This was my third time at Vivo, and somehow it keeps getting better every visit! I went with a group of friends this weekend, and we ordered a little bit of just about every appetizer so we could experience as much of the menu as possible. Every single dish was outstanding. The duck is hands-down the best I've ever had--perfectly cooked and packed with incredible flavor. For my entrée, I had the scallops with carrots, and they were absolutely phenomenal. The scallops were cooked to perfection, and the carrots paired beautifully with the dish. Our server was fantastic--friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Between the exceptional food, wonderful service, and inviting atmosphere, it's easy to see why I keep coming back. If you're looking for an amazing dinner in Sewickley, I can't recommend Vivo enough. read more

My son and I went to Vivo for fun last week. It was great because they have a nice wine list to choose from. We also had the chicken and my son ordered the flatbread. Oddly enough I ate his flatbread and he ate my chicken. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Although the space is not very large it was also not loud. This is a hidden gem, Vivo Kitchen is small but has not disappointed. The menu changes almost weekly. I am bias since I worked the hostess post for a season. I loved the humans that came in, the ambiance, music on those nights that weren't too busy. I came in for a dinner date and we went simple. Mules and bartender Josh is a magus. Two of everything, from starters; Caprese flatbread and goat cheese mushrooms. New York strip steak and herbed goat cheese with a side of braised cabbage. Also The pork chop with a side of sirloin potatoes. Finally dessert, cheesecake! (I think I saw my husband go into a coma rolling his eyes back from cheesecake.) Mind blowing, perhaps. I moved to Pittsburgh 2 and a half years ago and this place has been on the list of restaurants I wanted to try since then. I finally got to try them out this Valentine's Day. 30 minute moderate drive from the city. Decent amount of street parking but I can imagine it gets tougher and busier days around the area. The cocktail and food menu wasn't as varying as I would've hoped for. They didn't really have craft cocktails, just your standards. My suggestion would be to add some creativity to the drinks menu. The food menu wasn't anything superb neither. But I did enjoy it. The dessert was also satisfactory. The service was fine, average/slightly above. The atmosphere was busy, dim lighting, mild to moderate noise even though the restaurant was packed for a special night. Overall, definitely a lovely neighborhood restaurant for date night. Would I come up from the city again to eat here? Probably not but I'm glad I got to cross it off my list and enjoyed my time while I was there read more

The service, drinks, and ambiance were good. The food was not. The two orders of the terra cotta shrimp were over cooked. Three orders of the crispy whole chicken were dry and flavorless. Food & drinks were great! Everything we ordered was cooked and seasoned perfectly with great portion sizes. The goat cheese on top of the strip steak was my favorite, it complimented the steak so well. The tables do sit closer together as the inside space isn't that spacious, but I imagine during warmer weather when the patio is open it is a great vibe! Our server unfortunately wasn't the friendliest and seemed annoyed with us the whole time which made the whole experience slightly uncomfortable. read more

I had the best birthday dinner at Vivo Kitchen! This was our first time visiting Vivo, but it has been on my list for quite some time! You definitely need to make a reservation because it is a very intimate space. The hostess and our waitress were both amazing! They were welcoming and inclusive. Although my boyfriend and I are 29 and 30 years old, we look much younger, and we don't always get treated with respect in nicer restaurants. I really appreciate the restaurants that treat us well! The food was divine. We ordered the Pesto Crustini as our appetizer, and I can't speak highly enough about the pesto... YUM. I had the shrimp in a chili sauce with potatoes for my entree, and my boyfriend had the whole chicken with potatoes. My shrimp was great, but the fried chicken was even better! The chicken was hands down the best I've ever had. Our waitress put a candle in our dessert, which was a great finishing touch! Came here for a business event recently and was very impressed. Quick summary: -I was visiting from NYC and love nothing more than a high quality meal. Vivo Kitchen exceeded my expectations -Everything was family style, but I made an effort to try everything put out. All ingredients were fantastic. From the veggies to actual proteins (salmon, steak, pork loin). The crab dip also stood out. -Didn't drink, but this place has quite the bar. Lots of great options, some of which you probably won't find anywhere else in the area -Sam (the owner) and his staff were all warm, welcoming, and professional. If you live within an hour of Vivo Kitchen, this should be your go-to place. Will absolutely be back if the opportunity allows when I'm back in the Pittsburgh area. read more

We went to this place on a Friday night. We arrived at the time of our reservation and were seated almost immediately. The restaurant, including the bar area, was full and packed. The ambiance was consistent with a Japanese-inspired cafe. Abstract and minimalistic decoration. The dining area was relatively small and the tables were close to each other. It is a good place for a date if you don't mind your neighbors listening to part of your conversation! The service was fast and friendly. We ordered their roasted peach salad and cold octopus for appetizers, scallops and fried fish for the main course, and pot of chocolate and crème and gelato for the dessert. Everything, including the wine, were well prepared, good looking, and tasty. The portion size was relatively small ( for example, I got four scallops) but we saw on the other tables that their meat dishes are larger. So if you are hungry, a streak or pork chops would be a better option than scallops. The price was high. I cannot say overpriced but $140 before tip for two persons is high. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and recommend this place for a pleasure dining experience. read more

OK, so on this evening I tried three other joints in Sewickley and was still seeking the right combo of decent wine list, decent cocktail list and decent food as I hadn't found it yet... Until coming here, which was my last stop. Josh was working the bar and he was very informative, knowledgeable and helpful. The vibe in here was excellent, with a large, beautiful patio to sit & dine, as well as a nice dining room and bar scene too. They actually have a legit wine program, featuring interesting, fun, and some unique bottles as well as well-known offerings. They have a really nice food menu too. But after noshing at the three previous joints (even though I didn't eat all my food at each), I was rather full, but I did see an interesting succotash-style dish and I gave it a try - AMAZING! Right spice and combination of flavors! When I'm back in the area, I'm definitely coming back here for dinner and to enjoy their wine list! I've always heard great thing so had high expectations! Vivo Kitchen lived up. The wine selection was great and my friend loved the sangria. While the menu changes, if you are able to get the marinated tomatoes and burrata, I would recommend it. The entrees were also very good. Fairly priced and good service. Nice little restaurant with a side patio and had warmer, just not the night we were there since it was really cold. Will have to try in warmer weather. The inside is nice size but not large with a bar that seats about 8 people that was full. Really liked the wine list with some good selections. Great bartender too. Service was very good. The food was very well prepared and so good. I had the pork chop that was large and cooked perfectly. My carrot side was a tad overcooked but good. The drinks were mixed well and the wine selection is pretty substantial...I recommend the Dogecoin Millianaire Basilcello. Yummy!!! For entrees the Braised Short Ribs, Australian Lamb Chops, and the Shrimp with Mango Chutney. We did enjoy small tapas which were really tasty and made with love. Very modern interior restaurant and bar and a beautiful garden like outside patio area right off the side of the building, Vivo Kitchen is a great restaurant for any person at any time of the year. We started with the marinated cheeses and warm olives but could have gone with just about any appetizer based on how good everything looked! Olives were delicious and the serving was large with a nice variety. The Duroc pork chop was one of the best I've had in the city. I always liked trying pork chops and this was juicy and full of flavor with the peppered onions and peppers and the fingering potato side went perfectly with the chop. I enjoyed a refreshing serving of the fig ice cream (which I could've had five servings of) and a great wine and drink menu through the experience. Can't wait to go back read more

Unacceptable to have the hostess come to your table and pressure you to leave because the "next reservation has arrived and this is their table". Been here a few times and first time we felt rushed, but can see from other reviews now that it's not unusual. We weren't even there more than 10 minutes after eating dessert when this happened. I'm not sure if she was directed to do this or did it on her own but either way it's unacceptable to make guests feel rushed. Having been a server before, I get the need to turn tables, so we'd never camp at a table. The business and servers earn their keep by turning the tables but it has to be done so respectfully and without making people feel rushed and not wanted. The food and server were excellent, but feeling welcome is what brought us back. Other places have excellent food AND make you feel welcome. read more

A great place to go even on a chilly fall night as they have a nice outdoor fire pit heating the patio to combat the cold (and for those like us who prefer social distancing outdoors during covid times). Staff was wearing masks and tables were spaced appropriately. The food was delicious. Corkage fee is $20 if you bring your own wine, but they also have a nice wine list. We enjoyed the late summer heirloom tomato salad appetizer, scallops with chimichurri, fingerling potatoes, pork rib chop and green beans. Would definitely go back. Nice night out! read more

The noise level was a major distraction to an otherwise enjoyable evening but not enough to offset the 5 I think it deserves. We ordered the chicken, the chimichurri pork chop and the burrata and chips and dip for an appetizer. The pork chop was the best of the meal. A member of our party was running late due to unforeseen circumstances and even though we ordered drinks and appetizers we were told our table had to be done an hour and a half after our reservation despite at least 5 other tables being open. We had even ordered an entree for our other party member in anticipation of their arrival at this point. We felt rushed through our very expensive meal. This was my first time here and unfortunately I didn't take any photos but the restaurant is adorable and cozy. We went on Light Up Night Sewickley and I made a reservation weeks in advance. Loved it here. The space is very inviting and attractive. The outdoor seating is lovely. We sat indoors and the windows were wide open on the first warm night of the year and had a fabulous dinner. This really feels like you step outside the village of Sewickley and into a successful urban eatery. Brussels sprouts and mushrooms desserts were very well executed. I love Brussels sprouts and these were especially good. For dinner I had the porterhouse steak which came out over top of a nice plating of spaghetti squash. The steak was phenomenal and perfectly rare. Everyone at the table loved their meals. Next time I'll get the scallops which looked really good. Dessert- gelatos! We all had one scoop of malted chocolate and one scoop of Heath. Both were really good. Service was great. The venue is loud and it was sometimes hard to communicate with the waiter.
