Speaking about the Brunch menu the food can be a hit or miss. I will say the place is more of the spot for drinks. I do think the cocktails here stand out and for brunch you can get a 2 for 1 off their selected cocktail menu (applied per person). If you're coming solely for the food I would pass. Food is average. Came for dinner on a Friday night (definitely recommend making a reservation in advance). Our server was friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself has alot of space and tables and can get very loud. As a group of 6, we ordered the crispy rice (2 orders as 4 pieces come in 1 order), the buffalo chicken bites, the sweet and spicy flatbread and the filet mignon skewers. The crispy rice was good but you could barely taste the spicy tuna. We enjoyed the buffalo chicken bites and filet mignon skewers. The flatbread had the texture of a cracker, I was hoping for something similar to a pizza crust or bread so that was not my favorite but it tasted okay. For entrees I tried the pecan apple salad with steak which was surprisingly good and I would definitely recommend and the fried chicken sandwich. The sandwich was lacking in flavor overall and I didn't feel there was all that much chicken on it. The salad was much better than the sandwich. We left feeling full. The prices are pretty reasonable for the area and the portions are what you would expect. My only complaint was that I found the food overall to be very salty. read more

Our first visit to Dear Maude for Sunday brunch. Made reservations for 10am when restaurant opened. It was cold and we parked quite a few blocks away! So we were happy when we arrived at 9:50am- the doors were opened and we were welcomed in! We were seated in a booth- party of four. The music was playing a bit loud, making it hard to hold a conversation. About 20 minutes later, the music volume was lowered and we could talk comfortably. Great music selection! I've been here many times for an early bao bun dinner and it has always been fantastic. Unfortunately today was a completely different experience and honestly unacceptable. The bar had maybe four couples sitting around it, including us. The bartender took our order and then simply disappeared. He never came back to check on our drinks, refill water, ask about the food, or even give us our bill. Meanwhile the bartenders walked around the bar once or twice without even looking up at customers. Aesthetic wise this restaurant takes the cake. It's absolutely beautiful inside and the way it was decorated for the holidays had me in awe. It's definitely a trendy place and I can see why you would want to go here. However, I'm not fully sold. The service at the bar is okay, nothing to brag about especially since the last time I dined, there weren't many patrons at the bar. I will say the bar holds about 34 seats and on a night like NYE it must have been extremely stressful, but an empty day the service shouldn't really lack. The drinks were okay, nothing to brag about. I had the Margarita Picante, which is their take on an spicy marg. It was pretty probably my favorite. I also had their version of an espresso martini and I wasn't really a fan. I also had the hot apple pie, which wasn't really that great it was super sweet which I expected but it also just tasted like warm apple juice. My partner had the apple old fashioned and he wasn't impressed either. We ordered the bao buns (one chicken and one shrimp) off their happy menu (Mon- Fri till 7 - which is nice if you work late like me) and they were $3 a bun. They were flavorful and filled with meat. My only complaint is the bao bun itself not the filling- I didn't love the texture or flavor of the bao bun, but considering that this is not their specialty they were pretty good. You can choose between smoked salmon or bacon, home fries or french fries for this dish. It was okay-nothing amazing. It could have used a bit more hollandaise sauce. We were seated instantly but waited a while before anyone stopped by to give us water or take our order. Ugh to say we were disappointed is an understatement after hearing so many good things. Maybe it is our fault for coming for dinner instead of just coming expecting to get a couple cocktails. The place itself has a great vibe and is a fun place to be in and can see why it is so popular. The cocktails were also really good, we had the lychee me up and the spicy margarita but that is where the positives end. We started with the shishito peppers and chicken bao buns. The shishito peppers were fine but nothing special and the bao buns only had a small amount of chicken in it. For the price of these, I would expect more. We also got the steak frites and the sweet salty spicy flatbread. The steak in the steak frites was ice cold. It was strange that the steak was the food that was cold over anything else as I would expect this to be the longest to take to cook. The flat bread was good but nothing special like the appetizers. Like I said in the beginning, maybe it's our fault for coming for dinner instead of just cocktails as it felt like they were just serving bar food at an inflated price. I heard on certain nights it gets PACKED! The drink options are quite tasty. Handcrafted cocktails that give your taste buds some fun. The food on the other hand... complete opposite. Tried some items and they underwhelmed. Buffalo chicken tasted generic. I could have gotten this at a fast food joint. Also had the nachos (no pic)... don't do it. 5/5 for vibes for sure. Such a good spot to get drinks before wherever the night takes you. My fiance and I are not nearly as adventurous these days and we're much more about the food. The food I'd say is a 3/5 considering the price, quantity and taste. The items on the menu sounded really good and were creative, but the taste didn't rise to that level. The Fried Chicken Sandwich was our favorite, the chicken was fried perfectly. The others, Buffalo Chicken Bites, Sweet Salty Spicy Flatbread and Crispy Rice & Spicy Tuna were good but not amazing. I also had a Iryna's Lavender cocktail, which was delicious. I really like that the ice cube isn't just water but the actual drink so it doesn't water down the drink.
