I had seen this place and finally decided to try it out and took my dad. We ordered the pot roast, fried corn and collards, the food was exceptional, the price very reasonable. The ambiance was very comfortable as well. Really enjoyed the music but it was a little too loud, which made it was hard to have a conversation read more

I don't have the words to thank the Davis Wayne's crew enough. They took a semblance of a vision and gave it life. They literally made our 25th anniversary vow renewal absolutely perfect. The timing on getting food out was excellently done to take place right after the ceremony. The decorations were so beautiful and detailed. Everything was cohesive and exuded loving care. read more

Davis Wayne's - Booze - Soul Food Near Me - Ooltewah, Tennessee

I could hardly wait to write this review! After reading and hearing so much about Davis Wayne's from my sister and her husband, my family and I recently had the privilege of dining-in for my mother's birthday celebration. We had an AMAZING experience! First off, the Ambiance: If you are looking to partake in traditional soul food with a superior, healthy twist, in a sanitized atmosphere of sophistication and modern décor, this is the hippest spot in Chattanooga in which to do so! Second, the Service: There were seven in our party, and we all felt special and attended to. Our beverages were regularly replenished, and we were consistently asked if there was anything else needed. All of this was presented to us with a smile. Third, THE FOOD: Now, here's the most crucial part. Our food arrived to our table FRESH and HOT. We were all served at the same time, and everything was delicious. We tried everything from the pot roast to the pork chops. And the vegetables, which contain no meat and no MSG, truly stood out. And I mean ALL of them! As if the ambiance, service, and food weren't enough, owner and chef Cynthia, appeared at our table to personally welcome us and inquire regarding our dining experience. She offered to cut the birthday cake which we brought in ourselves and even provided dessert chinaware for the birthday celebration. If you are ever anywhere near Chattanooga, Davis Wayne's is a MUST DO! You will never forget it! Thanks Cynthia and Antonia for a job well done! read more

If you haven't visited yet, please do! We loved our experience. It was busy but we did not wait for a table. Service was great and everyone was friendly. My husband and I both ordered the specials (salmon and steak) and we waited a bit for our order, but they were cooked to order. Food was delicious. I haven't had pintos that good since my grandma died, and cornbread was fantastic. We will go back. read more

This was one of the best dining experiences we have had. Food was great!! I got pot roast and my husband got the pork tenderloin. Both were delicious! The mac and cheese was to die for! Our server was great and we had several workers who came to greet us who seemed like family. There was music and he was great. I highly recommend this place for food, drink, atmosphere and service! read more

The food was excellent!! The entire staff including the managers were friendly, managers walked around greeted guests and ensured everything was ok. I enjoyed the atmosphere and a bonus was the live entertainment. We will be back when we visit my sister read more

Food was great. After my wedding we headed there. We had a reasonable crowd with us not to big but the wait time on the food was horrific. Nevertheless food was good. Some ppl who came with us left because they got their food almost two hrs later read more

If you enjoy home cooked food or are a millennial or open-minded family person (gasp!) looking for a great place to come and chill, get together with family or just enjoy this amazing warm atmosphere COME HERE. This is my new go to in Ooltewah, seriously the corn bread is to die for and I don't even like corn bread. Another thing, all of their sides are vegetarian. This is a big deal for anyone who loves collard greens, green beans, corn, etc but can't find a soul version without meat. They're also CHEAP! You get 4 sides for $10 and the sides FILL YOU UP! literally left with a doggy bag. They have a happy hour as well. Also, if you are alone and want extra quick service or even with a few friends, the bar is FAST. Once you've come in it's like your family the next time; they know you all by name and look forward to your visit. Probably some of the best collard greens I've ever even when I did eat meat. Their music is spot on and just an amazing place to eat. We will be back as soon as we can. read more

The food was mediocre and the customer service was awful. However they were nice but the attention to detail wasn't there. They was more worried about the party outside and didn't know where people were sitting or how to make drinks. I had asked for another beer several times and never got it even tho I spoke directly to somebody. All in all I liked the atmosphere but I felt like nobody knew what was going on and were always arguing with each other. I hope they get better they have potential.b read more

This is a hidden gem in Ooltewah, TN. The exterior and interior is inviting and beautiful. The staff is friendly and one of owners, Antonia, took the time to share the history of the name and explain the family photos. The menu is simple so it doesn't overwhelm you. Pricing is determined by the number of sides you order. The food: I ordered the Parmesan chicken, oven roasted potatoes, and collards. The chicken was so tender and moist I didn't need a knife to cut it. The Parmesan coating was not the dry mealy one I was expecting. Not sure was kind of wizardry was involved but it worked beautifully! The food was seasoned just right, didn't even use additional salt and pepper. Hubby had the jerk pork with pineapple habanero sauce. I caught him trying to scrape the last bits sauce off the plate. He even ate the cornbread. The key lime pie was cold and with the right amount of sweetness. You can tell there were no boxes or cans used for food. They have brunch buffet every other Saturday so we will return. read more

We walked in here when another restaurant in the area showed they didn't take reservations on their website, but were reservation only when we arrived. This turned out to be a very happy thing! We both ordered the steak special and it was fantastic. The waiter suggested the fried corn as a side and I have NEVER had a corn dish that was as good as this. Super friendly people and wonderful service. We will be back many times. read more

We've been wanting to try this place for awhile. Due to it being Valentine's weekend and Covid still going on, we decided to get takeout. The process was easy and the staff was super friendly. It was relatively busy but I saw Covid precautions in place and we'll definitely be going back in person another day. We ordered pot roast and selection of vegetable sides. Everything was delicious but the green beans were superb! read more

We were so impressed with this restaurant. Driving through Tennessee we stopped in Ooltewah to pump gas and get a bite to eat. In a town with infinite fast food options, we were happy to find a sit-down, family owned joint. The staff was friendly AF and treated us like family. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the stories the bartender told and her great entree recommendations. I had the pot roast with collard greens and my husband had pork loin with two sides I can't remember. (I was too busy scarfing mine down). The pricing was right, even a little low for the quality. Live music was a bonus; acoustic guitar, beats and vocals set a great atmosphere without overpowering the room. Davis Wayne's has us wishing we live in Ooltewah. Next time through we will definitely be back. read more

They brought everyone's food out and then at that particular time they told one single person at our table they were out of whatever dish they ordered. Okayyyy? The overall order took quite some time to initially come out so the one guy at our table had to decide whether to order something else or scrap dinner all together. Really bad folks just don't go here. I didn't find the food anything more than 3 stars - pretty basic home cooking style stuff that was nothing special. But the service being so poor, I can't say I'll ever go back. read more

The food and the service is ALWAYS GOOD. The environment is like home and the people look me and I love to see my people do good!

At first glance, this place is really nice! Nicely furnished, it would appear, and has the potential to be upscale. Once inside, we took a seat at the bar and ordered beverages. The staff are a bit coarse, wearing sweat clothes and ball caps. Our bartender even spent a good amount of time on a personal phone call while serving us. The prices and atmosphere would suggest a level of service and professionalism not found at this restaurant. I ordered the bratwurst, which was good! Johnsonville is one of my favorites, and the bun was good as well. The potatoes and onions were burnt, or at least the onions were. My friend ordered the jerk pork. It too was good but not great. All in all, there is definitely unrealized potential here, but without a fairly substantial revamp, I could not recommend eating here. read more

Nice setting and nice server. The food was very bland and uninteresting and I had very dry chicken We had to ask for S/P, butter etc as nothing was on the table. I agree with another post that Countryside in Ooltewah food is much better (flavorful) and you get much more for your money. Will, sadly, not be returning. read more

One star only because there isn't a no star. Horrible experience. We were greeted, party of 4, at 6:25 and seated immediately. Restaurant was about 60% occupied. Drink orders were taken quickly, 2 tap beers one mixed drink and a water. Beers came out about 5 minutes later, mixed drink another 5 minutes then the water. Took over 10 minutes to get a glass of water??? At that point the server asked if she should bring everyone water. Um, yeah, you should. Order was taken, keep in mind we arrived early for dinner in this area. Things get busy after 7. We ordered pot roast 2, and parm chicken 2. And the sides. After about another 15 minutes the server came out and said they were out of pot roast what else would we like. We both went with the pork. Yup, 10 minutes later, "sorry, we just ran out of ethe pork, what else do you want?" Ordered another. After another 10 minutes or so they brought out Two of our meals. Then, a few minutes later, one more and we were told they would have the fourth out in a minute as they ran out of roasted fingerling potatoes and were roasting more. 8 minutes later, our food now Ice cold, they had a kitchen employee bring out the fourth plate. Just say it down and walked away. No "I'm sorry for your wait" or anything. Keep in mind our drinks have been empty for over 40 minutes. The potatoes were waiting on were not the roasted fingerlings yet the simply cubed up some of the potatoes they use for mashing, boiled spuds, and served that instead. I asked for a manager, now our an hour into the deal and she came over and spoke. I told her the experience was worse than poor and she said yeah, I understand. We left, and hour and 15 minutes after arriving, without eating as all the other plates were cold. Now, at this time people were waiting out the door. They were still taking orders, as we were leaving for pot roast and pork roast and servers were not telling them they were out. WOW Never again. Very sad to see such a poor experience in such a great area.! read more

Cafeteria food....that's the best description for our meal, except waiting 40 minutes from ordering to eating. I don't mind cafeteria food sometimes, but the wait was frustrating. Everyone around us was waiting too, and we were the last to sit down. The servers were very nice , nice room. Don't think we will return. read more

A couple of friends and I had lunch at Davis Wayne's today. We were greeted and drink orders taken quickly, our food orders taken when we were ready. I chose the veggie plate (choice of four sides, not all of which are actually veggies). I selected Brussels sprouts, mixed Southern greens, and fried corn - all absolutely delicious. However, the sweet potato casserole, while tasty, was just mashed sweet potatoes (not even well mashed) with some toasted mini marshmallows on top - not at all what I expected based on my past wonderful experiences with sweet potato casseroles. Also, they were out of a couple of the sides listed on the menu - not a big deal, but two that seemed very basic and should be readily available at opening time, pinto beans and pasta salad. Another odd thing is that bread isn't served with the meal, but even stranger is that you can order cornbread - as a side! That means a piece of cornbread, which my friend ordered and said she would not recommend, costs $2.50 if you consider it as one of your four veggie choices (four for $10). That's some very pricey cornbread, especially if it isn't very good! There were only a few customers at the restaurant when we arrived, but it filled up, with people even waiting for tables to open up, before we left. This may be why we had to wait longer than I expected for our food - mostly the kinds of things already prepared in bulk and just needing to be plated - to arrive. Perhaps that also explains why our drinks were only refilled when the owner walked up to us to see how we liked our food, and I asked if I could please get more water. (I'd been out for a while, but I hadn't been able to get our waitress's attention. She was doing her best, but just had too many people to serve efficiently.) The number of people waiting for tables may also explain why we weren't asked if we wanted to order dessert, something I almost never do but was considering (or it was just my weight-watching fairy looking out for my best interests!). All things considered, Davis Wayne's was worth trying, but I think Countryside - also in the Ooltewah area - is just as good, possibly better, and has a larger selection, fast service, servers who keep your drinks refilled, the best desserts in town, and better prices. read more

You really need to try this place! We went on a Saturday around 12:30. They weren't busy and we ordered and had our food within 10 minutes. Found the place on a random search of places near Heaven and Ale but ohh so glad I did. Super Cool vibe. Good tunes. Really Fun nice cocktails. Awesomely nice owner and staff. I truly enjoyed myself. The food is really good and the chocolate cake is awesome. Im very particular about my food, cleanness and decor. It's very clean and the decor is beautiful which makes the meal even better. I love the atmosphere. My husband had the pot roast. He took one bite and his eyes got so big and said this is so good and tender. I had the parmesan crusted chicken. It had so much flavor. The waitress was great and wait time isn't bad at all. Also, the owner has an absolutely fabulous area for parties. It's also beautifully decorated. read more

It's basically a meat and three. Food is ok if you like meat and threes. Atmosphere is ok. Great location in Cambridge. Parking easy.

The atmosphere was great. The staff was friendly, attentive and the food was awesome. One of Chattanooga's best kept secrets!!

Food and atmosphere was great. Had to wait nearly an hour for two meals but the food was made with love and care with fresh ingredients.

Let me start by saying I NEVER review places. (Shame on me). However I saw the reviews for Davis Wayne's and HAD to. Also, most of the reviews were given during their start up, so there is bound to be some differences in performance as the staff was still trying to gauge how long it would take to make their dishes quickly but maintain their freshness. I came here for a birthday dinner with my family a few nights ago, but I was nervous because of the Yelp reviews. Upon eating at Davis Wayne's I realized the reviews were very misleading because this restaurant was phenomenal! We were sat immediately around 6:15 pm, and we had about 11 people in our group. Drinks orders were taken upon sitting and menus were handed out. We all received our drinks quickly and were given a minute to look over the menu. The atmosphere felt warm, and the photos on the walls were endearing given that it is a family-owned business! Our server warned us that it may take a little while since they make everything fresh. We did not complain, and it took maybe 15 to 20 minutes for us to get our food. We were not disappointed! The pinto beans are AMAZING and definitely not your typical beans poured out of a can. They were smokey and full of flavor as was the rest of the food. I'm starting to think people's taste buds are broken if they think the food was anything close to cafeteria food. The macaroni was definitely home-made. The spices in the collard greens were perfect, and as a personal hater of cornbread, theirs made me rethink cornbread as a whole. It wasn't dry like most, and it had a sweet/fluffy taste and feel to it. The menu says that cornbread is a side that can be chosen in the place of another side, but the server told us that it's included for everyone at the table regardless. So instead of just getting 4 sides, (veggies) you actually get 5 (veggies + cornbread)! Overall, I absolutely loved this restaurant. Definitely give it a chance and support your locals. This place does not sell your typical Cracker Barrel food. It's authentic, and the staff is incredibly delightful. They were attentive and upbeat which made the experience there all the better! read more

I really like the food and the service. The pot roast was moist, cornbread is awesome, sweet potato casserole was great. My only complaint, and it happened the first time we went is that they do not bring everyone's food at the same time. I don't know if this has to do with separate tickets or what but it sucks to have half the table eating and the other half staring at you. If they fixed that I'd give them a 5. read more

For a new location, this will likely become a regular. I went twice this week and found the meal to be remarkably good. I hope I don't offend the owners, but the great part was it was not fancy. The pot roast was excellent. It was a a perfect tenderness and seasoned remarkably well. I love A1 and used it, but even without it was great. The oven roasted chicken was huge, moist and delicious. Love the green beans and carrots. Okay, another bonus, they were reasonable on the draft beer price. Nice selection as well. Bells Octoberfest is worth trying. Looking forward to working down this menu! read more
