Tipical pool place/bar. Its down stairs in a basement. Cell service is bad unless on wifi. They have darts and shuffle board games too. The dart boards are pretty close to each other so not a lot of room between the players/ people watching. Good/ standard beer collection. True pool players joint with nicely maintained tables and great atmosphere. As my partner stated best after our visit the other night, this is a "fake dive bar".... $15 dollars for pool which is absolutely ridiculous, considering we have NEVER had to pay that much to play some pool at a bar. Typically it's quarters to a dollar or whatever. But besides from that the drinks were not great, partner asked for a Jack & coke & I got a watered down & terribly made Paloma. The only perk is that the darts are $2 and made the experience doable for us & less grumpy about the poorly made drinks. Due to the overpriced pool & terrible drinks & not so great service from the bar, not giving this place a high ranking on my list of dive bars I've experienced thus far. Ubered here as well & not worth it.... Should have gone anywhere else & will be going elsewhere next time we visit the D.C. area. read more

After being told that we had one group ahead of us by one bartender when putting our names on the waiting list for a pool table, a little over 45 minutes later, our group noticed that two tables had cleared. Upon approaching the second male bartender and asking if it was our turn, he stares at me and says that a couple bros were ahead of us still, and that they had been waiting since 7 PM, even though it was now 1 AM, which honestly didn't make much sense. Upon freezing from being a little shocked, I was promptly told that I was "preventing" him from giving the other group the pool balls, and "did I have a problem?" Not the vibe me and my friends were looking for. We were bummed but very happy to leave. read more

This is a really cool bar, and a good place to grab a drink. However, one bartender (short dark hair, with ear piercings), is incredibly rude to customers. When playing pool, I had someone take the table following a game, I then allowed them to play using my balls, and just said that I will transfer the balls over to their tab. The bartender mentioned above then proceeded to lecture me for over a minute launching into a tirade about how I must return the balls in order for the tab to be cleared. This was fine, however I did not appreciate being chastised for attempting to do something nice for another customer. I found the bartender to be rude, inconsiderate, abrasive, and outright disrespectful. Later, a group of drunk guys broke a glass over by the dart boards and ran away. The same bartender mentioned above proceeded to come over and chastise my friends, blaming them for the incident. Again, he was outright nasty to my group of friends. To top it all off, he had the audacity to play nice, smiling and acting like nothing happened immediately after laying into me about the pool balls, ONCE THE TIME TO PAY THE BILL AND HIS TIP came around. In short, he treats customers like a nuisance and then plays nice when its time for him to be paid. I found this to be petulant and disingenuous, others did as well. TL;DR: Bartender is rude, petulant, disrespectful, and disingenuous to customers. Bar is cool, and could be a great vibe otherwise, but this guy drives away customers. read more

The male bar tender who was keeping track of pool tables on 1/5/24, ear piercings was a total knobsucker. Never met a bartender as rude as this dude. He Deserves a kick in the pecker! Edit: I fully believe this is the same guy mentioned in other reviews. Short dark hair with earrings. He was complaining about the bouncer picking up too many empty glasses and returning them to the bar. If you've ever worked in service, you would be hard pressed to find a bouncer who helped out in such a way. I stand by the pecker kicker comment. read more

An often overlooked spot in Adams Morgan, don't neglect making a visit for a fun, casual hangout with friends or for a fun date night! They have HH specials daily, a nice mix of beers on tap as well as a full bar- and most of all the games! There are three dart boards (only $2 for darts, no time limit), two shuffleboard tables, two fooseball tables, a buckhunter game - and about 5 pool tables. The pool tables you'll need to put your name on a list at the bar and they are in high demand. Once you get a pool table there's no time limit but you are charged by the hour and by number of players. But this place is SO FUN. Bedrock is one of Northwest's most unpretentious bars and probably the District's best pool hall. Cheap beer on tap, more interesting craft beers by the bottle, four pool tables, darts, and games. What's not to love? Yes, it's difficult to get on a table, but they're well worth the wait. It's BYO food (a plus in my book) and now vaccination-mandatory (they actually check records along with your ID when you walk in). It's also a wonderful respite from the craziness of 18th Street on a Friday or Saturday night. Also props to the literal Dungeons and Dragons crew shamelessly playing a session in the corner. This place is more of a dive bar than a pool hall. My boyfriend and I came to play pool on a Monday which ended up being a league night. So we expected a wait. The bartender told us to specifically come back at 9-9:30 and we were added as the first people to the waitlist. We were not expecting to arrive at 9:30 and wait until 10:45 with every league table still playing except for one table which was being run by either an actual bartender or just someone who was good friends with one (she was walking behind the bar and grabbing drinks as she rotated everyone she knew onto her table (I'm sure not paying the 4 person premium)). Obviously we never got to play. All this to say I would not waste your time here unless you are friends with the bartender. read more

There are also multiple sitting areas if you get there before they are taken. Put your card down for a pool table and you'll get one in around 45 minutes plus or minus depending on how packed it is. BB hosts TWO (2) tournament grade Tornado foosball tables on the premises!! I have yet to find another spot in DC that has devoted floor space to these jewels. Sometimes, people even know how to play without blindly spinning the rods. A quarter machine conveniently breaks $1's and $5ers to keep the fun going. BB is a wonderful, unpretentious basement pool hall off of the busier AdMo strip on 18th street. Classic local hangout! This space is at least as old as I am, and I swear some of the patrons have been going since it opened. This spot is "hidden" down a staircase between stores in a way that makes you feel like you know some sort of local secret. You enter a island style bar filled with regulars. The drinks are cheap (probably most reasonable beers in the city) and there is loads to do. Pool, darts, foosball, shuffle board, some arcade games. The decor is a mix of bar stools, reflective high tops and mismatched couches- in a way that makes you feel like you are in your living room (in the casual laid back sense, I get that reflective high tops arent in standard living rooms). If you are from the neighborhood, you can expect to see some of the local bartenders and servers from other Adam's Morgan spots taking it easy. A low key basement dive with low-fi decor ala Rocket Bar and Atomic Billiards. Bedrock is a big space with lots of pool tables, a couple shuffleboard tables, and our fave, darts for $2. The real star of the space is happy hour 7 days a week, which includes $4 Hellbender kolsch drafts and rails everyday till 8. Nice. Even outside happy hour, they have a slew of beers available at prices below what you'll pay at other bars nearby, such as $6 for Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald. Extra nice. They are a less hectic spot than many of their neighbors in the heart of Adams Morgan, but they have been here since 1992, so you know they're doing something right. read more

OK, so this is my number one, hands down favorite pool hall in the area. Period. The basic sign outside gives you a vibe of things to come. Go down the stairs and you feel like you are in someone's basement. No foo foo gold and expensive felt tables. Just the bare bones. There's only six tables but that just suits the regulars here fine. There's a big wooden bar in the shape of a half circle that wraps around the center of Bedrock. There's also two dart boards on the left side if you're looking to do something other than play pool. Or perhaps Jenga? Yeah, there are a ton of board games here, too. Sit on the leopard skin chair and stay awhile. Bedrock also has one of those newer jukeboxes which will give you a couple of songs for a dollar. The beer selection is awesome---they even had Duff beer in a bottle one time I was here (D'oh). Bedrock also has good seasonal beers. The wine list is impressive for a pool hall and all of the hard liquor is top shelf. As far as pool, during "prime time" they charge ten bucks an hour, but will prorate it if you only play for a portion of it. It is underground so no windows and not for the claustrophobic, but is a nice wide room with lots of space to play. We came here to meet up with our cousin, and some friends of her's. The place was not hard to find at all. It's downstairs from the street. The drinks were good- I had one redbull/vodka, which I think they made a double?, it was pretty strong. My hubby had a couple beers. Bartenders were super friendly. We played a couple games of shuffle board- my first time playing, it was pretty cool. It was a little squished (the spaces around the shuffle board tables). They have a pool league on certain days (they have lockers for those that are really good at pool!). It was not super crowded (for a Friday night). Great place to chill! read more

I'm really sorry to do this but after this night I have no choice. At 1:35 am in the middle of a shuffle board game a random dude comes up to us (2 guys and a visiting innocent french girl) and orders that we have to go. This while there are 20 others at the bar and some are still being served. He starts being rude and aggressive and says he owns the bar ( Peter it's not you but one of your off duty bartenders). I say you can say it nicely, but guess with someone who's drunk better not to talk. In any case thought it best to walk away and settle my bill. Turns out they lost my card also. After looking for it am told that they will give me a discount (am supposed to be thankful)!. The earlier rude guy comes in and tries to be nice. Ok I know cards get lost no big deal ( btw the rule of the trade is all on the house if they lose it), anyways I paid the double of my bill (want no favours from the establishment) and walked off.... I once played 12 straight hours of pool here. It's possible, you know. They open on the weekends at 1 pm, and close at 2. I'm not sure how I Iost that 13th hour. I can't do anything for 12 hours straight any more. Anyway, that should say something about how much I like Bedrock. Home away from home for many years. I regularly ran a tab. I have a lifetime membership (do they still sell memberships?). So why don't I go anymore? I'm old. I do still pop in occasionally and play a few games. My eyesights not as good as it used to be, which can put an amazing damper on your 9-ball game. Pick up dinner at Astor and eat it down here, before it gets too busy. Oh, and I never used to come here on Friday or Saturday nights, and I wouldn't do it now. Nothing like having people get angry at you because you're trying to play pool in a pool hall. That's when a cue butt to the stomach seems appropriate. When it's not filled with drunken pool dilettantes, Bedrock serves as a serious pool hall. There are four 9-foot tables, and the rest are 8-foot. There's a 9 ball league. There are a few people playing games for money. Sometimes they have tournaments. I'm just saying, if you're a serious pool player, it has stuff to offer. If you'd like to *become* a serious pool player, ask for Ben -- he gives lessons. Enough. Cool vibe, excellent bartender who went out of his way to make me some yummy bloody marys. (Apparently, it's a good thing to know Stef - she gets ya hooked up.) Bedrock without Trivia: 4.5 stars Bedrock with Trivia: 3 stars This is a great place to come and hang out on any day of the week. I really felt comfortable here and it was my first time visiting. It brings me back to the days where we'd go over to a friend's house and just chill in the basement, watch sports and play video games. The only difference is that this time we can legally drink beer as well. The reasons why Bedrock got four and a half stars instead of a full five was because it got a little hot down there as the circulation seemed nonexistent. They don't serve any food whatsoever. That could make for one rowdy night with beer and no food in the system. The leather couches were so vintage and comfortable that I seriously would probably spend a lot of time there if I could. They even had a Wii you could play on the big screen. Heck yes! You want to play pool? They have it (it just costs a pretty penny). You want to play shuffleboard? They have it. You want to play darts? They have it. The trivia? Oh man. It was killer. It wasn't as bad as Murphy's in Old Town (see my trivia list for that review), but it was close. The guy loved to talk and loved to mess around. That's great for the regulars, but we were dying. The game was only five rounds long with ten questions in each round, but it took as long as a seven round game with ten questions in each round. Trivia was very disorganized and it just lacked that "fun times" vibe. Even though we came in third (to the dismay of the regulars), we probably won't return here for the "Best Of" circuit. I can definitely see why Steve G. loves this bar. It has great character and I love the atmosphere. read more

Where to start, where to start... how about two shuffleboard tables, a slew of pool tables and dart boards, and a Nintendo Wii to round out the entertainment package. Add to this a great selection of beers. Yes, there's no food, but it doesn't matter in the slightest, as you're allowed to bring in outside food (try Astor's). Not to mention that the Diner is open 24 hours and is just around the corner on 18th. Yes, it does seem to get a bit hot in there. The simple solution is to head on over to the jukebox by the door. You'll get a cool breeze coming down from outside while you pick some songs. And let me say that jukebox has become my favorite jukebox in the entire city, cementing this review into 5 star territory. The Clash, Psychedelic Furs, Suicidal Tendencies, Johnny Cash, They Might Be Giants - the list of amazing music goes on and on. They even have Jets to Brazil on the box! Unheard of! Of course, with such a sweet selection of songs, you run the risk of hearing "How Soon is Now" about 10 times a night, but it's a small price to pay for the entire Orange Rhyming Dictionary. And here is where I've lost everyone, so this review is now done. read more

Classic dive bar (with pool). I know if I thought a little bit harder, I could have played the dive/pool pun up a little bit more. Alas, please forgive me. First thing's first. You have two types of friends: Those that believe Bedrock Billiards is a little slice of alcohol-infused heaven, and those that cannot understand why you keep wanting to drag them "to that dingy basement." These friends will never see eye-to-eye, so don't try to mediate. Whatever will be, will be. That said, if you're looking for your own craphole to call home, Bedrock Billiards is one of the best in Adams Morgan. The beer selection is above average, the 'tenders are usually in a good mood, and there are plenty of table games to go around. As has been said a few times before, pool and shuffleboard is more expensive than it should be, but it's nice to have a little area to call your own. I just wish I could find a great lounge-like atmosphere with gorgeous people (ahem, ie: dress code and cover charge) and pool halls. Hmm. The bartenders were nice, but a little bratty. I understand that you laid down a few grand for your gorgeous mahogany pool tables, mang, there's no reason you have to run over every thirty seconds to tell me not to lean against it, not to sit on it, not to set my drink in a ten foot radius. Thought I was going to spontaneously combust, Spinal Tap drummer style. 2. Trivia took forever because the MC loved to hear himself talk. Irritating as hell. 3. If you rent a pool table for an hour, they charge $12 for two people to play, $18 for three people, and $22 for four people. It makes no sense. The cost of the use of the table for an hour should be independent of how many people will be playing. 4. Unusually high number of annoying people in the trivia crowd. Conclusion: Meh. read more

I want to like this place. I really do. It's close to my house, I like the atmosphere, their beer selection, everything; however, I am yet to have a pleasant interaction with a member of their staff. I called a few nights ago to ask how their pool table situation works, all to be hung up on. My friend and I went anyway because we wanted to shoot some pool and check it out. Bartender acted extremely inconvenienced by taking our beer orders. Asked him personally how the pool system worked "Well, considering you two aren't members of the league you won't be playing tonight." OK!!!!!! I GET IT!!!! It's not that hard to be friendly to people. Was thinking of encouraging friends to come here for a happy hour or something after work one day, but no way in hell that's happening. Going underground to gain entrance gives you even more of a feeling that you're escaping and leaving the world behind for a bit, perhaps what it might have been like to step into a speakeasy. Decked out in the most epic 60s and 70s mod furniture, this basement dwelling pool hall is stacked to the gills with rad furniture, comfy couches, and local pool sharks. Whether you're in for the beer, the babes (none) or the chill vibe, Bedrock Billiards is a "must visit" in AdMo. With every week bringing a new "it" bar to this strip of increasingly boring and bland offerings like "Heaven and Hell" "Tom Toms" and "Frat Bar Frenzy", Bedrock is a welcome addition to the AdMo crowd. For an alternative to getting beer spilled on me, shuffling side-to-side to top 20 garbage and shouting to be heard, I like an occasional break from the insanity. Bottom line, stop by for a beer, a game of pool, and/or to chill on the ample couches. Avoid if seeking short skirts, frat guys, and dance music. read more

Here's what I'd heard about this place: "Lots of beers on tap, lots of board games, and happy hour lasts till 8!" True? Well... kinda. But the beers on tap include things like PBR. Now don't get me wrong, I ride my bike and wear thick-framed glasses and generally enjoy the hipster lifestyle, including an occasional PBR. But when I hear "lots of beers on tap"... that's not really what I'm looking for. A few board games. It costs $2 to rent them. And there really aren't a lot of tables at which to play them. At least... tables far enough from the pool tables so you're not afraid of getting stabbed in the stomach by an errant pool cue. Talk about danger. It's in a basement, so it's one of those casino-type bars where you have no idea if it's light or dark or whether time is passing... and the bartender was pretty rude to me and one of my friends when we were trying to do something so apparently annoying as... purchasing a beer.
