Pad thai with shrimp - A square black plate contains Pad Thai with shrimp, bean sprouts, and chopped green onions, topped with a sauce. A lime wedge is placed on the side of the plate. The dish is set on a wooden table in a restaurant setting.

Love this place. Casual, cozy spot for Thai food. Quality has changed somewhat over the years. Still good, but I remember my first time years ago, had their pad thai with shrimp and it was the best shrimp and pad thai noodles I'd ever had. Noodles were chewy and delicious, shrimps were big, juicy and succulent like the perfect shrimps. Their lunch special is a great deal for under $15 for an entree and appetizer. Quantity is smaller than it used to be, but probably same with other places. Service is very nice. Takeout and dine in. There's only a few small tables inside, so it's intimate and nice to sit and have a quiet lunch by yourself.

Pad See Ew - Two white bowls of stir-fried noodles with vegetables such as broccoli, bell peppers, and green beans are placed on a wooden table. The dishes appear to be Asian-style, with a savory sauce coating the ingredients. A fork is visible on the right side of the image, and a napkin with a fork is on the left side. Part of a person's arm is seen at the top of the image.

Coming from someone who doesn't eat Thai too frequently, this restaurant totally blew me away and caused me to come back multiple times. I tried the food both in-person and to-go and both were even portions. I can't say enough about the Pad See Ew! It is extremely delicious and filling. Even uploading the pictures now is making me crave it again. The only downside is the size of the restaurant. There are only two tables so if you plan to eat in I would definitely call ahead to make sure there's space. The service was quick and the waitress was friendly. I hope to see the space expand as business grows!

Shrimp Pad Kee Mao - A white plastic takeout container contains a stir-fry dish with shrimp, beef, onions, green peppers, and tomatoes. The dish appears cooked with a sauce, and the ingredients are mixed together. The container is placed on a light-colored surface, with a brown cup partially visible in the background. The dish is typical of Thai cuisine, featuring seafood, vegetables, and meat in a savory sauce.

I ordered the shrimp pad kee mao and it was really good and spicy. The shrimp were well cooked and juicy. They gave a good amount of shrimp too. The service was friendly and I received my take out on time and it was still hot when I got it. I am definitely ordering again!

Khao Nar Ped - A black plastic takeout container contains sliced duck with crispy skin, white rice, sautéed leafy greens, and chopped green onions, accompanied by a small cup of dark soy-based sauce. The meal is from Ddee Thai in Astoria, NY, known for traditional Thai dishes and gluten-free options.

Coronavirus Diary Day 271 - 12/10/2020 I'm not sure how long I can survive this pandemic. Vaccines are out there, but we can't get it cuz of the FDA. Anywho... Everyone seems to know this Ddee Thai, but how come I haven't heard about it? Today, I got a good deal from Allset, so I gave Ddee Thai a try by ordering three items to be delivered, and those were Shrimp Tom Yum, Spicy Wings and Crab Fried Rice. Whoa, Shrimp Tom Yum was delicious! The spiciness was perfect with a pretty good amount of jumbo shrimp (3) and straw mushrooms. I haven't had Tom Yum with straw mushroom before, so this was a good change. Spicy Wings were definitely spicy because of the sauce. Crab Fried Rice was plentiful, packed with lumps and lumps of crab. It'd be even more tasty if they provided Prik Nam Pla. I would also add that Khao Nah Ped (Roast duck with steamed Chinese broccoli over rice) was really good! 4.5 stars! I can't wait to dine in at this place. Again, it's up to His Highness Cuomo.

Similar to a nearby thai place (Hero), this place was incredible. We ordered multiple appetizers, entrees and drinks - seated outside on the corner to watch a bit of "nightlife" (can I even say that amidst COVID-19?) They have all the staple dishes like fried tofu, pad thai, papaya salad and the likes... but it's the presentation that makes this stand out. For a simple fried tofu appetizer, the pieces were stacked like a jenga puzzle. The pastry puffs were neatly seated next to one another, and the papaya salad was luscious.... Yes, I said "luscious" for a papaya salad. Prices were modest and the restaurant was big enough to be seated, served and finished in a very timely fashion. The pad thai also had a wafer stacked atop, adding a unique touch and an otherwise tasty dish. Would I return? absolutely. Sign me up.

This was a drive by with the homies and we all died over how great this food is. Omg. We found the Thai heaven right here. You must try this spot. Delicious! You will not be disappointed! Live love and laugh - Sha

Chive Dumplings - comes w sauce - Three fried dumplings with crispy, golden-brown exteriors are arranged in a rectangular foil container. The dumplings appear to be freshly cooked, with a slightly oily surface, and are set on a dark surface. The container suggests they are intended for takeout or quick service, and the image emphasizes their texture and color.

This is like my 3rd or 4th order here and I can't believe I lived so close and slept on this place for so long. The staff is SO nice The food is excellent- honestly some of the best Thai food in queens Best of all they can make most things vegetarian and let you customize spice and even remove things from dishes- I always take the curry out of the rice cuz it's not my thing I love how much vegetarian stuff there is. I went in to pick up an order and the staff said if I want something vegetarian just ask - they also have mock duck and tofu options I also added the wrong comment to my order and they waited for me to PU and didn't make it til they cleared it up w me Then they brought the food out to me as I waited outside Someone else commented about utensils - they don't include them unless you ask. I like that. Less waste. But they absolutely do NOT charge for them.

Was hanging around Astoria and needed a quick lunch fix-up. When I saw the storefront I wasn't convinced I would have the best experience here, but boy was I proven wrong. This small restaurant really packs a lot of flavors! This truly adds one for the books for the culinary mecca of Astoria! This place is small, cozy, and probably can only pack 8-10 patrons at a time. First off one of the best pad thai and Thai basil fried rice I've had there in NYC. The pad Thai was decent portion, piping hot, seasoned and flavored well, and came with a lot of shrimp. Very authentic. Thai basil fried rice. too was good and fresh. Lots of chicken and the noodles were really tasty. Tom yum soup was really refreshing, and I love the hints of sour tastes. Do check in on yelp, since you can order a free appetizer if you do! Service was fantastic. The owner kept us company and had our waters refilled. Best part is lunch special. You get a appetizer salad or soup (choose one of four) with your entree for consistently between $8 or $9 depending what kind of protein you choose. So filling at such an incredible price! You can't beat that!

Spinach Chive Dumplings - A square white plate holds two steamed dumplings with a translucent, slightly shiny skin, garnished with a few sesame seeds or fried shallots. A small bowl of dark soy sauce is placed at the top right corner of the plate. To the left, there is a small side salad consisting of mixed greens, including spinach and red leaf lettuce, with a few thin carrot strips for garnish. The plate is set on a wooden surface.
Dave K.

This is tiny restaurant which was probably designed for take-out orders only. They barely have three tables that could possible host six customers, don't expect a restroom. Still decided to give it a try. Service was fast, attentive and efficient. Food was simple and delicious. Best item was the spinach/chive steamed dumplings. The best I've ever had! If you want simple and fast, give it shot.

Good price! I got everything, with delivery and tip for $25. I ordered the crab cheese, came with 6, it was more cream cheese than crab flavor but they were nicely crisp and the sauce added a nice sweet flavor. I also got the Pad Sew Ew. The flavor was there. I've had better thai food but it was also more expensive, so here is not a bad option for some cheaper take out :)

Tom Kha Soup
Christopher M.

Since the only reason I kept scrolling past Ddee Thai on the delivery apps was because I'm leery of businesses with high star ratings but without the photos to back it and give me an idea of what will arrive at my door. But I eventually decided to make my way through their menu as a quarantine foodie project. So VERY glad I did. As you'll see pictured, I made my way through multiple orders, enjoying every single bite. My thinks? Tom Kha Soup - good! All the flavors are there. The soup is on the brink of using too much coconut milk, but stops right before it gets there. Very generous with the protein add in. Three shrimps if you go that route, and a hearty amount of chicken for the poultry lovers, both with plenty of broth for that slurpy goodness. Spicy Wings - Unless even the slightest spiciness is a no no for you, or you have a thing against breaded wings, I'd recommend! I enjoyed that there is a nice flirt of heat in the batter, allowing you to enjoy them without the sauce. And if you want the authentic Thai HEAT upgrade, you can use the sauce on the side. My only qualm is that they aren't as meaty as I'd like. The breading was rather thick both times I ordered. Still, I ordered twice and would order again. Massaman Curry - Solid! Not a lot of potato presence, decent peanut presence. Paired well with beef. Crab Cheese - the best dipping sauce for rangoon in the area. Really like how they form the wonton! Makes it easy to handle, really nice presentation, and the perfect size to down in one chomp. Solid taste, and a good bite. Basil Rice - Some of the best I've had. Super flavorful, nice kick with the spice. I devoured. Green Curry - only one I didn't picture since I forgot to do it before I "repurposed" it to make a green curry pasta. Howsomever.....fam? FAM?! That perfect green curry spice build, layers flavors, natural flavors of the protein and veg enhanced by the curry. Geez. Likely my favorite of their curries, with Panang a close second. Speaking of... Panang Curry - OOO THAT'S GOOD! Soaks up beautifully in the jasmine rice. Slightly sweet, faint heat. An excellent rendition of an "every day curry". Red Curry - Also solid! I definitely remember taking bites and going, "Hmm..." *another bite* "Hmm!" And repeating. Lastly, when it comes to customer service (both in-house and delivery) they're on point. There was an item missing the last time I ordered. I called to let them know and see how they're handle. The woman who answered was authentically apologetic. And even though they were approaching closing, they honored my request, fired up a fresh plate, and had someone bring it. I could tell the delivery guy was tired but he remained professional and polite. Plus delivery is super quick, though everything very fresh. Ddee gets a verified thumbs up from this dude! A top competitor among the Queens Thai community.

Massaman curry and thai basil fried rice - The image shows a Thai dish with a bowl of curry containing chicken, potatoes, carrots, and onions in a yellowish sauce. Next to it is a plate of fried rice with visible bits of vegetables and possibly egg, garnished with cucumber slices. The meal is placed on a wooden table, with a glass of water and a spoon visible.
Maya W.

This is a lowkey kind of spot but the food is great. About $12-14 per entree depending on what kind of meat you want to get. We ordered the massaman curry, pad see ew and thai basil fried rice and all were delicious. I'd watch out on the thai basil fried rice if you aren't a fan of spicy - when they put the pepper icon on the menu they do mean it. Nice spot for a casual dinner out in the neighborhood. Wouldn't recommend for parties more than 3 or 4 - not a ton of space.

This is the best Thai restaurant I've had in America!…read more We went on Sunday around 230pm and waited about 20 minutes but right after us the line grew pretty long and was a 1 hour wait. The place is quite small. I've been chasing the raw shrimp ceviche flavors ever since I had it at a night market in Thailand and finally found a close 2nd here! It was a perfect balance of tangy and salty. They gave us a decent amount of shrimps. The tom yum soup had a kick (to the back of your throat) to it even though we asked for mild. It was tasty. The basil minced pork was also delicious with the Thai omelette completing it really well! My partner got the intestine herbal soup and it was pretty good! I wasn't in the mood for it. I had some bites of it and it wasn't smelly at all. Thai iced tea was also good and as expected. A bit too sweet for me, I wouldn't order it again.

Pushing through the crowds waiting for a table at the door, we secured a spot just beyond the doorway. Inside, it was very cozy and tight as far as seating. The restaurant dining room is really meant for single diners or pairs of people, as the room is not wide. Any group 4+ will be difficult unless you have a reservation and they planned for it. The menu has a lot of seafood, pork and classic Thai curry dishes. Those all caught my eye. It was hard to decide. The waiter was super friendly and all smiles. We asked for his recommendations between the dishes we were thinking of and his choices were spot on. If you are a fan of spicy/dishes with heat, there are plenty on this menu. I wanted to order a few but I was afraid to given the spice level couldn't really be adjusted on some. Started with the curry puff appetizer. It was really tasty, potatoes and onion as well as the curry powder flavor really came through on this. Delicious. For entrees, we tried the: - clams with basil sauce - packed with a mild chili paste heat in the sauce but stir fried to perfect consistency. Of the whole plate, a few clams didn't open so I tossed those. - duck panang - nicely roasted with crispy textured skin, paired with basil in a coconut milk and curry paste. Very delicious. - stewed pork leg, could've been more tender so it was a tad on the tough side. The soy sauce soup and boiled egg was good though. Drinks were very good, Thai Iced tea was not overly sweet. We opted to pass on dessert as the table we sat at was really meant for two but it was three of us. I felt a little too crammed in. I think I would've enjoyed the meal better if I had a more relaxed/leisure dining pace but they were really busy and too tight on space. I can see why it's a hidden gem and noted as a Bib-Gourmand. Prices are very fair and the food was really good. Very authentic.

They definitely didn't tell me that lunch specials were available before I ordered my soup. Other than that, everyone is pleasant. I only had the soup there and took the entire lunch special to go. Just based off of the soup, I will be going back. It was delicious and PACKED to the MAX! Writing this now, I can still imagine. Drunken Noodles were also really tasty. I like mine spicy and it could have been made spicier, but that's not even a real complaint. Also- the one next to me had this dish which reminded me of pad see ew but in a gravy. Looked delicious!! I will be back for whatever she had. Overall: the entire block is like a little Thai street. I've been wanting to try a restaurant in New York that serves authentic Isan/Northern Thai food,…read moreand we found this spot in Queens. It's not in Manhattan, but I'm telling you -- it's worth the trip. It's located right next to Little Thailand and easy to find with Google Maps. One downside is that the space is very small. They only have four small tables for two and one larger table for 3-4 people, so it might be difficult for bigger groups unless you make a reservation. We arrived right after they opened, and not long after, the whole place was packed. Besides the size, the restaurant is really pretty and cozy. The menu is interesting and offers a wide variety of dishes -- fried, stir-fried, grilled, soups, and more. Here's what we ordered: Crab Fried Rice - We ordered it without much thought, just to try it, and it ended up being one of the best Thai dishes we've ever had. Even my husband (who is Laos/Thai) loved it. He rarely gets to eat crab because his mom has a severe allergy, so this was special for him too. (We forgot take picture lol) Crispy Pork Belly - Served super hot and crispy. I love that they battered it instead of just deep-frying it plain. It had great texture and was so flavorful. Tum Thai (Thum Mak Hoong) - We ordered it very spicy and asked if they could make it Laos-style. They tried, and it was pretty good. It was slightly lacking the strong fermented fish sauce (padek) punch that gives it that bold, pungent flavor. But honestly, it's still very close to Northern style -- just more approachable and less intense, so more people can enjoy it. Sticky Rice - Served the traditional way in a bamboo basket (aep khao) with a lid, which keeps it piping hot. I love when restaurants keep it authentic like that. We wanted to order more because there were so many options, but just three dishes were already enough for us -- we even had leftovers. They packed everything very securely; I carried the papaya salad around all day and it didn't spill at all. It is pretty pricey, but honestly, it's worth trying at least once for the quality and authenticity. We'll definitely bring his parents here next time we're back in NYC.
