Great visit today, had an allergy test with Dr Levy. Found out am no longer allergic to penicillin! Didn't take too long, very good experience. Dr Levy is a very funny guy and made the visit fun. Can't imagine why anyone would give less than 4 stars, let alone complain. If you're referred to Dr Levy, believe me you'll be in good hands and not just another Dr visit. In my year of dealing with an injury I gotta say, I've seen many Dr in this journey to recover and Dr Levy is in my Top 3! Office staff is also very friendly and welcoming. read more

First off, it's almost impossible to get through to anyone in this office when you're calling by phone. If they're on the phone with someone else, it automatically hangs up on you and makes you call again. The first time I tried calling their office, it took 6 tries before I actually got to talk to the receptionist. And let me tell you, she is a character. The receptionist is extremely sarcastic when she talks to you and she cuts you off mid sentence. I've called on two separate occasions and both times have been the same. She may think she's being nice but it's very condescending. According to my husband, Dr. Levy was nice and professional, but wasn't able to help my husband with his health concern and ended up referring him to an out of network rheumatologist (even though we got referred to Dr. Levy through providence), so I had to call back to get the receptionist to fax over the visit notes to a Providence office in order to continue my husband's care. While on the phone with the receptionist, she said "what am I doing with this" and I responded "the visit notes need to be faxed" and she said "I'm not talking to you". So while she's on the phone with me, she's having a side conversation with someone else? I hope she faxed over what I needed so I don't have to attempt to call this office again. read more

Doctor Donald levy is absolutely fantastic and a first class physician/mensch. He is kind, he is patient, and he is very knowledgeable. Lisa, his receptionist was easy to work with, and scheduling was a breeze. We got the kiddo in ASAP, and she was really great when it came to informing me about cancellations as she knew I wanted to get the kid in to see levy ASAP. I am a big time WORRIER- especially when it comes to my child's health. Doctor levy was very empathetic and happy to answer any questions/queries I had regarding my kid's treatment plan. He really put my mind at ease, and I am the sort who analyzes and worries about my kiddos health. He got me to laugh at my Tsuris. Which is BIG... "an optimist laughs to forget, and a pessimist forgets to laugh" is one of my favourite life sayings, and man, he has a great sense of humor and helped me get out of Jewish mom worrier mode with some good old fashioned soul medicine (laughter). That said, I am so grateful my friend and another first class physician/mensch, Doctor Steven Abelowitz- of coastal kids, for recommending doctor levy. Steve's recs have been consistently good since day one, and when we needed an allergist, he didn't disappoint. I think we found a forever allergist for the kid. & for that, I am so grateful. Good healthcare providers, like Levy, are hard to find these days, and my child is only going to get the best care- period. No fakaktah'd baby doctors for my kid. I want the senior guy who has the knowledge and expertise to help my daughter get through her medical condition in the best and most effective/efficient way possible. Levy is the guy for allergies He IS an expert in his field, knows his stuff, his certs are tops, AND he's a pleasant and caring person. What is there not to like? If you're looking for a first class allergist for your kid, stop wasting your time. Get an appointment with Levy, pronto. You'll probably thank me later. In a reply from Dr Levy, there's a few things that he stated that were not accurate or legitimate that I wanted to address. I am not sure why I needed to get yelled at via ALL CAPITALS. If it's for effect, it wasn't effective. Allergy shots are transferable - as long as you are able to transfer the formula, since my bottles (6) were and are made by the same Allergist, all these folks need to do is follow the standard of care, any nurse can do that. Any Allergist can do that. except this Dr, apparently. :( When I get my new bottles, the initial Allergist makes up the bottles and I take them closer to home and have my shots - that works 100%. No challenges in my health or with the existing Allergist or treatment. I didn't have to ask for new formula's or anything of the sort. Just asking the Allergist's office to give me the shots with the existing. If every Allergist makes different formulations, then all they are watching for is a reaction. Have you ever heard of a MD saying - because you had a different Doctor I am refusing to continue the treatment ? If you were in the middle of, oh let's say Cancer treatment, would you say - No Chemo and Rediation for you - were going to a Paleo diet ? ( no, that shouldn't happen - said for effect :) ) And for the back story, I was on the shots and doing just fine for nearly 5 years. My mother was striken with Cancer ( not to sound dramatic ) - and I was back east for 8 months with her - and missed all those shots, and had to restart, not from scratch but several formula's back. Presently I am with an Allergist in the area, and I am using the formula that's been produced with no push back. And guess what... there's been no issue. And that Allergist is getting paid to do what his nurses do ---- take care of patients. I appreciate this Dr. covering his back side and being dogmatic. But, really... who did he hurt ? I regretfully have to agree with the earlier comments about the rude receptionist at this office. She is very condescending and tends to interrupt you. I even saw her behave this way with another patient during my first visit, and first impressions matter. As for the doctor, there weren't any significant findings on the initial visit, but I was open to continuing treatment with him. However, I decided against it after another unpleasant experience with the receptionist while trying to reschedule over the phone. Most other allergists are booked months in advance, but I was able to get an appointment here almost too quickly, which makes me think I'm not the only one deterred by their poor staff. read more

Very unhappy with the professionalism and care from this office and Dr.. I don't feel like I got the right and upmost care during my visit. I don't feel like the Dr listened to my symptoms and to what I was experiencing, he was not very attentive. He was not very informative or empathetic. Dr. Levy is the best! I first started seeing him 20+ years ago. I was suffering with life long allergies and asthma which had been getting significantly worse. Dr. Levy helped identify what I was actually allergic to and came up with a game plan that almost completely eliminated my symptoms. When my daughter started having issues, I knew exactly who to take her to. Dr. Levy is refreshing. He is genuinely a nice guy who takes the time to listen to his patients and discuss their concerns in a way that is easy to understand. I have a long history of chronic urticaria with anapalaxis and severe cu reactions and angioadema swelling to polyurethane and polyethylene. I had to find a new allergist after four years due to insurance chang. I researches dr. Levy as an option. Im honestly surprised at some at the negative reviews. He is comical (which i find is a plus wirh doctors, I have seen enough stale crackers in my life) , great bedside manner and knows his hive stuff. He answered questions and followed through with updated testing and was supportive in keeping my current plan in place as its working but saw a med im on from my primary that could potentially trigger my cu so he quickly changed that out. Im very pleased to have found another doctor to oversee the hot mess of allergies hives angioadema and anapalaxis i have had my fair share of bad doctors for my cu in the past. He can manage my xoilar self injections at home which have been working for 4 years. I have done a ton of research on my condition to ensure I understood as much as possible. I feel he respected my insights on my own personal experiences as well. Super quick check in and easy scheduling and the office staff were nice and so was the nurse. As i have said. I have had some horrible experiences with my condition and doctors managing it. He is the worst doctor in the world! I have allergy and saw him at his clinic. I was there about an hour, and he told me everything else about his life, his divorce etc but never addressed my allergy issues. Before I left, he ordered blood test to check on my allergy. Test was done and results were in a few days later and that was in August 2021. He never called me nor had his staff called me about my test results. When I did call inquired about the result no responds from Dr. Levy. I called again to ask for Dr Levy to return the call, no return calls. Eventually someone from his office called and left a message said my test is up online so I can review the test. But Dr. Levy never called. I don't know how to read the test??? Who needs this kind of doctor in this world? He should leave the profession and go home!!! read more

I came to Dr. Levy after my husband successfully completed 5 years of allergy shots. My husband was very allergic to dogs and cats and I wanted to adopt a cat. We were able to adopt a cat and my husband wasn't bothered at all even when the cat slept in our bed. I began allergy shots with Dr. Levy too after developing allergic reactions to the cat. I now am feeling great. Dr. Levy has trained many of the new allergists in the area and he is extremely knowledgeable. The staff are friendly and make getting the allergy shots easy. I saw Dr. Levy a few years back for extreme allergies to fragrances & various foods. He ended up referring me out to a "specialist" but not before telling them I was crazy which lead to that doctor telling me it was all in my head and I needed to see a behavioral psychologist. Wasn't in my head. I was diagnosed by a female doctor at USC Keck who took the time to listen and BELIEVED what I was telling her. And although there is no cure, I am able to have a better quality of life. I was getting depressed because had seen so many doctors/specialists before I was finally diagnosed. I saw Dr. Levy recently and was very impressed with his kind demeanor and great sense of humor. He listened carefully and seemed attentive to what I had to say. I have fibromyalgia and a long list of medications as well as allergies, so I knew my case was complex and going to take some time. He was patient though, and got to the root of why I came to see him: something was triggering a stabbing nerve pain in my ear and unbearable skin itching. Turns out, I was allergic to something I never would have expected and the allergy was setting off my overly sensitive nervous system. Once I removed the substance from my diet, it was an amazing, dramatic and immediate improvement! No more ear pain! I can't say enough about how wonderful it is to have a doctor like him! read more

Dr. Levy is personable, funny and to the point but not in a rude way. This year my allergies were on another level and made me want to gouge my eyes out and have a heart attack from all of the sneezing (my sisters say my when I sneeze it sounds like gunshots: loud, fast and repetitive). I found Dr. Levy on Yelp and called his office but the earliest consultation was two weeks later. The receptionist said if she had any cancellations and could get me in sooner she would do so. My consult with Dr. Levy was very brief and to the point but light-hearted and funny. I told him about my allergies and how I couldn't even look at all of the green hills because my throat would start to itch as would my eyes and I'd start sneezing repeatedly to the point where I couldn't catch my breath. I lost sleep due to nasal congestion, itchy eyes and my left eye would tear up and drain at random times. This caused me to rub my eyes a lot and thus I incurred a sty on my lower eyelid which was irritating and painful. Dr. Levy said perhaps I contracted Eyebola and I took him seriously then realized he was joking and laughed. I also mentioned I had allergic reaction to some foods (hives, vomiting) and I wanted to test for that as well. Dr. Levy discussed some options for medication with me and even mentioned Costco has a great deal on allergy meds that compared with the brand names but were much cheaper. He scheduled for my allergy test to be four days later and I was done within 30 minutes and on my way! The allergy test took about 30 minutes and took place on my back and arm. I felt my skin react within a minute to a few of the tests and Dr. Levy confirmed I'm allergic to nature. OK not exactly nature, but trees, weeds, grass and pollen. Surprisingly I had no food allergies and the vomiting I'd experienced from eating mussels was what Dr. Levy explained to be a food intolerance not a true food allergy, but just in case he did suggest a blood test to confirm this is a true food intolerance. I left with a prescription for Flonase (I was against nasal sprays until I came here and Dr. Levy assured me they're fine and how to use it) info on how I can minimize the exposure and get by this season and piece of mind! All of Dr. Levy's staff were very nice and professional and would call a day or so ahead to confirm my appointment. I'd highly recommend Dr. Levy if you want to find out what you're allergic to and like corny jokes. read more

My oldest memory is of the lights on the ceiling of the hospital hall when I was rushed in at 2 years old. I have grown up with Asthma and watched the progression of the innovations and medications over the years since then. It was not until I was in High School that my family took me in for allergy testing and I met Dr. Levy for the first time. Remember that movie where Robin Williams wears a clown nose and makes the ill children laugh thru their illness? That is Dr. Levy sans the nose part. His humor and genuine care is something that you cant find easily. Not being able to breathe is not a light subject. For many years he tried to convince me to go onto Advair or another steroid type inhaler and I resisted, I didn't like the sound of it was afraid of the medication. I used my rescue inhaler constantly. He explained to me that this was putting me at higher risk than just getting onto the proper medication. As a result, I relented to his gentle encouraging and as a result, I never use my other inhaler. I do take two puffs a day of Advair and now, I have grown up and completed 5 marathons, and I didn't need my rescue inhaler once. When I have an issue, he is always there for me and even helps to guide me when it is a non allergy issue that I have questions with. His amazing friendship has grown over the years and he is now one of my oldest friends having been his patient for 25 years. read more

Dr Levy is great!! He has a great manner that puts you right at ease. He was able to ask key questions to zero in on what he should be testing for! Especially in my case since I am older and never ever have had a food allergy! Such an excellent Doctor! His ability to diagnose my daughter's respiratory issues beyond asthma allowed her to continue/pursue her athletic dreams. Her travels to different climates often caused breathing challenges. Dr Levy took the time to work with my daughter before her travels and change of her athlete rountine, giving her the knowledge of how to adapt to the temporary changes proactively. I, along with both my parents, have been seeing Dr. Levy for over 10 years. I don't normally write Yelp reviews but after reading a couple completely inaccurate reviews about him, I felt I needed to write this. Dr. Levy is a one of a kind doctor in that he genuinely cares about his patients, which is nearly impossible to find these days. If you want a doctor that will actually take time to listen to you and figure out what's wrong with you then Levy is your doctor. He has always taken ample time with me, listening to everything I have to say in order to find the best course of treatment for me. He is up to date on all the newest research and treatment options. I suffer from chronic allergy/sinus problems and my parents both have asthma along with other secondary conditions and Dr. Levy has always been there for my entire family making sure we are well taken care of. He has even personally called us at our homes many times to check in on us and see how we are responding to treatment. I don't know of any doctors that take the time to do that anymore. Dr. Levy is a doctor you can count on to take care of you and find the best treatment option for you. He will always listen to you and you can always get a hold of him when you need him which is really important when you suffer with asthma and other related conditions. I highly recommend him! I regret to say that my care with Dr. Levy in 5 visits over 10 months has seen him be disorganized at times, and required my having to "repeat" a critical test because he doubted the results. Then after informing me of the results 3 weeks ago of the repeated test, he now refuses to order any further testing, or treatment, despite my neurosurgeon informing me I "may not survive" a routine hospital admission for a CNS shunt revision. Dr. Levy's political biases and sentiments as to his patients advocating for their own health are so extreme - that he is willing to put them in "harms way" over loyalties to others. I left my HMO the end of May 2020, and my new & more expensive plan SHOULD BE very accommodating to whatever tests or treatment are necessary. My recent diagnosis was also ignored by UCI Medical Center immunology (and rheumatology), where Dr. Levy teaches, and reflects poorly on them. One of their immunologists had even written a detailed medical report in 2018 of the need for an immunology workup. But the interests of my HMO plans and their related ruled the day. And my "denial of care" fiasco has now gone on 9 years - spanning two different HMO plans, and 4 different Orange County area medical groups. And now Dr. Levy is right in the middle of it. I do not see how anyone can call this medicine! read more

Dr Levy has treated myself and my kids for a variety of issues ranging from allergy symptoms and sinus infections to strange skin stuff that kids seem to develop from time to time. Couldn't Cure A Ham! To coin a phrase... I had chronic hives and I had tried many antihistamines and none of them seemed to help. I asked Dr. Levy for a leukotriene receptor antagonist (Singulair), which he prescribed. It seemed to make the hives worse. When I told Dr. Levy, he said "It serves your right for asking for that medication." How utterly obtuse! Dr. Levy didn't have a suggestion for an alternative medication, nor did he advise me that I could have an adverse effect. Can anyone blame me for wanting some relief from an uncomfortable, itchy rash? Isn't that the reason that I went to a Specialist in the first place? He also tells bad jokes and expects you to laugh when you are covered in hives and uncomfortable. I can only hope that Karma will prevail and someday when Dr. Levy is ill, he will find a doctor as insensitive as he, and he gets a dose of his own medicine. Wish I could have my co-payment back. Dr. Levy did not help my condition at all. Avoid! read more

He's board certified in Allergy and Immunology, so he knows his stuff, AND he has a sense of humor. The staff was professional and my appointment was right on time, with the added benefit of later hours (compared to most the medical profession). His explanations were clear and concise, and he was a pretty good listener. I'd gone for a 2nd opinion on some medical issues, and I learned once again how important that 2nd opinion is! I have been seeing Dr Levy for two years now. He is excellent! Very very personable and professional. I have suffered with allergies my whole life and have had two sinus surgeries plus my previous allergist sent me to Mayo Clinic in Az. six times..... without any positive results. After moving to Ca six years ago I found a great general Practitioner who recommended Dr. Levy. He listened to me and tried different medicines and treatment until I am feeing like a new person. We are so happy we found Dr. Levy! We did a Google search for an allergist near out new home and we found Dr. Levy. I called the office and asked a million questions about allergy shots and the lady that answered the phone was very sweet and patient and answered all of my questions. Dr. Levy makes the appointments fun and informative. I was told to get rid of my dog by a previous allergist but Dr. Levy says we can control the allergies so we can keep the dog.
