Wowww wow wow! I…read morewasnt sure what to expect when my friend suggested this place but I was thoroughly and pleasantly surprised. The "Detroit style" pizza really reminds me more of focaccia bread. It is SO fluffy and delightful. Unpopular opinion here but I typically don't consider pizza to be a "meal." It's something you eat when you don't have it in you to cook, and even if you get it in Chicago it's like...a last ditch effort at feeding yourself. BUT this feels like a meal. Like a treat. Like a schmancy lil indulgence you deserve. My friend is gluten free and I never in a million years would guess this is gluten free. I almost hope they didn't mistakenly put it on regular dough, for my friends sake. But if this is legitimately gluten free, I would gladly get it again even if I wasn't with a gluten intolerant friend. The artichoke pieces are massive, tender and tangy. The sausage is a bit strange, ground sausage instead of little lumps. And the mushrooms really top the "artesenal" feel. There's a cute little market with interesting delicacies and they have an incredibly diverse assortment of non-alcoholic beverages. The clerk did an amazing job of describing many of the options, took a lot of time making sure we knew what we were looking at. Definitely a connoisseur. Fabulous. A little pricey but, again, this is an indulgence. A meal. A quaint opportunity to relax and engulf yourself in fluffy, delectable fare that feels authentic and real. Not just ingredients tossed on a piece of dough for convenience sake. I look for to my next visit here!

They've got a great selection of pizzas in several styles. We tried both the thin-crust Roman style and the thicker al taglio. Both were good but the al taglio was fantastic! The crust was the best part, for sure. We got vegan pizzas (with really good vegan cheese!), but they've got a ton of dairy/meat options as well. It's nice to go somewhere that can serve everyone! There's also a really good little market of Italian products and wines, so you can do a little shopping too while you're here. I didn't have a sandwich but they've looked really good too. There's a nice dog-friendly outdoor patio as well for warm days. Emma Hearth and Market is a must-visit if you're in the area and worth a drive too!

Today, I decided that I wanted something different and had a drive until I was back in town, so it would be fine to have a longer wait time for pick up. I don't see why it takes 45 minutes to make a regular crust pizza with one topping, but at least they let you know ahead of time. My issue today was that I also ordered a sandwich. I picked up my food as the pizza was coming out of the oven, in which I had to wait on.. and the whole time my sandwich was setting there boxed up. It had been boxed up for quite some time. The sandwich was cold, and the pizza was bland and didn't have the extra sauce that I paid for. It's just very bland pizza. The crust is flavorless, and it seems like the cheese is too. The sandwich would have been good if it was hot and the oil hadn't soaked into the bread by the time my pizza was ready. Let me also add, that it's a pretty pricey pizza. So... high cost, long wait times, and meh flavor.

The toppings were covered with cheese so I couldn't see the quality or quantity. The pie crust was too thick and chewy for our taste. The price for a 14 inch, 2 topping pizza was twenty dollars. Not exactly a bargain. We were expecting more.
