the last honest auto mechanic shop…read more.. look no further than econo auto service for all your mechanical needs! my wife is a traveling photographer and was recently sent to eugene for work (we live in central oregon). her car made it safely there, but the next day, she heard a "pop" and it wouldn't go into gear. yikes! what do you do when you're in a city far from home and your car needs repair? imagine the panic. as luck would have it, i came across david at econo auto service. i called him and explained both the situation, and my fear. he immediately put me at ease. he recommended a tow company, and took my wife's car in for evaluation, diagnosed it within hours (bad master/slave clutch cylinders--a repair we had attempted to do ourselves last year), and had it repaired in less than two days. we knew that the starter was on it's way out, which noticed and suggested replacement during the other work because he didn't want my wife to be stranded somewhere. he explained everything in plain terms, didn't make either of us feel stupid for not knowing more about our car, allayed fears with constant communication and patience. the work was superb. and even tho he could have easily gouged "an out of towner" his rates were both reasonable and fair. my wife drove home safely without any further issues. we got lucky. you can too! call econo auto service and know that you can trust them with your repair.

They denied this but my husband being knowledgeable about landscaping asked why there was so much drit like someone went to Lowes or home Depot and picked up either a bunch of plants or soil, found foot prints on the INSIDE of the windshield on the front passenger side like someone was having a good old time, there was oil all over the top of the oil cover, soil threw out the whole car You know i expected a little bit of drit from getting in and out off the car but didnt expect the car needing a full detailed work AGAIN when I brought it in I ONLY had it LESS THAN A WEEK and it was super clean maybe a mico amount of drit from getting in and out of it but #1) I never went and got soil or plants to have that much drit in the trunk #2) I never gave then permission to enter my car and pull out the car seat I was supposed too have gone and get it which I expressed #3) there was no foot prints on the inside of the windshield I would have noticed it since I wipe it down every other day #4) they order the parts and without informing you about the mistake and let it SIT for 2weeks fully knowing it takes 2weeks to get the part to come in so when you call thinking you car is done on time to find out its gonna be another 2-3weeks and then not also informing you that the part is delayed then by 'magic' it shows up the next day Over all if I could i would leave a -5 review They really dropped the ball And ill never come back This happened back in end of February 2026 it took me so long to leave a review because I was so pissed off, distort and had to get it properly cleaned which took longer than it should because thats how bad they left my car It even looked like they loaned my car out and if they did thats illegal They shouldn't have done personal earns and called it "drive test" when I asked where the car is and that I want to look at it and not leaving till after we tested ourselves because at that point we where so done and just wanted to car back (it went from trying to get help to being a total nightmare) they kept saying "it be back in about an hr or so" which translates to "Someone has the car and is doing personal errands with it and they will be back when there back" we waited over an hr had to come back the next day A drive test shouldn't have taken no more than 30mins to an hr not 4hrs not come back tomorrow afternoon my dad did a drive test and was back within 30-40mins THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAMERS AND WILL LIE

Also, I mentioned that my car (a second vehicle) probably needed an oil change. After checking, they stated "Nope, good for another 3000 miles." It would have been easy to take advantage, but they did not. I happily paid the $45 inspection and testing fee. Look, if you need a solid business to maintain your car, I don't think that you can do better. Two thumbs up and five stars all the way.

Oakmont Service Center came recommended by a respected transmission expert, and my first interaction with Jerremy, the manager, was positive. My initial visit--radiator exchange, exhaust leak repair, and a minor carburetor adjustment--went smoothly, and meeting the two mechanics who handle classics gave me confidence in the referral. That confidence didn't last. A Breakdown and a Missed Diagnosis During a casual weekend drive, my Chevy wouldn't start after a coffee stop. After checking the usual suspects with no luck, I called Jerremy. The car was towed in, and it took two days before Eric looked at it. Because I'd had a starter issue in the past, he removed and reinstalled the starter without performing a full diagnostic. A professional approach would have been to verify the actual cause rather than rely on history. The real issue was the distributor. I chose to upgrade to an electronic module and coil. Eric removed the distributor and sent it to a shop in Cottage Grove for the upgrade. When it returned, I made it clear--in front of Eric, Jerremy, and Mike (the owner)--that if there were any questions, they should call the builder directly. No call was ever made. Critical Steps Missed The builder later informed me that Oakmont suggested they "needed to get into the engine," which was unnecessary and incorrect. The distributor had been installed improperly, and a firewall-mounted module was still running six volts--something any experienced classic mechanic would have caught immediately. The car would never have started without correcting that. To suggest engine work without completing basic diagnostic steps was a bad call. Lack of Accountability When I stopped by to speak with Mike about the missed steps, he was "too busy" to talk. Jerremy took my number, but no one followed up. When I reached out again, I was offered a $100 refund--an acknowledgment that mistakes were made, but not a meaningful resolution. I was also disappointed to walk in and see Eric working on my classic without a fender mat. That alone speaks volumes about attention to detail and respect for the vehicle. A Referral That Didn't Hold Up This referral fell short. As another reviewer, Von Sellz, pointed out--we don't all have dash cams to monitor what happens behind the shop doors. Some shops, like Joe's Garage, take thorough check-in photos and run a professional, accountable operation. They've been doing it right since 1952. Oakmont Service Center had an opportunity to live up to their reputation and the trust placed in them through referrals. Instead, they missed critical steps, failed to communicate, and didn't take ownership of their mistakes.

He wasn't friendly, I felt underlying passive aggressiveness + judgement for not jumping at the chance to book services (it is a financial issue!). Also I came here a year ago and it was the same feeling from him, he said it was almost past due to get new brake pads. I still haven't done new brake pads. Today I took my car elsewhere and my brake pads are at 6mm, so they have more mileage than he gave the impression of. I won't come back, my gut told me don't go there again.
