I decided to come here yesterday as I saw Shibuya on Eater DC as one of the 38 essential restaurants in the city (this is the bar at Shibuya). I'm not sure why it's on the list as it's just a basic place. The sake I had was good and the sushi was basic quality and $52, which was high for the Chef Selection Nigiri of around 12 pieces. Pleasantly surprised on this one! Docking one star for there not being a distinction between bar and restaurant feel. Had the combination yakisoba noodles and a sushi roll. Sushi roll was good and the cocktail I had was mediocre but those noodles were something else! It was delicious! The presentation was great and didn't know what to expect flavor wise but it was a lovely savory, lightly sweet and spicy mix. The meat was cooked perfectly and flavorful too. On a trip to DC, first post covid fun trip. Hit up a few Michelin rated restaurant（good too) but death punch/shibuya shows that you don't need to have a star to have a good meal. Upstairs death punch is like a divey punk bar in vibe, with an awesome server named Ian that made us feel right at home. This has been the worst experience I have had in the DC area. At 2 in the afternoon, the bartender was more worried about taking shots than actually serving paying customers. There are a few times a year where you can go to such a highly decorated Christmas bar. And I'm not talking a few decorations, I'm talking super in your face and overboard. Death Punch was taken over by Miracle, for a pop-up Christmas themed bar. Super fun, Christmas music blaring, and everything from the drinks to the bathrooms are Christmas themed. Drinks are $16, shots are $8, and food is $10-20 range. Food is good! It's Japanese food from shibuya, authentic and delicious. The drinks are awesome and very strong! With a 90 min reservation I was told my reservation ended 30 min after arriving and that I needed to close my tab and move. No one took our seat and it seemed like a targeted homophobic attempt for my male date and I (also male) to move us away from the straight men watching football. This totally ruined the experience not to mention the loud music (including a totally weird playlist of holiday songs thrown in with 80s music) and overpriced cocktails $16- hot buttered rum served lukewarm and a gingerbread old fashioned with a 1oz pour absorbed by the snowball ice cube that sucked up the remaining drink. we're visiting from orlando, fl and we love this place!! the music is 10/10. They have all you can drink for $20 from 4-7. I got the ramen bowl. it was a bit bland but that's okay, the amazing service and vibes made up for it :) . You do have to show proof of vax to dine in. We had so much fun here!!!! Geez I reserved the miracle pop up for myself and five friends. When we arrived it was less than desirable. Not anything like the hype or pictures. Just a blow up grinch, some plastic walk hangings and tacky lights with fringe. To make it worse they wouldn't let us order from the outside menu. Had a fun holiday night out with some friends, and planned to cap it off at the Miracle Pop-up hosted by Death Punch. The line was a formidable sight, and took us nearly 30 minutes to get in the door. Once we finally got in, we were impressed by the decorations but realized it was confined to a small portion of the restaurant. We found a spot at the bar and waited to be served, waiting a while because they were understandably busy. We tried to get the bartenders attention several times to no avail. When we finally got a response nearly 15 minutes later, we were greeted with a curt "I have to make drinks for the whole restaurant, order at the end." Then why did they let us stand there trying to get their attention the whole time without just politely redirecting us? Not even a sign or anything. It wasn't particularly late in the night either, I imagine it would get even worse - so not sure how the bartenders could handle it. The ultimate line looked to take us another 20 min so we just cut our losses and went elsewhere. Especially considering how expensive the drinks were going to be, definitely not worth your time. read more

I approached the bar, and grabbed a menu, and realized it was the wrong one and put it back. I immediately apologized to the bartender who said "yeah it's fucking weird you did that." We went for happy hour Friday night and the bartender was extremely unprofessional. He spilled the drink he gave me and then was tending to other people, which is fine. But every time he was free, we would raise our hands. We were not belligerent. Then he YELLED at us about stopping and then finally came to help us order. This place is the worst. I made a reservation over the phone for their holiday pop up bar. But had to cancel due to COVID exposure. When making the reservation I was told by the associate as long as I cancel 30 min before I would not get charged their $50 fee. I canceled hour and half before my reservation because I had just found out I tested positive for COVID. Mind you, I at least remembered to cancel even while in pain and fever and having trouble breathing. When I called to ask for the refund, both associates, including the manager, kept interrupting me not letting me get a word in and blamed me for not canceling on time. I made a reservation here for their holiday pop up multiple days up in advance. I showed up within 5 minutes of my reservation time, after I had to wait in a line to get in. was told I had missed the window to get my table. My receipt said that the table was given up at 9:47 pm, only 2 minutes after my reservation time, at a bar with a line outside. We were told we could go in and stand, but there was no room and no way to get up to the bar and order. This is absolutely ridiculous. I would never attend this bar again in my life. read more

I tipped 20% on my drinks and then when I checked my credit card a few weeks later they had fabricated my tip amount. This resulted in them adding $10 to my original 20%. Not cool! read more
