    Pad thai with shrimp
    Diane L.

Love this place. Casual, cozy spot for Thai food. Quality has changed somewhat over the years. Still good, but I remember my first time years ago, had their pad thai with shrimp and it was the best shrimp and pad thai noodles I'd ever had. Noodles were chewy and delicious, shrimps were big, juicy and succulent like the perfect shrimps. Their lunch special is a great deal for under $15 for an entree and appetizer. Quantity is smaller than it used to be, but probably same with other places. Service is very nice. Takeout and dine in. There's only a few small tables inside, so it's intimate and nice to sit and have a quiet lunch by yourself.

Coming from someone who doesn't eat Thai too frequently, this restaurant totally blew me away and caused me to come back multiple times. I tried the food both in-person and to-go and both were even portions. I can't say enough about the Pad See Ew! It is extremely delicious and filling. Even uploading the pictures now is making me crave it again. The only downside is the size of the restaurant. There are only two tables so if you plan to eat in I would definitely call ahead to make sure there's space. The service was quick and the waitress was friendly. I hope to see the space expand as business grows!

I ordered the shrimp pad kee mao and it was really good and spicy. The shrimp were well cooked and juicy. They gave a good amount of shrimp too. The service was friendly and I received my take out on time and it was still hot when I got it. I am definitely ordering again!

Coronavirus Diary Day 271 - 12/10/2020 I'm not sure how long I can survive this pandemic. Vaccines are out there, but we can't get it cuz of the FDA. Anywho... Everyone seems to know this Ddee Thai, but how come I haven't heard about it? Today, I got a good deal from Allset, so I gave Ddee Thai a try by ordering three items to be delivered, and those were Shrimp Tom Yum, Spicy Wings and Crab Fried Rice. Whoa, Shrimp Tom Yum was delicious! The spiciness was perfect with a pretty good amount of jumbo shrimp (3) and straw mushrooms. I haven't had Tom Yum with straw mushroom before, so this was a good change. Spicy Wings were definitely spicy because of the sauce. Crab Fried Rice was plentiful, packed with lumps and lumps of crab. It'd be even more tasty if they provided Prik Nam Pla. I would also add that Khao Nah Ped (Roast duck with steamed Chinese broccoli over rice) was really good! 4.5 stars! I can't wait to dine in at this place. Again, it's up to His Highness Cuomo.

Similar to a nearby thai place (Hero), this place was incredible. We ordered multiple appetizers, entrees and drinks - seated outside on the corner to watch a bit of "nightlife" (can I even say that amidst COVID-19?) They have all the staple dishes like fried tofu, pad thai, papaya salad and the likes... but it's the presentation that makes this stand out. For a simple fried tofu appetizer, the pieces were stacked like a jenga puzzle. The pastry puffs were neatly seated next to one another, and the papaya salad was luscious.... Yes, I said "luscious" for a papaya salad. Prices were modest and the restaurant was big enough to be seated, served and finished in a very timely fashion. The pad thai also had a wafer stacked atop, adding a unique touch and an otherwise tasty dish. Would I return? absolutely. Sign me up.

This was a drive by with the homies and we all died over how great this food is. Omg. We found the Thai heaven right here. You must try this spot. Delicious! You will not be disappointed! Live love and laugh - Sha

This is like my 3rd or 4th order here and I can't believe I lived so close and slept on this place for so long. The staff is SO nice The food is excellent- honestly some of the best Thai food in queens Best of all they can make most things vegetarian and let you customize spice and even remove things from dishes- I always take the curry out of the rice cuz it's not my thing I love how much vegetarian stuff there is. I went in to pick up an order and the staff said if I want something vegetarian just ask - they also have mock duck and tofu options I also added the wrong comment to my order and they waited for me to PU and didn't make it til they cleared it up w me Then they brought the food out to me as I waited outside Someone else commented about utensils - they don't include them unless you ask. I like that. Less waste. But they absolutely do NOT charge for them.

Was hanging around Astoria and needed a quick lunch fix-up. When I saw the storefront I wasn't convinced I would have the best experience here, but boy was I proven wrong. This small restaurant really packs a lot of flavors! This truly adds one for the books for the culinary mecca of Astoria! This place is small, cozy, and probably can only pack 8-10 patrons at a time. First off one of the best pad thai and Thai basil fried rice I've had there in NYC. The pad Thai was decent portion, piping hot, seasoned and flavored well, and came with a lot of shrimp. Very authentic. Thai basil fried rice. too was good and fresh. Lots of chicken and the noodles were really tasty. Tom yum soup was really refreshing, and I love the hints of sour tastes. Do check in on yelp, since you can order a free appetizer if you do! Service was fantastic. The owner kept us company and had our waters refilled. Best part is lunch special. You get a appetizer salad or soup (choose one of four) with your entree for consistently between $8 or $9 depending what kind of protein you choose. So filling at such an incredible price! You can't beat that!

    Spinach Chive Dumplings

This is tiny restaurant which was probably designed for take-out orders only. They barely have three tables that could possible host six customers, don't expect a restroom. Still decided to give it a try. Service was fast, attentive and efficient. Food was simple and delicious. Best item was the spinach/chive steamed dumplings. The best I've ever had! If you want simple and fast, give it shot.

Good price! I got everything, with delivery and tip for $25. I ordered the crab cheese, came with 6, it was more cream cheese than crab flavor but they were nicely crisp and the sauce added a nice sweet flavor. I also got the Pad Sew Ew. The flavor was there. I've had better thai food but it was also more expensive, so here is not a bad option for some cheaper take out :)

    Tom Kha Soup
    Christopher M.

Since the only reason I kept scrolling past Ddee Thai on the delivery apps was because I'm leery of businesses with high star ratings but without the photos to back it and give me an idea of what will arrive at my door. But I eventually decided to make my way through their menu as a quarantine foodie project. So VERY glad I did. As you'll see pictured, I made my way through multiple orders, enjoying every single bite. My thinks? Tom Kha Soup - good! All the flavors are there. The soup is on the brink of using too much coconut milk, but stops right before it gets there. Very generous with the protein add in. Three shrimps if you go that route, and a hearty amount of chicken for the poultry lovers, both with plenty of broth for that slurpy goodness. Spicy Wings - Unless even the slightest spiciness is a no no for you, or you have a thing against breaded wings, I'd recommend! I enjoyed that there is a nice flirt of heat in the batter, allowing you to enjoy them without the sauce. And if you want the authentic Thai HEAT upgrade, you can use the sauce on the side. My only qualm is that they aren't as meaty as I'd like. The breading was rather thick both times I ordered. Still, I ordered twice and would order again. Massaman Curry - Solid! Not a lot of potato presence, decent peanut presence. Paired well with beef. Crab Cheese - the best dipping sauce for rangoon in the area. Really like how they form the wonton! Makes it easy to handle, really nice presentation, and the perfect size to down in one chomp. Solid taste, and a good bite. Basil Rice - Some of the best I've had. Super flavorful, nice kick with the spice. I devoured. Green Curry - only one I didn't picture since I forgot to do it before I "repurposed" it to make a green curry pasta. Howsomever.....fam? FAM?! That perfect green curry spice build, layers flavors, natural flavors of the protein and veg enhanced by the curry. Geez. Likely my favorite of their curries, with Panang a close second. Speaking of... Panang Curry - OOO THAT'S GOOD! Soaks up beautifully in the jasmine rice. Slightly sweet, faint heat. An excellent rendition of an "every day curry". Red Curry - Also solid! I definitely remember taking bites and going, "Hmm..." *another bite* "Hmm!" And repeating. Lastly, when it comes to customer service (both in-house and delivery) they're on point. There was an item missing the last time I ordered. I called to let them know and see how they're handle. The woman who answered was authentically apologetic. And even though they were approaching closing, they honored my request, fired up a fresh plate, and had someone bring it. I could tell the delivery guy was tired but he remained professional and polite. Plus delivery is super quick, though everything very fresh. Ddee gets a verified thumbs up from this dude! A top competitor among the Queens Thai community.

Massaman curry and thai basil fried rice
    Maya W.

This is a lowkey kind of spot but the food is great. About $12-14 per entree depending on what kind of meat you want to get. We ordered the massaman curry, pad see ew and thai basil fried rice and all were delicious. I'd watch out on the thai basil fried rice if you aren't a fan of spicy - when they put the pepper icon on the menu they do mean it. Nice spot for a casual dinner out in the neighborhood. Wouldn't recommend for parties more than 3 or 4 - not a ton of space.

They definitely didn't tell me that lunch specials were available before I ordered my soup. Other than that, everyone is pleasant. Space: they have two sides, so plenty of space, but nights and weekends can get pretty packed, so keep that in mind. Food: I ordered Tom Yum soup and a lunch drunken noodle with a Thai iced tea. I only had the soup there and took the entire lunch special to go. Just based off of the soup, I will be going back. It was delicious and PACKED to the MAX! Writing this now, I can still imagine. Drunken Noodles were also really tasty. I like mine spicy and it could have been made spicier, but that's not even a real complaint. Also- the one next to me had this dish which reminded me of pad see ew but in a gravy. Looked delicious!! I will be back for whatever she had. Overall: the entire block is like a little Thai street. There are lots of Thai food options and I finally made it to Ayada. Super happy with my meal and excited to go back with some people and enjoy.

The server was so nice and accomodating to us! - Tom Yum Soup - Such a great soup! The flavor was super rich which contrasted very well with the fresh mushrooms. - Crispy Duck Panang Curry - I love that this dish came with rice as I feel like at most Thai restaurants in the city you need to order it on the side. The duck was extremely crispy and the flavor of the breast went very well with the rich curry. - Raw Shrimp Salad - I've never had this dish before so I was very interested in its flavor and it delivered! The shrimp had such a wonderful sour but fresh flavor while the inside of the shrimp was slightly soft almost like an uni texture. The best word to describe it was umami! The raw bitter melon and the garlic was also interesting to contrast the fishy flavor of the shrimp although we didn't really finish these side pieces at the end. I wish they cleaned the shrimp a bit better as there were still some poop tracks in the shrimp. Overall, a wonderful restaurant and would be very happy to come back to try more of their items!
