I had my first visit with Dr. Friedman, and it was very pleasant. He had a lot of "dad jokes" and was very funny. His office is really popular because he's one of the only docs with evening hours (which is what I need). First appointment is with Dr. Friedman and then you make subsequent appointments for your allergy tests. They are really busy which means Dr. Friedman is good. My only complaint is that my allergy tests are scheduled over a month out because of their busy office with lots of patients. It's better to go to a good doctor who is busy than a bad one who has a lot of availability. I HIGHLY recommend! read more

Dr. is condescending and rude. Did not listen to me. Got me testing for things I did not need. I figured out my allergies on my own with ZERO help from Dr. Friedman. My son's allergy test results were lost so he went through 2 tests for nothing. They informed me that patients' charts were taken outside of the office and the charts were stolen from the employee's car. So much for HIPPA. It's also very difficult to get anyone to answer the phone. Called at different times on different days and you can't leave a message either. Answering service will only take emergency messages. Communication is very poor overall and they are disorganized -we had scheduling mishaps as well. I cannot in my heart recommend this practice. read more

This practice only cares about making money from patients. They called me after somehow my doctor referred me and I had a very specific allergy issue I was dealing with. I shared documents and confirmed they can help my situation, but I wasn't confident. They called me TWICE the previous day to confirm the appointment and on the day of I asked more specific questions and the front office people answered as if they were the doctor. This doctor strolls in at 12:45pm and likely just has "conversations" with his patients versus provide real care. This place is a nightmare to deal with and the front office staff are of absolutely no help. Take your business other places where doctors actually provide care and don't base their services off a conversation. I know what needs to get done and they are not able to provide it. Therefore they should not be a business or have a doctor's license to abuse the system like they are. read more

I came in to see Dr. Friedman because I have been dealing with allergies for a while and my wife suggested that he may be able to help. I spent about 25 minutes answering questions, and during that time, I found him to be quite personable and knowledgeable. However, as soon as the consultation was over, I was immediately rushed over to make an appointment for my allergy testing, without even being explained what it would entail, if it was actually needed for my case, and what it would cost me out of pocket. After inquiring about costs, it turned out that I would be paying significantly more than I expected. So I went home and decided that it wasn't worth it, especially since I still had a ton of unanswered questions about getting the shot. I totally forgot about the appointment that they had made for me, and ended up missing it. It was really my fault for not canceling it immediately. But a few weeks later, I get a bill in the mail for 2 no-shows, to the tune of $35 each. When my wife called to see if something could be done about them, the lady told her that I had rescheduled my initial appointment and was told of the no-show fee. Both of these were not true. I never called them to reschedule my appointment and was never told there would be a charge. I don't mind paying a small fee for forgetting to cancel my appointment, because really, it was my fault. But I think it's pretty lame for a doctor's office to make up excuses in order to collect a few more dollars, for services that were never provided. It's seems pretty clear to me now why I was so rushed through the process and pushed to make an appointment, before having any time to decide if it was even necessary. It's pretty disappointing to see all the little tactics they use to maximize their profits. Needless to say, I won't be coming back. read more

Getting the consultation and allergy shots here was fine, but when I had to move, they made it as difficult as possible. They seem disorganized, forgetting to file prescriptions and then not faxing records despite multiple calls over 2 weeks. Though they were happy to tell me what was in the shots while I was a patient, when I left, all of a sudden they refused to even tell me what categories the shots were treating (which molds, pollens, etc). The back-and-forth set me back at least a month in shots when I moved. Earns one star back because the staff was friendly in-person. read more

I have had an atrocious experience with this practice. I needed diagnosis and treatment for severe allergies. I found this practice and read good reviews about it so I decided to come here to get diagnosed and treated. I had a pleasant first appointment and enjoyed a good conversation with Dr. Friedman, similar to how other patients have commented about his good and engaging personality. Dr. Friedman said that I needed to get allergy tested and to stop taking Zyrtec in order to conduct those tests. I explained that this would be very difficult for me since its the only method of controlling my flares but he insisted and prescribed Cortisone saying that it will control my symptoms for several days before the test. Everything went south from that point onward. Cortisone did not control my symptoms and and I got severe flares all over my body. For the next 48 hours, I tried day and night to connect with the doctor to discuss and failed. The office staff at his 16300 Sand Canyon office is the most inhumane and uncaring group of individuals that I have ever interacted with. They would alternate between 'Nothing we can do for you' to 'You can't speak to the doctor' to 'We will page the doctor' and I never received any response back while suffering through my symptoms. So I just persevered through excruciating pain and went to get the tests done. I needed to do two tests, a food allergy and an environmental allergy test. On the day of the test, the office person said I will need to do them on two separate days. When I explained that I have severe symptoms and need to get both of them done to get back to my medication, her exact belligerent responses were: 'I don't have time For You today' When I pushed back citing my condition, I got a different response: 'Well if we do both of them today, then the insurance will not pay for both!' When I said that this has nothing to do with patient care and that I need to see the Dr. to discuss, I finally got told: 'No you can't see the doctor, there is nothing we can do for you, and if you are not feeling well, just go to urgent care..!'. Those are the exact words uttered by a person who should never be in the field of providing patient care at any level. At that point, I got up and left the office without doing the test as I genuinely feared for my long term care If I started my actual treatment with an office that so blatantly prioritizes financials over a patient's well being and refuses to provide basic patient care between 'paid' appointments. I will be looking for a different practice to get help, one that understands and respects the Hippocratic Oath for what it truly stands for. read more

12/17: I asked for my test results which should have the details of what foods besides "environmental" stuff I'm allergic to ages ago and obviously never received a thing from his office. When I was getting a test, nurse told me that I had a nut allergy because one of the test spots was swollen. She said the Dr would read the details to me during the evaluation which of course never happened. I walked out only knowing I'm allergic to environmental stuff which cannot fixed. And now thinking back, why didn't he bring up other allergies that I was tested for? It would be REALLLY great if i could get my hands on the test results! read more

Dr. Friedman and his staff were awesome. He spent a lot of time learning more about my background, we chatted about sports, he really took his time. I didn't feel rushed, it was like a conversation with an old friend. His team were very helpful in getting my follow up visits scheduled and the wait to see him was short. More importantly the treatments he gave me for my itches watery eyes worked within hours, even after seeing another dr and getting some medication which after a week didn't relieve any of my symptoms. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Went to an appointment with the doctor for itchy spots. He quickly suggested to schedule allergy testing in his office. At the front desk, they refused to schedule me for the tests unless I pay upfront for the visit. Being a PPO with Aetna, I was advised not to pay anything until Aetna adjusts the bill. A tedious argument followed and I was never scheduled for any test. Now I'm being threatened by their collection agency for refusing to pay for a visit that led nowhere. read more

DR. Friedman is wonderful, I recommend him constantly to friends. I had a complicated set of symptoms for about 6 years. Dr. Friedman was very patient to the weird symptoms and has incredible beside manner. He also has a very reasonably short wait time for any appointment, likely because his staff at both locations is helpful and on top of it. read more

Amazing doctor!!! Very knowledgable and easy to talk to! He is thorough and takes his time listening and then explaining his findings/test results! I was very skeptical taking my 14 month old to a broad spectrum allergist, if I was going to subject him to painful testing I only wanted to do it once and I wanted conclusive results, however dr Friedman was the only allergist in my network that was less than 3 hours away. Even though he isn't strictly a pediatric allergist he was amazing with my little guy!! We were seen at his office for a 45 min consultation to get my sons medical history and my concerns, then two dats of testing, then another 1 hour meeting going over the results and my questions. There was always parking readily available. The office staff was friendly and helpful. The wait time was less than 10 min every visit. I will recommend dr Friedman to all I know! Dr. Freidman treated my 19 month old son, and helped us figure out what specific food allergies he has. I am so grateful as we only had a blood test to go off from his pediatrician, and were avoiding soooo many foods (wheat,soy, eggs,dairy,corn) until we did a skin test with Dr. Freidman and are now able to give my son more options. His office staff is amazing and extremely thorough. It is so refreshing to have a place that runs smoothly and where you don't have to be on top of following up with them. Dr. Friedman talks A LOT. Don't get me wrong, he's very knowledgeable and he prescribed me some good stuff for my seasonal allergies. And he definitely spends a lot of time with you. But the whole time I felt like I was getting a sales pitch to come back for further testing to narrow down what was causing my allergies. In fact, they wanted me to book appointment right then and there. What I do like about his office is that I turned down a prescription for abuterol while I was at his office. Months later when I felt like I needed it, my pharmacy called his office and they OK'd a prescription for it over the phone so I didn't have to go in for an appointment. My insurance has coverage for me to see an allergist and so I searched for a doctor around Irvine and Dr. Friedman showed up on my search. Getting into the office, finishing the initial paperwork and waiting totaled about 30 minutes. When I got in to meet the doctor, he was warm and hospitable. I found the consultation to be really thorough and he was genuinely a nice person. Allergy testing was very helpful and he's very informative. read more

My husband and I have been going to Dr. Friedman the last couple months, and I'm so glad I found him. He has such a wonderful bedside manner, and is very knowledgeable in his field. The whole process of allergy testing and starting my allergy shots has been stress free and easy. The front office girls are also very sweet and on top of all the insurance billing and any appointments. His office is also very accomodating for his patients. He has great office hours, and they are even open on Saturdays from 9-12, which is rare with doctors, so I really appreciate him thinking of his patients. read more

He is aware of new science breakthroughs in his field and is willing to try new treatments that really work. I will NEVER go to anyone else, and never hesitate to refer him He is an amazing doctor...one of the few left that really cares about helping his patients! I have been seeing Dr. Friedman for several years for severe allergies (allergies since I was a child). I love Dr. Friedman, as he is always caring, very helpful, funny, and just an all around amazing doctor. I used to be sick with allergy attacks so often, and I am rarely sick anymore thanks to his expertise and care. I would highly recommend him for allergy sufferers.
