The first time I met with Dr Levy was this summer (2020). Covid was in full force and I was scared to try someplace new. However, I was very desperate to cure a bad rash on my face that two other dermatologists couldn't fix! As soon as Dr. Levy saw my situation, he was very calm and assured me that he knew what to do. Two weeks later, viola! My face is back again and I no longer have to hide anything under my face mask. Negative 100 stars rating. Levey treatment was vasoline and purified water cream for my total body itch along with a bunch of chemicals in the cream he gave me. Didn't even have time to look at it. I have had this condition for over a year!!! Told me I was allergic to oatmeal because I take oatmeal baths to soothe my itch...he declared I was allergic to oatmeal..no tests were done. I take several meds for my heart...he couldn't even test to see if there were problems with meds I must take for CHF as well as SVC syndrome. I have had this condition for over a year and no help. I thought an allergist would test me for at least my meds. He spent maybe 5 minutes wi h me and I should go back to dermatologist. I have filed a grievance with my insurance company . You want help stay away from this asshole! Still burning and itching! And my star rating would be negative 100 but they don't have that option ! And to your response. ..I said no steroids...it's too sad for you that there is a lack in your education on what to do with my skin condition. Yes you spent most of my visit on the phone with a dermatologist. ..and I might add you said Dr. Barron would call. ..no call has been made I have received no call. You are an allergist! So where can I go to get allergy test????? What a cop out...my skin can get an allergy test???? So screwed it put some vasoline on it and go home. Get some education dude. There are alternatives. ..but you are stuck in your little box and can't see any solution for me. What a cop out. Appointment setting: Friendly, warm and professional. Waitlist for early opening is offered. Office ambience/Building: Old building with lots of character. Plenty of free parking. Suite was hidden and directory map was out of sight. Restroom is out near Pharmacy... beware, dirty and moms with little ones, prepare to improvise a changing table as one does not exist. The office is cozy and quaint but staff is friendly which makes up for it. actual appointment: Felt rushed and dismissive. Dr. Levy seems to be friendly but extremely scattered. He kept confusing events I was telling him and was a bit impatient with my little guy, which after waiting over 30 minutes to be seen, annoyed me. My little guy was sneezing, had a running nose, puffy eye but this was dismissed as his overly energetic personality was what was paid more attention to. I saw dr Levy in 2009 and attempted to go back to him because i have a rare illness called churg strauss Vasculitis. All my dr wanted was for me to move my Xolair shots out here. He wouldn't see me as a patient because i have a rare illness. I have had 4 Drs from st joseph hosp treat me this way. Its very hard when you spend all this time trying to schedule an appointment. I know you dont realize this dr levy but i wanted to see you because i saw you before and because you currently see my family. My son and I attended our scheduled appointment in Dr. Levy's office. The front office staff was warm and welcoming. Being 1st time clients, everything was easy and quick. Getting all the paperwork completed was very typical of all doctor offices. Our appt with Dr. Levy was perfect. He was well informed of both my son and my file. He asked very pertinent questions that seemed to be right on what my son and I have been feeling. It was not general allergy/asthma questions, but it appears he took the time to know us. Throughout the visit, he maintained a professional demeanor as well as was able to be funny with us. I do not like stiff doctors and I made some opening jokes. He went right along with what I needed as a patient and he read the room very well. Absolutely loved how he built rapport and sustained a friendship with my son and myself. Dr. Levy is everything you want in a Doctor and then some. He's tentative, caring, makes you feel welcomed and at ease; while making you laugh the whole time. This guys was a nut, seriously. He made awkward small talk which I hated and to make things worse he didn't help me with a damn thing. A rip off if I'd ever heard of one for sure. Mind you I walked in very anxious because I have had a severe lip allergy for a while and I wasn't sure (still not sure) what I am allergic too. As a patient I would've expected a little more understanding for my anxiousness, but nope. When I walked in he started off by saying "oh yeah I've seen what you have before I even wrote a book about it, blah blah blah, I'll help you in no time" I walked out with no help, he ran an allergy test and I wasn't severely allergic to anything as I suspected. Anyway long story short he didn't help me at all, he told me to buy allergy medicine from Costco and apply itch cream from on my lips (aka answers you can find on google). Do yourself a favor and do more research before you go to him, serioisly. If I could rate this place a negative star I would!!! On top of this they kept harassing me to my co-pay that I already paid I had proof on my bank statement! They threatened to send me to collections for $40 not to mention the receptionist was trying to make it my job to tell her what day I made my payment, last time I checked that was her job. They never called me back so I called back and they said "oh yeah we found it for some reason it didn't go in our system", so unprofessional! Not to mention pathetic. read more

I went to Dr. Levy in Febuary 2015 to have a metal patch testing procedure done. Be aware that this physician will nickle and dime you for every test he orders. Every office appointment is billed separately for insurance purposes. My skin testing procedure was inconclusive because the doctor did not really perform a complete metal panel testing procedure. He had used the T.R.U.E. testing method, a environmental patch test instead. This physician made no real effort in trying to get to the root cause of my metal allergy insensitivity. Dr. Levy tends to laugh a lot and jokes around with his patients which I feel is not acting professional nor is in the best interest of his patient. read more

I had hives and went to an Urgent Care facility in which the doctor prescribed medicine to mask the symptoms. I then saw my primary care physician, he suggested that I see Dr. Levy because Dr. Levy was the Allergist that he personally used. I figured since my doctor uses Dr. Levy, I should use him too - glad I did! During my initial office visit, I noticed that his staff was super nice and helpful, also Dr. Levy had a great sense of humor and is very personable. Dr. Levy was like a detective, he ordered a lot of tests and figured out that an infection was causing my allergic reaction. At one point, my allergies did get worse and Dr Levy gave me a list of food / additives to avoid which helped a lot. My hives are slowly going away, to the point that I rarely see a hive (this is normal for what I had) - I am so grateful to Dr. Levy! read more

This physician is not only great at what he does, but he does it in such a manner as to make his patients actually want to go! How often have you ever looked forward to going to a doctor? I took my 17-year-old son (a life-long allergy sufferer) the office. Dr. Levy was very thorough and explained everything in detail. He treated both my son and I like members of his own family. He is very down-to-earth and has a terrific sense of humer. I am in one of the allied health professions and have worked 25 years with or around physicians. I saw Dr. Levy three times regarding a persistent skin condition on my hands that my dermatologist had not succeeded in alleviating. He did not focus on prescribing medicine, but rather advised me not to wash my hands so much and use less and milder soaps. After several office visits, my hands were not really improving, and he was not giving me any new options, so I went instead to a different dermatologist, who has dealt with the condition much more successfully. However, what stands out most to me about Dr. Levy were the inappropriate things he said in all three of our appointments. On two occasions, he made stereotypical comments about Asians/Asian Americans, basically to the effect that they were academically obsessed or lacked individuality. (I had told him about one of the students I tutored, and he asked whether he was Asian.) On the third occasion, he went on a tangent about the Middle East (I had said I was hoping to learn Farsi) and he told me that Arabs acted "like animals;" I kid you not. I'm sure that the doctor felt comfortable sharing these opinions with me because I, like him, am a white man, but I found his comments deeply offensive and his personality rather repugnant. I also felt really weird witnessing the interactions between him and his office staff (all women); he seemed to be talking disrespectfully to them and belittling them. I definitely do not recommend Dr. Levy, especially to people of color. read more

I would highly recommend that you don't go to Dr. levy. I traveled almost an hour to his office as he was on the internet for Urticaria or also known as chronic hives. He was pompous in attitude and basically minimized my situation by looking across the room at my arms saying "I've seen it a lot you're no special case"and prescribing allergy medication in higher doses and said come back in 6 weeks. I did what he said with no results. He just increased the dosage and still no results. Went to see him again, he was over an hour late, again just prescribed more medications. It was if he never heard a word I said and just was in his own world trying to get to the next patient. I had these hives which are extreme and altering my life and for over a year and a half since I was bit by a insect in Costa Rica and I brought him biopsies, lab work etc. and he never once examined my body. Bottom line, he left me hanging for several weeks without so much as a call back for a future plan of action. His staff would apologize and blame new receptionist. Finally I got a nurse who said Dr Levy didn't know anything else to do and to recommends me to find a different type of Dr. Like really????? How about discussing how I should get off all the medications he prescribed without side effects. He did nothing positive except ring up some medical bills for me and then leave me with a ton of ineffective medications in my body. He never once tested me for any allergies or even mentioned other options to pursue. Stay away. If its not a quick fix with a drug, this guy won't have a solution for you. Find a Dr that is willing to put some effort into you as a patient. read more

Absolutely awful! The doctor himself is very condescending and not open to any suggestions other than his "expert" opinion - which he forms before completing any tests! And when he's convinced to finally run allergy tests (because I've had potentially life threatening reactions to food!), he isn't available for a few weeks. And when I tried to call to find out more information about insurance, appointments, etc - no one called back after calling every single day for one week. They're only open about 3 hours a day, Monday - Thursday. And basically I STILL haven't received a call back and I'm so so frustrated and would absolutely say GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!! read more

Doctor Levy is a wonderful doctor for everything from infants to adults. He has been my allergist and my daughter's allergist since she was 3 months old. We have been his patients for more than 25 years. He is fun and approachable for the kids, knowledgeable, up to date and caring for all his patients (I have awakened him in the middle of the night to get a prescription called into the 24 hour pharmacy for a kid with a severe asthma attack more than once). He literally saved my life when I had pneumonia that the urgent care had misdiagnosed. I was on antibiotics so I thought I had done all I could do, but I got so sick my husband called him anyway in desperation. I was so weak my husband had to drive me to his office. He fixed me up quickly and has kept me from ever getting it again by keeping my asthma in check. I absolutely LOVE Dr. Levy! After seeing numerous allergists that did not know what to do about a person with an anaphylactic allergy, I was apprehensive when I was referred to Dr. Levy. I remember that I had a list of questions to see if he knew enough about my condition to be able to treat it. I was referred to Dr Levy by an advocacy group for a rare protein disorder that I have (HAE). After decades of suffering with this disorder, going to 23+ specialist doctors over the years, most at the university level, I finally found "the guy". I had been to the ER 60+ times, had organs removed, and still didn't have anywhere near a handle on my disease. Doctor Levy, within 60 days had me on track. He helped my with my short term needs, found a combination of medicines that mitigated the disease state altogether, and eventually, was able to get me on a clinical trial which made my prescription drugs free for about 2 1/2 - 3 years. (The drugs I am required to take cost about $ 1million/year, no kidding). He is brilliant and at the same time has a great bedside manner and a sense of humor. He has helped me navigate 3 different insurance company changes in the last 4 years, and when I needed it in the beginning, work with my insurance company to set up home nurse visits and care.
