I made a reservation for a Monday evening around 8pm. Even at this time, reservations were scarce. It's not a very large restaurant so I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. I ordered the Sourdough Bread & Butter, and the Squid & Scallion Skewers to start. The bread was crispy and tasty; a solid sourdough, but wasn't anything overly unique. The skewers were herbaceous and light. The green sauce was super flavorful - especially when dipped into by that sourdough. For my main I ordered the Fish & Chips (of course). Were they extremely good? YES. Were they the best Fish & Chips I've ever eaten? No, however this accolade belongs to an actual Chippy I ate at in the UK. As far as 'restaurant' Fish & Chips go however - these are the probably the best I've eaten. The fish was expertly fried and super crispy. The chips were thick cut and well-salted. My only complaint is there wasn't more of them. An extra handful of chips and you wouldn't see the bottom of the plate in photos - just sayin! For dessert I got the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Now this WAS the best Sticky Toffee Pudding I've ever had. Extremely flavorful. Extremely sweet. Would be perfect for two to share. As a solo diner, it was pushing my sweet tooth to eat the entire thing. But naturally, I did. The service was great. Super personable and attentive. I was seated at the counter overlooking the kitchen. Watching the chefs prepare every dish was fascinating and entertaining to watch. Definitely recommend this place!

The rice had a bit of bite to it which I actually kinda liked. My friends thought it felt undercooked. It's basically just like rice soaked in a light curry 7. Sticky toffee / date pudding: I was excited for this since I've heard all about how Dame makes a banging one but this kinda fell short for me. The vanilla bean (sour) cream didn't really do it. For mains, the pork chop with smoked onion jus was perfect for an onion-lover like me. The pork chop was surprisingly tender and juicy. The onion sauce was addicting. The tilefish with clams and swiss chard was less impressive, but I still liked the combination of seafood, veggies, and the garlic sauce. I'm not a huge cake person but my partner enjoyed their famous (and large) chocolate cake. As a wine bar, they offered a wide selection of options. At least it's genuinely large - easily shareable between two or three people (meaning I took home two extra servings). This came to a whopping $77 after tax and tip, and I didn't even get wine. The bar looks like an upscale French bistro inside, dark subway tile, brass lighting fixtures, banquettes and medium/dark toned wood tables and splashes of red in the wall color. The staff was professional and cordial, providing menus, asking what type of water we prefer, taking orders and checking back in a timely manner as to how we were doing. Food and drink were on par with general Manhattan prices these days which is to say on the pricier side, $15-45 for appetizers, $27-60 for entrees, $20-22 for drinks. I didn't get many pics tho we ordered: - deviled eggs: on the house, they brought these over first. Yummy. - pigs in a blanket $15x2: comes with 4 pieces a plate. They were really good, flaky and crisp on the outside, juicy on the inside. Though for number of pieces it felt like a lot to be paying north of $4 per bite-sized morsel after accounting for tax and tip. - butter lettuce and asparagus salad $19: the avocado on top was presented beautifully though we had a hard time finding the asparagus. Tasty dressing and fresh leaves. - chicory salad $21: a heartier salad with watermelon radishes, cranberries and blue cheese; I'm not a blue cheese lover though the flavors had good balance. - fries $13 x2: this were so-so, we demolished these though again $13 felt high for essentially a side of fries with ketchup and mayo. - grilled asparagus with shallot vinegarette $17: there was about 10 spears of asparagus and some of the bottoms were tough and fibrous. The flavor wasn't very good. - drinks: my coworkers got a couple drinks each and enjoyed. I got a hibiscus ginger Arnold Palmer $12 that was pretty good. A couple things that could be improved, on a warm day the temp inside the restaurant was pretty warm, bearable on an evening close to 80 degrees outside though hoped it'd be cooler inside. Secondly the tables were sticky. As nice as the restaurant decor was, it doesn't say good things when the tables are sticky.
