I know that places like this exist in Williamsburg but I had no intel until today. I found four bottles of hard to find Bourbon and I spotted several hard to find Rye's. There were numerous bottles of rare Calvados, and Tequila too. They have Pappy in stock, but it is very marked up. This shop is located in between several train lines, and parking is complicated. Shady . Never received my package. They claimed since i didn't insure package this will take some time as they would give me another bottle but it would take several weeks. When I challenged them on why this wasn't sent with signature required which in California me pretty much anywhere in the United States is required by State and Federal guidelines they refunded my money and did case closed. They also did something highly illegal besides not following Federal and state guidelines as well As lied to UPS of what was inside the package the used my name as the shipper from there address. That is so illegal, mail fraud and I could of got in serious trouble if that package would of been intercepted. So after 3 months and no response from Eli on a shipping label to return the bottle of Winter Storm he sent with the cork seal removed, for some reason Mastercard sided with him. Could it have been because he said it was probably me looking for a free bottle? Or that he sent me a return label and I never responded? Liars get there Karma in the end Eli! I ordered 5 bottles online and I was impressed with all aspects of the process. Each bottle was individually bubble wrapped, then put into a thickly padded cardboard box, with dividers separating each bottle. Furthermore, there as plenty of Styrofoam "popcorn" surrounding each bottle, ensuring that the bottles arrived to me in perfect condition. I was in the mood for a Sancerre and she picked out a Tempranillo. The Sancerre was pretty good. Dry and crisp. The only complaint? The cork was all messed up, I think it had rotted out. Not more than 12 hours later, did I receive an email that said my order was "canceled at my request" which was a bold faced lie. I am impressed with their selection, which is updated quickly and is broad, but even more so with their customer service, efficient delivery, and superb communication. I would highly recommend them as your shop of choice or at least to be added to your regular shopping circle. As an added perk, while many shops (including this one) have allocated whiskies marked up, I appreciate that they have not priced out the market and keep markups reasonable. Small enough not to be maaaad overwhelming, but still a good selection of varietals. Not a very deep catalog but lots of different choices in a reasonable price range, starting at 10-12 bucks. I've gone in a couple times and the service was OK except yesterday the guy working (it's always the redheads LOL) didn't offer any help when I was scoping out the selection (It's a small space and no one else was there...) and when my friend from Spain asked if he could give me a bag he snapped at her that he had already offered and he knows how to do his job etc. Really snarky and rude and not necessary. Not someone I want to be near again on if it's avoidable. I can't pinpoint any specific way the wines are organized which is irritating, by region or varietal would be useful!
