From their builder recommendations that all reported issues won't be worked to the pictures of the kitchen sink shown in the provided pictures where you might get stabbed by nails. They also do not have any of the flooring they installed and their vendor discontinued it so I have to use different flooring to replace my carpet. I bought my new DW home 5 years ago based on their so called "stellar reputation" and have nothing but problems since! A/C not able to keep my house cool in the summer. They have sent the installers over and over and it still will not get lower than 76 degrees during the summer. My KB home was bigger than this home and I never had any issues keeping it cool during the summer. I have cracks in my ceiling, Corners that are not 90 degrees, and most recently, this week, my garage door opener decided to break the top panel when closing! I saw another DW homeowner post a picture on here with the exact same issue! DW answer, you need to do maintenance every year! How ridiculous is this! 12 years I lived in my KB home and never had to do any maintenance on my garage doors! My parents have lived over 30 years in their home and never done maintenance on their garage door! Not to mention these cheap Electrolux appliances that go out after the year warranty expires! My microwave you can even read the panel any longer, the knob on my stove broke, the hood range buttons broke off! I will never buy another David Weekley home ever again! As soon as I get all of this stuff repaired, I am seriously thinking about putting up for sale and buying from a different builder, one who stands by their products! Working with Ms. Triva with David Weekley was a game changer and truly the only reason we made it to the finish line in our home buying journey. As first time home buyers the process would have been scary, unknown, and complex. Ms. Triva showed us full dedication from assisting us in finding our perfect house, to explaining the ins and outs of the contracts, and went above and beyond in the actual purchase process. Not once did she falter or hesitate, and was incredible and remarkable in assisting and advising us throughout the whole entire undertaking. There was never a time Ms. Triva said "that's not my job". She took the time to understand our needs and preferences, and we were treated like VIPs. For us her professionalism and her guidance was truly unmatched, and her deep knowledge of the process put us at ease. David Weekley Homes are truly beautiful, but in reality it was Ms. Triva who made the difference. She was always available to answer our questions, provide guidance, and negotiate on our behalf. If you're considering building your new home with David Weekley, get all your communications on record and have a lawyer ready. During the build process with DW, we were repeatedly lied to and misled. Changing the stories at the last minute had become so predictable, the only explanation is that keeping the customer ill-informed and off-balance was their deliberate strategy. "The new build process" is a term referred to often. It means the builder dictates what happens during the process and will ignore the customer's concerns. On one hand, crucial information was withheld from the customers during the decision-making process; on the other hand, the sales rep continues to pressure with price hikes and penalties to meet their arbitrary deadlines. The sales representative, who called himself the "gatekeeper" of all communications, repeatedly "misspoke" and was not accountable for all the back-tracking. Contact information for the foreman and the project manager was useless because they never called back. When issues arise, they ignore and deny. When the problem becomes too big to ignore, they move up the deadline so the issue "expires". It just didn't matter how much "due diligence" we did. The sample of the contract wasn't available until the day before the signing, which was pushed two weeks ahead of schedule. At the signing, we were presented with major decisions to make on the spot, after being reassured that there would be no surprises. More than 90% of the masonry samples were suddenly discontinued, options and prices for design upgrades were not available. Basically, we signed one-sided a contract not knowing the final price of the house. Included in one of our upgrades was supposed to be a stone archway. When we received the architectural rendering the stone archway was not included. The salesperson first denied, then admitted "misspoke" on his part. No one from DW cared to correct the misrepresentation. On the construction site, a dirty pool of water that turned into a mosquito breeding ground took three months to drain. Soda cans and plastic bottles stuck inside the walls, moldy lumber, wavy trims, misplaced outlets were just a preview of the series of disasters that forced us to terminate the contract. The final straw came when DW used an inexperienced and unskilled crew to build our exterior walls. Instead of mixed stone, we got patches of the same colors and there was not a straight line in the brickwork, --horizontally or vertically. When we brought up our concern, first the foreman insisted that the contractors were doing an "excellent job," then the sales representative argued that the lines were not supposed to be straight. Finally, DW's "master mason" declared the build quality was unacceptable and portions of the exterior walls needed to be rebuilt. Right after DW admitted that we were "definitely not getting what we paid for," the sales representative announced that we were closing in 35 days. We have been told all along that there will be a 50-60 day notice. Again, he lied. He screamed at us and call us condescending when we insisted that we'll only close on the house until it passes inspection. While we rushed to secure funding, DW moved up the closing date and the same crew continued to lay crooked bricks. Not only was our request for inspection and repair before closing was denied, we were threatened with the penalty for delayed closing. DW admitted that the bricks were poorly laid but insisted that the house will be "finished" before closing. At this point, we have completely lost the trust of the builder and hired a lawyer to terminate the contract. DW took our earnest money and demonstrated time and again the disregard of their integrity and build quality. We were lied to and cheated and had to threaten arbitration to recover most of our earnest money. We will definitely not recommend DW to our family and friend, --or anyone. We dealt with Jayson Train who I felt was personable, knowledgeable and set expectation perfectly. He helped us find the floor plan, modify it to our needs , and gave good advice on what finishes to use . Once building started it went quickly, and they were open to feedback and suggestions . I just received an email that told me "there is no need to threaten." All I want is my issue resolved. I do love my house and there are a lot of great things about the DW experience. However, my dining room window began leaking not even six months after moving in. Initially, the DW warranty team was quite responsive. They sealed the window, returned the cosmetics back to normal and told me that if it happened again to contact them to come back. I sent an email to the warranty department on 1/20/21. The service professional showed up at my home without any prior notification. My spouse was informed that "someone" would be by to test the window for leaks. Fast forward to present (March 2021). For full disclosure, I added to my email "do not test me". I was told not to threaten them and that I was told to monitor the leak and contact them, which was not the case AT ALL. I just want some accountability and the issue resolved. So, I give David Weekly Warranty a big F. FAIL. read more

Incredibly rude staff. I called to see if they had any utility information for a certain subdivision they're listed as managing or have built in the past. The woman who answered perpetually barked out short answers, and seemed extremely annoyed. She ended up finding out that David Weekly Homes actually sold off that community 5 or 6 years ago, so they no longer had that information on file. I thanked her for her time, but she interrupted me by saying, "Aha" and hanging up. Very unprofessional. The Austin branch is not super keen on following up with customers. I've been connected with both the build in Central Austin team and the build on your own lot outside of 360 team and neither have done a good job on communication. I don't know if the issue is that they're super busy, but I definitely expect more in this day of constant communication. We'll go over two months without an email response. Giving one star extra because the first time we met with the sales guy he made time to meet with us on a Sunday. I'd think after that level of investment the company would be more interested in us, though. read more

I'm embarrassed to write this because we were so badly suckered. But if it helps anyone then it is worth the egg on the face. David Weekly Austin is not a place to trust with such an important investment. We approached the build on our lot team and got the run around from 2017 thru 2019. Jayson, their sales agent, intercepted our inquiry (2017). At first all answers were yes, pricing was good, and we began the process and got a construction loan started. As we started going thru the process Jayson began pulling back on a lot of things. He said we were getting too custom- indicated they'd be putting in a lot of fake stuff that just looked real. We expressed our concern and got a pretty nasty response back and we decided to stop the process- very unprofessional. We let the construction loan expire and moved on. Months later Jayson calls indicating that Weekly is doing a lot of custom stuff now and can do a thing we were asking for. Just months before we got a nasty gram asking about "custom" stuff. We listen to what he had to say- regrettably. We expressed concerns about our lats encounter and allowed ourselves to be regrettably reassured. We began the process again. We turned in tons of paperwork, got our loan redone, got the plans marked up, got weeks into the process, ran 1500 feet of underground utilities ourselves, cut a 1200' road in and then Jayson went cold on us. He began missing appointments, became less responsive to our calls and everything stopped. We had no idea where we were in the process, if anything was being worked on or what Jayson was doing. We started this second go March 2018. Jayson texted us that he was ready to build- in February 2019- NEARLY A YEAR LATER. What??? Our loan expired, all the paperwork was approaching a year old, and this guy says he is finally ready to build? Wow. We told him we missed our window... Foolishly we let him wander his lackadaisical self back into the picture March 2019. We renewed the loan again- paperwork that really sucks. Then headed down the path of fruitlessness with Jayson once again. We scheduled a meeting with him, he canceled late the night before- texted tomorrow is no good. After nearly 3 years Jayson hadn't even got us into the design center and now, he's canceling on us. We figured we'd get into the design center and start selecting things in his absence to try to keep the paperwork going. We showed up at Weekly office at the time of our scheduled now canceled appointment. And there was Jayson meeting with another unsuspecting couple after cancelling on us. WOW. He seemed a little embarrassed but then said some things that seemed to indicate that if WE had followed thru, we would be miles ahead already. WOW! A few more cancellations and a meeting at the site which was to get several disciplines lined up to start but went nowhere. We were back to stopped- AGAIN. So, we read Jayson the riot act. Then said we we'd be going to his office to meet with a manager or director to get things firm. We told Jayson when we would be there and that it was nonnegotiable. Be there or not- this was happening. We went to Weekly's office and were greeted by their receptionist. The same one who seemed to try and cover for Jayson when he cancelled on us to meet with that other couple. We requested she get a manager things were not going well. She disappeared. Finally, a manager did emerge. We firmly communicated the issues we were having and as the guy sat there, we realized that he didn't seem at all concerned. The "manager" pushed back and said that they had processes and we had to go thru their processes etc. not at all alarmed or concerned about the unprofessional interactions with Jayson. Then indicated that maybe we aren't the type of client Weekly looks for. WOW. Then stated that maybe the problem was us because he didn't think we were serious to build. I lit him up stating that we renewed our loan three times, installed1500' of underground utilities, cut a 1200' road in and somehow WE are perceived as not serious about building? Now we were exposed to the real problem. Weekly has no accountability! It was clear to us that the manger and receptionist had called Jayson just before meeting with us to prime their pushback. They don't do what they say they're going to do because they don't have too. What this idiot really meant to say was Weekly only build for those who are desperate enough to put up with their stupidity and if you can't do that then we don't want to deal with you. And something else very important in this exchange. We had him look up our file- and WOW the only thing in the David Weekly system were documents from 2017. WOW! Jayson had done NOTHING! We paid $5000 down! And suddenly we proved to ourselves how stupid we were letting this idiotic no-account organization leak into our lives yet again. This is a review of the "design center." My wife and I are building a David Weekley home, so we've been here a couple of times to pick out our counters, fixtures, appliances, wood, paint, etc. They have a zillion choices and everyone's very nice and helpful. They also try to help you stay in your budget and aren't constantly pushing more expensive options (of which there are many) which is nice. They are constantly offering you snacks, soda, and water. Also nice. So far it's been a good experience and we're pretty happy with the stuff we've picked out, though like I keep saying, it's hard to picture an entire kitchen full of something you've only seen in a 24 inch square (like flooring, for example). I wouldn't recommend bringing little kids, but you can--they have a room they can play in, though you have to watch them yourself, which means tag-teaming it with a spouse or not really getting to give the design stuff your full attention. It's pretty overwhelming, all the options, but they really help you narrow it down quickly. read more

We purchased a model home from DW and the home is well built and we are happy with the home. The three stars is for their follow up, or lack there of, after we purchased the home. There were some warts and missing items that needed attention and we were promised that after closing everything would be taken care of. Well three months later and a hundred emails and phone calls, nothing has been done. They talk big and mean well but forget about you as soon as the door closes on their truck. If you purchase a DW home do not close unless EVERYTHING is done and you are satisfied. read more

In 2003 I bought a 3 year older DW home with Hardiplank siding, which this year began to fail on 2 sides of the house. Hardiplank agreed to reimburse me for the replacement planks, but when the contractor went to install them, he discovered that DW had done a rotten installation. Some of the boards aren't nailed to 2x4", and there is a variation in the depth of the overlap of the boards which means the new boards can't be installed just where the faulty ones are...I have to have all of the planking on 2 sides removed and replaced at a hefty price. Other DW homes in my neighborhood are showing the same problem with Hardiplank and I'm guessing they may find the same structural issues. DW says it is a Hardiplank issue and so they are not responsible. It is a Hardiplank AND and DW issue and only one of the companies is stepping up to take responsibility and it isn't DW. BUYER BEWARE. read more

Every single David Weekley home in my neighborhood has had major foundation issues necessitating costly repairs. Every. Single. One. While I understand many parts of Texas has soft soil and foundations can be tricky when building on it, I find it troubling that not one single home has escaped these costly repairs. I purchased a David Weekley home through the affordable home program. David Weekley insisted the homes were of the same quality as their regular homes. However, since I moved in water would drip from my counters to the top of my cabinets. I didn't realize this wasn't normal until over a year later when my cabinets were showing signs of damage and I began to ask other people about it. The warranty specialists tried to act like this problem was not a problem at all. At my insistence, they sent out the counter contractor. He agreed it was a problem but tried to blame it on the cabinets not being pushed back against the wall tight enough. Then the cabinet people came out and they agreed the countertops were not cut with enough of an overhang to cover the cabinets. They took the time to show me the cabinets were installed properly. David Weekley is telling me two things at once. The first is that it is out of the warranty period so they won't do anything. The second is that there is nothing wrong with water dripping onto my cabinets after simple tasks like washing my hands or cleaning a pan in my sink. David Weekley Homes is not an honorable company that will stand behind the quality of their homes. read more

David Weekley homes promise high and delivers Low, we loved our builder but other than that the team fell sort. PM and sales were somewhat short and rude with us. When we did have issues builder wanted to help and tried but his PM shut him down at every turn. Finally we met with PM and he said we were just being to particular and childish. I am sorry but if something is, in our mind done wrong or poorly it should be fixed, I do not think sheetrock falling off the ceiling is a standard item in the construction process!!!!
