

Great food and amazing ambience/decor. Menu has plenty of variety with Indian veg, non veg, and IndoChinese options as well

Restaurant is a total rip-off. No free tap water, they charge $3 per bottle of water, quantity of food is very small. Food is very salty oily. Don't bother complaining about food to the restaurant manager. They'll just keep arguing with you. Waste of money. read more

Restaurant had great ambiance, but the food was not to level, ordered chicken and veg dishes with garlic naan. Naan not traditional oven baked and dishes where not to as expected or freshly cooked! Extremely overpriced for the quality of food. This place is not to stay long, appears business to make quick buck Prices are too high, even for water you have to pay very high price, Cannot rate this place anything more than 1 star. read more

Worst service. I would never go to this place ever. Also will never recommend anyone. Govardhan- with regards to your below comment, we have reached out to your manager regarding the whole incident, but it was useless. Here's the whole incident- we called the server and (after a long wait) he came and we ordered some more food. Server totally forgot to add it into the kitchen call. We waited for 15 minutes and called the server two times but he literally ignored us. Finally we called the manager and explained this, she said server missed to place the order and she will take care of it. Again 10 more minutes still we didn't receive the food. They got half of the order after 10 minutes and by the time existing food was cold. We even asked to reheat the food but it wasn't even hot. We didn't finish the food and asked for check. Even they have added few extra items in our bill which we didn't even ordered. Matter of fact, we even told her that we don't want to add a tip and she mentioned it won't be added, but still we ended up paying $50 in the name of service charge. It was a nightmare. read more

If you want to go to a restaurant and be surprised with $16 water bottle then this is the place to go! There is nothing wrong with them charging $16 for water. But here is the problem: they did not disclose this in the beginning! All they had to ask was regular water or bottled water? and if they were going to charge me $16 then they better tell this to their customer! Hello, this is not the U.S. open Tennis!! But the food itself was excellent. Service was good and food was good. I am also a regular customer of Deccan Spice in Journal Square, Jersey City, NJ. Here is the feedback to the owner: Please offer regular water. Please give the customer choice and ask if someone wants bottled water or regular tap water. And if you are going to charge $16 for a bottled water, then you should let the customer know! If customers like me does not support you, I am not sure how long you are going to survive. I really want you to succeed and be there for a long time. read more

Worst restaurant service ever. I made a reservation at 8pm on a Friday evening and they had me in for 9pm. We sat at 9.10 and the waiter arrived for water at 9.35pm. (Let me tell you, water is $8 per bottle) Next, we had our order placed at 9.40 and the first round of food (apps) arrived at 10.10. Our main course arrived at 10.30 Lastly, when we ordered the bill, (of course that arrived is seconds), we found the hotel charged 18% service fee. Ideally hotels have either than written on their menu card or I will happily pay that for the service given. We approached the head of the floor and asked that it's not fair to charge for service when you feel you didn't give it. She confessed that she was short staff and service is lagging a lot. Ideally a professional restaurant will take that off. Next, we gently asked that I will be more than happy to pay the bill (either without the service tax or a reduced service tax) to which she replied: "Either pay the entire bill or you may leave without paying the bill", sounded rude and she repetitively argued that I helped you getting a reservation and you should be Thankful to this and should be giving me much more Tip than what is on the bill, To which I gently explain to her that I did call for reservations and you confirmed the reservation. I would've not have arrived to the place if there was no reservation given to me. So looking at the overall picture I just left the entire bill amount with the 10% tip rather than the 18% tip what they deserved for their service. I Deleigh I could have left without paying the bill but let's be honest and pay for what service they deserve and the food what I ate. She then followed me outside the restaurant and yelled " if you guys cannot afford any high end classic Indian restaurant you should rather not show your face is at his restaurant". This is some thing what's not professional at all. So we Demanded to speak to the manager on site to which she replied us that the manager does not have time to talk to assess like you he got more important job to do. That's my over a bad experience in a nutshell. read more

Mr Govardhan, I was not able to respond to your response to reply to my earlier review hence writing to you here again. For more details please feel free to call me on 4088933950. More details 1. The MENU were NOT fresh, they were all crumbled and looked like to have been used several times. 2. If you use VOSS water that doesn't mean you don't serve regular water, we were not served in VOSS bottles, the water was served to us using steel jars, so there is no authenticity of you using some quality water. 3. Aloo tikki -were straight out of bulk frozen which you can get in Costco and / or Indian grocery stores 4. Gobi Manchurian - A Dry Gobi Manchurian need to be piping hot and crispy, but it was soggy and had no taste. 5. Saag Paneer - The gravy was no better than green colored water. Please visit RASOI restaurant to check how thick the saag need to be. 6. Service - Even after asking to refill the water for 3-4 times we were not served water and still charged 18% service tax. With such a pathetic service it should be customer's prerogative if they want to give service tax or NOT. 7. Quality in general - Food was no better than an 8 year old learning how to cook. read more
