Four of us went to De Blasio's for dinner on a Friday night and we all had a great time and wonderful food. The Calamari appetizer was the best ever! All of the entrees were more than anyone could finish and perfectly done. The seafood, pasta, veal, and salads were all over the top. Service was prompt and courteous. The service was friendly and the food was wonderful. My manicotti was clearly freshly made, which is hard to find. I would definitely return. Even the wedding soup (which contained chicken) has a great flavor. Normally wedding soups with chicken are wedding soups I can't stand. The atmosphere is okay. Solid but not spectacular. Portions are big and I think that's part of why people generally keep coming back. Service was really good but kitchen was a little slow (we took almost 2 hours for dinner--an app and entrees). Our meals--eggplant parm and manicotti--were good, but there are other Italian places I'd probably choose first. Fried zucchini appetizer was light, crispy, not at all greasy and probably my favorite part of the meal. Deblasio's is an old school Italian American restaurant. Four of us had a great lunch at DeBlasio's today. Upon entering, you are transported to a quaint old-world feel Italian restaurant with friendly service and good food. We arrived at Noon, and the place had plenty of tables. By 12:30 pm, the lounge was busy, and by 1 pm, the dining room was filling up. We enjoyed the delicious wedding soup, side salad, broiled sole with broccoli, meat raviolis, veal parmigiana, and the Italian sub. Everything was well prepared with large portions. While we were full, we couldn't resist the dessert tray and took two home--one tuxedo cake and the other a lemon cello cake. Well done, DeBlasio's! read more

This place never disappoints! I've been coming here for years and everything is always exactly the same. Old school Italian decor inside including full dinning room and bar. Our waiter whom just happened to have a full Italian accent made our experience even more authentic. I ordered the wedding soup to start and for my entree I went with the chicken parmigiana and a side of angel hair pasta. Everything was delicious as usual! I thought this place was pretty good. The portions are huge! The service is good. And the food was good. A few misses though - the food wasn't hot. It may have sat for a bit due to how busy they were. Also there wasn't enough sauce on the chicken parm or pasta. That was the disappointing part. Quit going to Blasio's about a year ago because of the disrespect shown to my Medic Alert dog. They even refused him water. " It's against the Health Department. Additionally, my companion would order water with lemon and they would state they were not allowed to that. Fast forward to yesterday, my friend and I decided to go to Deblasio's because my dog would not be with us. We were walked balk through a mostly empty restaurant to a table ine table away from the rear exit. A table right next to a couple sitting at their table. This in a rom with 10 empty tables. My friend ordered spaghetti with water and lemon. No problem. Her water even had lemon in it. I myself ordered the Cream of Chicken and Vegetable soup, a medium rare NY strip steak and green beans. I have probably had a worse steak but I cannot recall when. My steak was obviously a NY strip but it was either rare or a Pittsburgh blue steak. Hard to tell. Additionally, the steak was not seasoned. Not in the least. To be honest, I probably could have sent it back but the quality of service at Deblasio's has significantly declined over the past few years. My friend and I have decided that Deblasio's no longer suits us. No big loss. read more

This was my first time at DeBlasio's so I wasn't sure what to expect meeting a friend for lunch, but I wasn't disappointed. There is a lounge section, and a dining section to the restaurant both of which are decorated in what one would expect of an Italian establishment. The dim lighting lends to the ambience with the experience, (it was dark inside on a bright sunny afternoon outside). I ordered the Ravioli (with Meat) which came with choice of salad or soup, I went with soup. My friend got the Turkey Club with fries, which was a good size sandwich. The Wedding Soup was a nice cup of comfort with pasta, tiny meatballs and a tasty broth. My ravioli came with a nice chunk of bread and butter which was perfect to clean up the tomato sauce. The ravioli (4 of them) were nicely chewy, and filled with a tasty beef filling, they weren't drowning in sauce, but had just enough to flavor everything well. My friends Turkey Club was large enough for her to take half home. No complaints from us for a nice lunch. read more

Such a hidden gem! Came here for dinner last Friday night, not many places in this part of town open to dining right now. They have every other table closed and seem to take precautions seriously which was appreciated. Our server was great, attentive and our food came at just the right time. I had the shrimp and lobster Florentine (pictured) which was so delicious, the sauce was melt in your mouth good! It came with soup or salad and the soup of the day was wedding soup. It was good just not hot enough - was about room temp - no biggie. There's also complementary bread and butter which was nice. They make Arnold palmers which were the right touch! DeBlasio's is absolutely my NUMBER ONE of my three #1 top Italian restaurants in the Pittsburgh area. OMG, I have never had a better Lasagna EVER. It's large with many layers and includes actual ricotta cheese, meat (not only meat sauce), fresh spinach and fresh mushrooms, and it's to die for! Their raviolis are homemade and both the meat filled and cheese filled are equally incredible. All of the veal dishes are made and prepared with the best, most tender top quality veal. They run daily specials, and make a phenomenal Liver & Onions entree, sometimes on Thursdays. They also make a killer Stuffed Pork Chop, with real stuffing, that is so perfectly prepared, but you cannot finish it all. Also, I have never had a better Italian Wedding Soup. Everything about it is great to the last drop. My husband goes to DeBlasios for lunch pretty often too. He loves the Veal and Peppers Sandwich. The service is always perfect too. Our usual server is GIACOMO, who has become a dear friend. He is the epitome of a true experienced Professional Waiter. He could fit in to any 5-Star NYC restaurant in a heartbeat. Wow! But we, along with DeBlasio's are really lucky that he's here in Pittsburgh. The restaurant is immaculate! Everything about this place sparkles. The bathrooms are always perfectly clean and maintained, which is huge when it comes to a restaurant. I always say that if the bathrooms aren't clean, then neither is the kitchen. One of my favorite places when I first moved to the Burgh so many years ago....it has been too long since I've been here! Still as good as I remember! Fried provolone sticks, there is only two of them, but trust me, that's plenty! Still so delicious! We have been going to DeBlasio's for years! We even had my mother's wake there. The food and service had always been great. Last night was a very different experience. Colleen was so rude, then at the end of our meal as I was trying to put on my coat Colleen said:" JC (I won't use His name) get out of my way already. I'm trying to take care of another table." We had already paid our bill and she got her tip. which was generous considering we were charged $5 to split a plate (two pieces of chicken) then we were charged $6 for paying with a credit card. That is where the other $11 of her tip went. She continued to be so rude, I said I was just getting my coat on. We had been visiting my friend we had not seen in a while on our way through town. Colleen continued to use "JC" again to tell me to hurry up. So disappointed in this service. If we go back, I will be sure to ask NOT to have Colleen for our server. She treated us like she was doing us a favor by waiting on us. I guess she does not realize we were paying her. If she had not taken the check & tip off the table trying to get rid of us I would have taken back the $20 cash tip. We had plans downtown and needed a close by restaurant between the house and town. Had not visited here since I was little and I was missing out. It still has the old classic look but very quaint and cozy. We were seated immediately and greeted for drink order as well. Our server was very nice and attentive and went above and beyond. We ordered the famous zucchini appetizer ( very lightly coated) and great sauce. My mom ordered the veal parm and I had chicken Romano both large portions with sides of pasta. We had to go boxes. This is an old style Italian restaurant and bar that could use a little redecorating. It seems to be stuck in the 70's with darker hue. The bar is separated from the dining room. Haven't been here in a lifetime. A good friend who I haven't seen in a long time called and set up lunch. There were many getting take out, but we eat in. Everyone had on masks and they seemed to have the tables spaced apart and notice sanitizing after others left. We received some fresh bread to start. My wedding soup was delicious. Had crab cakes that were just OK. Not as sweet and tasty as I would like. The crab cakes came with some broccoli that was cooked perfectly except it was a little on the cold side when I received it.
