We had the maple cinnamon sugar donut and regretted not ordering like 10 more. The chocolate donut was perfect because it didn't have the artificial chocolatey taste to it like most others I've tried. My first review has to be a donut shop, it just has to be that way. Anyway, as a certified fatty and lover of fried goodness, this donut shop is the bomb diggity. If you've been to the other donut shops in the Chi, you'd find yourself broke if you buy a dozen donuts since their prices are so expensive imo ($3-$4 a pop). DB3 donuts are different; their prices are competitive, but won't really break the bank. I love how I can now go to a place for $1.50-$2.75 a donut, and the flavors are amazing. Simple, but delicate. Not overly sweet (unless you eat 12 donuts in one sitting), but still delicious. Cereal on top of a donut = genius. My only criticism is that it's only open on weekends from 9 am til 2 pm, but that's probably good for my body since I try to eat healthier on the weekdays. My wife, 2 daughters and I paid a visit to this new place on a weekend and it was surprisingly not too crowded. We were lucky. Our friends all told us how busy this place can be on the weekends. Not only was our order over 30 minutes late, it was the worst customer service I have ever encountered. The people working there could care less that the order was not ready on time. This place is tiny and cute. They had some unique and interesting flavors that were out of the normal chocolate and vanilla. Specifically the blue raspberry kool-aid was great cause it was sweet and tangy. All of the doughnuts were really fluffy but had too much dough. read more

I love this place! The donuts are always fresh & delicious. They have a good variety of flavors. My absolute favorite is the pistachio donut. Pistachio cream inside, a pistachio glaze with the nuts on top. Sad thing is that it's not a regular item. Flavors are rotated about every 6 weeks or so & pistachio is in that rotation. Ordered 3 donuts and hot chocolate. The dough for the donuts was good, like a good yeasty dough. I got chocolate ganache, chocolate cream, and chocolate raised. I feel like if they has a smaller size that would be cool. The cream filled one was like a chocolate custard filling with powdered sugar on top. Today December 18 2020, I went into DB3 Donuts to get their yummy donuts but they were not so yummy for my friend group. In my box there was a long black strand of hair. It had to be from the young lady that was in the front who boxed my order. She was in baggy clothing and had her long hair down, if you are going to work in food service have your hair tied up!! Not to mention the fact that she packed my order wrong and you know why? She blabbed so much she did not hear what I was saying, you cannot be talking up a storm while helping customers. I've tried several donuts and these are by far the best not only in Chicago but in the US. Their cakes donuts are fresh and light and their glazed donuts are tasty. It's hard to pick A favorite but I can say that two of them are so worth coming back for. The Dude Go is an amazing maple bacon donut and the Salted Caramel Ciffe Cake donut is out of this world. They make their own toffee/caramel to put on top of the donut. We will defiantly come back again! read more

One of my favorite breakfast treats is a good fresh donut, this place does it very well. I couldn't tell which flavor is best because I haven't tried them all. The donuts are UNBELIEVABLE!! They are melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness and Db3 has some awesomely unique flavors that you will not find at donut chains. The atmosphere is great and it really is a chill place to hang. Perfect setting! Their donut choices are not too much to be considered overwhelming, thank goodness. The staff is nice too. Highly recommend to try one of the cereal donuts. Great little donut shop in Evanston! I'm a big fan of Ten Mile House so had to check out this sister shop. I arrived maybe 10 minutes after opening on a Saturday morning and the line was already to the door - which is a testament of how tasty these donuts are! After living in Lincoln Park (a short walk to great donuts like Glazed and Infused and Firecakes), I missed having a good donut place nearby when we moved north. DB3 easily fills the void. Their chocolate ganache doughnuts are by far their best and are a dark, slightly bitter chocolate doughnut with great texture. Maple Cinnamon is a runner up. Stopped in on a Saturday morning. I tried a maple cinnamon donut and a vanilla chocolate glazed donut. The maple cinnamon was pretty good, nice, light texture, with some crispiness on the outside. The vanilla chocolate had that nice texture too, but was absolutely flavorless. I couldn't even taste the chocolate icing. Perhaps some of the other donut flavors are better, but I'm not sure I'll be back. The door opens right into the space, so it's a bit chilly inside on a cold, damp November morning. However, I love baking and appreciate excellent sweet treats and this doughnut place is like no other (way better than doughnut vault downtown). Small, delicious, and fresh -- a fun special treat. As someone who loves doughnuts, I can say that this place is without question the best place for doughnuts I've had so far in the whole US. Every time I visit a city- and I do travel quite a bit- I always try to find the best doughnuts. Until today, I hadn't found a spot that compared to Seattle's Top Pot doughnuts, a shop which also utilizes the small batch approach in making doughnuts. DB3 however topped that with the Oreo and Cinnamon Toast Crunch doughnuts I just had today. Each doughnut had a perfect balance of sweetness- without being overly sweet- and a slightly salty kick and some texture on the outside while being completely moist in the middle. Long story short, you could tell that each doughnut was crafted and designed with the utmost care. I stopped in on a Sunday excited to have a great donut shop close to home. Left really disappointed. We have some pretty spectacular donuts in the Chicagoland area and this just isn't one of them. They were comparable to something you might find in a grocery store. The donuts were not light and airy and the flavors were strange. The pineapple cookie butter was not tasty and had very little filling. The pastry cream filled donut was blah (it would have been better with chocolate glaze instead of the sugar).
