Decadent Mud... with pretzels, fruit or just a spoon full!

We stop at this winery on a Saturday afternoon. Believe we were the first guests that day. First thing that Sherri said was that this winery is like no other, and she was 100% right. She explained every single mixture. We did the flight sample. We went back the following week for a few bottles and a must not forget. Their chocolate mud! So good on everything.

    Chocolate fondue and mudslides!

This was our first visit here and we were so impressed!! Jillian was fantastic at taking us through our tasting and made the most delicious cocktails! We also enjoyed the delicious chocolate fondue. The service was just great. The live music was very good also. All in all, everything was fantastic!

Of course I wanted to support a local Texas biz and my partner in crime and I decided to make this our meal of the day! Glad we did too. I ordered the Apollo aptly named after their Great Dane since it was loaded with roast beef, ham, bacon, and creamed corn on a baguette. Well toasted and delicious, my tummy was fully satisfied! I coupled my sandwich with some Miss Vicki's chips and a drink for a few bucks extra. My PIC went for the Cooper and chowed down on buffalo chicken, bacon, lettuce, pepper jack on a brioche for his lunch. The Cooper was also full of flavor and hit the spot! Service was friendly and our lunch was served with a smile and a thank you. As for the ambiance, it was low key which gave us a chance to talk about our lunch and the option to get some Amy's ice cream afterwards lol Unfortunately, we were stuffed afterwards so we 86'd the idea. I also found out that a portion of what they make goes to supporting a local shelter too!

We walked in there was a younger boy playing on a computer and a nice lady behind the counter. Not one customer. The place was a mess. The pictures of dogs were very cute and colors of the facility were uplifting but very sticky and dirty. Cleanliness: Ok here is where I had a huge issue. The nice women was I'm guess "teaching" her son in Assuming how to take orders And make food. He is not ready for Any of that.... He had a hard time taking our order which was ok everyone needs to start somewhere. BUT UGH HE HAD GLOVES ON AND KEPT TOUCHING HIS NOSE AND SHIRT THEN THE FOOD. I was like WTF. My husband begged me not to point out this major health issue. I get it he's young and learning but touching every object without changing gloves like wtf is the point of the glove. He touches his face/ mouth and nose 3 times I literally counted. I get people need to learn as I said but not with others food. We will not be returning due to the health risk issue :/

Fabulous barbecue! Drove to Llano on SH 29. It's on the right before you get in town…read more Inconspicuous signage says it's only open Saturday and Sunday. Opens at 11. You get to Tumlinson's before you reach the much more popular and more crowded Cooper's in town. Arrived around 1:30 on Saturday and there was only one car in the parking lot. No one else in the restaurant but no matter, the food is incredible! I don't believe there is something as the "best" barbecue. I think that there is a sort of supreme level that has a great smoke ring, a great bark, quality meat and basically melts in your mouth. So tender you can break it up with a fork but I might use a knife so I can create smaller pieces. THIS PLACE IS ALL OF THAT with perfect rendering and a master class in what a brisket should be. 5 out of 5. As good as any I have ever had and what I expect as the top of what barbecue brisket can be. The ribs were cooked perfectly with bountiful meat on the bone. The rub was not noteworthy but they were tasty and led me to use the sauce. The sauce is excellent - thick and vinegarry with a hint of sweetness. Only ordered one side - the potato salad. Much better than most. Not what I would put in the best category but totally worth eating. The pickles and onions? Wow! I wouldn't bother mentioning unless they were amazing. (Or terrible.) These were amazing! What I loved was that they cut up the onions in chunks rather than slices. The pickles were chunks of whole dills and not canned sliced pickles. Finally, I'll get to the ambiance. It's spacious with lots of seating inside. Good a/c. Two small windows that look out across the beautiful Hill Country for miles. Since the wildflowers were in epic form on the drive, the view was amazing this day. But it would be excellent without them. I should have taken a picture but I was too busy eating. We left Tumlinson's SmokyTop and went to Cooper's and as a comparison, I give the edge to Tumlinson's. The briskets were both in the same top echelon of what I expect a smoked brisket to be, but I think Tumlinson's was just slightly better. But where Tumlinson's crushes Cooper's is in the ambiance/atmosphere. Cooper's seating is indoor with no real outdoor tables. So you eat in a confined, windowless room that is not inviting. No music playing. Tumlinson's with no one else in it was memorable. I couldn't wait to get out of Cooper's. Felt a little creepy. Finally, Tumlinson's was selling brisket at $24 per pound while Cooper's was $26.99. This part is insignificant to me for the most part but there is a real price difference. Final verdict - Tumlinson's 5 out of 5. Cooper's 4.8 out of 5.

Menu is on the wall and you order and pay at the counter. We got 1lb of ribs which comes with 3-6 depending on their size, 1 side of green beans and 1 side of potato salad, and a sweet tea. Total was about $40 My husband said these were the best ribs he's ever eaten. They had the right amount of smoke, the meat was juicy and fell off the bone. They don't have a lot of seasoning so the smoke and rib flavor really shinned through. The greens beans were the thick kind with onions and butter. Would definitely return.

Seems to be plenty of parking in the back and there is dining inside. I am not sure when they open, but when I got there just a little after 1pm on a Sunday, they had already sold out of the ribs. I ended up getting a pulled pork sandwich with a side of potato salad. Overall, I would say the pork was satisfactory, but I probably wouldn't order it again. The meat was very salty and I almost didn't finish it. There was quite a bit of fat with the meat. Topped with a few pickle chips but overall, pretty dry and again, way too salty. I will likely come back to try some ribs and brisket but I see I need to get there much earlier if I want that. The staff are nice. I was also shocked to see the prices. Someone posted a photo of their menu back in August 2024 (not even a year ago) but already the meat prices have doubled and in some... more than doubled.

This place is so worth it. The turkey was 12/10. It was nothing like I have ever had. It had flavor and was juicy like chicken. The pulled pork was 10/10. The slaw was not much to my liking but the beans and potato salad were good. There were cups for free water. They had vinegar, normal, espresso, and spicy barbecue sauce. I do not normally like barbecue sauce but Franklins is great. The spicy one was perfect. Overall, I thought waiting an hour was great. That is the longest weve ever waited for bbq, BUT SO WORTH IT! I do not ever order brisket because it's usually disappointing, dry and bland. However, this brisket was none of those things. It was everything a brisket should be!!! The other meats were delicious as well. The banana pie was incredible, the crust tasted almost like a cookie crumble. The potato salad is more of a mustard base, and cole slaw isn't too wet but I filled up on everything else and didn't eat much of it. After we finished eating, we even got a tour of the smokers! They are on a rotation, always smoking brisket and rotating staff to keep watch over it, and they use post oak wood. The staff were all so precious and friendly. My family thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would totally stand in line again :D
