This was the best restaurant my husband and I tried during our recent four days in Amsterdam. The food was both delicious and attractively presented, and our server was knowledgeable. I started with the Burrata with beets, followed by the Risotto with asparagus - both were excellent. My husband had the Tomato lamb consomme, followed by the Braised pork cheek - he was very pleased. We highly recommend this restaurant, and it's close to other great attractions, like the Waterlooplein flea market and the Rembrandt House Museum. My husband and I had dinner here and had a very good experience. We made a reservation and glad we did as even though it is a very big restaurant it was packed. The ambience was very nice. For a starter we shared a burrata salad which was an interesting combination of ingredients but worked very well and was delicious. For mains my husband had the roast duck and I had the bavette. Both were excellent but I would give the duck an edge. And for dessert we shared churros. Everything was great and our bill was very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food served. This is a beautiful place and as others already said the atmosphere is stunning! From the high ceiling modern part that's the bar/café to the glass front and beams old part that's the restaurant now. Absolutely beautifully done...! I came here for a date which was quite romantic and perfect to have a drink and chat because it's quiet. Came back here to work (free wifi) which was also great. The coffee is nice but the poached eggs I had on sourdough bread wasn't very convincing and drowned under a weird sauce béchamel.... The apple tart looked much better. So I'll give it another try and want to have a proper dinner in the restaurant as well... read more

This place was recommended by a friend, and boy was it an excellent choice. First, the obvious--the space is absolutely stunning. One of the more beautiful restaurants I've ever been to, anywhere in the world. The service was excellent, though American waiters would probably have been a tad more attentive. For instance, they did not offer to refill our wine glasses, we had to ask for another glass. That's fine, and perhaps typical here, but different than our usual experience. We had two starters and two main courses. All were outstanding. The highlights were the coquelet pimenton (chicken) and the bavette (beef) with bone marrow and herb butter. The almond cake for dessert was sensational, with ice cream, mascarpone, and raspberry sauce. All this plus two glasses of wine each and two coffees for like 90 Euros. In the states this would have been $150 easily. And price aside, it was a superb meal. Highly recommended. read more

Beautiful ambiance, excellent bistro style dishes. Both ravioli - wild boar and red beet stuffing - were rich in flavour as well as the lamb served with chickpeas and pita. Churros as dessert could be a bit fluffier from the inside, though I liked the chewiness personally. Marble-like tables fancy the place up. Waitresses were clearly not in the mood. Were planning on a lunch with a party of six. After the second time having to ask for a menu, we just gave up. We went there for dinner on a Friday night. Our appetizers were pretty good. Ravioli with a red beet and burrata filling and a salad with roasted veggies and burrata. The entree as well. We shared a lamp leg with rice and again roasted veggies. Very well presented. The dessert was average, unfortunately. The downfall was unfortunately the service. You could tell none of them was schooled. No recognition for empty glasses and plates. The plates for the entree they brought us were way too small. When the waitress finally "cleaned" the table she didn't bother to clean the grease on the table, didn't even see it. So I had to tell her to please wipe the table before set it again for dessert. Every time we needed attention we had to wave like lunatics to get any attention. No, they're not understaffed. They just simply didn't pay attention except bringing out the plates. Very unfortunate for such a great place and actually pretty good food. Maybe I'll give it another try for lunch time since the location is pretty amazing. read more

Came here with a party of 10 people. We were sat promptly. It was full, but did not feel overly crowded. Service was fairly fast. We got a variety of food and drink. Everything was delicious. We dropped by for dinner. It's an absolutely beautiful venue! But frankly I think the food was just alright... I had chicken and rice and we shared a tasting platter which pretty much consisted of pickles bread and a selection of meats. But I could make a better chicken and rice at home. The chicken wasn't tender, tasted dry and the skin wasn't crispy... so it was a bit of a disappointment. It wasn't bad, but it just didn't come up to my restaurant dining expectations. I think it's a great place to hang out with friends and take your time waiting for your food, ''see and be seen'' kind of place. But the food could do better. read more

De Plantage is out of the way, but worth it. The atmosphere in the restaurant is so different- you're in a greenhouse! We tried the asparagus risotto and their chicken and rice dish (personally I'd have the risotto over the chicken) and both were delicious! read more

The place was beautiful, staff was really nice, however, food wasn't worth its price. We had roasted duck and roasted eggplant and sweet potatoes. Both of them were good but not something we would order again. Definitely recommending it for the atmosphere not the cuisine. read more

Me and my friend went to grab dinner here and they were extremely rude. We sat down and waited while they served everybody around us not even stoping in passing, despite the restaurant being relatively empty. It took them 45 minutes to inquire about our drinks whilst people who arrived later were sat down, had their orders taken and received food before we had even been spoken to. The first thing you notice about this restaurant is the ambience. Come here if only for that! As far as the food is concerned, I ate the Goat Cheese Tartine with grilled pears, hazelnuts and honey. The dish came together wonderfully with the sweetness of the honey and pear perfectly complementing the texture of the soft cheese and the savoury bread. Came here for dinner with my co-workers. I was surprised to see the tree in the middle of the building. It is actually where you go to check in with the host/hostess. The tree added a bit of nature to the restaurant. The restaurant features local produce. I had a lovely bean/cheese ravioli for my appetizer. Many of my co-workers tried the beet salad appetizer -which they said was outstanding. I had the chicken while several of my co-workers had the need for dinner. This place was such a lovely surprise. The Decor is beautiful and the staff are great. The food was really good. I had the goats cheese and pear sandwich - to die for. It just hit the spot. All the other dishes around us looked of a great standard also. And also everyone around us looked very happy! Now that a couple of weeks have gone by I want to reaffirm my one-star review. I don't write one-star reviews without giving the staff an opportunity to correct a problem (in my case the stone-cold meal). But, the service was so poor the night I was there (20 minutes to get a drink, 40 minutes counting the time they never brought the drink, 50 minutes to bring my meal that had been sitting out for probably 30 minutes) I felt there was no way that the situation could be rectified. It was a busy night and the acoustics were so poor (bordering painful) I couldn't imagine waiting another 50 minutes for them to bring me another cold entree. Aesthetically it's a wonderful place. Seeing the other reviews the food (other than what I was served) is likely good too. But if loud places are not your thing and you are particular about your food and service, I'd have to recommend that you pass on coming here during a busy time. read more
