Construction on your home feels high stakes: it's a ton of money, it's destructive to your routine, it's messy, it's a freakin emotional roller coaster watching the sausage get made--and Idan stayed with us the entire time. No problem is a problem for Idan, "Don't worry, we'll fix it. Be there tomorrow." He keeps a good attitude and isn't ruffled when you are (and you will be). The thing we most appreciated about Idan and his team was the level of transparency and communication. Being in a client facing role myself, I would never dream of making myself as available as this team does. I imagine it is rare in this business: when you ask a question, no matter how trivial, Idan and his team jump on it in near real time; it's incredible. Idan is creative, a practical problem solver, and a go getter--he wants to find a way and he does it as fast as possible. When I finally got hold of him, he admitted that he spent my $ 1000 for materials, and next day told me he will not return it. I hired him before. He did a good job, showed me his good side (a mask, beneath which is a very, very, very bad person who bites the hand that feeds him). Then, after he developed my trust, he asked for $6000 for 1 year to pay off high interest credit card debt. I gave it to him but a year later when I asked for $ back he started giving me excuses, made me wait till he sells his car, then, asked for 2-3 more month, then 2-3 more. I still thought he could be trusted and treated him as a friend. I gave him construction work to work for this $ and I gave him $1000 more for materials. He promised work to be done in a month or 2. But, 1 year later - no work, no $ and he did not answer the phone and did not return phone calls for over 6 months. I finally reached him through contacting his wife, asked her to help me get hold of him and explained situation to her. Alexander then called me, told me, that he wanted to return but will not return me my $ because I am contacting his wife, I am a threat to his family. He said: "I'm not going to return anything to you out of principle!." This is his formula/his way to justify his low/thief/ratlike behavior. I want to warn all good people not to fall into his trap like I did. Summary: He did work for me cheap 1 st. 2 nd I gave him more work but it was very expensive but good. After he developed my trust he stole my $ by using deceit and manipulation and showed his real -antisocial personality disorder face. In addition, we upgraded the entire electric and plumbing systems, replaced the furnace, water heater, deck, all windows, entrance door, major part of the flooring, and repainted the house inside and outside. We decided to go with Mullan Enterprises after interviewing half dozen contractors. Mullan came in with the most comprehensive and competitive bid. And it turned out to be a great choice. He gave us great advice when needed, and he is honest and straightforward. For example, do you want this paint or that one etc. I also trusted him with my neighbor's keys b/c he needed to enter there in order to set up scaffolding. Following a set of city-approved engineering plans drawn up by an independent engineering firm, BGC did an excellent, high-quality, and cost efficient job throughout the four month project. Matt Bailey, CEO, was always available to field questions on the work ahead and to provide weekly, on-site updates and reviews of the project. Budget monitoring was provided throughout the project and change-order, pre-approval procedures were always followed. When presented with the quirky problems one inevitably finds in older buildings, Matt was able to find effective, imaginative solutions. The BGC crew did an excellent job, arriving early every morning, ready to work, always respectful of residents' needs and ready to accommodate any special requests if possible. The foremen, Juan and Amando, were very knowledgeable and able and willing to offer on-demand updates and explanations of the on-going work. On the communications front, Mariela in the front office was always available to handle any and all administrative matters from answering billing questions, scheduling meetings, and third party matters. We contracted Paul and Acme Builders for my "Man-Cave" project, to tear down my closet, wire my room for all the fun a man can have: play music (walls are wired with input/output for any electronic instrument) through the PA system, or just headsets (ports on the walls), have a sporting event or even dance parties (disco ball, LCD laser projector, fog machine). These guys were professional, on time and on budget in transforming my room. How do you screen people (strangers) roam around in your house and trust them? Certainly not by signing up with the lowest bidder, although many times the lowest bidder may be Acme builders as they have integrity in pricing it as reasonable as possible. Anything cheaper than that, would mean cutting corners (cheaper material, shoddy construction practices, not-so-good laborers). Acme Builders can handle any project of any size/budget.
