We love Dr Allevato. My kiddo has needed some extra appointments with chronic ear aches and multiple sets of ear tubes. They always get us in within 48 hours and are happy to check his ears before going into holiday weekends, or off on vacation. The care from all staff, including the NP is so compassionate and understanding- as a first time mom I've come in over anything from head bonks to random rashes and I've always been met with empathy and kindness. I will continue to bring my son here and recommend this office to all fellow moms. read more

We have been with Dr. Allevato's office since my boys were infants. My oldest is 6. We went in for a sick child visit for my oldest today, and the entire encounter prompted me to write a review because all I could keep thinking (selfishly) during the visit was, 'Please keep this incredible physician healthy. And may she never retire!" :) Dr. Allevato is kind, patient, thorough, and most of all incredibly knowledgeable. She will never rush to over-prescribe antibiotics. She is thoughtful in her approach to care, and always reassuring. She adheres to evidence-based practice, which is such a relief. Her practice is busy because she is wonderful. The two NPs working there, Jessica and Laura, are also fantastic. The staff in her office are so kind. Six years later, it's the same faces - which tells you everything about how Dr. Allevato treats people. I just feel so lucky my children are under her care. We started going this office when we moved to the OC. Mdoesn't matter if you show up 15 minutes early for your appointment. We always had to wait. The wait was always 45 minutes. 15-20 outside and another 15-30 minutes inside of the room. We recently asked for a copy of the records since we decided to switch pediatricians and in looking over the notes, it was disturbing that in the notes for an exam that was needed they would put "not done mom had to go, she states is not concern about her vision. ". For the Audiometry Screening the comments were "Mom had to go had to be somewhere at ." The above is a complete lie. My wife did make a comment that she had somewhere else to be after she had to wait 45 minutes!!! Heaven forbid that someone doesn't assume that their appointment will be delayed 45 minutes. Let's say that what they listed was semi true, they could have rescheduled. They could have listed that a follow up appointment was offered and mom declined it. But they didn't. This just goes to show the lack of interest. She obviously has a successful and established business and probably doesn't need anymore patients but Be on time. If your other appointments are late, make them wait or don't schedule so many patients at the same time if the level of service is going to be so low. The staff was kind. Dr. Allevato was always in a massive rush. If for some reason she wasn't, she sounded like she was. It always made us feel uncomfortable. There was an instance when my wife called the weekend nurse hotline because my daugter was struggling with something. The nurse hotline said "we will call you back." Dr. Allevato called back and her exact words were "why did you have me call you." My wife ( a well spoken, educated lawyer) was blown away and informed her that she didn't ask for the doctor to call her back. She informed the doctor that she had called about a question and was told that they would call her back. I was there, I heard the call. No change in voice from the doctor or even an apology. Instead her comment was "well I need to talk to them about that." We knew that we were done with her at that point. My wife also called twice to ask for a neuropsychologist recommendation. The doctor couldn't give a or a few recommendations. This wasn't that big of a deal but still, you have to know of some from ALL of the clients that you have. If you're a parent that just needs a doctor to give your kids all the vaccines that are now required in America, do the basic check ups and be linked to CHOC, this place might be for you. We are the type of parents that have questions. We always ask a lot of questions. We do our own research as well and even look into whatever answers we are given. We don't trust the FDA, CDC or other agencies 100%. We didn't go to med school so we didn't master what drugs and medicines to give everyone. But we are not the type of parents to skip any exam for our children. We are the type of parents that focus on the gut health of our kids, their diet, their environments , the amount of radiation found in things around us. We try to grow most of our own fruits and vegetables. We are not the type of parents that would ever say, imply or accept a statement that we aren't "concerned about her vision." I even got to visit the office a few times. I was always highly disappointed in her customer service and demeanor. I always felt rushed and if I ever went to ask "how much longer," the response from the doctor always made me feel more uncomfortable. This is a long overdue review that I've been meaning to write to thank Dr. Allevato. We feel incredibly fortunate to have had Dr. Allevato as our daughter's pediatrician. She treated our little girl with so much care, respect, and love, despite our little girl's rare genetic disorder and medical challenges. When we brought our daughter home from the NICU, she provided reassurance to make us feel calm and guidance that made our daily routines easier. Dr. Allevato always listened patiently to our concerns and questions, never making us feel rushed. She was very accommodating during every visit, which was so important since our daughter required extra care. Barbara who is the office staff and the nurse was also amazing. She went above and beyond to help by calling our insurance and working through all the red tape to get us the information we needed and the approvals required for our daughter's care. After we lost our daughter, Dr. Allevato went out of her way to call me personally to express her heartbreak. That small act meant so much and showed us how deeply she cared for every little patient. We've been Dr. Allevato's patients for over 8 years. Dr. Allevato and her entire team are absolutely amazing and I will not trust my childrens' care to anyone else. The office is always clean and everyone is friendly and carrying. We moved and now the office is at least 1 hour away from us, but we will not go anywhere else. We tried different urgent cares closer to us and looked into different practices, but nothing came even close to Dr. Allevato's care. My kids look forward to their appointments. And sometimes my oldest daughter even asks to go see Dr. Allevato and staff just because she misses them. Whenever we have urgent health concerns Dr. Allevato would see us right away. A few times we had health concerns over the weekend and the doctor returned our calls and was able to help. Also, we were happy with all of the referrals to the specialists throughout the years. I have been taking my son, who has Autism, to Dr. Allevato since he was about 5 years old. My son has had a lot of health issues and we have always been treated with kindness and compassion. He is attached to her as a doctor. He's now 17 and 6 months away from aging out of pediatric care. It bothers him that he has to try to trust a new doctor. She has been absolutely wonderful with him. I am saddened to say my kids no longer go to Dr. Allevato because I'm now with Kaiser. I dont even have enough time or words to express how lucky I was to find such a beautiful group that cared soooo much for my kids. We first meet Dr. Allevato in the hospital when my son Jacob was born. Before even coming in the room she spoke to my OBGYN because I had some complications that might affect the baby ,and once in the room with us she was kind and stayed with us a long time. Since my son was preterm he got jaundice and she requested a light therapy mat for my son, since they didnt answer she checked him into choc hospital immediately . After the ordeal the girls in the office were so caring and loving to the point my kids loved going to the doctor. Thank you all for making my kids experience the best and always providing a positive experience even when shots were given. For those complaining about not seeing Dr Allevato in all appointments: Yes if you schedule last minute you might not see her, but she is soo great that everyone wants her so schedule with time. We love Dr. Allevato! I was very nervous when delivering my son because I didn't have a trusted pediatrician. Dr. Allevato was on a list of doctors at the hospital and I reluctantly chose one "just for now." Bow was I in for a surprise! She came to see us while we were still in the hospital and she was a JOY to be around. She made us feel so comfortable that we quickly fell in love with her and couldn't imagine seeing anybody else. My son had respiratory issues very often and Dr. Allevato was always available to help us...she made sure we had enough "inhaler" treatment on hand, so that we could start it as soon as symptoms occurred and before we could see her in the morning. The office staff is also very sweet and it is nice to see that they don't change and the same sweet medical assistant from when my son was a baby is still there. Honestly, we love to visit and catch up with them ;) We moved away from Orange County for a year and couldn't come see Dr. Allevato and we missed her office so much! We bounced around medical groups and doctors we didn't quite connect with. Very happy to be back in Huntington Beach and zero second thoughts about making the drive to Orange, because she is truly the best! When we moved from NYC when my baby was just 6 months old, we were very nervous about finding a good doctor for our baby girl. Luckily, my sister has been taking her two kids to Dr. Allevato since they were born, so we took her recommendation and we are so glad we did! Dr. Allevato is so extremely kind and patient and she's a true expert. She always correctly diagnoses our daughter, who is now 22 months, with what's going on with her, even before all of the symptoms are present. At daycare, our daughter picked up Roseola and we were so distraught with her super high fever. One look at her, and Dr. Allevato told us she was very confident that it was Roseola, and sure enough, two days later, she broke out in the rash to confirm this was the case. She's also full of great tips for tricky kids - from getting them to taking medication, to making sure they stay hydrated (thank you pedialyte popsicles!) As first time parents, we probably ask more questions than most, but Dr. Allevato always listens and assures us of the exact right steps to make our baby girl comfortable and heal quickly. More than once, we have had to reach Dr. Allevato past regular hours, and every time, she has given us a call back within minutes. We love her so much that we commute from Huntington Beach and it's absolutely worth the drive!! The cherry on top is the staff - they are always warm, welcoming, and super gentle. Due to all the questions I'm getting , I wanted to shed some light on my past review. There are multiple doctors in office and they tend to 'share' patients. My son got along with one of the physician's but constantly got handed off to another doctor. No big deal if you don't care what Doctor see's your child. read more

We are lucky to have Dr. Allevato as our pediatrician! She was recommended by a physician friend I worked with while I was pregnant, and I am so happy I listened! She is super knowledgeable, straightforward, authentic and generous with her time. She never rushes us through our appointments but takes time to listen to every concern or question I have. She is so funny and kind with my son. He actually LOVES going to their office!! The entire staff, Barbara, the Medical Assistants (they are the sweetest), and Jessica the NP- everyone, is so sweet and make it such a pleasant experience for us to go in. The exam rooms are bright with lots of fun colors, and paintings on the walls and toys to keep the kids busy while they wait. Cairo absolutely loves his time at the "doctors office", sounds crazy but it's true!! I feel sooooo blessed to have found a doctor like Dr. Allevato! She's truly God sent! There are not many professionals like her anymore. Glad she was taking new patients. We LOVE Dr. Allevato! Our daughter has been going to her from birth through now (she is 18 months) and we always have a great experience. The office staff is friendly and helpful. Dr. Allevato is so personable and you just know she genuinely cares about your child and your family. The nurses are the same! Our daughter had colic and Dr. Allevato was EXTREMELY patient with us as first time parents when we were freaking out because of the colic and lack of sleep. Dr. Allevato came referred to us 5 years ago when I was in search of a new Pediatric Physician to replace our first Doctor. For a variety of reasons, including ignorance to concerns regarding my Sons development and general health, we left Dr. Jeffrey Taylor's (Costa Mesa) practice. Since, we now have four children and couldn't be more happy with any other Doctor! Dr. Allevato was a breath of fresh air with an open mind and has a compassionate, informative bed side manner. At a time when I questioned the health of my Son and embarked on his delays, Dr. Allevato was intuitive and help guide me in the right direction. Early on, we discovered that our Son had Autism. Dr. Allevato herself has a family member with the condition and always spends quality time with me discussing concerns. She never fussed when I requested to spread out immunizations for our second born child in respect to the immunization-autism debate (which has proven to have NO scientific correlation yet). Dr. Allevato has been quick to respond to some medical concerns, which has led to the discovery of GERD and Esophagitis with our oldest child. She has never doubted me, which is so important! I Honestly believe that if the norm was like the old days, she'd come to your home to provide care. Don't get excited because this is not Little house on the Prairie ( you older folks will remember), She doesn't do that. LOL! Seriously speaking, you are truly lucky to be a patient in this office. Even more so now that she recently re-opened her practice to new patients. The staff is always accommodating, friendly and they have all been there for years. Additionally, The office has a part time Physician, Dr. Lynette Sequeira who is equally fabulous and is as fierce as a tiger! I mean this in a good way as she herself is very attentive and caring. She spends the rest of her time at the St. Joseph Pediatric Emergency ward. Clearly, the passion of this office is to provide good care to children. The Doctors and staff themselves, are Mothers! In a day and age where everything is rushed and impersonal, this office exceeds my expectations for quality service. They never over book and run on time for the most part. From our first visit in her office when my 1 st child was a newborn we were given a blue booklet which is so informative. From fevers to coughs to first foods to rashes. When my husband and I have a question we always refer to this and it is so incredibly helpful. The minute you walk in to her office you are greeted by Barbara who is wonderful. The nurses are amazing and so nurturing to the little ones. They make them real right at home. Dr Allevato is so easy to talk to and answers all of your questions. I was super disappointed to find out that this office does not accept HMO insurance. The receptionist was not rude but she was not helpful or personable either. Maybe they are busy but you still should have some sense of people skills. I had read that they accept ST. Joseph's patients first. Nothing mentioned about what kind of insurance. You are dealing with new time moms and the least they could do is have a little bit more to say than short one word answers. No explanation was given as to why my insurance is not accepted. It was quite awkward. I'm very disappointed on how it was handled. read more

I think she is a good doctor, but there were a few mistakes that have been weighing on me that I thought I'd share in case it helps someone. My daughter saw Dr. Allevato from birth till about 1.5 years. Dr. Allevato was great when it came to my daughter's colds and ear infections. However, I was not instructed on how/what to feed my growing girl (in terms of feeding solids, she was a breast-fed baby and nursed on schedule and on demand) and the nurses did not catch her weight drop between 6-12 months. At six months, she was 90th percentile weight. At 9 months, she was 30th percentile. I was told this is normal due to her crawling. At 12 months she was 10th percentile. Additionally, when she was weighed by the nurses at 12 months, they did not mention any problem. When I brought her in a bit later because of a cough (after the 12 month appointment), another doctor noted the weight issue. I started feeding her better and more and she was fine. That is my only real complaint. Another note (though not necessarily a complaint, just a heads up), she has a strong personality. She talks fast and prefers you to wait till the end for your questions, i.e. don't interrupt her (she will say, "wait till I'm finished."). She is knowledgeable, so if you like the quick, cut-to-the chase, matter-of-fact type, you won't mind. It always annoyed me personally. read more
