Very good locksmith and service. We wanted the locks in the house re-keyed after many years, and an electronic lock put on. Avi was good to work with before the visit; giving me options to buy the electronic lock myself or through him, transparent pricing. For the re-key items there where several doors. Through some photos I'd texted him he suggested we might replace some older rusted hardware which we did, his price to replace was reasonable and for those I let him supply the hardware. He didn't pressure us, he would have re-keyed the existing. He also went out of his way to get a larger number of original keys vs copies we'd requested. The scheduling was a little snafu, not show stopper and would use them again but worth noting. We got estimate on Sunday for a Monday afternoon slot 1-4. Avi called before 4 asking if 5 was ok, we said ok we were around. Turns out he was not able to get there till 7:30PM which he did- and finished the job at 9:30PM. Very dedicated and he didn't leave us hanging but it was a bit late in the day to be dealing with work in the house and had a little bit of rushed feel to it. If it was earlier in the day, There were some items I noticed during the job, outside the scope of the job (like a rusted strike plate) that I might have asked him to take care of also (for an additional cost) but it was so late I Think he and we were ready for the day to be over. He did give us some discounts for the inconvenience - maybe worked out to 10% or so, which I appreciated. I get the sense they are a small company - 2 brothers, and getting well deserved great yelp reviews drives lots of business but it may be hard to keep up with volume or turn a job down to stay on schedule. But he got it done in quality fashion and did acknowledge through a discount the late hour. Pros: -Competitive prices -Honest - friendly -Easy to schedule for next day -quality work -Familiar with electronic locks. -Wants you to be satisfied, put extra effort to get a larger set of originals which I'd asked for as copies never seem quite the same. Cons: - Timing covered above. - Our dog got loose 4 times while the work was being done going out one of the doors. Perhaps we should have locked the dog up during the visit, although Avi didn't seem to be paying attention to the door being open even after we had to chase the dog in for the 2nd time. So just be aware if you have a dog, be careful to tie them up, it could have been a problem if he didn't come right back. Would I use again and recommend: Yes I couldn't quite bring myself to give 5 stars But these are honest / qualified hard working folks and I would recommend. I hate that sometimes folks feel a 4 is 'bad', it isn't I recommend them - a '5' is pretty flawless execution which this wasn't quite but still solid / recommended. read more

Simply put these two gentleman are awesome and very good at what they do.(Helping those of us who are moving too fast and accidentally lock themselves out of things/places, in my case my car) Story: I was getting ready to leave for the day and get some errands done, as I was leaving my house I had a handful of bags and other crap in my hand. To get these items out of my hand as quick;y as possible, I opened the trunk on my vehicle via my key fob and placed the items within the trunk. (My trunk was open however my car was still entirely locked). As i dropped all the items in my hand within the trunk( including my keyring with all keys on them) I was in such a rush i closed the trunk and realized at that moment my car keys was still in the trunk and now enclosed within my trunk. As i mentioned before once the trunk is closed it automatically locked itself back, along with all the other doors on the car. At this point I am pissed of and searched for and found "DC Locksmith". Review: I initially called "DC Locksmith" and Avi picked up, over the phone it was tough to understand him so he told me he would have his brother speak with me who's English is a little clearer to understand. Udi then called me back and we discussed price, car type, and location. Now I don't know where they are located but, wherever they were Avi arrived at my building within no more than 15minutes of the call. Upon arrival Avi went straight to work on unlocking my car door and had me back within my vehicle within 2min. All in all from point of initial call to me driving off within my vehicle it took a total of 20-25min. These guys are great, they are professional, very timely, and very efficient. I would recommend them to anyone locked out of anything, and if I am to ever get locked out of something again, they are definitely getting a ring from me. Locked myself out of my house. Felt like an idiot. Called DC Locksmith because it was the top rating on yelp. I was told it would be $29 for the service charge and an estimated between $79-$169 depending on the lock for the actual service. 7 minutes (!) after hanging up to request an order, I got a call from one of their locksmiths saying he was on his way. 27 minutes later, he was in front of my house. My locksmith's name was Daniel (recently moved here from Israel), and he was awesome. He was friendly, quick to assess the issue, and had me back in my house in 5 minutes. Because it was just the door handle that was locked and not the deadbolt, I was surprised/annoyed when he said it would be $135 for the work. (I'd been expecting the lower end of the estimate, but truth be told, I thought I was going to be spending closer to $300, not $164 total.) Honestly, I don't know what more I could ask for. I was locked out of my house for a total 40 minutes because of their prompt response and knowledge of their work. I hope to not have to use them again (because let's face it...if you lock yourself out of your place, it's your own damn fault), but would absolutely not hesitate to call them again and/or recommend them to a friend. read more

Overall, my experience was positive. Despite a couple issues, I would have still used DC Locksmith because the prices were the best and the owner is very nice guy. I called DC Locksmith after reviewing other locksmiths, largely because of the positive reviews. I asked for an estimated cost. The prices were good, and big plus: service call and other prices were normal until 10pm, which is very generous. I had some trouble getting in touch with the owner again later to schedule an appointment. Note that the owner is very busy, and this might have been a bad day. It's clear this guy works very hard. Here are the two main issues: 1. Unfortunately, although I confirmed the reservation the day of (no problem getting through), the owner was almost an hour late. It turns out he had an emergency call that took longer than he expected. He apologized, and gave us a nice discount. That's a pretty good sign. (He also gave us plenty of copies of keys, which is really nice because it was one less thing for me to worry about.) 2. I had several locks that needed rekeying, and I thought I was careful to confirm the price over the phone for all the locks, but it turns out the price was per lock. I've never had a lock rekeyed, so perhaps it would be obvious to someone else; but if you don't have a good sense for these things, make sure to ask for clarification about whether the price is per lock or for everything. That said, his price was still the best we could find for a 7pm service call. So both issues had a positive upshot. He was very friendly; he made some small talk, but otherwise very focused. We had a lock that couldn't be reset, but he gave it a lot of effort and didn't complain or try to charge us for it. He left us with some really useful info. If you're shopping around, definitely give this guy a call, especially if you want locks changed after 5pm. read more

I was able to open my security door by sticking in hand through the mail slot, but the 2nd door was still locked. I called a few smiths who couldn't get out to me until later in the day. I then called DC Locksmith who could reach me in less than 30 minutes and were priced competitively. I don't normally write reviews, but I feel compelled to write one based on the high quality of service I just received. These guys are knowledgeable, professional, and they put the customer first. I would recommend them to anyone. Here's why: I bought an automatic keypad lock on Amazon. In fact, I've bought the same lock before, and it works great. This particular lock, however, came with a manufacturer's defect. Avi identified the problem, called the manufacturer with me, realized we couldn't fix it in the moment, proactively offered to go to Home Depot for me and get a different lock. He bought one, came back, installed it, and I didn't like it (because I'm kind of high maintenance). It didn't have the same features as the one I had ordered. All of this took about two hours, and Avi didn't charge me for his time today because he knows the entire situation (though not his fault at all) was frustrating for me. In the meantime, I'm going to order a replacement lock, and he's going to come back and install the new one. The entire time he was patient, helpful and super professional.
