What a find! Made an online purchase of various brands and types of sake. They were able to get me exactly what I ordered and it was delivered to me only a few days after I had placed the order. All bottles were very well packed with recyclable "peanuts". I am duly impressed.

If you are searching for hard to find Bourbon and Whiskey, De Wine Spot is the place to find them. A friend had asked me to locate an allocated bottle from Indiana and I tracked it down using Wine-Searcher.com. I trekked out to East Williamsburg and found the holy grail. I know that places like this exist in Williamsburg but I had no intel until today. I found four bottles of hard to find Bourbon and I spotted several hard to find Rye's. There were numerous bottles of rare Calvados, and Tequila too. They have Pappy in stock, but it is very marked up. This shop is located in between several train lines, and parking is complicated. I'm glad that I don't live nearby because I might deplete my savings very quickly.

Shady . Never received my package. They claimed since i didn't insure package this will take some time as they would give me another bottle but it would take several weeks. When I challenged them on why this wasn't sent with signature required which in California me pretty much anywhere in the United States is required by State and Federal guidelines they refunded my money and did case closed. They also did something highly illegal besides not following Federal and state guidelines as well As lied to UPS of what was inside the package the used my name as the shipper from there address. That is so illegal, mail fraud and I could of got in serious trouble if that package would of been intercepted. Would never do business with thee people again and they cannot deny what they did s I have. Screen shot of them using my name as the shipper that's so wrong on so many levels... To respond to your post you used my name As the shipper it's clear as day and in the picture, you didn't adhere to federal amd Stated guidelines! Lied to UPS about what you were shipping and abusive I don't think so I just called you on your BS and will be reporting you to the proper authorities. I have the proof that's all I need and You cannot deny you used my name, didn't report what you were shipping etc etc etc... Check mate sir!!! Btw I didn't ask for a refund I wanted my bottle of booze. Now I'm screwed as I cannot find this anywhere else. To say packages is I believe an overstatement as I think I've only purchased one item from you in the past and I cannot even remember what that was as my experience with you was obviously not memorable previously so therefore I tend to not remember and or forget trash/garbage when I throw it out of my mind. The fact is I'm the picture below you used my name as the shipper which is illegal and you didn't send the package with signature required as it states in picture and make UPS aware that there was alcohol in the box. All which are illegal. You got busted by a paying customer and like I said I'm going to report you Ms when they investigate you they will find out from your shipping documents how many people you've done this too as well as how many bottles of Liquor you have shipped across state lines without identifying that it is liquor. BUSTED!!!!!!!!!! Lol Your very dismissive with people as I can see from Your other responses on Yelp to customers like you think your stuff don't stink and that your right when indeed you are 100% in the wrong for fraudulently using my name as the sender of a product that was illegally shipped from one state to another. No getting around the fact that that's what you did sir!!!

Watch out for the old bait and switch. - The site listed two sizes of the hard-to-find Johnnie Walker Gold Label; a one liter size and a 750ml size. The one liter was listed at the reasonable price of $165; the smaller 750ml was listed at the unreasonably high price of $160. I ordered the one liter bottle, but received the 750ml instead. When I objected, the vendor said they were out of the one liter and had assumed I would want the 750ml, so they had sent me that instead - and so they offered me a $5 refund. I pointed out that they could (and should!) have contacted me prior to shipping, rather than just send me an item I had not ordered. I certainly would NOT have ordered the smaller bottle at basically the same price! One wonders if they might knowingly bait people into ordering the reasonably priced item, only to ship the unreasonably priced item instead? Either way, I cannot recommend this vendor. At best, their communication with the customer leaves much to be desired; at worst, they're scamming their customers. read more

Great place if you love hard to find Spirits and you love variety. I live far enough away to order online but I work close enough that I can't wait for delivery. The selections are well worth the hassle carrying everything on public transportation. I wanted a rye other than WhistlePig and Pikesville Straight Rye was recommended and it was fantastic! I'm looking forward to my next visit and the next recommendation. read more

Buyer beware, It was Truly NOT AMAZING online experience, order few bottles of $4300 whisky, total over $13000 USD, later on, was told price increase to $5000 and only accepting payment of paypal without fees, what a great company practice, they rise the price and cancelling the order, anyhow, glad i've other whisky merchant to fulfill my order for around $4000 per bottle. read more

Overall business is fine, but buyer beware if your bottle leaks but does not break or have "significant leakage." I ordered 4 bottles online. 3/4 arrived no problem, one leaked in transit (~0.5-1 oz loss). Since these were gifts, the leaked bottle is useless. I was offered $2-$3 refund to cover the lost whiskey, but since these were gifts I needed a replacement bottle. I asked for free shipping if I just bought a replacement bottle, but was told that the $18 in shipping would mean that they have to take a loss on the sale. The counter offer was for me to cover shipping both ways and return the leaked bottle (so, $36 more I'd have to pay, along with the hassle of sending the leaker back) in order to get a replacement. My stance is that a leak is a leak, regardless of amount. If this had been a Van Winkle, BTAC, etc. bottle and it leaked in transit, I can't imagine that it would not be acceptable to any buyer/collector. Either way, no resolution was found and I was wished luck taking my business elsewhere. read more

I've been into rosé this summer and this wine store has a great selection of delicious chilled wine for a reasonable price. They also have tons of reds, whites, and hard liquor too. The customer service is great, not pushy at all, but if you need help picking a bottle someone is always there with words of wisdom. read more

Aesthetically pleasing setup, reasonable prices and the owner's super friendly. Even if they don't have a specific bottle (shop's small), the owner's knowledgeable about comparable selections in his collection; he was very helpful and I found some new liquid loves! Ultimately, if you're in the area looking for wine, I'm not sure why you'd go anywhere else (for one, I'm pretty sure it's the only one of its kind, which is fine with me!). read more

Let me start by saying I have purchased here in the past and the bottles that aren't harder to find are usually priced ok. The first and last order I placed here was for Bombergers and Shenks when they came out. Price was good and when i tried to order again the price had already been raised. Now it's a stores right to charge what they want for bottles but it's also my right to call them out for it. As an example Old Forester Birthday bourbon retails for $80 and if you check their site it's being sold for $395. Now the issue i have is a couple fold, first that's gouging plain and simple and the person who buys it has no idea what their doing as that price is double what you can find it for in the secondary market. Second that means they're intentionally looking for peopleto take advantage of no matter how long it takes for the bottles to be sold. This site has become somewhat of a punchline with the blogs and bourbon groups out there because they set rediculous prices on anything that might be limited releaae. So the real question is this...are you really making more money on the limited number of bottles you get under limited release with all the people that already have and will continue to blacklist your store because of this behavior? read more

The wine selection is perfect. It's so easy to shop there and the there's always something good for any price range I'm in. When I'm broke there's a good cheap bottle and when I'm treating myself there's always a something amazing for a good price. The staff is like the wine selection. Eclectic and something for everyone. The owner knows his stuff and so does the staff. Everyone is approachable and no question is too complicated or too simple. I've worked at wine and spirits stores before so that Alex person who is moaning about god knows what doesn't know bourbon from scotch or white to rose. He should stick to liquor stores with bullet proof windows. In the meantime, this is a wine shop that reflects how great the neighborhood is and caters to the eclectic locals. Bam! read more

Lately I have been obsessed with Sake and De Wine Spot has a great selection. I knew there was one brand I loved that was super expensive that I first found online at a store in CA but De Wine also had it for $10 less, so I ordered 2. Took less than a week to get the sake. Also the way they set up their site for sake you can see what kind of sake it is or rather how it is made. My favorite sake - so far - is a Honjozo style one. The site is set up so I can search for sake made the same way to find options, so for my second order I got some of those. While I felt the time from ordering to notification of shipping was longer for my second order, I am not dissatisfied with either of my orders. I think the difference, for me, in ordering online via De Wine as opposed to going to my local wine and spirits store is that it is easier to research and learn about sake (which I need to do!) than in the store where I cannot read the labels and there is no effort to educate the customer. So when I want special, I think I will continue to shop here. I gave 4 stars only because shipping is very expensive and adds at least $16 to my total cost and I live in NYC, just not in Brooklyn. With Covid, shipping is my only option. If I lived in the neighborhood, I would be a regular shopper. read more

I had Stockholm syndrome before I decided to break up with this place. I've been coming for about 5 years at the rate of once a week--so, a regular customer. No one was ever particularly friendly or helpful, and their bottles in the $12-16 range, which is where I think a lot of people like to have options, were always just...OK. About 3 months ago my partner bought a bottle on sale for about $8 and it tasted corked so we brought it back. Instead of giving him his money back, they said he could have 20% off the next order. I was shocked. I've bought probably 300 bottles of wine here. Even though this place is less than a block from my house, I now walk the four blocks to Bibber & Bell, where the staff always greets you when you walk in, they always have a nice bottle in the lower price range, and I was offered a taste the 2nd time I walked in, which is more than I can say for a place I've been going for years. read more

I purchased 2 bottles of Japanese whiskey - they showed that they had them in stock. The purchase was made with a rush delivery. On the day they should have arrived, I received an email at 12:26 am saying they had 1 bottle and had to order the other one and they will ship both in a week. At 6 am I told them that I wanted at least the 1 bottle shipped immediately. They responded "sorry too late I sold the last bottle" AFTER I already purchased it. I went to look for the type of whisky again online, because I needed 2 bottles. They still showed up online as having 1 bottle. So I am not sure why they show it in stock. I am not sure why they sold my bottle after I already bought it. Unless of course they never had it. They refused to acknowledge that they did something wrong. Now they keep sending emails to rate their service, and they wont let me post - I am blocked. I guess that is what I get for calling them out on what they are doing. Never again will I use their service. read more

My experience with De Wine Spot has only been online. Solid wine/spirits selection and amazing customer service. I randomly emailed about my order at 1am and received an answer within minutes, which was unnecessary but certainly appreciated. I was concerned about getting my order by a certain date and they fast-tracked the delivery to make sure I received it in time. Any bulk orders I make in the future will be through them. read more

Excellent variety of spirits. In my case I made the purchase online from Florida. Mischa's customer service was excellent. Shipment on time and perfect. They put great care in packing my order. I have to agree with the other reviewer about the obvious competitor's one star review. De Wine spot is like an oasis. it'a beautiful in there, spotless and everything is well displayed. They cater to the immediate community, and locals stop in all the time. The staff is very friendly, and seem to have a relationship with many customers which keeps them coming back. The selection is great, there are alot of cheap options and they have a lot of whiskeys and liquors. I've actually never seen the hugestt bottle of bulleit and they have it. read more

This is the only shop in BK I know of that sells shochu, and the selection is slowly growing. That alone gives it 5 stars in my book, but I'm also always happy with the wines I get here. The whiskey selection is large as well. If you like sake, you'll be happy with the choices (most available cold), including the single-serve glasses. I have a cabinet full of them at home. The staff is fantastic. read more

Zero stars for this place. Last year the service was excellent but the service today was extremely poor. Manager was rude, and even though the order was already paid for, would not get up off his chair to get the order ready. What happened between last year and this year? Will never go there again! This is one of those spots in the neighborhood that I have been dying for but never thought it would come. A great little wine spot we can call our own with zero pretension and reasonably priced bottles. The Store is a bit green for my taste but the service is friendly and knowledgeable without being overbearing. I would recommend to any and all. It also helps this is the only decent place to get a good bottle of vino in the nabe. read more

This review is for the online store. I have placed two orders to date, and am very happy with the service and communication I received. Ilya was very polite and knowledgeable, as well as incredibly patient as we worked through an issue with a payment processor on one order. They were also flexible with substitutions, as one bottle I ordered was not available by the time we got payment hashed. I will order here again, as the combination of service, selection, and pricing are not often seen. As is often the case with rare spirit vendors, the inventory listed on their website may not be real time in hand quantities. I was given immediate feedback as to what could ship right away, and what items would need a few days. If you understand how distributors and allocations work, there will be no surprises here. Most other rare spirit vendors won't even post inventory to the general public! I would always encourage you to compare pricing before purchasing, but I found pricing to be very close to my local store front pricing on most regular bottles, and rare bottles are about mid-range of what you can find on wine-searcher. They have access to a surprisingly large back catalog of rare spirits, and I have found pricing there to be extremely competitive to the market. read more

High ratings for this place are well deserved. I live in the neighborhood and frequently patron this place. Selection of wine is very dynamic, always changing and never stale. Owner and the staff knows their wine very well and are always helpful with their recommendations. In addition, this place has one of the best whisky and bourbon collections around. From what I understand, it is carefully curated by the staff and contains items like Pappy Van Winkle's bourbon. The only negative comment I read about this place smells like it was left by a rival shop. It reeks of libel and is, frankly. offensive. Why would I care about margins or what a self-proclaimed "wine guru" THINKS I should like? I like what I like and most times than not De Wine delivers it at a price point that sounds good to me. Speaking about delivering - they now have a website where you can order and have your hooch delivered to your door! All in all, there is only one way to find out if De Wine Spot is a place for you - stop by and see for yourself. I am happy I did. read more

De Wine Spot has the best customer service I have ever experienced! I needed to get a rare whiskey urgently for a birthday gift and I couldn't find the whiskey anywhere in the NYC area. I emailed De Wine Spot and they got back to me very quickly, and let me know they carried the whiskey, but it was out of stock and to check back in 2 weeks. I responded asking if they had any suggestions where else I might be able to buy it and explained I needed it in 2 days for a gift and they said it's unlikely I would find it at another store because it's very rare, but they would try and pull some strings. They successfully pulled strings and somehow managed to get this for me in the quick turn around and I cannot thank them enough! They are seriously the best ever and I am now a loyal customer. I found De Wine Spot after scouring the internet for a place that would ship bourbon to South Carolina. I placed my first order a few weeks ago and was very happy with everything. I signed up for their newsletter and made sure to check the "Allocated Bourbon and Whiskey" box. I received an email just before Thanksgiving that a bourbon I've been looking for was back in stock. I jumped on the opportunity and it was shipped a few days later. It was delivered today, and I was impressed with how well it was wrapped. I think FedEx could have thrown it from a moving truck and it would have made it unscathed. I will definitely be buying more from De Wine Spot! read more
