Super friendly doctor, made my child feel at ease though she was nervous. True that we had to make our appointment about 2 months in advance. But he checked out my daughter's eyes, and when nothing was wrong, he wrote her a prescription for ice cream! :) Her eyes lit up! And she got to show it to her big sister when she got home - bonus. Oh, and before leaving, he noticed that my husband had a broken blood vessel in his eye, and checked it out for him, out of pure concern and nicety. Staff was very nice too. So first lets start with the receptionist, if she deserves to have that title. She has to hate her life and takes it out on the people she comes in contact with. If you are a concerned parent calling about an issue with your child, shouldn't you receive warm, comforting service from the first interaction with the office? Not only that she charged us the wrong amount on our card, voided it, charged wrong again, then voided it and tried again. She sent our bank into a frenzy thinking it was fraud so they shut down our cards. Just retire already and make it easy. For the doc. Personality was great, medical knowledge was limited. More concerned about making clicks and whistles and giving my 12 week old a lollipop then getting to the issue. We went and saw a specialist afterwards to get real answers, and we did. My recommendation is go here if you want to waste your copay at a nicely designed office. Go somewhere else if you want to get service for your child. read more

If you need a pediatric opthamologist, Dr Sami is AMAZING! My daughter is only 5 months old and had to get strabismus surgery. I was VERY nervous about the surgery, but Dr. Sami made me feel much more comfortable. When you go in to see a doctor, in my opinion the ancillary staff is not that significant. Contrary to some of the negative comments about the professionality of his front office staff, I didn't experience that. Yes she was curt and not the happiest person, but I wadnt taking my son to see her. Dr Sami. Very professional. Friendly. Engages you from the waiting room. I took my toddler to see him 3 times for allergic conjunctivitis and astigmatism. He was very friendly and knew how to interact with my loving but vivacious toddler. He was very calm and his clinical acumen is superb. I'm conservative and I was glad he recommended a conservative approach instead of some aggressive treatments because its lucrative. We love doctor Sami, it can sometimes take a long time to get an appointment because he is so busy. There is a reason he is busy though, because he is very very good at what he does. This is a long overdue review. We have been visiting Dr. Sami since our 1st grader was 12 months old. We actually went to another pediatric ophthalmologist in OC prior to visiting Dr. Sami but were dissatisfied with the experience, so requested another referral. We've never felt the need to go elsewhere. Dr. Sami's level of expertise is second to none, he has a manner which puts kids at ease, his practice is well organized and front office staff friendly. In Feb, My 21 months son kept blinking his eyes, and we took him to Dr. Sami. We were worried about baby's reaction in front of the doctor, because we all know that babies were scared about doctor, they don't listen to the doctor's order at all, and they don't want to open their eyes to the doctor. But Dr. Sami exactly knows how to treat infant babies while he exams infant's eyes. Also, he found my baby's sympton very quickly and gave us a simple prescription. After 2 days taking medicine, my baby's sympton was gone and his eyes became normal. I will definitely go to Dr. Sami, whenever my son has any problem with his eyes in the future. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Sami. He is warm, kid friendly, thorough and very professional. My daughter has early life trauma, attachment and stress disorders. She has been complaining about her eyes so I took her to Dr. Sami. He performed a thorough examination. He found her eyes to be in perfect health with the exception of mild irritation due to allergies. He explained the allergy irritation to her and let her know that he was taking me out of the examination room to pick out medication. He led me to another room, shut the door and asked if she was stressed or having problems at school. He wanted to know why she would complain about her eyes when there isn't anything wrong with them. He asked all this not in an accusing tone but a gentle caring one. Concerned and trying to understand. I proceeded to tell him a little about her disorders. He understood and immediately knew how to proceed. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. I am very picky when it comes to doctors and their offices. This office was spotless. The cleanest doctor's office I have ever been to. The receptionist was courteous and professional. She promptly took us in as soon as we arrived for the appointment. Dr. Sami was the 4th eye doctor we saw for our five year old daughter in one week. If you have a child who needs an ophthalmologist, Dr. Sami is the one to see. We had an urgent situation and his office was able to fit us in the next day and he did surgery the following day (on a Saturday) and offered to check up on her the following day (a Sunday!). I love Dr. Sami, but his receptionist is horrible. I am trying to find a new doctor. I have had many issues with her. She never followed through on getting a referral for my daughter. I had to call and ask and she had no recollection that I called and she was supposed to get that for me. She was very rude to me and she tried to make it seem that it was my fault. I just went in yesterday for my daughter's appointment that I called and made about three weeks ago. When I went in, the receptionist said she didn't have my daughter down for an appointment. She was very rude to me. It wasn't my fault that she can't do her job. I will not go back to see this doctor. It isn't worth it when he has a receptionist like that. read more

We took my 4 month old to Dr. Sami last November for an eye problem that, at the time, was extremely worrying for us. I have no words to express what a human, kind and professional care Dr Sami provided for my daughter. He was extremely gentle with her and patient and thoughtful with me, a terrified mother who didn't know what was going on with her baby (and that can be a lot to handle). His clinical diagnostic was spot on and he was confident and assuring about it. Nowadays, some doctors would have recommended additional painful follow-up testing "just to be on the safe side", without taking into account the disturbance this is for a baby and her family. But Dr Sami put us at ease and recommended what was best for our child, not for his potential liability, like many other drs do. For any parent that is worrying about a child, being able to find such an amazing doctor is like winning the lottery. It has been 1 year since my adult strabismus surgery and I couldn't be more happy with my results. I spent 3 years going from doctor to doctor having scans and blood tests taken to find out why I started having double vision out of nowhere. I was left having to drive with an eye patch or deal with double vision when looking at objects from a distance. I was finally referred to Dr. Sami to correct my double vision. He explained everything in layman's terms and was very thorough prior to my surgery. This was my first time ever having surgery with general anesthesia but fortunately I was never scared or worried because I knew that Dr. Sami would take care of me and I trusted him completely. Shout out to his fabulous office staff, especially Araceli! Everyone there made me feel like family. I have not had any double vision since! I highly recommend anyone go here for any concerns they may have. read more

My daughter's dermatologist gave us a referral to see Dr. Sami to have him examine her due to a growth near her eye. She wanted to make sure there was no interference with the optic nerve and she raved about Dr. Sami. I'm really glad we were sent his way. First off--his office is beautiful. I get the impression they've moved there recently. It's a little difficult to find, but the inside is very clean, simple, modern, and tastefully decorated. I've noticed complaints about his receptionist, which I am totally on-board with, but this review is more for the doctor himself, and not his staff of one. Just to quickly summarize, his receptionist covers everything in the office and at times just seems in over her head because she's running around answering phones, checking in patients, answering questions, handling insurance issues, etc. all by herself. I'm guessing as a result of her stress, she tends to be short with visitors in the office and even (in my experience) over the phone. I honestly feel bad for people sometimes when I hear how she talks to them. If you have to do nothing more than check in and have nothing to discuss or take up with her, it's probably fine. But the more you have to talk to her, the more you'll feel like you're being talked down to. This is the only reason I am knocking off one star. Dr. Sami is five stars all the way, but an office visit requires interaction with his receptionist. That aside, we enjoy seeing Dr. Sami. He thoroughly examines my daughter and made notes of things that weren't even related to the growth she has in her face. He's cautious, but reassuring. He allows me to ask all the questions I want and patiently answers them all carefully. He's very patient with my daughter, who, at a very young age, does not fare well with strangers. He's fun and goofy and does what he can to get her to cooperate and relax. Even when we've resolved all the issues due to my daughter's condition, I do hope it's an option to continue seeing Dr. Sami for regular routine eye examinations even though his office is a little out of our way, I'm confident with his ability and am a fan of how he works with children. read more

Love Dr. Sami. The visits were quick, but not too quick and most always ran on time. Never had issues with receptionist, they were always very lovely. The doctor has a great manner with little ones and he is very knowledgeable. Our child has a condition most doctors know nothing about yet he was completely skilled in it beyond just his own scope of work.
