This place rocks and it's not just because it's around the corner from my home but because the staff is friendly and attentive whenever I go in there. The store is always clean and for the most part busy; which is a good sign. Almost their entire stock consists of dry wines which I am not a fan. The few semi-sweet wines that I have tried is because the guys in there take time to guide me. They have a loyalty club which I joined way too late in the game but whatever. I am making up for it by taking advantage of the Cinch app which lets me buy wine at a ridiculously low price because of the awesome discount. If you shop at Bottle Shoppe do yourself a favor and download the app asap. Unless you don't like save money cause if that is so, then ball out. read more

This place is great until you get a bad bottle of wine! I realize it can happen, and by no means is it their fault, but it is totally uncool that they require you to bring the bottle of wine in. If I go to a bar and send a drink back because it doesn't taste right, the bartender doesn't drink it in front of me to see to see if I'm telling the truth. Their story is that their distributor will cover the cost of it if there's proof (i.e. the wine in the bottle). Well, why can't the store just cover it when there's a situation where the terrible wine was sent to wine heaven down my kitchen sink drain? I took a picture of the bottle, and figured that was enough to prove I purchased it, but sadly, no wine, no credit. Under their wack reasoning, I could bring back bottles of wine that I didn't finish in one sitting and that sat on my counter for days and pretend it was "bad" when I opened it. Isn't a violation of open container laws to be driving/walking around with an uncorked bottle of wine? From now on, I'll head to D.O.C. which has a much better selection. Bummed things didn't work out with The Bottle Shoppe. Their cheap wines were never amazing, but they were perfectly adequate and I liked the guys that worked there. read more

The Bottle Shoppe is sweet - a little nook on the Southside of Williamsburg that is your one stop shop for wines of all sorts. Carrying the good, the bad and the just cheap, this is the place to go after getting your cheeses at the Bedford Cheese Shop to finish off your dinner party shopping list. I've never had an apartment close to an awesome wine shop... until now, and I've been stopping in at Bottle Shoppe. It's a small little wine shop for finding some great tasting wine from around the US and world. I'm no wine buff, but recently I've been drinking Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and they have a really great selection here (for my standards.) Most wines are going to be around that $15 price point, but obviously there are some higher and some lower. Not uncommon for the area. They also have a rewards program, which is something like earning $10/$20 vouchers for spending $200. Look, it's not the best program in the world but at least it's something. The gentlemen in the store are nice enough and seem like they know what they're talking about. I usually get the same thing though, so I don't ask a lot of questions. They also have some liquor behind the register if you need that as well. Solid wine shop for whatever your wine needs may be. read more

As a wine shop, it's fine - prices and selection are decent enough. I used to live off the Graham stop, so that location was my regular go-to. Now that I live on the South side, I've been stopping by this Bedford location which has the same prices and selection but I so WISH the man working there wasn't such a chauvinist. He calls all ladies 'honey' and says the most patronizing and predatory shit. Not something I want to deal with when pondering a crisp summer white. I always try to remain as neutral as possible to not elicit any disparaging remarks but it's as if he's compulsive about it. Like the other day, I come to the counter and he asks me how my day was. Thinking he was being nice enough, I responded, 'Good! although it's so hot.' To which he replies, 'it's the summer, honey. don't complain about it being hot.' Damn, ok. I guess I fell into that trap. Not the most heinous story, but just an example of how consistent he is about swoopin' in and putting a woman in her place. Maybe I should tell him off but he seems too cray cray. I know other ladies who avoid the shop because of his 'tude and have seen him being really mean to his wife. The Dinner Party: Part Deaux Nine last-minute calling, free-loading guests trickle into my Williamsburg garden apartment all carrying bottles of wine. I have a VERY well stocked bar, all top shelf, because I am a lush and I'm a great hostess, but we ended up with a dozen bottles of wine on this evening. Apparently, the Bottle Shoppe is between the subway stop and my apartment, so nearly all of the wine came from this store. It was all very good so I made a mental note to check it out. They have a nice selection of wine from Chile, which is my newest fascination. I have to say that the service was umm non-existent though and the store is incredibly small. Waking through the aisles, I was nervous that I was gonna knock a bottle off the shelf with my puffy jacket. I KNOW, I KNOW, big girls should not wear puffy jackets, but it was fuckin' cold out ok? Anyway, Bottle Shoppe did not impress but, I'd be willing to give it another try due to its location. read more

The Bottle Shoppe has a great, though small collection of hidden treasures. Just ask Cesar, the extremely friendly proprietor. He's there most days, and can tell you which of his inexpensive wines go best with any meal. Hit the Bedford Cheese Shop when you're done for two great tastes that taste great together. Cesar hand picks his wines, and has a niche of inexpensive, and good tasting wines. I went in and needed a complex set, and he gave me a history lesson that ranged from Rome, to Chili, to Australia, and all over the US. The Bottle Shoppe ROCKS! It's a tiny gem of a place on the Southside of Williamsburg - lots of fantastic wines and sakes to choose from! The people who run the place are really friendly & cool - they want you to have fun with wine! I've gone in there before with take-out from a local restaurant and they are quick to ask me what I ordered & help me find a great/affordable wine that will compliment my food. I thought that was cool. They also always have great music playing, so it feels like a party in there, unlike other wine shops that tend to be quiet and serious. When I leave the Bottle Shoppe with a few bottles in hand, I'm in the mood to have a blast with friends. I love it! 5 stars! read more

This is my local wine shop and I'm in there more than I'd like to admit. I love that they have a frequent buyer program where you earn points to be used toward a discount of a future purchase. They don't have a huge selection but they're always happy to make recommendations. They also have a small liquor selection near the cash register if wine just isn't enough for you. And I haven't taken advantage of this, but I've been told that they also deliver, which is pretty awesome! read more

The Bottle Shop is much closer to my new apartment than my usual go-to wine stores in Williamsburg, so I was really excited to try it. I usually like to keep my wine rack stocked with some inexpensive but tasty wines in case I have an unexpected guest or just want to enjoy a glass at home. I was really disappointed with The Bottle Shop, however. First of all, their price points are really strange. They don't seem to have too many of the high end, totally expensive bottles that I never buy unless it's a special occasion. But, they also don't seem to have anything for under $15. The only bottle I saw that was under $15 was a Beaujolais Nouveau, which I don't really feel like drinking after December. Second, their service (at least the Friday night that I popped in) was kind of rude. I asked the curly haired gentleman (who looked underage) at the counter if they delivered and he said "occasionally" in a snide tone without bothering to elaborate when exactly "occasionally" is. I ended up going to another store and buying two bottles there. Trojanowski and Uva aren't too much further down Bedford and they both have consistently great service, frequent tastings, and a wider range of price points. Really tiny wine shop. Walked in and nobody acknowledged me. Went to the back where the fridges are since I wanted a white and a rose. Was eventually crowded by a family of four talking nonstop about some boat cruise they were going on. The people at the shop helped them out and still ignored me, and I was tired of hearing about their dumb lives, so I left. Prices aren't great. Go to D.O.C. on Broadway instead for much better selection and better prices. read more

Okay selection and the pricing was fair. However, the reason the shop gets 2 stars is because of the unprofessional behavior of the two men working there when I and a friend went in today. We were using the Cinch app, which the shop was advertising customers use (important for context). 1. The man at the register was pressuring us to use a coupon code that would have saved us less money than the coupon we were attempting to use. 2. Used the coupon code we wanted to use and was only told after the transaction went through on the app that they wouldn't honor it because it was less than $10. That policy was not posted and was not relayed to us beforehand. We lost $7 on this transaction and were told to "take it up with cinch" but were given no form of proof that the store did not give us the bottle of wine. read more

My only main complaint is that they don't have that many selections for under $15, which surprises me considering how obsessed with cheap drinks people seem to be in this neighborhood. But I can't object to convenience. It's open pretty late and they have wine tasting on weekends. They could use some training in customer service. One guy in front of me in line told an employee that another clerk had been really rude to him, and he just shrugged it off without being very sympathetic. They get three stars just because I live nearby and they are super friendly. But I am annoyed that they don't have the prices labeled on the wines, you have to ask. Look, I'm from the "If you have to ask you can't afford it and I'd rather not ask and die of embarrassment" era. Sometimes I just want to compare a few different wines and their price points. So, for instance, I went in tonight...with very little money. No prices on the bottles. I walked up to UVA on Bedford and N. 6th (i think) and I found they have a lovely selection and I am allowed to see the prices. Bottle Shopppe is perfect if you are in the area, like a block away, and especially when it gets cold you don't want to walk far. Or if you live in one of the new luxury buildings and price is no object. ---UPDATE---Oh crap! I misspoke (unless the proprietors read my review). There are prices on most of the bottles. I did look at a few with no prices but most have an inconspiculous label on the back of the bottle. I ended back at the Shoppe because I was on Bedford and N. 6th considering getting a bottle for myself to enjoy a glass and relax for a spell this evening before heading out. But then I reproached myself and thought better of it because I really need to conserve money. Nearly on my way home I changed my mind and was too lazy to walk back to the northside. Not only was I incorrect but I found a nice bottle of red Piemonte Barbera. It's a bit drier than I am accustomed to but I am liking it more and more as the wine opens up. And it was only $16, because as I was told yesterday "Life is too short to drink bad wine". Albeit wine out of a box and camping in the woods are always a terrific combo for me. This is a good old standby wine shop. Nothing fancy, nothing special, always open, not too crowded (although it's really small) and all the basics. When the owner is there, you can get good recommendations and help, but if anyone else is there you are on your own as they are pretty much useless and just read magazines silently behind the counter. read more

This is a fabulous neighborhood wine and liquor shop. The wine selection is modest in size, but very well curated. You'll find picks that cover most palates and aren't over available or commercialized (i.e. Yellowtail, Barefoot, etc). They sell a great variety of liquors too - you'll find what you need. The staff is chill and helpful when asked questions, and they have tastings every Friday till 8pm. Also, if you want to find a treasure mind the wooden boxes on the floor to the right when you walk in. They're full of yummy wines from $8-$12! You can't beat that. read more
