Beautiful space and the food is just exquisite. The owner is so nice and inviting, which compliments the space even more. Love that there's a lot of open light and I also the bar area. Food is even more noteworthy. I ordered the Oven Roasted Chicken and the Mac & Cheese. Not a long wait time, maybe 20 minutes. Very crispy skin without being friend and the Mac & cheese is what you want: homey, comforting, and cheesy. The worst customer service Ever!!! I was with the party of 14 & I could not believe it. Dirty tables all around us while the owner Never came to greet us or Apologize for the service. Out of potatoes @ 1pm but u knew u had a party booked! If I could give -10 would be too much. The one waitress ran herself crazy, 2 people never got there food after waiting 2 hrs, not to mention the food was NOT soul food. Are you kidding me? They have some things to work out here. At this point I cannot recommend Davis Wayne's, though I wanted to love it. Everything is fixable though. To start at the beginning there were four of us that met there. The first two had their water and menus when we got there. Their service person that gets beverages and menus never came back or even seemed to be aware of his surroundings, much less us. He needs some training. At this point he is a waste of their payroll. One of us stopped him and asked what the best thing on the menu is. He still didn't notice we didn't have water or menus. We easily had been sitting for 30 minutes when the table next to us told their server no one had taken our order. The waitress then acknowledged us right away, and told us she thought someone was taking care of us. She brought us a sample of cornbread, which was excellent, as as a way of apologizing. She was really good, and tried hard to get our orders in and out fast. They were out of pot roast unless we wanted to wait an hour. When we did get our plates, they were out of cornbread for the time being, but we each received a small, maybe one inch piece, on our plate. We were told we would get more when it came out of the oven, but it didn't happen. Forgetfulness was a problem, and they weren't busy. The food was good, not great...but it wasn't good enough to override the stumbles in service. Beverages were never refilled, the food was not very hot, we had to ask for silverwear to eat with. Lastly, it's expensive. $16 for a meat and 3. $10 for a vegetable plate. The portions are small. Lunch for 4 with no drinks or appetizers and 2 desserts (served with a dirty spoon) was $74. read more

Disappointed! If you're looking for real southern fried corn, don't come here! The corn is just whole kernel canned corn. Didn't care for the mashed potatoes either. The roasted chicken was very tender and a big breast. Husband was disappointed in the sweet potato casserole. Not at all like he expected. His pot roast was tender and tasty but disappointed it didn't come with potatoes and carrots. Guess we're giving it three stars because the chocolate cake was delicious. The food came way to fast after ordering it, several minutes... than we understood why: the pork jerk had the unmistakable taste and looks of the left over and reheated food, so was the pork chops. My family was so excited to try a soul food restaurant in Ooltewah, but so very disappointed. We arrived around six and there were a few other tables filled. It appeared drinks had been served but no food. We had to wait about 30 minutes for food after ordering. They were out of pot roast so we ordered the pork tenderloin and it was dry & chewy. The sweet potatoes were not good. My son described his meal as lunchroom food. He had the parmesan chicken and mashed potatoes. The chicken was cut up into pieces, chewy and no flavor. The cornbread was okay but very small pieces. We had to ask for our drinks to be filled. The meal with tip was more that $50.00 for 3 people. too pricey for quality of food, quantity of food and service. Cracker Barrel would be a better choice. read more

The service was good and all of the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was not busy when we arrived only about 4 other couples and a few people at the bar. The food was mediocre for how long we waited for it to arrive. The Mac and cheese was ok but small, cornbread was good but small, mashed potatoes were ok, the pot roast was lacking flavor and a great deal of fat on it. Just returned from a ladies luncheon that had been booked two weeks in advance for a party of 18. There was one waiter and two people (we were told) working in the kitchen! I give this one star only because the restaurant was nice, after that zero. We were a party of about 14, after placing our orders a server came out to tell us they were out of roasted potatoes and we should order something else. It was 1:00 they opened at 11 and already you're out. First strike. Next we waited for about forty minutes for our food and finally asked the server what's up with that. Second strike. Then when our food finally began to trickle out two plates here, one plate there, five minutes then another finally everyone except the first two people to order had food. Did they ever get their order? After everyone else had finished eating and they asked AGAIN, the server brought food out WITH ATTITUDE, when they said never mind we don't want it. Did the owner come over to apologize why hell no. After being told that we were dissatisfied she kept sitting like oh well. NO ONE APOLOGIZED TO THEM AND THEN THEY CHARGED THEM FOR THEIR DRINKS. And on top of that, THE FOOD WAS NOT THAT GOOD. Very bland, no seasoning. Last strike. I would not recommend Davis Wayne's until it comes under new management. read more

If you like overpaying for cheap food and awful customer service you might like the place. We had 4 people in our party. Guest 1 had Parmesan chicken. Chicken was very dry and very bland. Tasted like they took a plain frozen chicken breast out of the freezer and heated it in the microwave. Guest 2 ordered the pork chop which was also very dry and over cooked. He asked for any type of bread other than cornbread. After getting his meal and no bread we asked for it only to be informed that cornbread was all they had. My wife had the jerk pork tenderloin It wasn't terrible. I had the pot roast. Although it was tasty, it was just meat, no potatoes carrots or onions. It was also a child's portion. When I asked the server about the small portion he just shrugged it off. I also had to eat my entire meal with an empty tea glass sitting in front of me. The vegetables we had were nothing to write home about. Green beans were just canned green beans. Fried corn was just canned whole kernel corn. I don't usually write reviews unless it is something extremely good or extremely bad. In this case I thought the whole experience was awful and needed to be shared. Will not revisit this establishment and hope it gets replaced with something better soon read more
