    Tri-tip
    Steve S.

Food quality remains outstanding. However, the prices have skyrocketed since we last came. They charged us $9 for bread, and two stamp-sized pieces of focaccia came out to greet us. For some reason, that felt excessive and rubbed us the wrong way. Didn't set the best tone. The entrées were outstanding and executed to perfection. The tri-tip was seasoned beautifully and the accompanying BBQ sauce provided a contrasting sweet kick to each savory bite. We also had the halibut which was a gorgeous umami experience, bathing in a delicious dashi. I didn't leave behind a single drop. The ambience in the outdoor patio is very romantic. At least three couples were celebrating their anniversary dinner there. It may be worth it to stop by for a rare special occasion, but otherwise I doubt we will be back anytime soon. While the food is great, the Manhattan-level pricing puts it out of reach if value is important to you.

WOW, just wow, from start to finish! Started with a glass of bubbles to celebrate our Anniversary. Our server recommended we start with the Caesar salad which was beautifully plated and perfectly dressed. I ordered the Filet and it was one of the best I've ever had. It gave Hell's Kitchen a run and as a craft, was a bit better to me! It was perfectly paired with just the right amount of my favorite sauce, Bordelaise, and had a beautiful slight touch of truffle. Hubs ordered the Mushroom Risotto that was smooth, creamy and tasty as well. The Parmesan foam was a great compliment to the earthy mushrooms. Not one person (staff) walked by without acknowledging us, checking to see if we needed something or refilled our glasses with wine or water. It was really nice to see the entire unit working well toward everyone's dining experience. Lastly, our main server answered all my questions about the menu or how something was prepared...even the long process of making Bordelaise (iykyk). His knowledge was impressive and he was much more than a server. Nicely done!

Food was delicious and imaginative. We ordered the morels appetizer but the server came back since they were out so we got the pork belly and carpaccio which were both amazing. Our entrees included the lamb loin/lamb rack and the osso bucco. The lamb was more on the rare side but edible and both very good. Dessert was unknown. We didn't see our server after he brought our appetizer and he never checked on how the food was. The hostess gave us the dessert menu and we chose our desserts but nobody ever came back and we sat there at the empty table for a long time getting frustrated and then finally decided to have dessert someplace else and get out of there. When the server came to the table, even though we had the dessert menu, he never mentioned anything so we asked for the check.

    18 hour duck wings

This was our second time going to Decant and we were very pleased. For a reservation for 2, we had cocktails, a glass of wine, soups/salad, an appetizer, two entrees and dessert for around $200. Frankly a pretty good deal for finer dining. The atmosphere is fine dining although the dress code tended to be more casual. Nice candle lit tables with plenty of room focused on quality over quantity. Our server was very kind and took all of our orders at once and he spaced them out very course appropriate. The highlight of the dinner was the appetizer: 18 hour duck wings with Mongolian seasoning. They were absolutely delicious! The other specifically notable observation was dessert. It seems far too common for most restaurants to have an average dessert, but not at Decant. The chocolate mousse was incredible and a very generous portion. Highlights aside, every aspect of the evening, from cocktails and salad to main course were just what we wanted. We did observed a party who came in and was rushing the server asking to bring things out whenever they were ready etc. If you're looking for something fast and easy, you'd be at the wrong venue. Decant is an experience meant to be savored and enjoyed, not rushed.

Phenomenal service and selection. Wonderful staff that was very informative on menu. Started with old fashion with a Blanton's upgrade. Then moved into heirloom tomatoes appetizer that made me like beets again. Went with Waygu Tri-tip with cherry sauce, smoked greens, goat cheese croquets and little brown grapes. Had a 3 oz pour of Pinot Noir with dinner. Finished with cherry dessert in a powder sugar cone of deliciousness and an Americano. Anything on the menu would be fantastic. Staff was very personable and kind. Met a lovely lady having dinner by herself and tried not to talk her ear off (wanted too) but Perla you were a joy to meet. I will be back but will always be passing through. I was just looking for a place to celebrate the Cubs making it through wildcard games and found so much more. Medford, you have gem here. Feed and protect it.

I absolutely loved this place! We just ate there for our anniversary. The service was great and the outdoor patio had a romantic ambiance. My husband had the waygu tri tip which had a Mexican inspired flare. Ancho Chile bbq sauce, tomatoes and some gooseberries! I enjoyed the halibut and I wish I remembered the pairings. It was topped with this delicious soy dashi. My husband and I thought it was the best dish of the night. We also enjoyed the Pork Belly Fritto (not pictured) and the passion fruit Panna cotta! The Panna cotta was nothing like any of the ones I had before. It was so good! 10/10 recommend

Great food (if a bit salty), with a few service misses (that did get addressed). Nonetheless, one of the better meals in southern Oregon, bringing a high-end experience to the region.

Wonderful ambiance, service and food and coming from the Bay Area that's saying a lot. We started with the beef carpaccio and fall salad - both excellent. We had the trout, lamb and steak for our main courses. All very tasty and I loved the Japanese artichokes served with the trout. So good and unique. The lamb course was a lot of meat so make sure you are hungry!

Probably the worst experience I've had in any restaurant. I called at 5 pm. The guy who answered the phone said that they were so busy that only reservation open was at 8 pm. I booked a reservation for two. When we got there at 7:50 pm, a tall, awkward looking guy with white apron and dirty white shirt at the front entrance behind their greeting podium informed us that they stopped serving at 8 pm tonight because they didn't think anyone was coming that late. I reminded him of my reservation and asked if he could check it, he just stood there like a dumbfounded, deer caught in a headlight of 18 Wheeler and said, Nothing! I don't think the restaurant deserves any rating in my humble opinion. This restaurant is in my specialty folder of Never To Return. Avoid at all cost.

This is what a $22 glass of wine looks like at Decant. Not vegan friendly. Slow service. Undercooked filet mignon.

Saw quite a few locals conversing inside, that's how you know it's good. They start with a fresh baked complimentary bread service and an absolutely delicious garlic butter. You can add a bowl of Italian Wedding soup for a few dollars extra. The pastas are the star of the show though by far. The lobster and shrimp fettuccine came with generous portions of both seafood and noodles tucked away in a savory cream sauce. Price was very good also at just under $30. Salmon was fresh and tasty as well and both the chicken Alfredo, and shrimp scampi were great. Service was also top notch, very attentive and friendly servers. Overall delicious food, hearty portions, fair pricing, and friendly staff. 10/10 would come back anytime. Highly recommend.

The restaurant's decor is charming, reminiscent of a classic Italian eatery. However, as soon as I stepped inside, I was greeted by a musty, moldy odor. Despite this unpleasant smell, we decided to take a seat. The first bread basket they served us was cold, with hard bread that seemed to have been sitting out for quite some time. It was nothing special, tasting like the inexpensive garlic bread you find in grocery stores, packaged for the oven. Fortunately, our server was attentive and friendly, bringing us a second basket of hot bread. I attempted to appreciate the mediocre bread but ultimately gave up. Throughout our meal, the server consistently checked on us and ensured our drinks were filled. We ordered a variety of dishes: lunch lasagna, lunch Alfredo, a kid's spaghetti with two meatballs, a large Caesar salad, and a 16" Audrey pizza topped with white garlic sauce, dried red peppers, artichoke hearts, chicken, and bacon. The first dish to arrive was the Caesar salad, which was disappointing. The dressing lacked complexity, missing the necessary lemon juice and anchovies. The red sauce on the lasagna tasted like it came straight from a jar, and the lasagna itself was quite unremarkable. The fettuccine Alfredo was lacking in flair as well. The portion was small, and I would recommend adding a pinch of nutmeg to the sauce and garnishing the dish with fresh Italian parsley for a better flavor. Surprisingly, the kid's plate of spaghetti and meatballs was priced at $19. I couldn't understand how that was justified. The spaghetti was overcooked, lacking the desired al dente texture, and the marinara sauce was bland. The meatballs were dense and needed more seasoning. The wood-fired pizza was the highlight of the meal for me. However, I believe they left it in the oven for a minute or two too long. I conducted a slice challenge: when I lifted a slice, it wouldn't fold at all and was overly crispy, indicating it was overbaked. For dessert, we chose cannoli and tiramisu. Unfortunately, both desserts felt average, and I was not particularly excited about either. I understand that the economy is challenging and making a profit in the restaurant industry is difficult. However, given the numerous positive reviews, I anticipated a higher standard from this establishment. Basic elements like quality bread and homemade marinara sauce could significantly enhance the dining experience. In general, my family was not particularly impressed with the food quality. On a positive note, the server and the busgirl/front end greeter were very friendly. Regrettably, I will not be ordering from here again, nor will I recommend this restaurant to others.

Unfortunately, this visit was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I've ever had. Before arriving, one member of our group called to reserve a table but was told they couldn't add her name over the phone and that she would need to do so in person. She arrived about 10 minutes later and put our name on the waitlist, with the rest of us arriving shortly after. After waiting about 15-20 minutes, one person in our group politely asked for an estimated wait time. Instead of receiving a simple update, the manager, Becky, responded in a confrontational and unprofessional manner. She accused our group of mistreating and cursing at the hostess--something that simply did not happen. No one in our group was disrespectful, loud, or argumentative. Several members of our party have years of experience working in restaurants, including serving, restaurant ownership, and family businesses. We understand how challenging the restaurant industry can be, which is exactly why we were so shocked by the manager's behavior. Rather than de-escalating the situation or addressing our concerns respectfully, she raised her voice, continued making accusations, and ultimately told our entire group to leave. We never expected immediate seating, especially with a large party. Our only question was about the expected wait time. A professional manager should be able to answer a reasonable question without creating unnecessary conflict. As a result, Olive Garden lost the business of 11 paying customers that day, and unfortunately, our group will be choosing other restaurants in the future. In all my years of dining out, I have never been asked to leave a restaurant under circumstances like these. The staff members we interacted with were not the issue. This experience was the direct result of poor management and a complete lack of professionalism. I sincerely hope Olive Garden provides additional leadership and customer service training for its managers, because no customer should be treated the way we were.
